SOL Patriot/Colonial crossovers
PENNSBURY 17, CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 11
It’s been an unusual season for the Falcons.
They’ve scored runs in bunches but also given up more runs than usual. On Friday, the Falcons closed out the week by winning a slugfest. In three games combined this week, they’ve scored 37 runs but lost Monday’s game to Neshaminy despite putting nine runs on the scoreboard.
On Friday, Pennsbury scored 10 runs in the first two innings combined but led by just a 10-8 score. Things slowed down a bit after that, and the Falcons outscored their visitors 7-3 over the final five innings to earn the win in Friday’s crossover game against the Patriots.
Both teams scored three runs in the first, and then came the wild second. Anna Devine’s solo blast to center gave the Patriots a 4-3 lead. Maggie Funston followed with a single, and Hailey Helmstetter singled. The bases were loaded when – with two outs – Elena Bhatt hit a grand slam home run, giving the Patriots an 8-3 lead.
But not for long.
With one out in the bottom of the inning, Ava Storlazzi singled and stole second. Naya Schubel was safe on an error, and another East miscue allowed Storlazzi to score. Then it was Sammy Raub hitting the third home run of the game, this one a three-run blast to left field that pulled the Falcons to within one.
With two outs, back-to-back walks set the stage for Presley Foote’s two-run double to left that put the Falcons on top 9-8. Bella Morales
followed with an RBI single, and the Falcons led 10-8.
The Falcons upped their lead to 14-8 with four runs in the fourth. The inning was highlighted by a two-run double from Morales. The Patriots would get no closer than five the rest of the way.
Raub led the Falcons with a 3-for-5 day at the plate that included a double, home run, four RBIs and two runs scored. Storlazzi had another big day out of the leadoff spot with a 3-for-5 effort that included a double, three stolen bases and four runs scored. Liv Czerniak, who earned the win in relief in the circle, was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Foote was 2-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and a run scored. Morales was 2-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and a run.
For the Patriots, who held a 15-13 edge in hits, Devine was 3-for-5 with a double, home run, two RBIs and two runs scored out of the leadoff spot. Bhatt was 2-for-3 with a home run, five RBIs and two runs, Funston was 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs, and Helmstetter was 2-for-4 with two runs. Sarah Zmuda was 2-for-4 with an RBI and run scored, and Kaylee Masterson was 2-for-4 with an RBI and run scored.
Pennsbury (8-6, 7-5 SOL) will travel to Bensalem on Tuesday, and Central Bucks East (4-12, 1-12) will be on the road at Pennridge on Tuesday.

SOL Freedom Division
NEW HOPE-SOLEBURY 11, LOWER MORELAND 0 (5 innings)
Dagny Mobley and Mabel Klossner.
The freshmen duo has been a winning combination for New Hope-Solebury in the circle, and they were back at it again on Friday, combining for the abbreviated no-hitter. Mobley – who earned the win – started and threw three shutout innings, striking out seven and walking one. Klossner closed it out with back-to-back 1-2-3 innings, striking out four. Eleven of 15 outs were by strikeout. For good measure, the duo combined for three hits and six RBIs.
To underscore the impact of Dagny and Klossner – New Hope-Solebury won its 11th game on Friday. In the Lions’ three preceding years in the SOL combined, they won just 10 games.
The Lions scored all the runs they would need in the top of the first. Elena Shire led off the inning with a single, and one out later, Klossner smashed a two-run home run to left field. A LM miscue allowed NH-S to add two more runs to go on top 4-0.
In a three-run second, Jackie Herbert and Shire opened the inning with back-to-back singles. An error allowed a run to cross the plate, and then Mobley lined a two-run double to left, scoring a pair to put the visiting Lions on top 7-0.
A three-run third and a single run in the fifth for New Hope-Solebury brought an early end to the game.
Mobley was 2-for-2 with a home run and three RBIs, and Kaylee Harris was 2-for-4 with a double and triple. Shire was 2-for-2 with a stolen base and two runs scored out of the leadoff spot.
New Hope-Solebury (11-4, 10-3 SOL) will host Lower Moreland in a rematch on Tuesday.

HATBORO-HORSHAM 17, CHELTENHAM 1 (3 innings)
The visiting Hatters took a 2-0 lead in the first inning and then blew the game wide open with an 11-run second on their way to the mercy rule win in the abbreviated contest.
Kennedy Conn earned the win in the circle, allowing one hit and one run (unearned) in three innings. She struck out six and walked a pair.
There were offensive heroes galore for the Hatters.
Cara Neeld – who was 2-for-2 with a double, RBI and two runs scored – was the lone player with multiple hits. Ryleigh White was 1-for-1 with two RBIs and a run scored. Alyssa Tooley was 1-for-2 with a double, two RBIs and a run scored. Danielle Frank was 1-for-1 with two RBIs, and Conn was 1-for-2 with two RBIs. Non-league
QUAKERTOWN 10, NESHAMINY 5
Showing no ill effects from their first loss of the season 24 hours earlier to archrival PW, the visiting Panthers bounced back to earn a big non-league road win.
“Neshaminy is a very good team,” Quakertown coach Rich Scott said. “They can hit the ball.”
So can Scott’s Panthers, who put five runs on the board in the top of the first.
With one out, Skyler Williams grounded a single to center, and Leah Schwalm followed with a single to left. A walk to Candence Lewis loaded the bases. Ellie Hilton’s single to left plated Williams, and that set the stage for a grand slam to left field that spotted the Panthers an early 5-0 lead.
“It was a great first inning for us,” Scott said. “Mary had her second grand slam of the season. That was huge.
“This is what we try to do every game – first inning score a bunch of runs. It didn’t work out yesterday, but it did today.”
The Redskins scored three runs in the bottom of the third. Olivia Hughes led off the inning with a single, and she scored when Lily Mormello hit a two-run home run to center field. A one-out walk to Zahmira Coppola-Miller was followed with back-to-back singles by Alleigh Waskie and Morgan Leonhauser to load the bases. The Panthers got an out at the plate for the inning’s second out, but the Redskins scored one more run when Jill Rickards was hit by a pitch to make it a 5-3 game.
In the top of the fifth, Williams and Schwalm opened the inning with back-to-back singles. Williams was out on a force out for the inning’s first out, and the bases were loaded after Hilton drew a walk. A run scored on a wild pitch, and another run scored on Wilkinson’s groundout to make it a 7-3 game.
The Panthers made it a 10-3 game in the top of the sixth. The Redskins scored single runs in the sixth and seventh but would get no closer than the 10-5 final.
For the second time in as many days, the Panthers were without their dangerous leadoff hitter, Ava Beal, but her teammates pick up the slack.
Wilkinson finished a productive day 2-for-4 with a home run, seven RBIs and a run scored.
“She had a day,” Scott said. “It’s confidence, believing in yourself. I preach to the kids from the beginning of the season – ‘Believe in yourself. I believe in you guys. I’m going to give you nothing but positive reinforcements every time you’re at-bat. Just see the ball and hit the ball and hit it hard,’ and she’s been doing that.”
Schwalm finished the day 3-for-4 with an RBI.
“She’s huge, she’s money,” Scott said. “Every time she’s at the plate you expect a hit from her.”
Skyler Williams, who’s been battling an injury, was 2-for-4 with two runs scored.
“She left yesterday’s game hurting,” Scott said. “She got hit in the back, and it’s been bothering her ever since.”
Sophomore Ellie Hilton was 2-for-2 with a double, RBI and run scored.
“She’s my DP player because she’s been hot with the bat ever since CB West, and again, I preach confidence to her and just go up and hit the ball hard, and she does.”
Abbey Wagner notched the complete game win, allowing five runs while striking out six and walking two.
“Abbey Wagner pitched a heck of a game,” Scott said. “They got 15 hits, but they were not easy hits – they had a couple bloopers and things like that.
“As the game went on, she got stronger. She’s pitching every pitch for us, she’s a workhorse. Pound for pound, she’s one of the best pitchers I’ve ever had. She’s very determined.”
For the Redskins, Olivia Hughes was 3-for-5 with a run scored, and Leonhauser was 3-for-4. Mormello was 2-for-4 with a home run, three RBIs and a run scored, and Morgan Volgraf was 2-for-5 with a double and run scored. Waskie was 2-for-4 with an RBI and run scored.
Quakertown (15-1, 12-1 SOL) will host Wissahickon on Tuesday, and Neshaminy (10-5, 9-4) will host Harry S Truman on Tuesday.
