SOL Patriot/Colonial crossover
CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 10, COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 1
The Bucks – riding yet another strong outing by pitcher Sienna Lawson – took a 3-1 lead into the top of the fifth when they exploded for seven runs to seize control of Monday’s crossover game.
Lawson scattered five hits and allowed one run while striking out four and walking one in the complete game win.
“Sienna Lawson was outstanding in the circle today,” West coach Mike Daher said. “She battled through seven innings and kept us in the game until our bats got going in the fifth inning when we scored seven runs to break the game open. Ava Mattes did an excellent job catching Sienna and kept all of the North runners in check.”
In the pivotal fifth inning, Jill Boyle drew a leadoff walk, and one out later, Chloe Dryden lined a one-out double to left. Boyle scored on Laila Murray’s single to left, and Molly Gibson’s single brought another run home.
Taylor Hooven’s two run double put the visitors on top 7-1, and the Bucks weren’t finished yet. Hooven scored on a line single to center by Julia Thomas. With two outs, Mattes drew a walk, and two more runs crossed the plate for a 10-1 lead when Boyle lined a double to right field.
Murray’s 3-for-4 day at the plate with a double, two RBIs and a run scored led the Bucks. Her double accounted for the first run of the game. Also contributing multi-hit games were Ana Glemser (2-for-5) and Dryden (2-for-4, 2B, 3 R).
“Laila Murray had a big day at the plate,” Daher said. “Taylor Hooven and Jill Boyle both contributed a double and two RBIs. Chloe Dryden and Ana Glemser each had two hits while Chloe also scored three runs. Molly Gibson, Julia Thomas and Avery Rubenstein all contributed offensively with run-scoring singles. It was a total team effort with everyone contributing in some way.”
For the Indians, Zoe Hardy was 1-for-3 with a triple and run scored. Taylor Gearhart was 2-for-2 with an RBI.
Central Bucks West (4-2, 4-1 SOL) will host Council Rock South on Tuesday for a crossover game, and Council Rock North (4-0, 2-0) will travel to Central Bucks South on Tuesday for a 6 p.m. crossover game.

NORTH PENN 5, SOUDERTON 0
Bella Nunn struck out 11 in a complete game three-hit shutout, leading the Knights to the win in Monday’s contest against the visiting Indians.
“She pitched really well,” North Penn coach Rick Torresani said. “It seems like when it’s hot out – it just seems like she throws really well.”
Nunn, who walked two, threw 108 pitches – 75 for strikes.
“They had some runners on, but she just bared down, and that’s what I wanted to see when she got runners on if she bared down, and she really has,” Torresani said. “It’s early for her because she didn’t pitch any varsity ball. This is her first year of being the pitcher. In summer league, she averaged four innings a game.
“Even though she may have tired out in games we already had, I continued to have her throw because I need her to get her pitch count up, so she can continue to do what she’s been doing, and that’s pitch seven innings.”
While Nunn was getting the job done in the circle, Gianna Cimino had a big day at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a home run, two RBIs and two runs scored.
“Her day was awesome,” Torresani said. “Even the out she hit today was hard hit. She was hitting the ball hard, but she was struggling. I kept telling her, ‘They’ll drop, just keep concentrating on what you’re doing,’ and it’s now turning around. She’s hitting the ball hard. Today – she hit a blast for a two-run homer.”
Cimino is a four-year starter and has had a lot of big-game experience.
“I think she put the weight on her shoulders that this was the year she was going to have to carry the team,” Torresani said. “I told her – ‘You do not have to be Julia Shearer, you just have to be Gianna Cimino. Go out and do what you’ve always done,’ and that’s what she’s doing now.
“We have some other kids that are hitting that took a little bit of the pressure off her. She’s coming through and doing what Gianna has done for four years.”
The Knights scored all the runs Nunn would need in the first inning. Gabby Battavio led off and was hit by a pitch, and Cimino followed with a single. Both runners advanced on a wild pitch, and Battavio scored on Casey Sokol’s sacrifice fly to right field. Cimino raced home on Sophia Orth’s groundout, and the Knights had a lead they would not lose.
North Penn added an unearned run without collecting a hit in the fourth and tacked two more runs on in the fifth when Battavio, who led off the inning with a single, scored on Cimino’s home run to left field for a 5-0 lead that held until the game’s final out.
McKenna Schroding absorbed the loss for the Indians. Skyler Byres did not allow a hit in two shutout innings to close out the game.
North Penn (8-1, 5-1 SOL) will travel to Neshaminy for Tuesday’s crossover game, and Souderton (5-3, 2-3) will be on the road at Harry S Truman Tuesday for a crossover game.

SOL Liberty
QUAKERTOWN 4, HATBORO-HORSHAM 1
In a battle of two of the SOL Liberty’s premiere teams, it was the Panthers notching the hard-earned win to remain undefeated while the Hatters suffered their first league loss. Both teams had plenty of base runners.
“We played great defense against a very good team,” Quakertown coach Rich Scott said.
In the second inning, the Hatters had runners on second and third with one out. Maddie Karpovich lined a double to left field to lead off the inning and one out later, Bella Karpovich singled to left field and advanced to second on the throw.
The Panthers escaped unscathed as Abbey Wagner struck out the next batter she faced and coaxed a foul popup for the inning’s final out.
In the top of the third, the Panthers put a pair of runs on the board. Highlights of the inning included a leadoff double by Wagner and an RBI single by Ava Beal. They upped their lead to 3-0 when Kira Jefferson, who singled and stole second, scored on Ellie Hilton’s groundout.
In the top of the sixth, the Panthers added a run when Jefferson legged out a bunt single and once again scored on a Hilton groundout.
The Hatters made it a 4-1 game in the bottom of the seventh when Maya Ravi, who was safe on a two-base error, scored on Cara Neeld’s single.
For the Panthers, Jefferson was 2-for-3 with two runs scored.
Wagner notched the complete game win, striking out seven and walking none.
For the Hatters, Maddie Karpovich was 2-for-3 with a double.
Senior Alyssa Tooley reached two career milestones in the contest – notching her 300th strikeout and collecting her 100th career hit.
Quakertown (7-0, 5-0 SOL) will host Springfield Twp in a crossover game Tuesday, and Hatboro-Horsham (4-2, 4-1) will be on the road for Tuesday’s crossover game at Lower Moreland.

NEW HOPE-SOLEBURY 8, WILLIAM TENNENT 6
The Lions spent the game staging one comeback after another with their final comeback a five-run rally in the bottom of the sixth that turned a 6-3 deficit into an 8-6 lead that held until the final out was recorded.
“The kids are learning how to feel like they can win,” NH-S coach Chris Marchok said. “We were down 1-0, we were down 4-3, we were down 6-3, and these kids just expect to be able to keep fighting and come back. That is something they have developed this year.
“Coach (Rich) Clark’s crew is solid and tough and competes with such class.”
A highlight of the Lions’ five-run sixth was a booming two-out, three-run triple to center by Kaylee Harris that erased a 6-5 deficit and put the Lions on top 8-6.
“She’s one of my slappers, and she hits this triple,” Marchok said of Harris. “We called her out after the game and we’re cheering for her. My point was – ‘You had gone 0-for-2 your two previous at-bats – you didn’t dwell on that, you looked forward, and you envisioned your success,’ and she said, ‘Yeah, it’s not like there were two outs and two strikes, and we’re down.’ I said, ‘You weren’t thinking of that at all.’”
Earlier in the inning, Jackie Herbert hit a two-run double, Elena Shire and Dagny Mobley singled, and the Lions also benefitted from several Tennent miscues.
“What I have this year is a couple of kids on the mound who spread this air of ‘Hey, I’m not quitting,’” Marchok said. “That’s been a long time coming.”
Splitting time in the circle for the Lions was a pair of freshmen – Mabel Klossner and Mobley. Mobley started the game and allowed four hits and two runs (one earned) while striking out four and walking two. Klossner threw the final three innings, allowing two hits and one earned run while striking out eight and walking two.
“These pitchers – they’re 14 and 15,” Marchok said. “Their facial expressions, the way they compete no matter if they struck a kid out or there was an error or they gave up a bomb – they look the same every time.
“When I was playing, I really had to work to keep my emotions in control, and they do a really cool job of it.”
For the Panthers, Sydney Teufel led the way with a 2-for-4 day at the plate that included a double, RBI and run scored. Her RBI double in the fifth gave the Panthers a 4-3 lead. Rylie O’Toole was 1-for-3 with an RBI.
For the Panthers, Shire was 2-for-4 out of the leadoff spot with three runs scored. Mobley was 1-for-3 with an RBI and run scored. Herbert doubled to plate a pair and Harris hit a bases-clearing triple that scored three runs.
“What’s fun is honestly – and I’ve used that phrase – they are learning how to compete,” Marchok said. “We still have a long way to go to stick with these teams like Tennent, Upper Moreland and Plymouth Whitemarsh tomorrow. We have a long way to go, but man, we’ve started the journey.”
New Hope-Solebury (5-2, 4-1 SOL) will host Plymouth Whitemarsh in a crossover game Tuesday, and William Tennent (5-2, 4-2) will host Quakertown in a crossover game Thursday.

Non-league
NESHAMINY 9, ARCHBISHOP RYAN 3
The visiting Raiders led 3-0 after two innings, but the Redskins owned the rest of the game, reeling off nine unanswered runs for the non-league win.
“Ryan did a great job coming out and being aggressive – they are a good team,” Neshaminy coach Sarah Martoccio said. “We came out of the gates with a slower start, but we woke our bats up in the third.”
After going down in order the first two innings, the Redskins scored three in the third to knot the score 3-3. Back-to-back walks to lead off the inning set the stage for Erica Miller’s line drive double to right field that plated a pair. Lily Mormello’s sacrifice fly accounted for the third run.
A five-run bottom of the fifth began with three straight singles by Olivia Hughes, Mormello and Morgan Volgraf with Volgraf’s plating a pair. Zahmira Coppola-Miller’s double to center plated Volgraf, and the Redskins led 6-3.
Morgan Leonhauser’s sacrifice fly pushed another run across, and an RBI double by Jillian Rickhards gave the Redskins an 8-3 advantage. Coppola-Miller’s two-out RBI single in the sixth gave the Redskins their final margin of victory.
Mormello was 2-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and two runs scored. Coppola-Miller was 2-for-4 with a double two RBIs and one run scored. Ellie Miller was 1-for-3 with two RBIs.
“We had some young players come out today with a fire under them, which is really exciting to see for our program,” Martoccio said. “Our junior and senior leadership has done a great job setting the expectations, and I am really looking forward to the next few weeks where we are put to the test, playing four-game weeks for the rest of April.”
Neshaminy (2-2, 1-2 SOL) will host North Penn in a crossover game Tuesday.
