HARRY S TRUMAN 5, COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 4
Two days after scoring four runs late in the game to earn a win over Council Rock North, the Tigers were back at it again, this time scoring three runs in the top of the seventh to erase a 4-2 deficit and earn their second come-from-behind win in as many games.
“The girls are pretty amazing – they’re impressing me big time,” coach Lisamarie Belmonte said. “They’re super excited, they’re super hyped to play every game and just happy to be competitive in every game.
“That’s what we’ve been teaching them – just to be competitive and stay in the game. My staff and myself just keep instilling in them – just play every pitch, every out and every inning, and let the cards fall where they may. It’s really been working out in our favor.
“My staff has been phenomenal with my coaching philosophy and helping me instill it in the girls, and I cannot thank them enough.”
Both teams scored all of their runs late in the game. The Golden Hawks plated two in both the fifth and sixth innings to go on top 4-2 while the Tigers scored two in the sixth and three in the seventh.
In the seventh, Teyana Towner led off with a single to left, capping a tough seven-pitch at-bat. Chrissy Huhn followed with a double to put runners on second and third with none out. A bunt single by Elle Olivera loaded the bases. Towner scored the game’s first run on fielder’s choice by Grace Pool. Mara McKeon’s bases-clearing triple put the Tigers on top 5-4.
Huhn finished the day 2-for-4 with a double, triple and two runs scored.
“She came up big for us,” Belmonte said. “Grace Pool had a double, and that was big. It helped score Chrissy (Huhn) early in the game.”
Haley Carter threw 4.2 innings in a winning effort, allowing six hits and two runs while walking one and striking out one. Jalecia Blackston threw the final inning and two-thirds. She did not allow a hit or run and walked one.
“Haley Carter and Jalecia Blackston – again, both of my pitchers came up huge,” Belmonte said. “Jalecia came in in relief and dominated in the seventh inning and just shut them down. It was impressive.”
Danielle Walters absorbed the loss, allowing nine hits while striking out five and walking four.
Harry S Truman (2-0 SOL) will travel to Archbishop Wood for a non-league game Saturday at noon, and Council Rock South (0-3, 0-2) will host Lansdale Catholic in a non-league game on Friday.

PENNSBURY 4, COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 1
What a difference a year makes.
Last year, the Falcons didn’t win their second game of the season until April 18. This year, it took them just two games.
“We didn’t get our second win until around the 10th game of the season last year, so we’re tickled pink,” Pennsbury coach Frank McSherry said. “Sometimes when things don’t go well in the beginning of the season, it kind of snowballs. That’s what we were saying last year, and it happens. We’re happy for the kids.”
Freshman Ainsley McClure earned the complete game win over the defending district runner-up Indians, allowing just five hits and one run while striking out four and walking one.
The Falcons scored a pair of runs in the top of the first. Sierra Daley led off with a single. An RBI fielder’s choice off the bat of Caitlyn Martell put the Falcons on the scoreboard. Casey Glynn doubled and scored on an error to give the Falcons an early 2-0 lead.
The Indians cut that lead in half with a run in the fourth, but the Falcons added a pair of runs in the fifth. Martell delivered an RBI double, and she scored the game’s fourth run on a wild pitch.
“I’m really pleased,” said McSherry. “We’re happy for the kids. A freshman shortstop (Martell) and a freshman pitcher (McClure). Our catcher (Kaley Capriotti) is a first-year varsity player and our third baseman is a first-year varsity (Lizzie Pingor).
“Casey Glynn was the designated player for us last year as a sophomore. Now it looks like she’s holding down left field, so it’s her first year out there. They did a good job.”
The Falcons managed just four hits, but three of them were doubles. In addition to Martell and Glynn, Pingor also doubled.
Pennsbury (2-0, 1-0 SOL) will travel to Neshaminy for a key conference battle Monday. Council Rock North (1-2, 1-2) will host Archbishop Wood Saturday in a non-league game.

Freshman Kennedie Ruth did not allow a hit in three shutout innings. She fanned six and did not walk a batter to earn her first varsity win.
The Redskins scored a pair in the top of the first and put the game out of reach with a seven-run second. Asia Barnard opened the second with a single, and freshman Amanda Slabicki followed with a double. Junior Rachel Kohler’s two-run triple highlighted the inning.
A six-run third brought an early end to the contest.
Barnard and Kylee Jones led the Redskins’ nine-hit attack. Both finished the game 2-for-3 with three RBIs.
Neshaminy (3-0, 2-0 SOL) will host Abington in a non-league game Friday, and Bensalem (1-1, 0-1) will host Villa Joseph Marie Monday in a non-league game.

CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 3, CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 1
Kayla Gallagher struck out 10 and allowed just two hits while walking seven in the complete game win over the Patriots. The Bucks got all the runs Gallagher would need in the bottom of the first when they plated a pair.
Ebani Welsh drew a leadoff walk, and Bailey Dumasz, who had a pair of hits, singled. Welsh raced home when Abby Lineman was safe on an error. Grace Dryden’s RBI double spotted the Bucks an early 2-0 lead.
The Patriots got on the scoreboard with a solo home run in the fourth, but the Bucks got that run back in the fifth. Lineman drew a walk, and after a Courtney Levy double, the Bucks had runners on second and third. Lineman scored when Anna Rodenbaugh delivered a pinch hit single. Neither team scored the rest of the way.
“Any time you beat East – we have a good time,” West coach Geoff Thompson said.
Central Bucks West (2-0, 1-0 SOL) will host Palisades in a non-league game Friday, and Central Bucks East (0-2, 0-1) will host Central Bucks South on Tuesday.

CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 12, QUAKERTOWN 2 (5 innings)
The Titans – after dropping their first two games of the season – took out any frustration they may have been feeling on the visiting Panthers, erupting for 12 runs in the first inning. Maddie Rowley’s three-run home run highlighted the outburst. The Titans sent 17 batters to the plate in a first inning that saw them pound out 12 of their 17 hits.
“We had an inter-squad scrimmage yesterday and hit off live pitching, and I think it did us a ton of good,” coach Kevin Rosini said. “Instead of doing the normal BP, we got to hit in situations, we got to see live pitching, and you could just see how free and easy we were swinging the bat today. It was fantastic.”
Alexa Ortman was 4-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and two runs scored out of the leadoff spot. Rowley was 2-for-3 with a double, home run, four RBIs and two runs. Liv Robinson was 3-for-3 with two runs scored, and Nicole Pilla was 3-for-3 with three RBIs. Katie Hines was 2-for-3 with a run scored.
Kylie Kenney earned the win, allowing four hits while striking out five and walking one.
“She pitched really well,” Rosini said. “She’s getting in her groove. We did well. We really needed it.”
Jenna Blair accounted for two of the Panthers’ hits. She finished the day 2-for-2. Sarah Stofik doubled and scored a run.
Central Bucks South (1-2, 1-0 SOL) will travel to Perkiomen Valley Monday for a non-league game, and Quakertown (0-2, 0-1) will host Boyertown in a non-league game Monday.

PLYMOUTH WHITEMARSH 6, WISSAHICKON 2
The Colonials received contributions up and down their lineup, and freshman Lauryn Kane tossed a complete game win in her varsity debut, allowing six hits and two runs while striking out three and walking two. She also was 2-for-3 at the plate with an RBI and run scored.
“Today’s win was a team effort,” PW coach Dana Moyer said. “Lauryn Kane battled. I’m proud of her work and demeanor on the mound today to earn her first high school win.
“At the plate, she always helps herself, hitting the ball hard in every at-bat.”
PW put a pair of runs on the board in the bottom of the first. Kamryn Kropinski led off with a single to left, and Jennifer Byrnes brought her home with a triple to left. Byrnes scored on a passed ball to give the Colonials a 2-0 lead.
That advantage grew to 6-0 after a four-run third. Kropinski once again got the ball rolling with a leadoff single. The inning included a costly error as well as singles by Kane (RBI), Josee Tassoni and Hannah Suh (2 RBIs).
The Trojans put a pair of runs on the board in the seventh.
Kropinski finished the day 2-for-3 with two runs scored out of the leadoff spot. Suh was 1-for-3 with two RBIs.
“Kammy Kropinski had another great day at the plate,” Moyer said. “She was 2-for-3, but her third at-bat – which was an out – was one of the hardest balls I’ve ever seen.”
If Moyer had a concern, it was her team’s four errors.
“We had a number of uncharacteristic physical errors today, but thankfully, we were able to overcome them,” the PW coach said. “Looking forward to see how this team grows this season.”
Danielle Ciliberto, the Trojans’ leadoff batter, was 2-for-3 with a run scored.
