Jackie Morell fanned nine and walked one while allowing just three hits in a winning effort in the circle for the Owls. The senior pitcher now has 83 strikeouts on the season.
The Owls took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first. Lauren Morell, who was safe on an error, scored on a groundout by Kelsey Dekoyer.
The Panthers got that run back in the third when Jackie Heim, who had doubled, scored on an RBI single by Jackie Flores.
In the fifth inning, Dekoyer hit a one-out single, and Erin McVicar ripped a two-run home run to give the Owls their final margin of victory.
“It was a nice win,” coach Dan Schram said. “It was a beautiful day for softball. Both teams played well.”
