SOUDERTON 8, QUAKERTOWN 1
The Indians set up a three-way tie atop the conference standings, thanks to their impressive win over a Panther squad that entered the game in sole possession of first place.
Alex Scheeler turned in a dazzling two-hit effort in the circle. The sophomore hurler, who did not allow an earned run, fanned six, hit one batter but walked none in seven standout innings.
“She pitched amazing today,” Souderton coach Steph Rummel said.
Scheeler was part of a two-run first inning that gave the Indians a lead they would not lose. Savannah Bostwick, who singled, scored on a double by Missy Wiley, and it was a 2-0 game after Scheeler delivered an RBI double.
In the top of the third, the Panthers benefitted from a pair of Indian miscues – their lone errors of the game – to score a run without the benefit of a base hit. Souderton got that run back in the bottom of the third when Scheeler, who picked up her second double of the game, scored on a single by Dayna Shelly.
Sophomore Brianna Neely’s two-run home run in the fourth put the Indians on top 5-1. For good measure, the Indians tacked on three more runs in the fifth. Highlights of the inning included singles by Wiley, Shelly and pinch hitter Jordan Peacock (RBI).
Shelly and Scheeler both finished the day a perfect 3-for-3 while Wiley was 2-for-4. All told, the Indians collected 12 hits.
The win was the sixth in a row for the streaking Indians, who have won eight of their last nine games.
“We had two errors, so it wasn’t a perfect game, but they bounced back,” Rummel said. “They came out swinging the bats.
“We scored first, which is something we’ve been trying to work on – scoring first in every game, and we did that very well today. They continued to keep putting pressure on even if we didn’t score. They did a good job of continuing to keep us in the game, whether it was pitching, fielding or hitting. They were doing their jobs and getting it done.”
Souderton (11-5, 9-4 SOL) will travel to Central Bucks East on Tuesday for its regular season finale. The two teams share the conference’s top spot with Quakertown. Quakertown (13-5, 9-4) will travel to Pennridge for its final regular season game Tuesday (6:30 p.m.).

CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 3, HATBORO-HORSHAM 1
The Hatters took a 1-0 lead into the seventh inning of Monday’s contest, and it looked like the Patriots’ scoring woes against Taylor Sciubba would extend for 14 innings. But the Patriots – benefitting from a costly error – plated three unearned runs to escape with the win.
“This was the same pitcher that beat us the first time 1-0, so we actually were going 13 innings of not being able to score off of her,” East coach Paul Knapp said. “Again, it was the bottom of our lineup with Nik Tracy and Madi Michvech getting on base and getting us back to the top of our lineup.
“This (win) was huge, especially since we have not lost to any conference opponents twice this year. Hatboro was the last one to have beaten us and had the possibility of beating us twice. It came pretty close to that happening.”
The Patriots had life when Tracy drew a one-out walk and moved up to second on a wild pitch. When Michvech was safe on an error, the Patriots had runners on first and third.
Hailey Aspinwall’s sacrifice fly to right plated pinched runner Darien Dempsey, and when Tara Harper legged out a bunt single, the Patriots had runners on the corners. Harper took second base (defensive indifference), and with two outs, Audrey LaBouliere delivered a single to right that plated a pair, putting the Patriots on top 3-1.
“When we get our lead runners on and the bottom of our lineup hits, we’ve been successful,” Knapp said. “They did it again today. You can’t emphasize how big of a win that was.”
Kayla Ventura retired the Hatters in the seventh, and the big win – which vaulted the Patriots back into a three-way tie for first – was in the books.
Ventura, who earned the win, allowed two hits in four scoreless innings. She fanned one and walked one. Theresa Haug allowed six hits and one run while striking out two and walking one in three innings to open the game.
“Outside of a couple of games this year, we haven’t had teams score more than three runs against us,” Knapp said. “They (Ventura and Haug) have been fantastic. They’re quite a combination.”
The Patriots managed just four hits off Sciubba – two by LaBouliere.
Kylie Flagler led the Hatters with a 2-for-4 effort. Deanna Moyer was 1-for-2 with a double and drove in the Hatters only run in the third.
Central Bucks East (13-5, 9-4 SOL) will host Souderton Tuesday. The winner will own at least a share of the conference title. Hatboro-Horsham (11-7, 6-7) will be on the road at North Penn for a key conference battle.

CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 12, PENNRIDGE 3
The Titans took a 1-0 lead into the third inning when they scored four runs. The visiting Lady Rams scored a run in the top of the fourth, but the Titans put the game out of reach with a six-run outburst in the bottom of the inning to go on top 11-1. The Titans collected four hits in both the third and fourth innings.
A two-run fifth by the Lady Rams prevented the Titans from calling it an early day, but they never seriously threatened.
Freshman Kylie Kenney turned in a strong outing in the circle, allowing four hits and just one earned run in the complete game win. She struck out 11 and walked just one.
“She had a very good game,” coach Dan Hayes said. “She pitched at Quakertown and she pitched well up there too. Maybe we can count on her in the playoffs.”
Mikaela Simons led the Titans with a perfect 3-for-3 effort that included a double and two RBIs. Meg Bradley was 2-for-4 with a double and four RBIs while Alexa Ortman was 2-for-3 and Emily Gillard, 2-for-2.
Abby Chandler had a double to account for one of the Lady Rams’ four hits.

In the resumption of an April 29 game that was halted in the top of the fourth inning because of rain, the Bucks – who led 3-1 when the game was suspended – held on to win by that score.
The Bucks got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the first when Emma Dryden, who led off the inning with a double, scored on Abby Morrison’s double.
The Lady Rams got that run back in the top of the second when Skylar Hengevela scored on an RBI single by Jill Helbling.
In the third inning, the Bucks plated a pair of runs to take a 3-1 lead, benefitting from an RBI double by Morrison – her second of the game – and an RBI single by Cara Hatzinger.
Morrison was the lone player from either side with multiple hits, collecting a pair of doubles.
Angelina Sherba earned the win, allowing just four hits and one run. Megan Bauer absorbed the loss for the Lady Rams.
Central Bucks West (8-10, 4-9 SOL) will close out its SOL season on Tuesday by travelling to Central Bucks South for a night game (5:45 p.m.). Pennridge (5-12, 2-11) will host Quakertown on Tuesday (6:30 p.m.).

CHELTENHAM 3, SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP 1
The Lady Panthers earned an impressive road win on Monday, and it was senior Megan Smajda throwing the final four innings to earn her first varsity win.
“She was able to keep them scoreless,” coach Ron Perlstein said. “She got out of a bases-loaded jam in the fourth.
“She got out of trouble in the sixth. She was in trouble almost every inning, but she battled her way out of it. I was really proud of her.”
Making Smajda’s gutsy performance even more impressive is the fact that she did it on a torn ACL.
“She did it right before the season, so she decided not to get the surgery,” Perlstein said. “She’s got a brace, and she’s sort of gutting her way through.
“It’s a pretty neat story. She managed to hang on and get her win.”
After the Spartans scored a single run in the bottom of the first, the Lady Panthers plated single runs in the fourth and sixth innings to go on top 2-1.
“In the top of the seventh, we were trying to get a little breathing room, and Veata Blair-Kraybill hit an inside-the-parker,” Perlstein said. “She hit it dead down the line, and it kind of hung on the fence by the foul line. She was able to outrun the relay throw.”
Morgan Gianelle and Marissa Custer each had a pair of hits to lead the Panthers.
“They’re the ones who got us going in the fourth and the sixth,” Perlstein said.
Blair-Kraybill threw the first three innings, allowing a single run in the first but collecting six straight outs in the second and third innings.
Jen Hammons absorbed the loss for the Spartans, allowing six hits while fanning 10.
“I think she’s outstanding,” Perlstein said of the Spartans’ senior hurler. “She’s a dominant pitcher.
“I really have a lot of respect for her. I think she’s just great.”
Cheltenham (6-12, 4-9 SOL) will host Wissahickon on Tuesday, and Springfield Township (6-8, 6-6) will be on the road at Upper Dublin Tuesday.

UPPER MORELAND 5, WISSAHICKON 1
The Golden Bears took a 1-0 lead in the third inning and then scored four in the fourth to go on top 5-0. The Trojans managed just a single run in the fifth off winning pitcher Brianna Byard, who allowed just four hits.
Allie Miller’s RBI single put the visitors on top 1-0 in the third, and the four-run fourth inning was highlighted by Maddie Mull’s two-run single.
Siani Paige-Miller accounted for two of her team’s hits and drove in the Trojans’ only run with a single in the fifth.
Miller led the Golden Bears with a 3-for-4 effort that included a pair of doubles.
Halle Segal was charged with the loss, allowing seven hits and five runs (none earned).
Upper Moreland (12-3, 9-3 SOL) will be on the road at Upper Merion for a 7 p.m. game on Tuesday, and Wissahickon (2-13, 2-10) will travel to Cheltenham on Tuesday.

COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 11, ABINGTON 7
The Ghosts took a 4-0 lead into the bottom of the third inning, but the Golden Hawks exploded for six runs in the bottom of the inning and added five more in the fourth on their way to the important win.
“We made errors, but that’s part of the game this year – everyone is having them,” Rock South coach Greg Heydet said. “Today was Senior Day, and I think they were kind of wrapped up in that, and we weren’t ready to go.
“Sometimes you just have to yell at them because there are no tomorrows. You have to win today.”
In the Golden Hawks’ six-run third, Dolores Bower delivered a three-run home run. Melanie Wilkinson had a two-run blast to highlight the four-run fourth. The Hawks also benefitted from five walks – four in the third and one in the fourth.
“Walks are just like hits – you have to be on base to add up the score,” Heydet said.
Emily Freed and Makenna Diamond were both 2-for-2 with two runs scored.
For the Ghosts, Jade Sowell was 2-for-4, and Aubrey Cataldi was 1-for-4 with an RBI triple in the seventh inning. Brandenburger was 2-for-3.
Steph Andreoli notched the win in the circle, striking out six and walking three.
Council Rock South (10-5, 7-4 SOL) will be on the road at Neshaminy on Tuesday, and Abington (5-12, 4-9) will host Harry S Truman Tuesday.

COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 6, PENNSBURY 1
Amanda Camp and Jenna Khantzian proved to be a winning combination in the circle for the Indians on Monday. Camp threw four innings, allowing one run and four hits. Khantzian threw three shutout innings to close it out, fanning six.
Taylor Amazeen led the Indians with a 3-for-4 effort that included a double. Nicole Rounsavill was 2-for-2 while Lauren Begg was 2-for-4. Taylor Briggs was 1-for-3 with a triple.
Council Rock North (12-4, 10-2 SOL) will be on the road at Bensalem on Tuesday, and Pennsbury (7-10, 6-7) – which saw its four-game winning streak snapped – will host William Tennent.
