Non-league
BENSALEM 13, MERION MERCY 3 (6 innings)
The Owls continued their winning ways, notching their 13th win of the season and fourth victory this week.
“Honestly, we would have to dig into the record books to see when the last time an Owls team was able to get to 13 wins,” Bensalem coach Erin Smith said.
Meg Klein led off the first inning and reached base on a walk, stole second and scored on a hit by Ayva Knowles. Knowles was then driven in by Maggie Formichelli’s double. Kenzie Kramer stepped up and ripped a laser solo home run.
“She was out most of the season recovering from a concussion, and she is really starting to get her swing back,” Smith said.
In the second, Destiny Howard was hit by a pitch, Klein followed with a double to right field, and Knowles grounded out to collect her second RBI.
After a quiet third inning. the Owls pounded out four runs in the fourth. Ashlyn Merz led off with a single, Howard followed up with a double, and Klein hit a sac fly to center field. Formichelli delivered an RBI single, and Lina Sponheimer hit a 2-RBI single up the middle. Camryn Pickering smoked a line drive to shortstop that was misplayed, and Formichelli raced home from second for the final run of the inning.
Howard led off the fifth with a solo home run, Kayla Clarkson walked, and Klein smacked her second double of the day. Formichelli followed and hit another RBI single for a three-run inning.
In the sixth inning, the Owls were able to put up one more run on back-to-back doubles.
Formichelli notched the complete game win in the circle.
“Maggie has been really dialed in lately,” Smith said. “She only allowed two hits today.
“We need to clean up on a few shaky defensive plays, but overall, we are playing really good softball.”
For the Owls, Megan Klein has been on a tear this season.
“We have let her swing away a lot more then she has done in the past, and it’s worked with her speed and ability to be a true triple threat,” Smith said. “It makes her hard to game plan for. She’ll drive a ball to the fence then lay down a bunt her next at bat. She’s already had 41 hits this season, which is a crazy number.”
Bensalem (13-6, 10-5 SOL) will host Neshaminy on Monday.

PENNSBURY 14, CONWELL-EGAN 1
The visiting Falcons collected 15 hits, but it wasn’t until a 10-run seventh that they blew Saturday’s non-league game wide open.
The Falcons put two runs on the scoreboard in a second inning that was highlighted by doubles from both Presley Foote and Taylor Askey (2 RBIs). In the fourth inning, Quinn McGonigle ripped a two-run home run to right center, giving the Falcons a 4-0 lead.
A solo home run by Conwell-Egan standout Katie Brennan in the sixth made it a 4-1 game heading into the top of the seventh when the Falcons exploded for 10 runs.
In the 10-run uprising, Mulholland had a pair of hits – a two-run single and a two-run double. McGonigle and Riley Malone each had an RBI single.

COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 1, SOUDERTON 0
Lexi Waring tossed a six-hit complete game gem, striking out 10 and walking just two in the shutout. It took the freshman’s masterpiece to defeat Souderton ace Abby Burns, who allowed only two bunt singles. She struck out 12 and walked only one.”
“Lexi Waring was absolutely brilliant,” coach Dan Schram said. “Abby Burns pitched an excellent game.”
The Golden Hawks scored the game’s only run in the bottom of the second. They did it without hitting a ball out of the infield. Ameerah Wheet legged out a bunt single to open the inning and advanced to third on a Souderton miscue. She scored on Avery Tumolo’s sacrifice bunt, spotting the Hawks a 1-0 lead that held the rest of the way.
“Ameerah Wheet made some great plays in center field and scored the winning run on the squeeze play,” Schram said. “She is showing great leadership for our team. Proud of her and proud of all the kids.”
The Indians threatened in the top of the sixth when Riley York ripped a two-out triple to center and Kendell Clemmer drew a walk. Waring ended that threat with a groundout to third base.
The 3:45 p.m. scheduled start time at Rock South went out the window when there was an unexpected rain shower. The game started at 5:15.
“It was a total team effort, which also included two hours of fieldwork to try and get the field ready for a game that ended around 6:50,” Schram said. “Special thanks to the Souderton coaches and players for patiently allowing us to get this game in. They are a classy group and will make a lot of noise in the playoffs as they always do.”
Council Rock South (9-7, 7-6 SOL) will travel to Villa Joseph Marie for a non-league game Monday, and Souderton (10-7, 7-7) will travel to Central Bucks West on Tuesday.
