CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 3, PLYMOUTH WHITEMARSH 2
The Bucks bounced back from a nine-inning 1-0 loss to Upper Moreland Tuesday to hand the Colonials their first loss since March 19, a loss that snapped PW’s eight-game winning streak.
Ana Glemser threw another outstanding game for the Bucks, allowing one earned run in the complete game win. She struck out eight while throwing 138 pitches- 86 for strikes. This was the second game in a row where Glemser only gave up one earned run and has only given up a total of four earned runs over her last three outings.
Taylor Hooven – who drove in the game-winner with an RBI single in the third – remained red hot at the plate, going 2-for-4 on the day. She raised her average to .489 on the season, collecting 22 hits in 45 at bats.
Third basemen Laila Murray had a productive day with a single and two RBIs. Center fielder Jill Boyle had a hit and scored two of the three runs for West. Glemser helped her own cause by collecting two hits on the day including a hard hit double into the right center field gap in the two-run third inning for the Bucks.
Freshmen right fielder Taylor Sheplock drew two walks on the day and stole a base in the winning effort.
Rian Reed and Madison Moran split time in the circle for the Colonials.
By the numbers: Central Bucks West: Ana Glemser (2-for-4, 2B), Taylor Hooven (2-for-4, 1RBI), Laila Murray (2 RBIs)
Ana Glemser (W) (7.0 IP, 5H, 2R, 1ER, 2BB, 8K)
Plymouth Whitemarsh: Anna Powel (2B)
Key inning: Top of third: Trailing 2-1, the Bucks put a pair of runs on the board. With one out, Jill Boyle lined a single to right, and Glemser followed with a double, Boyle scored the tying run on Murray’s groundout, and Taylor Hooven’s RBI single gave the Bucks a 3-2 lead they would not lose.
Central Bucks West coach Mike Daher: “This was great win for us against a very strong Plymouth Whitemarsh team. Tuesday, we lost a very
tough nine-inning game against Upper Moreland, so we were unsure how we would come out and play today. But our girls were able to put that tough loss behind them and really focus themselves on beating PW.
“We had great energy throughout the entire game, got great pitching from Ana again and played solid defense for seven straight innings. Our defense and pitching have really come together for us and if we keep hitting the way we are capable of hitting, I think we can be a tough team to beat going down the stretch. I am super proud of the way our girls played and happy that they were able to put a difficult loss behind them and to come out and play the way they did today.”
–Props: “The other positives for us today were that assistant coach Greg Glemser called a great game for Ana Glemser, and coach Steve Ryan, who works with our hitters did an excellent job keeping our girls focused at the plate against two very good PW pitchers.
“And finally, Freshmen catcher Evi Cherry did a commendable job catching Ana in place of our starting catcher Sammy Hooven, who was out sick today. And what else can I say about Taylor Hooven except that she has been on an absolute tear of late with ten hits in her last four games. She is hitting .588 during that span of four games.”
Up next: Central Bucks West (8-5, 2-3 SOL) will travel to North Penn Tuesday, and Plymouth Whitemarsh (8-4, 5-0) will be on the road at Quakertown Tuesday.

HATBORO-HORSHAM 8, CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 0
Kennedy Conn tossed a three-hit gem and helped her own cause with a pair of hits and a two RBIs, propelling the Hatters to the impressive shutout win. Conn struck out 11 in a dominant effort in the circle.
The win was especially welcome for a Hatters’ squad that has had the corner of the market in one-run losses this season – they’ve had five one-run losses and another loss by two runs.
“It was one of those things, and I kept telling them – ‘Keep doing what you’re doing, and eventually things will fall our way,’” Hatters’ coach Bob Sadowl said. “It’s good to see them come back and play strong against South.”
Maya Ravi and Sydney Cassel also had two hits in the win.
By the numbers: Hatboro-Horsham: Kennedy Conn (W) (7.0 IP, 3H, 0R, 2BB, 11K)
Maya Ravi (2-for-4, Kennedy Conn (2-for-4, 2B, 2RBI), Sydney Cassel (2-for-3, 2B, 1RBI, 1R), Annabelle Deacon (1-for-2, 2B, 1RBI, 2R), Maddie Karpovich (3B, 1RBI), Adrianna DeLeon (2B)
Key innings: Bottom of third: Ravi and Cara Neeld opened the inning with back-to-back singles. Neeld stole third and scored on an error. Deacon drew a walk, and the Hatters’ second run scored on Isabella Karpovich’s bunt. Conn helped her own cause with an RBI double, and the Hatters led 3-0.
Bottom of sixth: DeLeon drew a leadoff walk, moved up to second on Molly Harrington’s sacrifice and scored when Cassel doubled to right field. With two outs, Neeld was safe on an error that scored Cassel. Maddie Karpovich tripled to right field, plating Neeld. Isabella Karpovich singled, and Conn’s RBI single put the Hatters on top 8-0.
Hatboro-Horsham coach Bob Sadowl: “We finally got some timely hitting and executed a bunt when we had to early in the game. “
–Conn in command: “Kennedy Conn absolutely pitched lights out against a very good hitting team. If you look at South, they average somewhere north of five or six runs a game. She threw a three-hit shutout, and on top of that, she had 11 strikeouts and walked two – one of those (with two outs) in the seventh inning when we were up 8-0 already. She pitched really good.”
–Props: “A girl we brought up from the JV – Annabelle Deacon – is doing a really good job. She had a home run against West, and she had a nice double today.
“Maddie (Karpovich) got a triple with a runner on and knocked in a run. (Maya) Ravi had two hits today.”
“A big thing today was Sydney Cassel – she was struggling at the plate, and she had a key hit that got everything going in our six-run inning.”
Up next: Hatboro-Horsham (6-8, 1-4 SOL) will host Abington on Tuesday, and Central Bucks South (7-6, 3-2) will host Central Bucks East on Tuesday.

CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 10, WISSAHICKON 0 (5 innings)
Sarah Zmuda was on top of her game.
After issuing a leadoff walk in the bottom of the first, the Patriots’ ace retired the next 15 batters she faced. The walk to Giuliana Schumann was the Trojans’ lone baserunner in the abbreviated contest. Zmuda struck out 10 in a superb outing in the circle.
“Sarah walked one girl in the first inning, or she would have had a perfect game,” East coach Karl Knapp said. “She’s just been on fire the last two games. She’s really hitting her spots and doing well.”
Hailey Helmstetter continued to swing a hot bat, finishing 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles, two RBIs and three runs scored. Mae Mahony was 3-for-3 with a double and three RBIs, and Olivia Owtscharuk also was 3-for-3 in a contest that saw the Patriots pound out 12 hits.
By the numbers: Central Bucks East: Sarah Zmuda (W) (5.0 IP, 0H, 0R, 1BB, 10K)
Hailey Helmstetter (3-for-4, 2 2B, 2RBI, 3R), Mae Mahony (3-for-3, 2B, 3RBI), Olivia Owtscharuk (3-for-3, 1R)
Key inning: Top of first: Anna Devine drew a leadoff walk, moved up to second on a bunt by Owtscharuk, advanced to third on Helmstetter’s single and was one of two players to cross the plate on a Wiss miscue, and East had a 2-0 lead on its way to the mercy rule win.
Central Bucks East coach Karl Knapp:
“Defensively, Kaylee Masterson in center ran down a ball hit to the fence, actually ran into the fence making a catch over her head. Elena Bhatt had two diving catches in right field for outs. It was just really good defense. We had no errors today, which is big.
“We’re getting good hitting, especially out of our four hitter, Hailey Helmstetter. She’s just really been crushing the ball. It’s been working good but we’ll get tested tomorrow with Souderton.”
Up next: Central Bucks East (6-6, 1-4 SOL) will travel to Souderton on Friday, and Wissahickon (6-8, 1-4) will host Villa Maria Academy in a non-league game Friday.

NEW HOPE-SOLEBURY 12, NESHAMINY 5
New Hope-Solebury – the top-ranked team in Class 2A – faced an ambitious schedule this week.
“We looked at this week, and I was excited for it with CB South, Neshaminy and tomorrow Upper Dublin,” NH-S coach Chris Marchok said. “It continues to prepare us.
“To be able to come back from a 5-3 deficit and win against a very good Neshaminy team – we’re very happy.”
The Lions fell to CB South Tuesday by one run but gave the Titans all they could handle in a 7-6 loss
“On Tuesday, we were down 5-0 and then we were down 7-3,” Marchok said. “The game ends with a line drive up the middle being caught on a really nice play by CB South’s second baseman (Maura Fleming), but that would have tied the game.”
Trailing 5-3, the visiting Lions scored nine unanswered runs to earn the impressive non-league win.
Dagny Mobley’s four-hit effort led the Lions while Mabel Klossner had three hits – two doubles and a home run – and four RBIs. Emily Wilson had three hits while Danielle Wilson and Bianca Elizondo both had two hits.
By the numbers: New Hope-Solebury: Danielle Wilson (2-for-5, 2R, on base 4 of 5 trips to the plate), Bianca Elizondo (2-for-3, 2B, 2R), Emily Wilson (3-for-5, 2B, 1RBI, 3R), Mabel Klossner (3-for-4, 2 2B, HR, 4RBI, 3R), Dagny Mobley (4-for-5, 2 2B, 1RBI)
Mabel Klossner (2 IP, 2H, 0R 1BB, 4K)
Neshaminy: Jill Rickards (2-for-4, 2B, 1RBI, 1R), Aimee Benjamin (3B)
Key inning: Top of fourth: Trailing 5-3, the Lions put three runs on the board to take a lead they would not lose. With one out, Danielle Wilson was safe on an error, and she scored when Emily Wilson doubled to center. Klossner received an intentional walk, and Mobley followed with an RBI double. Rachel Sim delivered a sac fly to plate a run that put the Lions on top 6-5.
New Hope-Solebury coach Chris Marchok on the game: “The kids were definitely hitting, and the beautiful thing – we had seven different kids with hits tonight. Their pitcher is a nice little pitcher, and she is tough to find a pattern on, but the kids stuck with it and picked up some nice offense. With seven of the nine spots picking up hits, we were really happy with the overall effort.”
–The Mobley/Klossner effect: “Mabel was 3-for-4 with four RBIs, and Dagny was 4-for-5 with three doubles. Mabel had a home run, two doubles and an intentional walk. The thing is if you start talking about them – they don’t want to hear it. What they are concerned with is always giving 100 percent max best effort for the team. For me, coaching the two of them is just wonderful. I think they make each other better, and together, they make us all better.
“Mabel leads us off with a two-run home run– it’s her seventh home run of the year. Then she comes up with a double that’s probably harder than the home run and has another double later. She came in on the mound. There is nothing half-hearted about either of those two kids. Today Mabel came in and asserted herself offensively, asserted herself defensively on the mound.
“Our kids don’t quit because we’ve got two kids at the heart of it all who are not quitters, and they’re about everybody else before themselves. We as a coaching staff talk about servant leadership. We talk about these kids doing for others – let’s do everything we can for each other today, and it’s led by the two most talented kids on the team who are 100 percent that way.”
–Props: “Danielle (Wilson) had two hits, but more importantly, she was on base four out of five times. Back when I was coaching travel, that’s when I started to see in our game – it’s so quick and you’re putting such pressure on (when you’re a slapper), and that’s what Dani does. She’s never done it before. This is a 14-year-old kid that’s never slapped, and she’s putting pressure on these teams time and time again. It’s fantastic to watch.
“Dani’s sister, Emily Wilson, goes 3-for-5. The ball was all over the field – left center, right center. Emily has worked so hard at trying to grow her offensive game, and she’s such a sincere, wonderful and terrific kid that you just love to see her have success like that.”
Up next: New Hope-Solebury (8-4, 4-1 SOL) will be on the road at Upper Dublin for a non-league game Friday, and Neshaminy (5-6, 3-2) will host Council Rock South on Tuesday.

PENNSBURY 8, WILLIAM TENNENT 4
The Falcons found themselves on the short end of a 3-2 score early in Thursday’s game but erased that deficit with a five-run fourth inning to take a lead they would not lose.
Bella Morales led the Falcons with three hits – including a double and triple. Jenna Thompson and Gia Ranniello both had two hits and two RBIs, and Liv Czerniak also had two hits.
Kylie Dressel earned the complete game win.
For the Falcons, Sydney Teufel led the way with two hits, including a double.
By the numbers: Pennsbury: Bella Morales (3-for-4, 2B, 3B, 1RBI, 2R), Jenna Thompson (2-for-3, 2RBI), Liv Czerniak (2-for-2, 1RBI, 2R), Gia Ranniello (2-for-3, 2B, 2RBI)
William Tennent: Sydney Teufel (2-for-4, 2B), Rylie O’Toole (2B), Teagan Noll (2B)
Key inning: Bottom of fourth: Gia Ranniello’s 2-run double highlighted the inning that also included a sac fly by Liv Czerniak and an RBI triple by Bella Morales. An error allowed a fifth run to cross the plate, and the Falcons, who trailed 3-2 entering the inning, were on top 7-3.
Pennsbury coach Frank McSherry:
–Impressive debut: “When we played Quakertown Tuesday, we had a freshman – Gia Ranniello – start for the first time behind the plate as catcher, and she hit a game-winning home run in the sixth inning. Today she was 2-for-3 with a two-run double, which turned out to be the game-winning run also. She had been playing JV, and we were looking for someone to do something to give us a little more offense in our lineup.
“Aubrey Bedell is also a freshman, and she was catching for us, but she’s a third baseman, so she was really helping us out. We had to keep her bat in the lineup, so we moved her to designated player. Gia is a catcher, and she came up and caught the last two games and has done a pretty good job.”
Up next: Pennsbury (8-6, 2-3 SOL) will travel to Harry S Truman on Tuesday, and William Tennent (9-4, 4-1) will be on the road at Upper Moreland Tuesday.

PENNRIDGE 5, ABINGTON 3
The visiting Rams found themselves on the short end of a 3-0 score heading into the top of the seventh when – aided by a pair of Abington miscues – they erupted for five runs to earn the come-from-behind win.
Averi Dockery delivered the game’s biggest blow – a two-out, three-run home run to center field, turning a 3-1 deficit into a 4-3 lead with one swing of her powerful bat.
Dockery – who threw three scoreless innings to open the contest – returned to the game and threw a scoreless bottom of seventh to seal the win. The Florida State bound senior struck out 10 in four innings.
Abington’s Sam Wenhold was working on a gem of her own, taking a no-hitter into the sixth inning when Jadyn Gulbinski hit a one-out single. The Rams bunched four of their five hits in the seventh inning when they plated five unearned runs.
By the numbers: Pennridge: Jadyn Gulbinski (2-for-3, 1R), Averi Dockery (1-for-3, HR 3RBI, 1R), Emersyn Lesher (2B, RBI) Averi Dockery (4 IP, 2H, 0R, 0BB, 10K)
Key inning: Top of seventh: Jules Pliszka and Meghan Holberg reached base on back-to-back errors to open the inning, and both advanced on Madison Heinrich’s sacrifice bunt. Payton Keyser lined an RBI single to right field, and with two outs and two on, Dockery smashed the first pitch she saw for a three-run home run to center field. Jadyn Gulbinski followed with a single, and she scored on Emersyn Lesher’s double to left field, giving the Rams a 5-3 lead.
Pennridge coach Kristyn Marinelli: “Abington played a well fought game against us – credit to them. Sam Wenhold kept us off balance. They’re well coached, and we were prepared for them to put the ball in play against us.”
–Props: “Averi kept them off balance- she was stellar on the mound. Of course, her clutch home run to put us ahead in the seventh was an incredible morale booster. We discussed how it took runners on base to make one swing worth more than one run, and I’m proud of the girls who were tasked with and succeeded in not giving up in the seventh inning to win the game.”
Up next: Pennridge (5-8, 1-4 SOL) will travel to Souderton on Tuesday, and Abington (2-9, 1-4) will be on the road at Hatboro-Horsham Tuesday.

SOUDERTON 11, UPPER DUBLIN 2
Don’t be fooled by the final score.
The Indians took a tenuous 2-1 lead into the sixth inning when they erupted for four runs to seize control of the tightly contested game.
Skyler Byrnes notched the complete game win, allowing just three hits and one earned run. She struck out five and walked two. She also had a big day at the plate, finishing 3-for-4 with a double, three RBIs and two runs. Fadden had two hits, including a double, and three RBIs. Emma Messmer had a pair of hits.
By the numbers: Souderton: Skyler Byrnes (3-for-4, 2B, 3RBI, 2R), Kiera Fadden (2-for-5, 2B, 4RBI, 2R), Emma Messmer (2-for-4, 2R)
Skyler Byrnes (W) (7 IP, 3H, 2R, 1 ER, 2BB, 5K)
Upper Dublin: Kate Brannigan (1-for-3, 2B, 1R)
Key inning: Top of sixth: The Indians led by just a 2-1 score after five innings. Josi Tolentino led off the top of the sixth with a walk and was replaced by pinch runner Caylee DeSimone, who advanced to third on Messmer’s single. Byrnes singled home DeSimone, and Kendal Nelson walked to load the bases. Bella Kreyenhagen’s sac fly plated Messmer, and two runs scored on Fadden’s line single to center to put the Indians on top 6-1.
Souderton coach Tyler Bui: The score does not indicate how close the game was today. (Kyla) Garrison was tough for them on the mound, and they played excellent defense. Upper Dublin is a team that will make a good post-season run this year. Skyler Byrnes was on top of her game today and only gave up three hits. I was extremely proud of the at-bats at the bottom of our order. They worked deep counts and came up with some big hits for us.”
–Props: “Emma Messmer continues to come up with big hits for us. She isn’t afraid to hit with two strikes, and just gets the job done. She also played an amazing game at second. She made a beautiful play up the middle and picked and in between hop at first base on a bunt.
“Bella Kreyenhagen usually gets praised for her pitching, but lately, she has been squaring up balls consistently at the plate and contributing in a big way for us. It’s hard not to have confidence as a coach when I see her at the plate.”
Up next: Souderton (11-2, 4-1 SOL) will host Central Bucks East on Friday, and Upper Dublin (8-2, 4-1) will host New Hope-Solebury in a non-league game for its Strike Out the Stigma event Friday.

NORTH PENN 10, QUAKERTOWN 0 (6 innings)
Felicia Connolly turned in a brilliant outing in the circle in the six-inning shutout, allowing four hits while striking out 12 and walking none.
“She’s pitching really well,” NP coach Rick Torresani said. “She’s getting stronger. She was injured earlier in the season. She’s getting her strength back and is able to throw every one of her pitches. There were a couple of pitches she couldn’t throw, but she’s doing well now. She’s a strong kid. She hasn’t reached her max yet, but she’s getting there, and once she gets there, she’s going to be a pretty darn good pitcher.”
Connolly, Mady Archer, Alana Battavio and Gabriella Brigidi each had two hits. Halfpenny’s three RBIs led the Knights.
By the numbers: North Penn: Felicia Connolly (W) (6 IP, 4H, 0R, 0BB, 12K)
Mady Archer (2-for-3, 2B, 1RBI), Alana Battavio (2-for-3, 2B, 1RBI, 1R), Gabriella Brigidi (2-for-3, 2RBI, 1R), Felicia Connolly (2-for-4), Cailin Halfpenny (3 RBIs)
Key inning: Top of fourth: Gabby Battavio led off the inning with a single, and Alana Battavio walked. Brigidi legged out a bunt single to load the bases, and Gabby Battavio scored on a Panther miscue on the play. Lia DiLorenzo walked to load the bases again. Halfpenny’s sac fly plated a run, and the Knights led 2-0.
North Penn coach Rick Torresani:
–Archer stepping up: “Mady is a senior who was on JV last year. She’s an outfielder who has been playing first base for us the whole season. She’s starting to hit and doing everything right. We’re very happy.”
–Rookies impress: “(Gabriella Brigidi) and Alana (Battavio) are ninth graders. They’re good players, and they’re just getting into a flow where now they realize – ‘Hey, I’m a varsity player,’ and they’re relaxed. They’re fast, and they’re just doing really well, and that makes us really good one through nine.”
–Halfpenny shines in leadoff spot: “She was a DP for the last two years as a freshman and sophomore. This year, I said, ‘You’re going to hit until you tell me you don’t want to hit anymore.’ She’s hitting leadoff and she’s doing a really good job.”
Up next: North Penn (7-6, 4-1 SOL) will host Central Bucks West on Tuesday, and Quakertown (5-8, 3-2) will host Plymouth Whitemarsh on Tuesday.
