SOL Patriot/Colonial crossover
COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 5, CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 4
The Indians erased a 2-1 deficit with a four-run third and then held on for the win over the pesky Patriots.
“Our girls certainly didn’t have our best stuff today, but I was extremely proud of how our girls battled and did what they had to do to earn the win,” Rock North coach Susan Yee said. “With four errors defensively, we definitely put ourselves in some tough spots, but when we needed that last out or a timely hit, the girls really came through.”
After the Indians plated an unearned run in the bottom of the second, the Patriots answered with two runs in the top of the third.
Elizabeth Gray got things started with a bunt single and moved up to second on a wild pitch. Kaylee Masterson followed with a line drive single to center that plated Gray. Elise Waddington’s RBI double to center gave the Patriots their first and only lead.
In the bottom of the inning, Ellie Bonn and Olivia Schlindwein led off with back-to-back singles, and both advanced on Zoe Hornstein’s sacrifice bunt. A walk to Molly Sheehy loaded the bases, and it looked like the Patriots might escape unscathed when Kaylee Mitchell struck out the next batter she faced for the inning’s second out.
Taylor Gearhart made sure that didn’t happen and delivered a hard single up the middle that plated two runs. Chelsea Seiler’s double to center brought home two more runs and gave the Indians a 5-2 lead.
The Patriots scored a pair of unearned runs in the fourth to make it a 5-4 game, and that score held the rest of the way.
Lucy Mills earned the complete game win, allowing six hits and four runs (two earned) while striking out nine and walking one.
“Despite some of her go-to pitches being a little off today, Lucy Mills put in a tremendous effort in the circle to still amass nine Ks in seven innings of work, which is a credit to her mental toughness,” Yee said.
Seiler led the Indians’ eight-hit attack, finishing the day 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs, and Bonn was 2-for-3 with a run scored.
“I was pleased with the production of the middle of our order today,” Yee said. “Freshman first baseman Katie Wilkoski did a great job in her first game back after being out due to injury, going 1-for-3 with a run scored, while Taylor Gearhart was 1-for- 2 with a sacrifice, two RBIs, and a run scored, along with Chelsea Seiler putting forth a 2-for-3 effort totaling two RBIs. Freshman Ellie Bonn also had a great showing in her first start in several weeks going 2-for-3 with a run scored, and a hard-hit fielder’s choice as her only non-hit of the day.
“Hopefully, we can clean up the mistakes we know we made and continue building the momentum with the positive things we did today as we head on the road to Truman on Friday.”
For the Patriots, Gray was 3-for-3 with a stolen base and run scored, and Waddington was 2-for-3 with a double and one RBI.
Council Rock North (8-7, 5-6 SOL) will travel to Harry S Truman Friday for the first game of the second go-round in conference play. Central Bucks East (3-11, 2-8) will host Central Bucks West on Friday.

CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 7, PENNSBURY 6
The ending of Wednesday’s game on a walk-off wild pitch in the bottom of the seventh inning – according to South coach Kevin Rosini – was a microcosm of the game.
“Nora Sidorski singled with one out, stole second, stole third and – with two outs, we got the wild pitch for her to score,” the Titans’ coach said. “I thought we might have had some disappointment when we gave up two in the top of the seventh to tie it.
“We were patient at the plate, which was crucial because we haven’t been walking a lot this season at all. We got 10 walks today. We were patient when we needed to be.”
The two teams spent the game exchanging leads. The Falcons went on top 2-0 in the top of the first when – with two outs – Naya Schubel hit a two-run home run. The Titans evened the score in the bottom of the third without collecting a hit.
Three walks and a two-out, two-run single by Ella Wheeler gave the Titans a 4-2 lead in the third. The Falcons evened the score in the top of the sixth, thanks to a two-out, two-run double by Hannah DeFinis.
Wheeler gave the Titans a 6-4 lead in the bottom of the inning when she lined a two-run single to left field. Unfazed, the Falcons answered in the top of the seventh. Taylor Askey and Liv Czerniak opened the inning with back-to-back singles. A walk to Presley Foote loaded the bases. Maddy Borowski struck out the next batter she faced, but a bases-loaded walk to Sammy Raub pushed a run across, and the two teams were deadlocked after Schubel lofted a sacrifice fly to center. A line drive snagged by South’s first baseman with Falcon runners on the corners ended the inning, and Sidorski’s one-out single set the stage for the walk-off win.
“We needed this,” Rosini said. “I thought our kids played really well today. “
Wheeler had a big day at the plate to lead the Titans, finishing 2-for-4 with a double, sac fly and five RBIs. Camryn Lee drew three walks and scored three runs.
“We got some clutch hitting – Ella Wheeler came up super clutch today – five RBIs, one two-out, two-run single and one one-out two-run single,” Rosini said. “She went back-to-back fourth and sixth innings with two-run singles, which were huge. She was great.
“I thought we ran the bases really well today – we were very aggressive. We had four stolen bases, which was big.”
Borowski notched the complete game win, allowing five hits and striking out five.
For the Falcons, Schubel was 2-for-3 with a home run, three RBIs and two runs.
Central Bucks South (7-5, 6-4 SOL) will host Bensalem on Thursday, and Pennsbury (12-2, 9-2) will face Neshaminy at Middletown Community Park on Friday at 7 p.m.

NESHAMINY 6, CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 3
The Bucks took a 3-0 lead into the sixth inning when the Redskins – ignited by a two-run home run by Liv Hughes – staged a two-out rally, scoring five runs and adding a single run in the seventh to earn the road win in Thursday’s crossover game.
“The fence at CB West is 220, and Liv hit it about 240 in the air to left field – it was a bomb,” Neshaminy coach Tim Quense said. “We probably would have had two more home runs today, but that fence is so deep.
Hughes mighty blast came on the heels of a two-out single by Lindsey Gorka. This after the Redskins had managed just two hits through five innings off Sienna Lawson, and both of those came in the fifth inning.
After Hughes’ blast, the Redskins’ bats came to life. Morgan Volgraf followed with a single, and she scored the tying run when Morgan Leonhauser roped an RBI double to left. The Redskins added two more runs, thanks to an RBI double by Zoe Shubin as well as a West miscue. Rachel Allen singled to lead off the seventh and scored when Hughes collected a two-out single for the 6-3 final.
Hughes was 2-for-4 with a home run, three RBIs and a run scored to lead the Redskins. Leonhauser and Shubin were both 2-for-3 with a double, RBI and run scored.
For the second time in as many days, freshman Molly Ambrosius came up big in the circle for Neshaminy, earning the complete game win. The rookie allowed seven hits and three runs while striking out 10 and walking one.
“She did really well,” coach Tim Quense said. “She competed and battled all day. She pitched great.”
For the Bucks, Lawson was 2-for-3 with a run scored, and Laila Murray was 2-for-2 with an RBI and run scored. Ana Glemser doubled and drove in a pair of runs for the Bucks.
Neshaminy (8-7, 7-5 SOL) will host Pennsbury at Middletown Community Park on Friday at 7 p.m., and Central Bucks West (7-7, 5-6) will travel to Central Bucks East on Friday.

PENNRIDGE 8, BENSALEM 1
Reagan Bauman and Grace Helbling proved to be double trouble for the Owls in Wednesday night’s crossover game.
While Bauman was an impossible out at the plate, Helbling tossed a gem in the circle. The Rams’ senior pitcher allowed five hits and one run while striking out 13 and walking just one in the complete game win. Bauman, meanwhile, was a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate with a home run, three RBIs and two runs scored.
It was Bauman’s three-run shot to center field in the third inning that gave the Rams a 3-0 lead. The stage for the inning’s big blow was set when Olivia Crognale lined a two-out single to center and Helbling – who followed – was hit by a pitch.
Lina Sponheimer’s solo home run to center in the fourth made it a 3-1 game. The Rams got that run back in the fifth, and they put the game out of reach with a four-run sixth. Highlights of the frame were an RBI double by Crognale and a two-run double by Averi Dockery.
Also for the Rams, Crognale was 2-for-3 with a double, RBI and two runs scored, and Dockery was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs.
Sponheimer’s 2-for-3 day at the plate with a home run, RBI and run scored led the Owls.

Just when it seemed as though no one could top or equal Julia Shearer’s three consecutive home run performance in the Knights’ win over Bensalem on Monday, along comes Casey Sokol two days later and duplicates it, hitting three home runs in three trips to the plate and driving in seven runs.
Sokol hit a solo shot to center field in the second and three-run home runs in both the third and fourth innings – all three round trippers to center field.
Sokol’s three home runs were part of a seven home run barrage by the Knights. Gianna Cimino hit a pair of home runs – a solo shot in the third and two-run blast in the fourth. Adding one home run each were Annabelle Smink (a 2-run homer in the first) and Julia Shearer (a 2-run shot in the fourth).
Shearer also tossed a no-hitter in the abbreviated contest, striking out the first 11 batters she faced and recording 14 of 15 outs in the game by strikeout. She walked one.
For the game, Shearer was 3-for-4 with a home run, two RBIs and a run scored. Also contributing multiple hits for the Knights were Sarah Sabocsik (2-for-3, 2B, 2 RBIs, 1R), Cimino (2-for-2, 2 HR, 3 RBIs, 2R) and Sophia Orth (2-for-3, 2B, 2R).

WILLIAM TENNENT 6, ABINGTON 3
The Ghosts took a 3-2 lead into the fifth inning when the Panthers – sparked by the three-run blast by Morgan Kocher – put four runs on the board and went on to win 6-3. Rylie O’Toole and Carlie Nydick combined for the win in the circle.
“The tandem of O’Toole and Nydick worked again to throw the opponent off balance in the middle/late innings, giving our offense time to once again come from behind,” Tennent coach Rich Clark said. “The big blow was Kocher, who hit a three-run home run over the center field fence.
“I call this group the heart attack kids as they keep fighting back and never give up.”
The Ghosts scored a single run in the first when Leanna Schenk hit a triple to left field and scored on a Tennent miscue. Schenk gave the Ghosts a 2-0 lead in the third when she singled home Natalie Broskley, who hit a two-out single and stole second.
In the bottom of the third, the Panthers used four straight singles by Madison Pirolli, Sami Wood, Kocher (RBI) and Gigi DeMito (RBI) to knot the score 2-2.
Abington regained the lead with a run in the fourth only to watch the Panthers take a lead they would not lose in the fifth. Pirolli drew a leadoff walk and Wood legged out a bunt single. Kocher emptied the bases with one swing of her bat, a three-run home run that gave the Panthers their final margin of victory.
Leading the Panthers at the plate were Kocher (2-for-3, HR, 4 RBIs, 1R), DeMito (2-for-3, 2B, RBI, 1R) and Wood (2-for-3, 2R). Lainey Scotese was 1-for-3 with a double.

SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP 7, WISSAHICKON 3
The Spartans took an early 3-0 lead but found themselves deadlocked at 3 heading into the fifth inning.
“Joce Davis came up huge with two outs and the game tied at 3-3, hitting a double and driving in two runs in the bottom of the fifth,” Springfield coach Heather Gehlhaus said. “This was a great win for us.
“We really needed this after coming off a three-game losing streak. I was proud of our effort in the game and the momentum we had throughout the whole game. We never got down and did what we needed to do to win.”
The Spartans – armed with a 5-3 advantage – added two more runs in the bottom of the sixth. , capitalizing on a pair of miscues as well as an RBI double by Kayla Parsons.
Neither team generated all that much offense as both squads managed just five hits. Ashley Jenkins accounted for two of Springfield’s five hits.
“Ashley Jenkins was great at the plate for us going 2-for-3 with two runs scored,” Gehlhaus said.
Early on, the Spartans put three runs on the board in the first inning. Taylor Schulz contributed an RBI double in the frame.
Ashley Schulz earned the complete game win, allowing just five hits and three runs (one earned) while striking out 12 and walking five.
“Ashley Schulz was really strong on the mound,” Gehlhaus said. “She threw a great game striking out 12. I was really impressed with her accuracy, and she was hitting her spots consistently.”
For the Trojans, Em Fox led the way with a 2-for-4 effort at the plate that included a double, one RBI and one run scored.

The Cardinals put a run on the board in the first inning when Kaelin Penna walked, stole second and scored on an RBI fielder’s choice by Anna Levin.
Madden Reilly’s two-run home run in the third put the Cardinals on top 3-0, but the Lions answered with two runs in the bottom of the inning on a two-run homer by Liz Neeld that made it 3-2.

HATBORO-HORSHAM 9, CHELTENHAM 0
Bella Karpovich tossed the complete game shutout, and the Hatters gave her plenty of support.
“Bella Karpovich had a very nice game in the circle today, shutting out Cheltenham and striking out nine,” H-H coach Jen Tooley said.
The Hatters broke up the scoreless contest with four runs in the third inning. Alyssa Tooley opened the inning with a single, and Tess Kearney was hit by a pitch. Both runners advanced on a wild pitch, and both scored when Abby Waeltz singled. RBI singles by Karpovich and Taylor Hagenkotter gave the Hatters a 4-0 advantage.
The Hatters blew the game wide open with a four-run fifth. After a pair of walks sandwiched around a single by Dakota Slye loaded the bases, Kearney delivered a grand slam.
“Tess didn’t even realize it went over until she was turning for second – it was a line drive shot,” Tooley said.
Gianna Salerno’s RBI single in the sixth closed out the scoring.
Waeltz led the Hatters’ 12-hit attack with a perfect 3-for-3 that included two RBIs and one run scored. Kearney finished a productive day 2-for-3 with a home run, four RBIs and two runs scored. Alyssa Tooley was 2-for-3 with two runs scored.
The Hatters, according to Tooley, could have had even greater offensive production had it not been for the play of Cheltenham center fielder Kendall Nelson.
“She silenced a lot of our hits,” the Hatters’ coach said. “She can cover a lot of ground out there.”
Hatboro-Horsham (8-5, 8-2 SOL) will celebrate Senior Night on Friday when it hosts Wissahickon at Horsham Little League fields at 7 p.m. Cheltenham (2-11, 0-11) will host Academy of the New Church in a non-league game Monday.

PLYMOUTH WHITEMARSH 14, UPPER MORELAND 3
The Colonials were looking to bounce back strong after Monday’s loss to William Tennent in crossover play, and they did just that, pounding out 19 hits and scoring 14 runs in a no-doubt-about it win.
“Everyone was really looking forward to getting back in the field after Monday’s loss to Tennent,” PW coach Mike Perez said. “The girls came out with a lot of energy today.
“We were getting girls on base early but missed opportunities to bring them home, leaving eight runners on base the first four innings. But in the fifth inning, we were able to start opening it up.”
PW led 3-1 heading into the fifth and then outscored the Golden Bears 11-2 over the final three innings.
Sparked by a double from Caelin Kosvitch and a Rian Reed RBI single, PW scored a pair in the top of the first. UM cut that lead in half when Alyssa Wiley doubled and scored on an error.
An RBI single by Kosvitch upped the Colonials lead to 3-1 in the fourth. The four-run fifth included singles by Anna Powel and Jenna Yablon, a sacrifice fly by Molly Moore and four free passes.
Highlights of the four-run sixth were doubles by Powel and Joslyn Perez (RBI) as well as a two-run single by Sam Skivo. In the four-run sixth, Grace Carney ripped an RBI triple to center field, and she scored when Joslyn Perez doubled. Molly Moore also had an RBI double in the frame.

“The whole lineup was ultimately able to get key hits today, but the bottom of our lineup really stepped up to set the table,” Perez said. “Joslyn (Perez) and Jenna (Yablon) have been huge for us all year. They were able to start off a couple of innings today and really get rallies going.”
