SOL Patriot/Colonial crossover
PENNSBURY 2, CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 0
The day belonged to Laney Freiband.
The Cornell University-bound senior – who was in complete command from the first pitch to the last – threw a complete game no-hitter, striking out 10 and walking one.
“She really threw well,” Pennsbury coach Frank McSherry said. “She was just hitting her spots and getting ahead. She was just throwing strikes. She had one walk, but it was on a 3-2 count. She just really, really had nice control.”
Freiband retired the first 13 batters she faced before the Bucks had their first base runner when the Falcons committed their only miscue of the game on a grounder by Sienna Lawson.
In the top of the sixth, Ana Glemser drew a two-out walk. Neither runner advanced beyond first base. Freiband put an exclamation point on a brilliant outing with a strikeout for the game’s final out.
For good measure, Freiband also singled and drove in one of her team’s runs.
“It was a Laney day,” McSherry said.
Neither team scored until the Falcons put a pair on the board in the bottom of the sixth inning. With one out, Liv Czerniak was safe on an error, and Ava Storlazzi followed with a single.
“She hit a line drive over the third baseman’s head down the line, and being a left-hander, it spun away from the left fielder,” McSherry said. “We gave it a single and one-base error, so on that play, she got to second and Czerniak got to third, so we had second and third with one out.”
Sammy Raub brought Czerniak home with a sacrifice fly to center field.
“Sammy probably had a seven- or eight-pitch at-bat and hit the sacrifice fly,” McSherry said.
Freiband helped her own cause with a single to left field that plated an insurance run.
She retired the Bucks in order in the top of the seventh to close out the no-hitter.
Lawson absorbed the loss despite allowing just four hits and one earned run. She struck out eight and did not walk a batter.
“She’s a good pitcher – she kept us off balance,” McSherry said.
Storlazzi accounted for three of the Falcons four hits, finishing the game 3-for-3 with a double, three stolen bases and a run scored.
Pennsbury (12-1, 9-1 SOL) will be on the road at Central Bucks South on Wednesday, and Central Bucks West (7-6, 5-5 SOL) will host Neshaminy on Wednesday.

SOUDERTON 3, COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 0
McKenna Schroding was on top of her game.
The Souderton junior tossed a complete game one-hit shutout, striking 12 and walking two in a standout performance in the circle.
“She threw a phenomenal game today,” Souderton coach Carol Atkinson said. “We did a little bit of changing up of her pitches today. She was definitely hitting her spots. She just looked really good. We had a nice little break since we last played, and it gave her some time to rest and get ready.”
Rock North’s lone hit came with one out in the first when Molly Sheehy singled to right field. Olivia Schlindwein – who was safe on an error to lead off the first and moved up to second on a passed ball – advanced to third to put runners on the corners, giving the visitors their only scoring opportunity of the game.
Schroding struck out the next batter she faced and got the third out on a grounder back to the circle. The junior hurler retired 20 of 22 batters she faced after Sheehy’s single with Rock North’s only baserunners coming on walks to lead off the fourth and fifth innings.
“McKenna Schroding pitched a fantastic game for Souderton today,” Rock North coach Susan Yee said. “She was really in command of her pitches.”
Kayley York spotted Souderton a 1-0 lead when she smashed a solo home run to center field to lead off the fourth inning.
In the bottom of the sixth, York was intentionally walked to lead off the inning and eventually scored on a wild pitch. Kendall Clemmer collected the lone hit of the inning, but a pair of errors also played a key role as the home Indians opened up a 3-0 lead.
“Kayley hit a solo home run, and that started us off,” Atkinson said. “In the bottom of the sixth, we played a little bit of small ball and moved the girls around.”
Clemmer was 3-for-3 at the plate, accounting for three of Souderton’s five hits.
“She really did find her spot today,” Atkinson said of Clemmer. “She came out hitting, and she had a nice game last week too.
“It was a great game, it was a very well-played game. Their pitcher threw a great game also.”
Schlindwein allowed just five hits and three runs (two earned) while striking out 12 and walking three.
“Although she came out on the losing end, I think Olivia Schlindwein also deserves a lot of credit for throwing a great game as well,” Yee said. “She matched Schroding’s 12 K’s (pitching 1 less inning). Souderton just did a better job of getting the ball in play when they needed to, and backing up their pitcher than we did today.”
Souderton (7-7, 5-5 SOL) will host Central Bucks South in the first game of the second go-round in division play. Council Rock North (7-7, 4-6) will host Central Bucks East on Wednesday.

NESHAMINY 20, CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 10 (3 innings)
This was a wild one, and if there is such a thing as a three-inning marathon, this was it.
The abbreviated contest lasted two hours and 35 minutes, and that could only happen in a contest that featured 30 runs, 27 hits and 18 walks combined between the two squads. The Redskins accounted for 18 of those hits and 20 of those runs to earn the win in East’s Senior Day contest.
“We hit really well today – this is what we thought we were as far as hitting-wise,” Neshaminy coach Tim Quense said. “I was talking to my coaches – the dugout was alive today. There was such a good vibe. We played really good defense today.”
With starting pitcher RyLeigh Bilbrey sidelined, Quense gave the starting nod to Maysie Thomson.
“She set them down in order in the first inning, and we scored four in the first,” the Redskins’ coach said. “In the second inning, she had a little issue where she couldn’t find the strike zone.”
Quense’s second pitcher also struggled with control issues, so he opted to give freshman Molly Ambrosius a stint in the circle, calling on the rookie with two outs in the second. By the time Ambrosius entered the game, the Redskins had seen their once commanding 11-0 lead trimmed to 11-9, but she brought order to the game for the Redskins, throwing 3.1 innings and allowing five hits and one run while striking out four and walking four.
“She pitched really well,” Quense said. “For the first time coming into a situation like that, she did really well. When she settled in, she started hitting her spots.
“When you bring in a young pitcher like that, they often start overthrowing, but she’s got good speed, she throws a rise, a two-seam fastball, and she’s working on her change-up. I gave her the game ball at the end.”
Quense acknowledged he had a few anxious moments.
“When it was 11-0 and all of a sudden it was 11-9, I was going out of my mind for a little bit,” he said. “I was like – we cannot lose an 11-0 lead.”
After the Patriots pulled to within two, 11-9, the Redskins answered with two runs in the fourth and seven in the fifth to bring an early end to the marathon contest.
Olivia Hughes led the Redskins with a perfect 4-for-4 effort that included three RBIs and three runs scored. Morgan Leonhauser was 3-for-4 with four RBIIs and one run scored. Rachel Allen was 3-for-5 with two doubles, four RBIs and two runs scored. Lindsey Gorka was 2-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and two runs scored. Morgan Volgraf was 2-for-5 with one RBI and three runs. Alleigh Waskie was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored.
For the Patriots, Sara Camposano’s 3-for-4 with a double, one RBI and one scored led the way. Elizabeth Gray was 2-for-3 with two runs scored. Kayla Mitchell was 2-for-4 with two RBIs.
Neshaminy (7-7, 6-5 SOL) will travel to Central Bucks West on Wednesday, and Central Bucks East (3-10, 2-7) will be on the road at Council Rock North Wednesday.

CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 10, HARRY S TRUMAN 5
A five-run second inning put the Titans on top 6-0 early in Tuesday’s crossover game, and in the pivotal inning, the Titans capitalized on their small ball game.
“We executed really well in the second inning when we got five runs,” South coach Kevin Rosini said. “We had bunt singles, walks, stolen bases – we had three stolen bases in that inning and six for the game. We had two sacrifice bunts, bunt singles. We really executed well.”
The Titans put a run on the board in the top of the first without collecting a hit, capitalizing on a walk, an error and a bunt.
In the second inning, Riley Theis legged out a bunt single to lead off the frame, and one out later, Jackie Lieberman drew a walk. Gabby DeVito’s bunt single plated a run, and another Truman miscue allowed a fourth run to cross the plate. Maura Fleming doubled to left field to push a run across, and Ella Wheeler’s RBI single to left field put the Titans on top 6-0.
The Tigers made it a 6-4 game after scoring two in both the bottom of the second and third innings, but the Titans scored two runs in both the fourth and fifth innings to go on top 10-4 on their way to the crossover win.
Fleming’s 2-for-3 effort at the plate led the Titans and included a double, sac bunt, stolen base, three RBIs and two runs scored. Camryn Lee was 1-for-2 with a double, walk, stolen base and three runs scored.
For the Tigers, Kaitlyn Erhard was 3-for-5 with a triple and RBI. Jillian Saperstein was 2-for-4 with an RBI, and Veronica Slaton finished 1-for-2 with a double, hit by pitch, walk and two runs scored.
Theis earned the complete game win, striking out nine. For the Tigers, Jessica Adams struck out 12 but absorbed the loss.
Central Bucks South (6-5, 5-4) will host Pennsbury on Wednesday, and Harry S Truman (1-10, 0-10) will be on the road at North Penn on Wednesday.

The visiting Cardinals took care of business in a hurry in Tuesday’s crossover game.

Kyla Garrison notched the win in the circle, allowing two hits and one run while striking out two and walking three.
Keilah Reyes solo home run in the third inning accounted for the Lady Panthers’ lone run.
