SOL Liberty Division
HATBORO-HORSHAM 14, WISSAHICKON 0
Twenty-four hours after Pennsbury earned a walk-off win over the Hatters, they bounced back for a decisive road win over the Trojans.
“Yesterday’s loss was tough, but the girls demonstrated and recognized what they are capable of,” Hatters’ coach Jen Tooley said. “Today, it took
us a while to string some hits together to get on the board. Alyssa Tooley did a great job keeping Wissahickon off the bases; providing just enough motivation for the team to get quality at bats to get on base and score a few runs to get the win.”
Alyssa Tooley tossed an impressive complete game shutout. She struck out 11 and walked one.
For five innings, neither team could generate all that much offense, but in the fifth, the Hatters staged a two-out rally. The rally began when Cara Neeld drew a walk, and Amya Lundy was hit by a pitch. Abby Waeltz brought the game’s first run across with a ground single to center. Two walks and a Trojan miscue set the stage for Isabella Karpovich’s two-run single that put the Hatters on top 6-0.
The Hatters added three runs in the sixth and five more in the seventh.
“(Emma) Dutill did a nice job keeping our hitters off balance and her defense kept us scoreless four innings,” coach Tooley said of the Trojans’ pitcher.
In addition to tossing a one-hitter, Tooley also was a catalyst at the top of the lineup, finishing the game 4-for-5 with a double and run scored. Waeltz was 2-for-5 with an RBI and three runs scored while Tess Kearney was 2-for-4 with four RBIs and a run scored.
Hatboro-Horsham (2-3, 2-0 SOL) will host Plymouth Whitemarsh next Tuesday, and Wissahickon (1-4, 0-2) will be on the road at Quakertown next Tuesday.

QUAKERTOWN 9, CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 1
The Panthers broke a 1-1 tie with three runs in the bottom of the fourth and added five more in the sixth in Tuesday’s non-league win.
“It was a good team win,” Quakertown coach Dave Scott said. “It was kind of a trap game for us. After a good win against Neshaminy on Friday and Pennridge tomorrow, the girls could have overlooked this game.
“We did not play our best game, but we got enough offense to win. Pretty much the entire lineup had at least one hit, so that was excellent.”
Quakertown struck first with a run in the bottom of the first. Ava Beal lined a leadoff single to left and stole second, and with two outs, she scored when Leah Schwalm doubled to center field.
The Bucks evened the score with a run in the third. Julia Thomas led off the inning with a single, and with one out, Chloe Dryden singled to center. An error in the outfield allowed Thomas to score on the play.
In the pivotal fourth inning, Grace Baker was safe on a one out error, and Mary Wilkinson followed with a double to center. A Cadence Lewis single plated Baker, and Wilkinson scored on a bunt single by Skyler Williams. The Panthers led 4-1 when Lewis scored on Beal’s groundout.
The Panthers’ five-run sixth included singles by Williams, Beal and Katie Muller, a walk and a pair of West miscues.
Abbey Wagner notched the complete game win, allowing four hits and one run while striking out 10 and walking one.
Beal was 3-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored out of the leadoff spot.
“Ava Beal was a real catalyst for us today,” Scott said. “She was on base every at-bat and scored three runs.”
Also for the Panthers, Lewis was 2-for-2 with a double, RBI and two runs scored, and Williams was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored.
Dryden’s 2-for-3 effort at the plate led the Bucks.
Quakertown (6-0, 3-0 SOL) will travel to Pennridge for a non-league game Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. Central Bucks West (2-2, 1-1) will host Archbishop Wood in a non-league game on Wednesday.

PLYMOUTH WHITEMARSH 7, AVON GROVE 1
The Colonials pounded out 15 hits – five for extra bases – while Molly Moore and Rian Reed got the job done in the circle, limiting the Red Devils to just three hits and one run.
“It was a nice team victory today on the road,” PW coach Mike Perez said. “(Megan) McKeown is a great pitcher who works around the plate.
“Our hitters were patiently aggressive when they saw something to hit and did a great job using the right side of the field. Nine different girls got hits, with seven different girls knocking in our seven runs. It was a total team effort.”
The Colonials scored a single run in the each of the first four innings. In the first, Marissa Perez led off with her first of three hits on the day and scored when Moore ripped a triple to center field.
In the second inning, it was a similar scenario, but this rally came with two outs and nobody on base. Kalina Childers lined a two-out single to center and scored when Joslyn Perez laced a triple to right field that put PW on top 2-0.
PW’s third triple of the game was part of the third inning run. Reed collected a one-out triple to center and scored when Sam Skivo followed with a single to center. In the fourth inning, Powel was safe on an error to lead off the frame, and Childers followed with a single. One out later, PW’s fourth run crossed the plate on Marissa Perez’s groundout.
Avon Grove scored its only run in the bottom of the fourth to make it a 4-1 game, but the Colonials answered with a three-run fifth. Skivo and Caelin Kosvitch (RBI) opened the inning with back-to-back doubles. Jenna Yablon’s single plated Kosvitch, and Yablon raced home on Powel’s line single to right field
Leading the Colonials’ hit parade was Marissa Perez, who was 3-for-5 with an RBI and run scored out of the leadoff spot. Also contributing multi-hit games were Skivo (2-for-4, 2B, RBI, 1R), Kosvitch (2-for-4, 2B, RBI, 1R), Childers (2-for-3, 1R) and Joslyn Perez (2-for-4, 3B, RBI).
Moore notched the win in the circle, allowing two hits and one run in four innings while striking out six and walking one. Reed allowed one hit in three shutout innings to close out the game. She fanned two and did not walk a batter.
“Our defense made the plays they needed to make behind Molly and Rian, who were excellent in the circle vs a tough Avon Grove lineup,” coach Perez said. “We were just really excited to get back on the field after last week’s (7-1) loss to Quakertown. We didn’t play our best that day and wanted to put that behind us and move on.

BENSALEM 2, BRISTOL 0
The Owls picked up their first win of the season with a shutout of the Warriors.
“Over the last few games, we have had really good innings, but we also had one or two bad innings,” Bensalem coach Erin Smith said. “We have spent the last few practices focusing back on basics and it helped a ton.”
Bristol loaded the bases with two out in the top of the first.
“Kayla (Clarkson) tossed her first strikeout of the game to end the threat,” Smith said.
The Owls put a run on the board in the first when Megan Klein singled and took second on a defensive miscue. She scored on a two-out RBI single up the middle by Lina Sponheimer.
“Bristol attempted to start a rally in the third inning when their leadoff batter hit a single to right center, but center fielder Ayva Knowles did a great job cutting the ball off and firing a dart to second to throw her out attempting to stretch it to a double,” Smith said.
The Owls added an insurance run in the bottom of the third.
“Sophomore Adrianna Vargas led off the inning with a laser home-run to left field – the first of her career,” Smith said. “Adrianna has been seeing the ball well but just missing, today’s hit was a missile. The wind was blowing straight in, and it still got out in a hurry.”
Kayla Clarkson allowed just two hits in the complete game shutout win, striking out 11 and walking two.
Lina Sponheimer was 1-for-2 with an RBI. She also reached base on an intentional walk.
“Lina has been seeing the ball really well – she had six hits in her last six at-bats heading into today and started off with a single,” Smith said. “Her streak ended when she smoked a ball that Bristol’s second baseman made a diving stop on.
“Megan Klein had a slow start to the season but looked to be herself today and was 2-for-3 with a stolen base and a run scored.
“Bristol has a talented pitcher in freshman Brianna Slack. She hits her spots and has a really nice changeup.”

UPPER DUBLIN 12, GWYNEDD MERCY 4
Gwynedd Mercy and Upper Dublin entered Tuesday’s non-league game ranked second and third respectively in the District 1 5A power rankings. Both came into the game with identical 4-1 records.
After the Cards notched the come-from-behind win, they vaulted not only over the Monarchs but also previously top-seeded Penncrest.
“This was an important one,” UD coach Heather Boyer said. “This was a good matchup.
“The last few years we competed and then kind of gave it away. This year, we went up 2-0, they came back and made it 2-2 and then they went up 4-2.
“Then we collected ourselves and put a nice crooked number up in the bottom of that inning, which was important.”
That crooked number was an eight, and the Cardinals went from being down 4-2 to going on top 10-4. Bella Fiore led off the inning with a single and Kaitlyn Small drew a walk.
“Anna Levin laid down a great sacrifice bunt that they miscued, and we had a run score there,” Boyer said. “We just started making things happen from there.
“Bella came up later in that inning and had two strikes on her, and she did a great job of hitting an outside pitch to right center field for a two-run double. It’s been a good team effort across the board the last three wins we had.
“Each time it’s very unassuming – kind of quiet, just going in and doing the things we’ve been practicing since the fall. We’ve been working on technique and just being consistent, maintaining our poise and composure while building confidence. It’s starting to click.”
Fiore was a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBIs, two runs scored and a stolen base. Kaelin Penna was 2-for-5 with an RBI, stolen base and run scored. Madden Reilly was 2-for-5 with an RBI double in the fifth, and Kyla Garrison was 2-for-5 with a two-run double in the sixth to close out the scoring.
Garrison also notched the complete game win, allowing seven hits and four runs (three earned) while striking out six and walking four.
“Kyla has been wonderful,” Boyer said. “She’s fun to coach, she works hard, she’s very focused and again, very quiet and unassuming. She’s not flashy – she trusts her stuff. She’s very poised, and she’s maintaining really good composure on the mound. That’s a big spot for a young pitcher coming in and taking over the circle there.
“Not only is she doing it in the circle, but she’s our two hole hitter right now, and she’s hitting the ball hard and coming up with big hits. She had a two-run double in the sixth, so she’s helping her cause on both sides of the game. It’s exciting to see such a young player starting to break out a little bit.”
For Gwynedd, Lexi Weiss was 3-for-4 with a double, RBI and run scored. Natalie Kelley was 2-for-3 with two RBIs, and Brea Mahoney was 2-for-4 with two runs scored.
Upper Dublin (5-1, 2-1 SOL) will travel to Abington on Tuesday.

UPPER MORELAND 5, DOCK MENNONITE 4
The Golden Bears trailed 4-0 heading into the fifth inning when they began a comeback that resulted in an impressive non-league win.
“This is a nice win for us – I’m pretty happy about this,” UM coach Melanie Martino said. “I know they’re a small school, but they win a lot.”
The Golden Bears’ slow start could be attributed in part to the fact that they arrived at Dock well before game time.
“It was a lot of sitting, and I was thinking to myself, ‘You’re not going to be ready to play,’” Martino said. “I kept pushing them, and at the end I said – ‘Do you see why I push? This is why I push because you guys were asleep to start the game.’ It was the first warm game, which I expected was going to be an issue.”
Dock plated a run in the second and added three more in the third.
“Dock capitalized on some mistakes in the third,” Martino said. “Our bats took some time to wake up and get started today, but they finally did.”
The Golden Bears scored three runs in the fifth powered by RBIs by Haleigh Woodman and Ryan Ricchini.
“Alyssa Wiley also continues to be hot for us at bat and makes things happen,” Martino said.
The Bears evened the score in the sixth, and Zoe Longstreth scored the game-winner in the top of the seventh.
Sophomore Kelly Bates notched the complete game win, allowing six hits while striking out two and walking none.
“I am so incredibly proud of how this team continues to battle each and every game,” Martino said.

PENNRIDGE 15, COATESVILLE 6
The Rams’ bats were on fire in Tuesday night’s non-league game against the visiting Red Raiders. The collected 14 hits – which included four home runs – and led 6-0 after three innings on their way to the decisive win.
“Each game we are seeing improvements on one side of the ball,” Pennridge coach Wendy Iadonisi said. “Today it was our bats making up for our miscues in the field. We’ve been leaving a lot of runners on base but today was a different story.”
The Rams took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second when Averi Dockery hit a two-run blast over the center field fence that plated Reagan Bauman, who singled to lead off the inning.
It turned out the Rams were just getting started. In the third inning, Ryleigh Lilly singled, and with two outs, Grace Helbling hit a two-run home run to left field to put the Rams on top 4-0. Bauman followed with a single, and Dockery smashed her second home run of the night – another two-run shot to put the Rams on top 6-0.
“You gotta love a pitcher that is a threat at the plate as well,” Iadonisi said. “Averi pitched a great game.”
After Coatesville scored three runs in the top of the fifth, the Rams answered with two in the bottom of the inning. Bauman’s RBI double accounted for the first run, and Ashleigh Kenworthy’s sacrifice fly put the Rams on top 8-3.
Coatesville trimmed that lead to 8-6 in the top of the sixth only to see the Rams put seven on the board in the bottom of the inning. The big blow of the inning was a grand slam by Kenworthy. The inning also included an RBI double by Olivia Crognale and singles by Helbling and Bauman (RBI).
Dockery earned the complete game win, allowing eight hits and six runs (three earned) while striking out 12 and walking one.
“Even though our defense didn’t play as expected, our bats were really alive today,” Iadonisi said. “Every time Coatesville put some runs on the board, we answered back. Ashleigh Kenworthy broke open the game with a grand slam in the sixth. She’s been hitting the ball really solid for singles with nice line drives, so it was nice for her to come up big at the end of the game with the long ball.
“Having four home runs in a game is huge, but we also had players with multiple hits and all through the lineup we were hitting the ball hard. Coatesville had some nice defensive plays.”
Bauman’s 4-for-4 effort with a double, two RBIs and three runs led the Rams’ 14-hit attack. Helbling was 3-for-4 with a home run, two RBIs and three runs. Dockery was 2-for-3 with a home run, five RBIs and three runs, and Kenworthy was also 2-for-3 with a home run and five RBIs. She scored one run.
“It’s so early in the season and we have some things to clean up but I’m happy with their resilience at this point and am excited to see what this group will do,” Iadonisi said. “We are going to use the next couple non-league outings to continue to play aggressive and build some momentum getting into our league games.”
Pennridge (2-2, 0-2 SOL) will host Quakertown in a non-league game Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.

SOUDERTON 15, UPPER PERKIOMEN 1 (5 innings)
The Indians – sparked by a pair of Kayley York home runs – scored early and often on their way to the mercy rule win in non-league action Tuesday.
“The girls had a great day at the plate today,” Souderton coach Carol Atkinson said.
Souderton put three runs on the board in the first inning. Cameron Nadolski grounded a single to center to lead off the inning, and Olivia Plinke was hit by a pitch. Lily Ponce’s single to center plated Nadolski. Kendall Clemmer’s groundout scored a run, and Ponce raced home on a wild pitch.
A seven-run second was highlighted by York’s two-run home run to center as well as doubles by Nadolski (RBI) and Sierra Miller (2 RBIs) and singles from Madison Byrwa and Ponce (RBI).
The Indians added a run in the third when Brywa who doubled to center to lead off the inning, scored on Nadolski’s sacrifice fly to right.
In a four-run fourth, York smashed a three-run home to center, and Byrwa drove in the Indians’ final run with her second double of the game.
Byrwa was a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles, one RBI and two runs scored, and York was 2-for-3 with a pair of home runs, five RBIs and two runs scored to lead the Indians. Nadolski was 2-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and two runs out of the leadoff spot. Ponce was 2-for-2 with two RBIs and two runs.
McKenna Schroding (3IP, 3H, 1R, 4K, 1BB) and Lindsay Detwiler (2IP, 5K) shared time in the circle.

GARNET VALLEY 1, CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 0
Maddy Borowski pitched well enough to win on most days, allowing just three hits and one run while striking out 10, but the Jaguars needed just one run to eke out the non-league win.
“It was a good pitcher’s duel,” South coach Kevin Rosini said. “Their run scored in the second – it was walk, stolen base and bloop single. That was it.
“We had a runner as far as third base in the first inning, we had a runner at second base in the third inning, and we had a runner on second base in the seventh inning. We had a leadoff single, we got her to second but couldn’t get her in.”
Garnet Valley’s Anna Sielowski gave up four hits in the complete game shutout, striking out 14.
“Maddy pitched a great game,” Rosini said. “Their girl was really good. She had a good fastball and overmatched us a little bit, but we played really solid. They had a girl on third a couple of times with less than two outs and couldn’t get her in.
“I’m happy that we hung in there and made a good game of it. We just have to get that one big hit. We’ll get there. I’m happy overall. I wish the offense would have clicked a little more. We played really well, we just didn’t get a hit when we needed it.”
For the Titans, Ella Wheeler was 2-for-3 with a stolen base.
Alaina Sareyka’s RBI single accounted for the game’s only run. Hannah Long was 2-for-2 with a double and stolen base.
