QUAKERTOWN 3, HARRY S TRUMAN 2 (25-13, 17-25, 25-27, 25-19, 15-6)
The host Panthers rallied from a 2-1 deficit to earn the non-league win.
Leading the Panthers at the net was Shiann Alpha (10 kills) while Lindsay Beck and Skylar Lee added nine kills each. Beck also had a huge game at the service line with nine aces. Ellie deGruchy added three kills. MacKenzie Mahler was credited with 18 assists to go along with five digs and three aces while Ashley Morris had eight assists and four aces. Alisa Buonanno had 13 digs and two aces to lead the Panthers defensively, and Casey Cunnane had eight digs and two aces.
PLYMOUTH WHITEMARSH 3, CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 0 (25-19, 25-20, 25-20)
Setter Bridget McTamney handed out 32 assists in the Colonials sweep of the Titans. Danielle Rippert led PW at the net with 18 kills to go along with three aces and 16 digs. Olivia Carbo led the defense with 17 digs.
Saturday, Sept. 12
CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 3, UPPER DUBLIN 1 (25-22, 19-25, 25-14, 25-16)
In a non-league battle of SOL unbeaten squads, it was the Patriots emerging victorious.
“It was a tough match against a very strong opponent,” UD coach Paul Choi said. “CB East easily had the advantage in their height and has a strong serving team.
“(We) fought well and played very scrappy, digging up everything we could.”
East setter Maddie D’Angelo was credited with 40 assists to go along with eight digs. The Patriots once again featured a balanced attack with Krista Helveston contributing 10 kills while Natalie Arm, Julia Gallagher and Jenn Krzemenski each added nine kills. Arm also had a team-high 19 digs and five aces. Helveston had 15 digs and two aces while Krzeminski had three aces. Erin Lane added 19 digs.
For the Flying Cardinals, Josie Barrett led the defense with 16 digs while Gabbi Johnson and Jenny McAneney both had 12 digs. Maggie Weglos added 10 digs.
UPPER MERION 3, GARNET VALLEY 1 (18-25, 25-13, 25-17, 25-18)
The Vikings dropped the first set of Saturday’s non-league match against the visiting Jaguars but rallied to win the next three, improving to 3-0 on the young season.
Carlye Odorisio contributed another double-double with 16 kills and 32 assists. Carolyn Helenski added 12 kills, Tori Wright had 10 and Emma Andraka added nine. Michaela Ghanayem had 15 digs and 11 service points, and Emma Andraka added three blocks.
Upper Merion will play at PW on Wednesday afternoon.
Friday, Sept. 11
SOUDERTON 3, COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 0 (25-16, 25-16, 25-16)
The Indians swept their visitors in Friday’s non-league match, winning all three sets by identical scores.
Savannah Bostwick led the defense with 17 digs to go along with three aces. Lauren Hamilton (12 assists) and Talia Watson (10 assists) split setting duties. Hamilton also had nine digs, and Watson had a strong service game with six aces. Hannah Fairweather had five kills and two blocks, Tori Reiner had four kills and four blocks while Monica Miller and Miranda Baronett added five and four kills respectively.
With the win, the Indians improve to 2-1 on the season (1-0 SOL).
CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 3, ABINGTON 0 (25-19, 25-22, 25-16)
The Bucks swept the visiting Ghosts in a non-league contest Friday.
Sophie Videva (six kills, four aces, three digs), Julia Schweibenz (five kills, two aces, nine digs) April Neeld (six kills, five digs), Katie Hudson (five kills, two aces, seven digs) and Deanna Mattioli (four kills, two digs) all contributed to a balanced attack. Setter Kayla King had 29 assists, two kills, two aces and seven digs while Kailey Prall led the defense with 12 digs, two kills and one ace. Sophie Caffrey added four digs.
METHACTON 3, QUAKERTOWN 0
Alisa Buonanno had a big game defensively, contributing 14 digs and one ace. Lindsay Beck (three kills, seven digs), Ellie DeGruchy (three kills) and Shiann Alpha (three kills, one block) led the Panthers at the net.
