North Penn picked up its second win in as many days in Myrtle Beach on Tuesday.
NORTH PENN 4, PAINSVILLE-RIVERSIDE 0
While Tuesday was a washout for most SOL teams, the Knights were the exception as they were enjoying sunshine and balmy 75-degree weather in Myrtle Beach. When they took the field to face Painsville-Riverside from Ohio, they needed just one hour and 18 minutes to pick up their second win in as many days.
Danny Kirwin stole the spotlight with his 70-pitch masterpiece. The junior pitcher tossed six shutout innings, scattering three singles while fanning six and walking none. Allen Vuong threw a scoreless inning in relief, allowing one hit.
Senior Dan Drop was the game’s offensive star, finishing the day 2-for-3 with a home run.
The Knights put two runs on the board in the fourth. Tyler Siddal doubled to open the inning, and Nate O’Donnell was safe at first on a bunt. Corey Stouffer’s sacrifice fly to right plated Siddal, and O’Donnell scored on an RBI single by Drop.
In the fifth inning, the Knights added an insurance run when Trace Coulter delivered an RBI single. Drop’s solo home run in the sixth closed out the scoring.
North Penn (2-0) will be back in action on Wednesday.
