STERLING LIMOUSINE AND TRANSPORTATION
PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
Sterling Limo Team of the Week
Harry S Truman – It’s impossible not to acknowledge a Tiger team that – for the first time in 22 games – defeated Neshaminy in a classic football game last Saturday night. There were plenty of heroes in Truman’s win in front of a homecoming crowd. The Tigers’ ground game accounted for 243 of the Tigers’ 330 yards of total offense.
Coach Mike LaPalombara says: “Truman required a complete team effort to beat Neshaminy 27-26 and snap a 21-game losing streak to the Redskins. The Tigers were led by Deondre Winton, Javeer Peterson, and James Koliyah. All three scored a touchdown, had game changing interceptions, and played on both sides of the ball.”

Sterling Limo Offensive Players of the Week:
First star: Jamir Barnes, Cheltenham – The junior running back played a role in both of his team’s touchdowns, scoring on an eight-yard run to put the visiting Panthers on top 7-0 and taking a screen pass 83 yards for a TD in Cheltenham’s 17-14 win over Quakertown. Barnes finished with 214 yards total offense – 118 on the ground and 96 in the air.
Coach Ryan Nase says: “The biggest difference between this year for us and last year is how we’re able to utilize him. I asked him at the start of the season to wear a bunch of different hats for us. We line him up sometimes as a true tailback, sometimes we play him in the slot, and we run what we call our 31 personnel where we line him up as a wide receiver. If you look at his stats individually as far as rushing, receiving, returning, none of them jump off the charts and then you say, ‘This is the same kid who has 500 yards rushing, he’s got 300 yards receiving, he’s got a hundred return yards.’ He’s a kid that literally does everything.”
First star: DeAndre Wakefield, Souderton – For the second time in as many weeks – a pair of Souderton wins, the junior running back had three rushing touchdowns, this time accumulating 133 yards on the ground on 10 carries in Souderton’s 38-33 win over Pennridge.
Coach Ed Gallagher says: “DeAndre had been a pleasant return to our lineup after his injury. He has regained his burst and explosiveness, running with reckless abandon since his return. I expect big things from DeAndre as his junior season progresses.”
Third star: Max Parry, Springfield Township – The senior quarterback completed 17-of-18 passes and threw four touchdowns in Springfield Township’s 33-6 win over Dover.
Sterling Limo Defensive Players of the Week
First star: TJ Harris, Cheltenham – The senior safety had three of his team’s four interceptions in Cheltenham’s 17-14 win over Quakertown.
Coach Ryan Nase says: “TJ is a guy that we debated about all the time – should be play him at corner or should we play him at safety. We went back and forth, back and forth, and we finally made a decision to play him at free safety. He has been a great centerfielder for us, and that’s exactly how he got those three picks. Obviously, we felt like we needed to stop the run because they have some really, really good backs, so played a bunch of man coverage, brought pressure and said, ‘You’re going to play center field,’ and he literally came out of nowhere to get those picks. There’s no chance that we beat Quakertown without being able to force five turnovers, and TJ was a big reason as to why we were able to do that.”
Second star: Tre Samuels, Souderton – The senior outside linebacker had eight tackles – three for a loss, a caused fumble and an interception that sealed the victory in Souderton’s 38-33 win over Pennridge.
Third star: Eric Woloshyn & Shemar Mills, Council Rock South – Woloshyn – at outside linebacker – had eight tackles and defensive tackle Mills had six tackles and 1.5 sacks to spearhead an outstanding defensive effort in Council Rock South’s 14-10 win over Abington.
Sterling Limo Special Teams Player of the Week
First star: Will Leyland, Souderton – The junior kicker was 5-for-5 on extra points, kicked a 38-yard field goal and had two kickoffs go for touchbacks in Souderton’s 38-33 win over Pennridge.
Coach Ed Gallagher says: “Will is a tireless worker at his craft. He also is a star player on our water polo team, but he always finds time to work on punting, place kicks, and kickoffs. Will has a bright future in both sports, if he wishes to pursue either one.”
Second star: Reese Gibbs, Abington – The Ghosts’ kicker and punter connected on a 40-yard field goal and averaged 36 yards a punt. Gibbs also was able to force a fumble on a kickoff at the end of the half, which resulted in his team’s lone touchdown in Abington’s 14-10 loss to Council Rock South.
Third star: Caleb Mead, Upper Moreland – The senior running back set the tone for Upper Moreland’s 47-30 win over Plymouth Whitemarsh, taking the opening kickoff back 76 yards for a touchdown. He also had 177 rushing yards and three touchdowns in another stellar outing.
Honorable Mention
Amir Bookard, Hatboro-Horsham – The senior running back had a productive night in Hatboro-Horsham’s 28-14 win over Wissahickon, finishing with 127 rushing yards and hauling in four passes for 55 yards and a touchdown.
Eddie Duala & Brad Mickles, Pennsbury – The duo proved to be double trouble out of the backfield with Mickles running for 130 yards and Duala, the ultimate finisher, with 54 yards and four touchdowns in Pennsbury’s 35-7 win over Council Rock North.
Shamar Edwards, North Penn – The senior running back ran for 145 yards and a touchdown in North Penn’s 31-21 win over Central Bucks East.
Drew Hensor, Pennsbury – The junior quarterback threw for 191 yards and one touchdown in Pennsbury’s 35-7 win over Council Rock North.
Chase Patterson, Council Rock South – The senior running back was the workhorse in Council Rock South 14-10 win over Abington, carrying the ball 27 times for 97 yards.
Jason Schweizerhof, William Tennent – The Panthers’ quarterback threw for 202 yards and a touchdown in William Tennent's 35-14 loss to Central Bucks West.
Andrew Vince, Souderton – The senior quarterback was 9-for-16 for 66 yards and also had 13 carries for 48 yards and a touchdown in Souderton’s 38-33 win over Pennridge.
