BASEBALL
Joe Molettiere (Pennridge) allowed just two hits in six shutout innings in Monmouth’s 2-0 win over Iona in game one of a doubleheader split on Friday. Danny Long (Pennridge) made his second appearance of the season on the mound to earn his first collegiate save, allowing no hits and striking out two in one shutout inning. In Thursday’s 11-5 win over Iona, Long singled and drove in a run. In Tuesday’s 7-2 win at Seton Hall, Long drove in two runs and pitched a spotless ninth inning in his first collegiate appearance, firing a one-two-three ninth inning. Long is the only Hawk to start all 45 games this season.
Nick Ponente (Council Rock South) was 1-for-4 in second-seeded Arcadia’s 5-0 loss to fourth-seeded Salve Regina at the 2018 NCAA Division III New England Regional on Saturday.
Reliever Zach Conley (Pennsbury) closed the door over the last 2.1 innings to earn the save in Northampton’s 4-3 win over No. 1 Cumberland on its home field to advance to the Region XIX Championship games.
Elizabethtown sophomore outfielder Mike Christy (North Penn) was named to the All-Landmark Conference
second team. Christy transferred from Bloomsburg following his freshman year, though he didn’t play for the Huskies in 2016. He’s come up with multiple timely hits for the Blue Jays, none bigger than his two-strike, two-out, walk-off grand slam in a 4-3 game two victory over Juniata on April 30. Christy is hitting .353 (55-for-156) with eight doubles, four homers and a team-leading 35 RBIs this season. He’s third in the Landmark in hits and fourth in RBIs while ranking second on the team in batting average, hits and home runs. Christy has also shown the versatility to fill in at the corner infield spots when necessary.
Christy had two hits in Elizabethtown’s 13-5 victory over Maritime (N.Y.) on Friday in an elimination game at the NCAA Division III Mid-Atlantic Regional. In Thursday’s 8-6 loss to Wheaton (Mass.), Nick Bein (Abington) was 2-for-5.
Jon Fisher (Plymouth Whitemarsh) threw 110 pitches in seven-plus innings to earn the win in 14th-ranked West Chester’s 5-4 victory over Winston-Salem State in the NCAA Atlantic Regional opener on Thursday. Jared Melone (North Wales) hit an RBI single that put the Golden Rams up 5-2.
Senior Trey Guaglionona (Abington) was named the Penn State Abington Outstanding Male Student-Athlete. This award is the oldest and most prestigious award in Penn State Abington’s history. These awards honor two student-athletes, one male and one female with distinguished intercollegiate athletic careers. These student athletes must demonstrate leadership, character and good morals. The athletes must be at least a two-year varsity athlete and have a 3.0 GPA in the current year.
Ursinus College sophomore David Drea (Central Bucks South) was named to the Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll for the spring 2017. To be named to the CC Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must be a sophomore or higher in class standing and carry a cumulative GPA of at least 3.40.
MEN’S BASKETBALL
Freshman John Ryan (William Tennent) was named the Penn State Abington Male Rookie of the Year. This award is presented to the most outstanding male and female athlete during their first season of participation. These athletes are required to have earned at least a 2.75 GPA during the current year.
MEN’S GOLF
Cabrini junior Clay Anders (Souderton) posted a two-day score of 166 (82, 84) at the
2017 NCAA Division III Championships in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla.
Senior Mike Lam (Neshaminy) was named the Penn State Abington Male Athlete of the Year. This award is presented to a student-athlete who has demonstrated superiority in their sport and has completed at least their second varsity year.
MEN’S LACROSSE
Princeton freshman Michael Sowers (Upper Dublin) was honored on the first Inside Lacrosse/Media All-America team. He was named a second team All-American attackman after a season in which he set a Princeton record with 82 points (41 goals, 41 assists) while becoming the first player in program history – the fifth Ivy Leaguer and second Division I freshman – ever to have at least 40 goals and assists in a season. McBride set the Ivy records for goals and points by a freshman and finished the regular season second in Division I in points.
WOMEN’S LACROSSE
Penn State Abington junior Bridget Meade (Upper Moreland) won the Fred Striet Memorial Award presented to a student-athlete who demonstrates the “leadership and character, pride in academics, and growth and perfection through sports.” The Fred Striet Memorial Award was established in 1993 to honor Fred Sriet, a Penn State Ogontz varsity baseball player. Fred pitched the only perfect game in Penn State Ogontz baseball history. His collegiate athletic career was cut short when he died in a car accident returning home from University Park in 1992.
East Stroudsburg junior midfielder Chessie Rahmer (Souderton) was named to the IWLCA Division II All-
America third team. Rahmer helped lead ESU to its first ever PSAC championship, PSAC regular season title and NCAA Division II Tournament appearance during a record-setting season. The Souderton graduate was ESU’s top scorer with 50 goals and 60 points and ranked second on the Warriors in caused turnovers (35), ground balls (55) and draw controls (56). She helped ESU rank second in the PSAC in scoring (13.2 goals per game) and third in caused turnovers, ground balls and draw controls per game. She scored 24 of her 50 goals in ESU’s nine games against nationally-ranked opponents. She had at least three goals in nine of 20 contests and recorded double figure points in all but three games. Rahmer has 97 goals and 20 assists through three seasons, along with 80 caused turnovers, 134 ground balls and 124 draw controls as a two-way midfielder.
University of Georgia junior Julie Norek (Central Bucks East) was named to the 2017 UGA Division One all-tournament team. Georgia finished in third place after capturing the national club team title in 2016. Norek had four goals in the team's opening round win over San Diego Sate and had two goals against Colorado State. In a semifinal loss to Pitt, Noreck had three goals and added one in Georgia's playback win for third place. For the second consecutive year, Norek earned first team UGA All-American recognition.
SOFTBALL
Brown senior Julia Schoeneweld (Central Bucks East) earned All-Ivy honorable mention. A three-year captain, Schoenewald earned the program’s Best Defensive Player Award in 2017 as the team’s field general at catcher. She tallied a .250 batting average, 23 hits, five doubles, two triples, two home runs, 15 RBIs and 12 runs while posting a .355 on-base percentage and .413 slugging percentage.
Arcadia sophomore shortstop Jackie Bilotti (North Penn) was named to the All-ECAC first
team. The 2017 MAC Commonwealth Player of the year and National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Region Second Team honoree led the Knights’ offense with a .436 batting average on a single-season program-record 68 hits, including 13 doubles, six triples and two home runs. The North Penn graduate held a .635 slugging percentage and .491 on-base percentage while scoring 40 runs and driving in 27 more. She also stole 21 bases. Bilotti was named to the first team All-MAC Commonwealth while finishing the season atop the conference leaderboard in hits, triples and runs scored and finishing in the top five in five categories.
Fordham senior Lauren Quense (Neshaminy) was named to the 2017 NFCA All-Mid Atlantic Region first team. The Neshaminy graduate has been a large reason for the team’s success this season as the Rams’ go-to ace, tallying career-best numbers across the board, including a 22-11 record, 35 starts, 18 complete games, and a 2.49 ERA. The senior has notched 123 strikeouts in 205.2 innings and has entered the top five of several major pitching records in school history, including becoming the seventh Ram to reach 40 career victories. Quense also earned First Team All-Conference and CoSIDA Academic All-District honors. She was named A-10 Pitcher of the Week six times, and earned All-Championship accolades after starting and going the distance in three of the Rams’ four games.
Quense was 1-for-3 with a run scored in Fordham’s 9-3 win over Mississippi State in an elimination game in the Salt Lake City Regional on Friday. Fordham finished third and closed out its campaign with a 46-17 overall record and 1-2 record in the Salt Lake City Regional.

La Salle senior Christina Bascara (Pennsbury) was selected as an Atlantic 10 Postgraduate Scholar. Each of
the league’s 14 member institutions has a graduating student-athlete that will receive the prestigious award. All 14 honorees will receive $5,000 to contribute towards full-time enrollment in a graduate or professional program. Bascara, the 2017 La Salle University Female Scholar Athlete of the Year, was named second team All-Conference in 2015 and was named to the All-Rookie team in 2014. She also received the Explorer Excellence Award for demonstrated leadership, character, sportsmanship and best exemplified values of their team. Bascara was a member of the Dean’s List all four years and a member of the National Honor Society of Collegiate Scholars along with being a member of Alpha Epsilon Delta, the pre-medical honor society. The Pennsbury graduate has served as a lead researcher in the Flagship Leader of Neurobiology Research Group, she is a tutor in biology, chemistry and anatomy, and volunteers as a softball coach for the Newtown Softball Organization. Bascara has additionally volunteered at the St. Mary Medical Center along with other local community groups and organizations.

Joe McCoy (Neshaminy) was part of Gwynedd Mercy’s 4×100 relay that took seventh in a final time of 43.25 at the ECAC Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships hosted by Westfield State University on Thursday
McCoy was 16th in the long jump with a top mark of 6.25 meters (20-6.25) at the Swarthmore Last Chance meet last Monday. Chris Laskowski (William Tennent) clocked a new PR (23.75) in the 200-meter dash.
Kutztown junior Brandon Raguz (Central Bucks South) was honored with his selection to the 2017 USTFCCA All-Region team for his performance in pole vault. Raguz was the highest-ranked Golden Bear in the region as his cleared height of 5.01m (16-05.25) at last week’s Georgian Court University Last Chance Meet ranks seconds. It is also tied for 18th in all of Division III, which gave the junior one of the final three positions in the field of 20 in pole vault at the upcoming NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. The height moved Raguz into fourth all-time in Kutztown’s record book. The junior is a four-time All-Region and All-PSAC selection.
La Salle senior Fran Ferruzzi (Upper Dublin) competed in the 5000m event at the IC4A/ECAC Championships last Sunday, posting a time of 15:19.84. The UD graduate shaved 11 seconds off his personal best to set a new individual standard as he finished 14th in the field.
La Salle’s Chris Trimble (North Penn) clocked a time of 4:00.85 in the 1500m event at the Swarthmore Final Qualifier last Monday.
Lock Haven junior Lamier Dodson (Bensalem) earned 2017 USTFCCCA All-Atlantic Region honors in the hammer throw.
WOMEN’S TRACK & FIELD
Ursinus College senior Erin Farrell (Neshaminy) earned second team All-Centennial Conference honors as a member of the 4×400 relay team that posted a time of 4:02.36, the fastest time by a Bears’ relay team in five years. It was the eighth conference relay medal for Farrell.
Farrell received Academic All-Centennial honors for garnering a spot on the All-CC Team and Academic Honor Roll. To be named to the CC Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must be a sophomore or higher in class standing and carry a cumulative GPA of at least 3.40.

Bloomsburg senior Jessica Quesenberry (Wissahickon) was named All-Region by the US Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association for the 2016-17 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field season. Quesenberry wrapped up her 2017 season by finishing second in the 5000m steeplechase in a time of 11:07.51, less than five seconds behind the winner.
Moravian junior Casie Cronk (Quakertown) placed second in the high jump with a PR of 1.64 meters (5-4.5) at the 2017 ECAC Division III Outdoor Championships hosted by Westfield State University on Thursday. It is the second best height in school history.
Cronk and senior Lauren Suelke (Quakertown) were named to the 2017 Landmark Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll. The honor roll recognizes spring student-athletes of sophomore standing or older with a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher. The student-athletes must complete the spring season in good standing with their team. Suelke also earned a spot on the All-Conference second team.
Kutztown sophomore Stephanie Bresadola (North Penn) was named to the 2017 USTFCCA All-Region team for her performance in the 1500m. The North Penn graduate finished in 4:43.53 at the Bison Outdoor Classic in April to move into the program’s top 10 in ninth place.
