Freshman Khalil White (Cheltenham) had 16 points, four rebounds and four assists in Penn State Harrisburg’s 88-84 loss to St. Mary’s (Md.) on Saturday. In Wednesday’s 41-37 win over Frostburg State, White contributed 16 points, three assists and three rebounds.
Sophomore guard Jimmy Murray (Plymouth Whitemarsh) scored 16 points, which included 4-of-7 from beyond the arc, in Moravian’s 105-100 loss to Eastern Mennonite University in the second round of the Don Glick Classic at Bridgewater (Va.) College on Saturday. In Friday’s 94-92 double overtime victory over Bridgewater, Murray contributed 10 points.
Cabrini senior Ryan Charity (Pennsbury) was named to the Colonial States Athletic Conference weekly Honor Roll for the week ending Dec. 4. It is the first weekly honor for Charity, who averaged 13 points, five rebounds, two blocks and 2.5 steals off the bench last week. The senior recorded 14 points, seven boards, four assists, two steals and two blocks in an 88-75 win over Rosemont. He added 25 points and 17 boards to lead Cabrini to a 73-61 win at Marywood. Charity, the team’s lone senior, averages 13.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.5 steals per game. He is shooting 41 percent from the field in 27.8 minutes per game off the bench.
Freshman Tracy Simsick (Souderton) scored 10 points off the bench in DeSales University’s 82-72 win over Muhlenberg College on Saturday.
Josh McWilliams (Council Rock North) scored 16 points in McDaniel’s 53-43 win over Immaculata on Saturday.
Joe Russell (Hatboro-Horsham) grabbed a team-high and career-best eight rebounds in The College of New Jersey’s 90-68 non-conference victory over Delaware Valley University on Monday.
Freshman John Ryan (William Tennent) scored 16 points in Penn State Abington’s 103-75 rout of Penn College last Sunday.
Junior Zach Quattro (Hatboro-Horsham) fell just shy of a double-double with 15 points and nine rebounds in Ursinus College’s 81-65 loss to Eastern University on Saturday.
Arron Goodman (Council Rock North) registered 21 points and 10 rebounds – both game highs – for his second double-double of the season in Gwynedd Mercy’s 80-74 loss to No. 23 Susquehanna in the title game of the FNCB Monarch Classic on Saturday. Goodman was named to the all-tournament team. In Thursday’s 95-84 win over host King’s College, Goodman led the Griffins with 20 points and nine rebounds.
Amir Hinton (Abington) led the Lock Haven offense with 23 points and also had seven steals in the Bald Eagles’ 90-79 loss at the University of Pitt-Johnstown on Saturday.
Anthony Lee (Abington) scored a game-high 16 points in just 24 minutes in No. 16 Kutztown University’s 72-62 come-from-behind win over Seton Hill on Saturday. The Abington graduate connected on 7-of-12 shots from the floor and added a team-high six rebounds and three steals. Ryan Connolly (Souderton) was 4-for-8 from beyond the arc with 13 points and moved into a tie for fourth in program history with 176 career three-pointers. He also had six rebounds.
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
Holy Family senior Alexis Hofstaedter (Council Rock South) was among those named to the Central
Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women’s Basketball Weekly Honor Roll for the week ending Dec. 4. Hofstaedter shot 55 percent from the field and averaged 21.0 points per game. She began the week with a 14-point performance versus Chestnut Hill College. Hofstaedter filled the stat sheet with a season-high eight assists to go along with five rebounds and one steal. She followed that with a season-high 28 points on 12-of-18 shooting against Goldey-Beacom College. Hofstaedter also added a pair of assists and two steals on defense. In eight games this season, Hofstaedter is averaging 10.4 points, 3.8 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game while shooting at a 44.6 percent clip.
Hofstaedter had six assists in Holy Family’s 71-65 loss to the University of the Sciences on Saturday.
Freshman Jordan Vitelli (Central Bucks South) scored a career-high 22 points – knocking down 6-of-9 shots from the field and 4-of-6 from beyond the arc – in the University of the Sciences 71-65 overtime win over Holy Family University on Saturday. The CB South graduate converted a pair of free throws to give the Devils a 55-53 advantage with 1:26 on the clock, but Holy Family tied the score with 20 seconds remaining. Vitelli also pulled down a career-high eight rebounds while dishing out one assist and coming up with a steal in 24 minutes of action off the bench. Freshman Mikaela Giuliani (North Penn) contributed four points and five rebounds off the bench. In Tuesday’s 72-64 win over Wilmington University, Vitelli scored 20 points, burying 7-of-9 shorts from the field and 6-of-7 from beyond the arc. Giuliani added four points and four rebounds.
Freshman forward Lydia Konstanzer (Pennridge) exploded for a career-high 32 points, the most in program history by a rookie, in her first start, powering Ursinus College to a 64-47 Centennial Conference (CC) victory over Swarthmore on Wednesday night. Konstanzer, who matched her jersey number in points, finished 13-of-22 from the field and 6-of-8 at the foul line, adding 10 rebounds for her second double-double in three outings. The Pennridge grad had eight points and five rebounds in the first quarter and went into halftime with 18 points and seven rebounds, already a career high in scoring. Her performance gave the CC single game freshman scoring record of 35 a serious run. Konstanzer’s point total is the highest by a Bear since 1998. In Saturday’s 82-65 loss to defending Centennial Conference champion Muhlenberg, Konstanzer scored a game-high 17 points and also had nine rebounds.
Senior Lauren Crisler (North Penn) had six points and three assists in American University’s 72-67 loss to Hofstra on Saturday. In Wednesday’s 66-61 overtime win over reigning Atlantic 10 champion George Washington, Crisler had 10 points.
Freshman Cassidy Quattro (Hatboro-Horsham) scored 10 points and pulled down nine rebounds in Washington College’s 53-52 loss to Haverford on Saturday.
Alysha Lofton (Central Bucks South) recorded a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds in No. 20 Albright’s 79-69 win over Moravian on Saturday. In Wednesday’s 78-73 conference win over Widener, Lofton had 16 points and 16 rebounds.
Aigner Bookard (Cheltenham) scored 17 points in Cairn University’s 77-65 win over Wilson Phoenix on Wednesday night.
Alynna Williams (Plymouth Whitemarsh) scored 12 points in Philadelphia University’s 72-51 victory at Chestnut Hill University on Saturday. In Thursday’s 73-65 non-conference victory over West Chester, Williams finished with a career-high 18 points. In Tuesday’s 66-34 win over Georgian Court, Williams had 14 points on 6-of-12 shooting. She also had six rebounds and five assists.
Stephanie Knauer (North Penn) scored 12 points and pulled down six rebounds in Shippensburg’s 78-56 loss at No. 3 California on Saturday. In last Sunday’s 70-67 overtime loss at Seton Hill, Knauer scored a game-high 22 points.
Larissa Leyes (Upper Dublin) connected on three three-pointers and finished with 11 points in Gwynedd Mercy’s 65-54 win over King’s on Thursday.
Freshman Devan Rimmer (Pennridge) recorded 15 points to go along with four assists and three steals in Widener University’s 78-75 win over Lycoming on Saturday. In Wednesday’s 78-73 loss to nationally-ranked Albright, junior Allison Gallagher (Souderton) scored 21 points, connecting on 7-of-13 shots from the field, including all five attempts from long range. She also converted both of her free throws and also had five rebounds and three steals. Rimmer added 13 points and six assists.
Junior Vicky Tumasz (North Penn) came off the bench to lead Chestnut Hill with 11 points and five rebounds in the Griffins’ 72-51 loss to Philadelphia University on Saturday. In Wednesday’s 103-75 loss to the University of Bridgeport, Tumasz scored 15 points. In Tuesday’s 78-69 loss to Goldey-Beacom, Tumasz contributed 11 points, one rebound, two assists and a steal. She connected on 3-of-7 shots from beyond the arc.
FIELD HOCKEY
Ursinus College senior forward Amber Steigerwalt (Central Bucks South) repeated as a Longstreth/National
Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) All-American. She also was selected to the Philadephia Inquirer Academic All-Area Team, which is voted on by the sports information offices of the 28 institutions from the Philadelphia metropolitan area. A Health & Exercise Physiology major with minors in Spanish, Health Education and Performance Assessment, Steigerwalt tied for third in the Centennial Conference in both goals (16) and points (37), leading the Bears in both categories. She concluded her prolific career tied for fifth in goals (57) and sixth in points (140) at Ursinus. A first team All-CC and all-region selection each of the last two years, Steigerwalt, who made 81 career starts, helped lead the Bears to their fourth consecutive CC championship and a trip to the NCAA quarterfinals in 2016.
FOOTBALL
Delaware Valley University junior linebacker Nick Wright (North Penn) was selected to the Philadelphia
Inquirer Academic All-Area Team. For Wright, it is his second straight year earning the honor as he joins a group of just seven other repeat picks on this year’s Academic All-Area Team. Wright is a business administration major with a 3.77 grade-point average. On the field, he saw action in all 11 games and earned a spot on the All-Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) honorable mention team. He recorded 34 tackles (five for a loss), three interceptions, a team-best seven pass breakups, one sack and one forced fumble. Wright played his best game in a road victory versus archrival Widener University as he notched six tackles, one sack and a pass breakup. He was part of a Delaware Valley defense that ranked first in the MAC and 13th in all of Division III with 268.3 average yards against per game. The unit was also first in the MAC and 22nd in the country in rushing defense (92.5 ypg). The Aggies went 9-2 (7-2 MAC) and defeated Muhlenberg College for their second consecutive MAC Bowl Series championship. To be nominated for the Philadelphia Inquirer Football Academic All-Area Team, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore in class standing and maintain a 3.0 cumulative grade point average. The teams are then voted on by the sports information offices of the 30 institutions in the Philadelphia metropolitan area.
Albright sophomore kicker Kevin Goetz (Neshaminy) was named to the 2016 Division III South Region All-Star second team defense as selected by the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) and D3Football.com. Goetz has been clutch for the Lions, making a conference-best 10 field goals, including a 45-yard field goal against King’s College. He also averaged 38.4 yards per punt. The sophomore kicker also aids Albright’s defense on kickoffs as he averages 57.8 yards to keep opponents at bay.
Villanova senior defensive end Tanoh Kpassagnon (Wissahickon) was named to the
Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Team. Kpassagnon, who was named the CAA Football Defensive Player of the Year, had a league-best 21.5 tackles for a loss and 11.0 quarterback sacks during the season. He made 45 tackles overall (27 solo, 18 assists) and added two fumble recoveries, one forced fumble and one blocked kick. He scored his first career touchdown on a 25-yard fumble return in a win over Lafayette. Kpassagnon is a pro prospect and wrapped up his collegiate career with 105 total tackles, including 37.5 tackles for loss and 22.0 sacks. It was his second straight selection to the squad, and he is a three-time selection to the CAA Football All-Academic team.
Widener senior linebacker Steve Gozur (North Penn) was named to the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Team as voted by the sports information officers at 30 institutions in the Philadelphia metropolitan area. A chemical engineering major, Gozur is receiving the award for the second straight season after receiving CoSIDA Academic All-District Team recognition in November. He made the All-Middle Atlantic Conference First Team in 2016 and led the Pride in tackles for the second straight year with 89. The captain registered a league-best 69 solo tackles while also recording 4.5 sacks, forcing two fumbles and returning an interception 41 yards for a touchdown in a road win over Lebanon Valley. Off the field, Gozur is pursuing a leadership certificate at the Oskin Leadership Institute and is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers.
Widener sophomore defensive lineman Vince Char (William Tennent) was named to the Philadelphia Inquirer
Academic All-Area Team as voted by the sports information officers at 30 institutions in the Philadelphia metropolitan area. A mechanical engineering major, Char is being recognized for the first time after recently earning a spot on the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team. He also made the D3Football.com All-East Region Second Team and the All-MAC First team while tying for first in the league with teammate Byron Cooper by posting 16.5 tackles for a loss. In addition, Char ranked second in the league in sacks with eight.
WOMEN’S SOCCER
Washington and Lee sophomore midfielder Megan Engeland (Pennsbury) earned first team honors on the 2016 College Division Women’s Soccer All-State Team as named by the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID). Engeland made an appearance in all 20 games with 18 starts for the Generals. She ranked second on the team with 10 goals and 21 points. Engeland also had a team-high six game-winning goals, which ranked second in the conference. Earlier this season, Engeland was selected the ODAC Player of the Year and received first team all-conference and all-region honors. W&L wrapped up the 2016 campaign with a 15-4-1 overall record and an 8-1-1 conference mark. The Generals captured the program’s fourth ODAC title and a berth into the NCAA Tournament before falling to Hardin-Simmons 3-0 in the first round.
McDaniel junior goalkeeper Sarah McDonald (Pennsbury) was named to the National Soccer Coaches
Association of America (NSCAA) Division III first team Scholar All-East Region as well as a Scholar All-American. To be named to the NSCAA Scholar Team, a student-athlete must have a cumulative GPA of 3.3 throughout her career, start more than 50 percent of all games and be a significant contributor to the team and be nominated by an institution that is a current NSCAA College Services member. McDonald entered the semester with a 3.83 grade-point average in accounting/economics. Starting 20 games in goal, she posted a 0.67 goals-against average and .843 save percentage. Individually, she posted nine shutouts and was named the conference’s Defensive Player of the Week four straight times in October.
McDaniel junior defender Kristen Upton (Central Bucks South) was named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Division III second team Scholar All-East Region and Scholar All-American. To be named to the NSCAA Scholar Team, a student-athlete must have a cumulative GPA of 3.3 throughout her career, start more than 50 percent of all games and be a significant contributor to the team and be nominated by an institution that is a current NSCAA College Services member. Upton entered the semester with a 3.91 grade-point average in biochemistry and exercise chemistry. Starting all 22 games, she keyed a back line that posted a 0.58 goals-against average and 13 shutouts. She also contributed four goals.

Arcadia freshman Mark Preedy (William Tennent) placed 13th in the 50 freestyle with a time of 22.27 at the 2016 Eastern College Athletic Conference Winter Championships last Sunday at Long Island’s Nassau County Aquatic Center. Junior Jacob Schellinger (North Penn) placed 18th with a time of 22.53.
Albright sophomore Tyler Chamberlin (Springfield) placed fifth in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:00.86 at the Golden Ram Invitational on Saturday. Tim Resch (Springfield) finished the 200 breaststroke in 2:27.03 to finish 10th. On Friday, Chamberlin and Resch finished 23rd (2:15.72) and 24th (2:17.81) respectively in the 200 IM. Freshman Adam Thron (Hatboro-Horsham) placed 19th with a time of 5:09.86 in the 500 freestyle.
Senior Andrew Richey (William Tennent) tallied three PSAC championship qualifying times in IUP’s 173-121 loss to Clarion on Saturday. Richey earned wins in the 50 freestyle (22.14) and was part of the winning 200 free relay (1:27.50). He also recorded a third place showing in the 100 free (49.72).
WOMEN’S SWIMMING & DIVING
Marist junior Megan Berardelli (Wissahickon) was selected Metro Athletic Diver of the Week for the week ending Dec. 4 following her performance at the H2ounds Invitational. Berardelli was a double winner at the meet, posting first place scores of 244.95 points on the 1-meter board and 256.13 points at three meters. She was named Diver of the Meet.
Arcadia freshman Rachel Samson (Council Rock North) was part of the 400 freestyle relay that registered a fifth place time of 3:39.22 at the 2016 Eastern College Athletic Conference Winter Championships last Sunday at Long Island’s Nassau County Aquatic Center. The time crushed the previous mark of 3:44.19 set at last year’s conference championships. It was fastest among Division III programs. The CR North alum also was part of the 400 medley relay that placed third overall and first among Division III programs with a time of 4:03.23. That time was just 0.20 seconds shy of the program record in the event. Division II LIU Post won with a time of 3:52.31, edging Division I Wagner (3:52.42). Senior Megan Obarowski (Council Rock South) scored in the 200 individual medley, placing 23rd in 2:22.92.
Bridget Perdoch (Pennsbury) was part of Kutztown University’s winning 200 medley relay that posted a time of 1:55.55 in the Golden Bears’ 110-76 win over Cedar Crest on Saturday. She also finished third in the 100 IM (1:08.11). Aimee Watkins (Hatboro-Horsham) was fourth in the 100 free with a time of 1:04.32. Caitlyn Falguera (Hatboro-Horsham) was part of KU’s second place 200 medley relay (2:03.99).

University of Pittsburgh senior Chris Spadaro (Council Rock South) finished second in the triple jump (14.25m) at the Golden Flashes Gala hosted by Kent State on Saturday.
WRESTLING
Junior Philip Torresani (Hatboro-Horsham) collected his 50th career victory in shorthanded Elizabethtown’s 34-13 loss at Johns Hopkins on Tuesday. The Hatboro-Horsham graduate earned the victory by forfeit when Johns Hopkins could not fill its 125-pound slot. The win improved Torresani’s career record to 50-34.
Sophomore Dylan Nuttall (Harry S Truman) earned a tech fall win (20-2) in York College’s win over Apprentice School at the Waynesburg Quad meet on Saturday afternoon. It was the 16th win of the season for Nuttall.
