Abington Pushes PW to Five Sets
(Submitted by Abington VB)
In a high-octane Suburban One League matchup on the road, Abington Senior High School went toe-to-toe with Plymouth Whitemarsh in an electric five-set thriller. Though Abington narrowly fell 3-2, both teams left everything on the floor in a relentless, point-for-point battle.
Plymouth Whitemarsh took set one, but the two SOL rivals traded sets all night (PW took sets 1, 3 & 5; Abington took sets 2 & 4). Powered by aggressive serves, powerful hitting, and relentless back-row defense, the Ghosts showed tremendous heart from start to finish.
Match Standouts:
- Sophia Heininger (#14, Sr. OH): Dominated all around with 12 kills, 7 digs, and 5 aces.
- Maddie Peltzer (#9, Sr. OH): Provided clutch offense and defense with 10 kills, 5 digs, and 3 aces.
- Jasmine Acevedo (Jr. Libero): Anchored the defense with 27 receptions, 15 digs, and 4 aces.
While a 3-2 loss is tough, Abington proved they can go the distance against top competition.

WILLIAM TENNENT 2, New Hope 3 (16-25, 25-23, 25-19, 10-15)
(Submitted by Tennent VB)
Tennent was on the road today against the New Hope Lions, hoping to take home the win tonight – they battled hard through an exciting 5-set match, but the Lions were just a bit too strong for the Lady Panthers and New Hope took the W.
It was not, however, without hard-fought defenses, well-executed plays by the Panthers and long rallies resulting in a point-by-point game. Sophomore KayKay Lorenz had an incredible 29 digs today, keeping the Lions honest at every swing; she could not be stopped! She added 3 assists and an ace to her offense. Senior outside Aubrey Lynch brought home 15 kills including a season-high 25 digs to support our defense. Senior setter Emily Kehner also had an exciting offensive game with 27 assists, 2 kills, 2 aces and a season-high 13 digs, and junior rightside Carissa Malpezzi did her part with an additional 12 digs. Though Tennent couldn’t quite take the match, it was still a great night of playing. Hoping to challenge New Hope to a rematch when Tennent hosts them at the end of the season.
By the numbers: William Tennent: Emily Kehner (Senior, Setter) 27 assists, 2 aces, 2 kills, 13 digs; Aubrey Lynch (Senior, Outside), 15 kills, 1 ace, 25 digs; Natalie Nabuhotny (Senior, Outside) 8 kills, 2 aces, 14 digs; Fiona Kreckmann (Junior Middle) 1 assist; Carissa Malpezzi (Junior, Oppo) 2 kills, 12 digs; Libbie Thorpe (Sophomore, Middle) 3 kills, 3 digs; KayKay Lorenz (Sophomore, Libero) 29 digs, 1 ace, 3 assists; Avery Baun (Freshman, DS) 1 dig.
Up next: Tennent is home hosting Pennridge next Tuesday.
