ABINGTON 15, CHELTENHAM 1 (5 innings)
The Ghosts scored five runs in the first inning to take command of Saturday morning’s non-league contest between the neighboring schools.
Meg Burdziak did it all for the Ghosts. She earned the win in the circle with a nifty two-hitter that included eight strikeouts in five innings. She also was a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate with one RBI and three runs scored.
Olivia Bernstein had a monster day at the plate, delivering a grand slam and finishing the game 3-for-4 with six RBIs and two runs score. Jess O’Neil was 3-for-4 with three runs scored, and Renee Reynolds was 3-for-4 with one RBI and three runs scored.
Morgan Gianelle tripled and scored the Panthers’ only run.
Abington (4-5, 1-4 SOL) will host Central Bucks East in a non-league game on Monday, and Cheltenham (0-7, 0-5) will be on the road at Springfield Township on Tuesday.

PERKIOMEN VALLEY 2, COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 1
Steph Andreoli pitched well enough to win on most days, allowing six hits while striking out two and walking three, but PV’s Kelly Wild proved to be double trouble for the Golden Hawks. The Vikings’ senior hurler, a second team all-state selection last year, allowed just three hits while striking out four and walking a pair.
“It was great pitching performances,” coach Greg Heydet said. “We pulled off two big-time double plays to keep the game close.”
Wild also reached base three times with a triple and two walks.
Council Rock South (6-3, 2-2 SOL) will host Bensalem on Tuesday.
