SOL Freedom Division
LOWER MORELAND 5, CHELTENHAM 3
A young Lions’ squad notched their first win of the season, rallying from an early 2-0 hole to earn the come-from-behind win.
Cheltenham scored one run in the top of the first inning and another one in the top of the third, but with two outs in the bottom of the third, Izzy O’Brien reached base on a throwing error, and after three consecutive singles by Nikki Sahl, Emma DiJoseph (RBI), and Delaney Arthur (2 RBIs), the Lions were on top, 3-2.
Lower Moreland added another run in the fourth inning to extend their lead to 4-2 when Jordyn Fox, who singled, scored on Nina Dudek’s one-out single.
Cheltenham scored one run in the top of the sixth cutting the Lions’ lead back to one, but Lower Moreland answered in the bottom of the inning with one run of their own on hits by Lily Seiner, Annika Swanson, and Dudek (RBI).
Dudek’s 2-for-3 day at the plate led LM and included two RBIs. Delaney Arthur went 1-for-3 with two RBIs.
Cheltenham leadoff hitter Kendall Nelson led her team with two hits, two runs scored, and two stolen bases.
Freshman Izzy O’Brien earned the win in the circle for Lower Moreland, allowing four hits while striking out nine and walking three.

Non-league
COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 8, PLYMOUTH WHITEMARSH 7
The visiting Golden Hawks broke a 4-4 tie with a four-run outburst in the top of the fifth. The Colonials answered with three runs in the bottom of the inning but could not push the tying run across in Friday’s non-league game.
“This early season test against Plymouth Whitmarsh demonstrated our team’s potential, and I am so proud of their preparation and performance,” Rock South coach Scott Molle said. “Despite an up-and down game with lead changes, these kids showed resilience and never gave up. We have a special group of girls who are close-knit and display great chemistry on the field. Everyone played their role perfectly, embodying the culture we’ve stressed since day one.”
The non-league contest between a pair of teams with high expectations was a spirited one.
“It was a playoff atmosphere during the first week of the season,” PW coach Mike Perez said. “It was a back-and-forth game with a lot of exciting moments. A hard fought battle between two solid teams.”
In the top of the sixth, Zoe Emerson ignited the Golden Hawks when she ripped a triple to right field. She scored when Kelly Delise followed with a line drive double to center. Helen Woloshyn legged out an infield single, and when the next two batters were retired, it looked as though the Colonials would see their way out of the inning.
But a walk to Julia Scannapieco set the stage for a two-run double by Avery Tumolo with a third run crossing the plate on the throw, and just like that, the Golden Hawks led 8-4.
In the bottom of the inning, PW’s Madison Moran drew a leadoff walk, and Anna Powel followed with a single to center. An error on Marissa Perez’s single allowed a pair of runs to cross the plate. The Colonials’ third run also scored on an error. That turned out to be the end of the scoring for both sides.
Woloshyn – who has blazing speed – was a perfect 4-for-4 out of the leadoff spot and scored two runs. She also had one RBI.Tumolo had a productive day for the Golden Hawks, going 2-for-3 with a double and four RBIs. Delise was 2-for-3 with a double, RBI and two runs scored, and Lexi Waring was 2-for-4 with a run scored.
Waring notched the complete game win, striking out nine and walking three. Molle lauded the effort of his pitcher.
“Lexi going back-to-back games had 9Ks against a very talented team that made it to states last year and returned eight of nine starters,” the Rock South coach said. “Avery Tumolo was huge at the plate today.”
Sam Skivo (2-for-4, R), Moran (2-for-3, 2B, RBI, 2R) and Powel (2-for-3, R) led the Colonials.
“Council Rock South has a really nice team, and their offense did a great job of coming up with big situation hits when they needed them,” Perez said. “I’m proud of our girls for answering back every time CR South scored, but we fell just short in the end.
“Lexi (Waring) did a great job in the circle and got big outs when she needed them. I’ve been very impressed with both of our pitchers – Madison Moran and Rian Reed – thus far, and we’ll continue to figure out how to get them both action.”
Council Rock South (2-0, 1-0 SOL) will host Spring-Ford in a non-league game Monday, and Plymouth Whitemarsh (1-1, 1-0) will host Boyertown in a non-league game Monday.

UPPER MORELAND 3, DOCK MENNONITE ACADEMY 1
Delaney Stout turned in another monster performance for the Golden Bears. The freshman excelled in both the circle and at the plate. Stout allowed just one hit and one run in the complete game win. She struck out 15 and walked only one. She also drove in two of her team’s three runs.
“Both teams played well today and both pitchers did a great job,” UM coach Melanie Martino said. “For us, Delaney had another great game with 15 strikeouts as well as helping us out at the plate. She is a very talented, hardworking kid and it shows on the field.”
The Golden Bears put a run on the board in the bottom of the first when Joslyn McCellan delivered a clutch two-out RBI single. They took that 1-0 lead into the sixth when Stout lined a double to center that plated a pair.
Dock broke up Stout’s no-hit bid when Aubrey Gahman led off the top of the seventh with a double. She scored on a groundout.
Walton’s 2-for-3 day at the plate led the Golden Bears, who had only four hits but made them count.
“Claire Walton helped to lead our offense today,” Martino said. “She has had a great first week. Joslyn McCellan once again came up with some key hits for us as well.
“Overall, I couldn’t be happier with the start of our season and with how well this team is building the team culture we have been striving towards.”

The Panthers pounded out nine hits and benefitted from seven Upper Perk errors in Friday’s non-league mercy rule win. Abbey Wagner turned in another gem in the circle, allowing two hits while striking out eight and walking none.
Ava Beal was safe on an error to lead off the bottom of the first. She stole second and came all the way home on a two-base Upper Perk miscue on the play, and the tone was set.
The Panthers scored five runs in the second, again benefitting from several errors. They added a run in the third on Kira Jefferson’s solo home run and finished the scoring with three more in the fourth to put the mercy rule into effect after five innings.

WISSAHICKON 21, DELAWARE COUNTY CHRISTIAN 6
The Trojans, according to coach Mike Borkowski, scheduled a non-league game knowing nothing about their opponent.
“They said they were looking for a game, and our AD asked if I wanted to play them,” the Trojans’ coach said. “I said, ‘Sure.’
“The only thing I know is from reffing their basketball games, and they were always real nice quality kids.”
Delco jumped on pitcher Gianna Trerotola for two runs in the first.
“I think she was a little tight from the cold but then straightened herself out,” Borkowski said. “We got eight runs back in the bottom of the first.
“Their pitcher had a hard time finding the strike zone. She might have been a little stiff from the ride.”
Delco got a run back in the second.
“Their leadoff hitter, D’Antonio, scored two runs,” Borkowski said. “They had a pretty good top three or four at the top of their order.”
Wissahickon came back with five runs in the second. Senior captain Kaitlyn Scalley raced around the bases for an inside-the-park home run.
“I knew she had a bunch of family members watching behind the plate, so I sent her,” Borkowski said. “I was hoping she would be safe”.
In the top of the fourth, Delco scored three runs to tighten up the game, 14-6.
Wissahickon wrapped it up in the bottom of the fourth, scoring seven runs to win 21-6.
“It was a good way to end the week, especially after getting pounded by Hatboro the day before,” Borkowski said. “We have a very young team mixed with six terrific seniors, so it’s good to see us rebound like this.”
Wissahickon (2-2, 0-1 SOL) will host Central Bucks East in a non-league game Monday.
