BASEBALL
Colton Hooker (Upper Moreland) was 1-for-4 with an RBI in Northampton’s 6-2 loss to number one seed Rowan College at Glouster County on Saturday in the Region XIX Final Four. Northampton was eliminated, falling later in the day to Cumberland (3-1). In Tuesday’s 4-3 win over Middlesex County College to earn a trip to the Region XIX Final Four, Hooker was 1-for-4 with a double and two RBIs.
Junior Cory Capaldi (Souderton) was 2-for-3 with an RBI in Pace University’s 7-3 loss to Saint Rose in an elimination game of the Northeast 10 Conference Championships on Friday.
Ryan Kelly (Hatboro-Horsham) earned his seventh save of the season in St. Joseph’s 7-6 win over Fordham in an Atlantic 10 Tournament game on Friday. He came in with a pair of runners on base, and although one run scored on a wild pitch, Kelly kept the Hawks’ lead in tact. He did not allow a hit and fanned a pair.
Gettysburg senior second baseman Steve Wright (Council Rock South) was named to the All-Centennial Conference second team. Wright batted .338 and led the team with 40 RBIs, a mark that was tied for third in the Centennial Conference and ranks sixth in single season school history. He also was the team’s top hitter in conference games, batting .406 while driving in 19 runs. He finished 4-for-6 in a win at McDaniel and was 3-for-4 with five RBIs and three runs in a win over Rivier. Making the move from shortstop to second base, he fielded .958 and set a school record with 119 assists.
Brennan Snyder (Central Bucks West) singled and drove in a run in Elizabethtown’s 10-4 loss to Susquehanna in the Landmark Championship game on Saturday.
Gwynedd Mercy freshman David Tatoian (Pennridge) was named to the Colonial States Athletic Conference first team. At the end of the regular season, he was tied for third in the CSAC in RBIs (35), seventh in on-base percentage (.457) and 10th in batting average (.358). In 18 conference games, he batted (.419) with 19 runs scored, 15 RBIs, six doubles and boasted a .565 slugging percentage. Overall, he is the team leader in hits (49), RBIs (35) and OPS (.932). Tatoian also had 16 multi-hit games and had a 23-game on-base streak.

Gwynedd Mercy sophomore Jason Mulvey (Bensalem) was named to the Colonial States Athletic Conference second team, picking up his second CSAC accolade. Last year, he was the conference rookie of the year. At the end of the regular season, he led the league in stolen bases (25) while batting .304 and posting 23 walks. His three triples ranked him sixth in the CSAC.
Tatoian was 2-for-4 with a RBI in Gwynedd Mercy’s 3-2 loss to Immaculata in an elimination game of the CSAC Tournament on Saturday. Shaughn Wright (Pennsbury) also was 2-for-4 on the day. David Blount (Harry S Truman), Chris Hens (Hatboro-Horsham) and Mulvey each added one hit. Blount’s 70 career stolen bases put him third on the all-time list while his five steals in one game is a school record. In Thursday’s 7-3 loss at Keystone in a tournament opening round game, Mulvey was 3-for-5.
Chestnut Hill senior first baseman Patrick Campion (Norristown) was named to the All-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) second team. The senior captain batted .285 (45-for-158) with a .449 slugging percentage and a .371 on-base percentage to produce career highs in home runs (6), RBIs (36), walks (22) and tying his career mark for runs (30). His six home runs tied him for third best in the CACC while his 16 stolen bases (16-for-23, .696) ranked him 10th among his league peers. Campion was a two-time CACC Weekly Honor Roll performer and was named the team’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) at this year’s awards reception.
Chestnut Hill senior catcher Robert Slagle III (Plymouth Whitemarsh) was named to the All-Central
Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) second team. Slagle came on strong at the end of the season to finish his final collegiate regular season with a .303 batting average (37-for-122) that produced a dozen runs, 18 extra base hits and 23 RBIs. His .500 slugging percent led the team as he paired two triples and two home runs with 14 doubles. He also stole two bases (2-for-2) and threw out three base runners while offering a .982 fielding percentage behind the plate.
Casey Saverio (Hatboro-Horsham) was 3-for-6 with a triple and run scored in East Stroudsburg’s 15-8 loss to Millersville in the 2016 PSAC Baseball Tournament on Monday. Conner Crookham (Hatboro-Horsham) was 1-for-5 with a walk and home run. On Tuesday, ESU saw its season end when the Warriors fell to Seton Hill 9-6 in an elimination game.
MEN’S GOLF
Widener sophomore Lenny Welch (Souderton) was named to the Middle Atlantic Conference Sportsmanship Team. The MAC Sportsmanship Teams recognize student-athletes who exemplify great character and demonstrate the act of sportsmanship both on and off the field. These student-athletes were selected by the head coaches from their respective teams. They represent their team, institution and the conference with high integrity and exhibit respect for themselves, teammates, coaches and opponents.
MEN’S LACROSSE
Senior Chris Schneekloth (Central Bucks East) contributed an assist and won 15-of-23 faceoffs in Cabrini’s 11-10 overtime loss to No. 5 Gettysburg in the second round of the NCAA Tournament on Saturday. In Wednesday’s 15-10 win over No. 10 Stevenson University, Schneekloth went 15-of-26 at the faceoff spot and shared the game lead with seven ground balls.
SOFTBALL
Arcadia freshman Jackie Bilotti (North Penn) was the 2016 MAC Commonwealth Rookie of the Year.
Along with Rookie of the Year, she was named to the First Team All-MAC Commonwealth. The two-time ECAC Rookie of the Week finished the regular season with a team-high .441 batting average, ranking her third in the MAC Commonwealth; she also led the team in hits (49), doubles (16), triples (2), slugging percentage (.590) and on-base percentage (.462). In the MAC Commonwealth, she ranks in the top five in on-base percentage while ranking top 10 in hits, doubles and slugging percentage. Bilotti also was named to the 2016 MAC Spring Sportsmanship Team. The teams include one student-athlete from each institution for each of the conference’s 10 sports. The MAC Sportsmanship Teams recognize student-athletes who exemplify great character and demonstrate the act of sportsmanship both on and off the field. Bilotti was 1-for-3 with a double and stolen base in Arcadia’s 4-3 win over Cabrini to capture the 2016 ECAC Division III South Championship. This marks the first ever ECAC Tournament win for the Knights.
Robert Morris University senior Haileigh Stocks (Central Bucks South) was named to the All-Northeast Conference second team. It was Stocks’ third all-league recognition of her career but her first at second base. She led the Colonials in RBIs (25) and extra-base hits (17) and was tied for the team lead in home runs with
eight. In conference play, she led the team in hitting (.367), hits (18), home runs (6), RBIs (14), total bases (39) and slugging percentage (.796). She ranked among the top five in the league in the conference in home runs, total bases and RBIs and was sixth in slugging. Four of her six homers in league play gave RMU the lead when it previously did not have it, and another pulled RMU even when it had been trailing by two runs. Stocks is the fourth Colonial to be named All-NEC at second base but the first to achieve the feat in 11 years.
Stocks had a pair of doubles and scored a run as Robert Morris forced LIU Brooklyn into a winner-take-all matchup in the Northeast Conference Tournament. RMU won the first game 3-1, ending the Blackbirds’ 16-game winning streak and forcing the winner-take-all contest that saw the Colonials fall 3-2. With her effort, Stocks moved into sole possession of second place all-time at RMU in doubles (36). Stocks’ 36 doubles helped her finish her career with 140 hits as she notched 68 runs and 75 RBIs in her career. In Friday’s 5-4 win in 15 innings, Stocks singled to drive in the tying run in the seventh inning and began RMU’s winning rally by singling to left center. In RMU’s 3-1 win over Bryant earlier in the day, Stocks singled and scored a run.
Fordham junior Lauren Quense (Neshaminy) was named to the All-Atlantic 10 second team. It is the first
postseason award of her career after firing a career-high 158.0 innings and leading the team with a 15-9 record in 37 appearances. The junior pitcher compiled a 3.46 ERA, threw seven complete games and had four shutouts while striking out 106. Quense became a starter following the loss of Rachel Gillen to injury and responded with a 7-3 record in 15 starts and a 2.86 ERA while allowing just 70 hits in 73.1 innings. She earned Pitcher of the Week honors once.
Quense earned the win in Fordham’s 5-1 win over St. Joseph’s in the championship game of the Atlantic 10 tournament on Sunday, allowing five hits and one run while fanning three and walking one. Earlier, the Rams – who needed to beat previously undefeated St. Joe’s twice – earned a 4-3 win over the Hawks in eight innings. In Saturday’s 1-0 win in 12 innings over Dayton, Quense reached base three times, more than any players in the game, with a single and two walks.
Lehigh University senior Morgan Decker (Central Bucks South) was named to the Academic All-Patriot
League team. She has garnered Academic All-Patriot League honors for the third straight year to go along with being a four-time All-Patriot League selection. The honor came less than a week after Decker was voted to the CoSIDA Academic All-District II team. She also was one of 30 candidates for the prestigious Senior CLASS Award. Decker carries a 3.73 cumulative GPA in behavioral neuroscience. In 2016, she earned second team All-Patriot honors at third base. She leads the Mountain Hawks with a .397 batting average, 16 doubles and six home runs and tops the Patriot League in walks and on-base percentage.
Decker drove in the only run in Lehigh’s 1-0 win over Bucknell in the opening game of the Patriot League Tournament on Thursday.
Mackenzie Obert (Pennsbury) hit a three-run home run to pace the offense in La Salle’s 6-4 win over Rhode Island in last Sunday’s season finale. Junior Suzanne Swanicke (Pennsbury) had a pair of hits while senior Erica Reis (Central Bucks East) hit an RBI double.
Freshman Marissa Alpaugh (Pennsbury) had a pair of hits in Cabrini’s 4-3 loss to Arcadia on Sunday in the ECAC South championship game. In Cabrini’s 10-1 loss to Arcadia earlier in the tournament, Alpaugh delivered an RBI single to plate her team’s only run.
MEN’S TRACK & FIELD
IUP sophomore Austin Cooper (Upper Merion) won the 1500m title at the 2016 PSAC Outdoor Championships on Saturday. It was Cooper’s second straight PSAC title in the event, finishing with a time of 3:56.53. On Friday, Cooper finished second in the 800 meters with a season-best time of 1:52.77, finishing in second place for the second straight year in the outdoor championships.
Ursinus sophomore Jequan Mitchell (Upper Merion) finished ninth in the long jump (19-9.50) at the Centennial Conference Outdoor Championships last Sunday. He also was part of the sixth place 4x400m relay (3:25.70).
Shippensburg junior Jalen Ramsey (Norristown) finished second in the high jump at the 2016 PSAC Outdoor Championships on Saturday, clearing 6 feet, 8 ¼ inches. Sophomore Alex Balla (Quakertown) placed fifth in the 5K with a time of 15:07.82. After a couple of deliberately paced opening laps, Balla posted nine consecutive laps between 71.1 seconds and 73.1 seconds before closing in 69.6 seconds. In two years with the Raiders, Balla has now placed twice in the 10K and once in the 5K at the PSAC Outdoor Championships. Shippensburg captured its eighth consecutive team title.
Lock Haven junior Lamier Dodson (Bensalem) was eighth in the hammer throw with a mark of 155-09.00 at the 2016 PSAC Championships on Saturday. Jack Felt (Council Rock South) added a ninth place finish in the 800 with a time of 1:56.92. Julien Freeman (Harry S Truman) was ninth with a season best mark in the long jump (22-01.50).
Kutztown sophomore Brandon Raguz (Central Bucks South) finished second in the pole vault, an eight-point placing to earn All-PSAC status, at the 2016 PSAC Outdoor Championships. He cleared 15-9 for an existing NCAA provisional mark for his best career outdoor championship finish. Raguz also finished second at the Indoor Championships in February. Senior thrower Chris Varichione (Quakertown) saved his best finish for his last hammer throw. His mark of 167-01 was good for sixth overall, the best finish of his career in the hammer. Anthony Bullaro (Pennsbury) finished fourth in the 110m hurdles with a time of 14.88. Jhaloni Johnson (Springfield) and Ron Smith (Neshaminy) both competed in their first career outdoor final of the 400m run. Johnson finished in fourth place in 49.44, one spot better than he ran in the indoor final in February. Smith, a senior, finished a career-best eighth in the 400 with a time of 50.92. Johnson also ran his first career final in the 200m and finished in sixth in 22.44.
James Wilson (Central Bucks South) was part of Bloomsburg’s 4×800 relay that set a school record with a mark of 7:56.79 at the 2016 PSAC Championships on Saturday, breaking the mark of 8:01.07 set in 2012. In the 400m hurdles, Alex Moran (Pennridge) was 16th in the prelims in a PR time of 58.18.
East Stroudsburg senior Eric Conard (Souderton), the defending PSAC champion in the decathlon, placed third at the 2016 PSAC Championships. Conard finished fifth in the javelin with a throw of 181-10. Sean Hagerty (Pennridge) placed fourth in the long jump (22-6 ¼).
WOMEN’S TRACK & FIELD
Temple junior Sydnee Jacques (North Penn) set a new personal best in the 100m hurdles (14.54) at the American Athletic Conference Championships on Saturday.
Ursinus sophomore Erin Farrell (Neshaminy) captured her second consecutive outdoor gold in the 200m dash, pairing it with two straight indoor golds, at the Centennial Conference Championships last Sunday with an ECAC-qualifying mark of 25.91. Farrell was sixth in the 100m dash that saw the top six runners separated by only .14 seconds. Sophomore Jenna Kelly (Upper Merion) was part of the bronze medal 4x400m relay with a time of 4:05.32. Farrell was part of the 4×100 relay that finished fifth with a tie of 50.40.
Shippensburg freshman Jackie Kinkead (Central Bucks East) excelled in the second half of the 5K and finished fifth in a field that included eight returning place winners at the 2016 PSAC Outdoor Championships on Saturday. She posted a time of 17:38.96, posting splits of either 1:24 or 1:25 until her final two laps. She closed on a 1:21 split. Lindsay Sheehan (Pennridge) was part of SU’s 4x100m relay that placed fourth in 48.16 seconds and also was part of the fifth place 4×400 relay (9:41.61). Freshman Allison King (North Penn), injured on Friday, came back to fight for a sixth place finish in the 100m with a time of 12.75 seconds, taking the awards stand on crutches. Abbie Todd (Council Rock North) and Carolyn Meier (Upper Dublin) were part of SU’s 4x800m relay that placed sixth with a time of 9:41.61. The Shippensburg women’s team captured the team title.
Gwynedd Mercy freshman Kaitlyn Lutz (Upper Merion) was named to the first team in the Colonial States Athletic Conference for taking first place in the 3000m steeplechase. Lutz earned a pair of second team honors in the 800 and 1500 meters for finishing second in both events. She notched a PR in the 800, clocking in at 2:24.49. Zakiyyah Richardson (Pennsbury) also took home a second team nod in the 400 meters for finishing second. She was fourth in the 200m and picked up a bronze in the 100 meters for placing third. She was part of the 4×100 and 4×400 relay teams that earned second team honors. The honorable mention list included Emily Makara (Council Rock South) in the 1500m and Ashley DiDomenico (Hatboro-Horsham) in the hammer throw. DiDominico hit a PR in the hammer throw (22.12 meters/72-7) to finish fourth.
Dara Lindsay (Central Bucks East), Emily Dusellier (Souderton) and Emily Magnant (Hatboro-Horsham) were part of West Chester’s 4x400m relay team that captured the gold with a time of 3:54.19. at the 2016 PSAC Outdoor Championships. The team returned three of four runners from last year’s runner-up squad. Dusellier was the newcomer. Lindsay, Magnant and Courtney Taylor (Central Bucks South) were part of the 4×100 relay that finished fifth with a time of 48.37, the seventh best time in school history. Dusellier placed fourth in the 800m run with a time of 2:15.94. Christine Johnson (North Penn) was sixth in the hammer throw with a toss of 143-06. Caroline DiJiosia (Plymouth Whitemarsh) finished 14th in the heptathlon with 2,803 points.
Bloomsburg junior Jessica Quesenberry (Wissahickon) earned her first podium finish by taking sixth in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 11:26.80 at the 2016 PSAC Championships. Quesenberry was steady throughout and closed the race by running her fastest lap (1:27) on the final lap. Keelan McDonald (Central Bucks West) placed 16th in the 5000m with a season-best time of 18:24.59.
Freshmen Leiana Dean (North Penn) and Victoria Matthews (Abington) were part of East Stroudsburg’s 4x400m relay that finished third with a time of 3:57.30 at the 2016 PSAC Championships, ESU’s best finish in the 4×4 since placing third in 2008. Matthews finished third in the high jump (5-5 ¼). In the 400m hurdle prelims, Kelley Anne Stuetz (Cheltenham) placed eighth with a time of 1:05.83.
