PENNSBURY 18, CONWELL-EGAN 3 (4 innings)
Monday’s game figured to be a war between the neighboring rivals.
After all, Conwell-Egan was coming off a big win over SOL Patriot Division leader Council Rock North and had lost to Central Bucks West by just one run in a tightly contested battle.
Any thoughts that the Falcons might have their hands full were put to rest in a hurry when they erupted for seven first-inning runs, and they were just getting started.
Pennsbury added four more in the third and brought an early end to the game with a seven-run fourth inning.
All told, the Falcons pounded out 16 hits in the abbreviated game. Liv Czerniak’s three-hit effort led the offensive charge. Bella Morales, Jenna Thompson, Aubrey Bedell and Ryen Rittersbach each had two hits. Keira Hoffman came off the bench and in an impressive showing got a pair of hits – both doubles.
Thompson and Morales both had three RBIs while Czerniak, Bedell and Hoffman each had two RBIs.
Kylie Dressel and Caitlynn Godsell combined for the win in the circle, allowing three hits and three runs.
By the numbers: Liv Czerniak (3-for-3, 2B, 2RBI, 3R), Bella Morales (2-for-4, 3B, 3RBI, 3R), Jenna Thompson (2-for-3, 2B, 3RBI), Aubrey Bedell (2-for-3,
2B, 2RBI, 1R), Keira Hoffman (2-for-2, 2 2B, 2RBI), Ryen Rittersbach (2-for-4)
Pennsbury coach Frank McSherry: “We had our hitting shoes on today, for sure. Conwell-Egan just beat Council Rock North, who beat us 8-0. It is a topsy turvy year, but we really did have our hitting shoes on. Sixteen hits in four innings – that’s saying something.
“I think our hitting has really, really progressed through this year. I hate to keep harping on the fact that we have seven kids who we had to replace, so as a result, we have seven kids who either never played varsity or had very little varsity experience. We’re kind of proud of the progress they’ve made.”
Up next: Pennsbury (6-6, 2-3 SOL) will travel to Quakertown for a non-league game Tuesday.
