COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 12, ABINGTON 2 (6 innings)
The Indians took a 3-2 lead into the third inning when they scored three runs. That opened the floodgates as they added three more in both the fifth and sixth innings, benefitting from six Abington errors.
The Indians pounded out 15 hits while Rock North’s pitching duo of Elyse McMenamin and Amanda Camp combined to allow just one in the abbreviated six-inning game.
“We really have been working on our small ball,” coach Chris McDermott said. “It hadn’t been clicking for us.
“It clicked yesterday, and it clicked again today. The small ball kind of causes a lot of errors. Overall, there were only six strikeouts. We played really good defense and had zero errors.”
Third baseman Sabrina Crane had five putouts to lead the standout defensive effort.
Crane also had a big day at the plate, contributing a two-run double in a three-run fifth. She finished the day 3-for-5. Haley McMenamin was 3-for-4 with a double. Marissa Gergal added a pair of hits.
Elyse McMenamin earned the win, allowing one run in three innings. For good measure, she was 2-for-2 at the plate. Camp closed it out with three scoreless innings.
Nicolette Ray had the Ghosts’ only hit.
“She’s a big bat – she’s good for a home run every game,” McDermott said.
Council Rock North is 8-3 in conference play (11-5 overall) while Abington is 8-5 (12-6 overall). The two teams will meet again on Monday at Abington.

PENNSBURY 3, CONWELL EGAN 2
Frank McSherry had a message for his young team before Friday’s non-league game at Conwell Egan.
“I told them before the game today – ‘This is going to be the hardest game we play all year, not necessarily because it’s the hardest opponent but because of what happened last night. First of all we played last night just a few hours ago it seems. It was a big emotional game, and we got pounded,’” the veteran coach said of his team’s loss in five innings to Neshaminy. “It is the perfect setup for a letdown.
“I just said, ‘Listen, if the bad times can’t break you, they have to make you. Let’s see what we’re made of.’”
McSherry’s players responded.
Dani Litwin contributed an RBI double in the top of the first to spot the Falcons a 1-0 lead. They extended that lead to 3-0 with a pair of runs in the second. Freshman Sydney Jakimowicz contributed an RBI in the inning. Conwell Egan scored single runs in the fifth and seventh, but the Falcons held on for the win.
“They came out strong,” McSherry said of his squad. “Again, it’s our MO – we scored three in the first two and don’t the next five.
“(Conwell Egan) always plays hard. They played some nice defense, and their pitcher did a good job.”
Alyssa Hileman went the distance to earn the win on the mound.
“That was really big for her because she had some back issues this last week and a half,” McSherry said of his freshman pitcher. “It was really bothering her last night. She threw a ton of pitches.
“She went to the doctor and went through some deep tissue therapy and came back and threw, which was nice. You have to give her credit. She toughened it out and did a good job for us today.”
Pennsbury upped its record to 10-8 (5-7 SOL).

CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 6, EMMAUS 1
Taylor Marinelli had a productive day at the plate for the Titans. She delivered an RBI double to plate a run and knot the score 1-1 in the bottom of the first, and her three-run blast highlighted a five run second that put the game out of reach. Marinelli was 2-for-4 with four RBIs.
Hope Daruff also had a big day, finishing 3-for-4 and reaching base all four trips to the plate.
Emily Gillard earned the win, allowing five hits and one run in five innings. Alexis McConomy threw a pair of scoreless innings to close it out.
The win was the fifth in a row for the Titans since dropping four of their first five games after Maddie Decker went down with a torn ACL.
“I really am happy with the way things are going right now,” coach Charlie Hayes said. “We’re fielding the ball better, our pitchers aren’t walking too many people, and offensively, we’re hitting the ball a little bit. It’s a good combination right now.
“Maddie’s been around, showing her support and doing whatever she can. Everyone else is stepping up like I hoped they would.”
Central Bucks South upped its overall record to 12-5 (8-4 SOL). The Titans will host Nazareth Academy in a non-league game Saturday (11 a.m.).

HATBORO-HORSHAM 8, GARNET VALLEY 5
The Hatters celebrated Senior Night by earning an important non-league win over the Jaguars, and appropriately, it was the seniors who led the way.
Garnet Valley took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first, but the Hatters answered with three runs in the bottom of the inning. Jen Cader’s RBI single highlighted the inning. Senior Bria Cashman led off the second with a single, and Dee Moyer and Jaynie Black both had RBI singles in an inning that saw the Hatters plate three more runs to go on top 6-1. They took a 7-1 lead into the fourth when the Jaguars scored four.
Cashman was a perfect 3-for-3 with a double, RBI and one run scored, and according to coach Joe DiFilippo, she also made three incredible defensive plays at third base.
Kaeli Simmons was 2-for-3 with two RBIs while Black was 2-for-3 with an RBI. Cader scored three runs.
The Hatters upped their overall mark to 11-7 (6-6 SOL).
