“As the game went on, we stepped up, connected on our passes and were able to get the ball in their circle. Peyton Ritchey did a great job at leading the offensive charge, getting corners and distributing the ball. Jamie Pennington, Kayla Connelly and Sophie Schardt really stepped up as the game went on, stepping to the ball, working hard, moving up and down the field together and making good passes. This was a great team win.”

CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 4, CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 0
For those who thought the Patriots would struggle with the loss to graduation of three first team all-league players from last year’s conference championship squad, guess again.
As beginnings go, they don’t get much better than the Patriots’ 4-0 start, and coach Meghann Spratt ran out of adjectives to describe her team’s performance its most recent win.
“It was amazing,” the Patriots’ first-year coach said. “We came out, we were fired up, and they came ready to play.
“It truly was probably the best hockey I’ve seen East play in the last five years I’ve been coaching. It was absolutely amazing – it was so strong, and there was never a letdown. I have 21 players on my roster, and every player played. It was incredible. Every single one of my girls gave 100 percent, and it was a true team effort. It was a great win for all of them.”
Cailey Lever put the Patriots on the board with a goal three minutes into the game.
“As a captain, she set the tone, and from then on, we just didn’t let up,” Spratt said.
With 17:45 remaining in the half, Phia Mannino scored on a corner shot, using a Cailey Lever assist. The Patriots took that 2-0 lead into the intermission.
Kenzie Lever scored on a rebound off the goalie’s pads, and Emma Donnelly turned a Phia Mannino pass into the game’s final goal.
“The last goal of the game was by far the prettiest goal,” Spratt said. “Phia worked the ball down the right, made a lot of pretty moves and just laid it across. Emma one-timed it into the back of the net.
“It was so pretty, and it epitomized how well our passing game was today and just how tenacious we were. Every single person just didn’t give up. It was really fun.”
After drawing 41 corners in its last two games combined, East was awarded just six corners but capitalized on one of them.
East goalie Emily Bullard was credited with seven saves in the shutouts.
“She played great,” Spratt said. “She was just a huge voice in the back. She was directing people, she was very vocal, she came up with some big saves and clears. She was one of my stars today as well as Elizabeth Philipp, who shut down a couple of their key players over and over in the back.
“Molly Eron and Grace Bethke, my other two backs, played stellar defense the entire game as well.”
The absence of the oppressive heat of the past week also was a welcome relief.
"It was like a blanket was lifted off my team," Spratt said. "The weather changed, and I just think everyone felt good."
South coach Pat Toner, whose team entered the game with a 2-0 record, tipped her hat to the Patriots.
“CB East is fast, highly-skilled and athletic,” the Titans’ coach said. “They are able to spread out the field and connect on penetrating passes very quickly.
“We hoped we could slow the game down and deny the pass, but we never managed to do so. CB East controlled the pace of the game, beat us to the ball, and did a great job of finishing. Although we are very disappointed in the loss and our play we will learn from this game and work hard to be ready for the next time we play them.”
Central Bucks East (4-0, 2-0 SOL) will travel to North Penn on Wednesday, and Central Bucks South (2-1, 1-1) will host Souderton on Wednesday.

NORTH PENN 4, PENNSBURY 1
The Knights – with a week off between games – rebounded from their season-opening loss to Methacton to defeat the visiting Falcons in a non-league contest.
“The Knights were hungry to play a game today as they haven’t played a game since the season opener last Friday due to the heat,” coach Shannon McCracken said. “(We) scored three of four goals on penalty corners, connected well on the field and played as a team on both ends of the field.”
Just over five minutes into the game, Emily Crawford put the Knights on the board, using a Jillian Lampitoc assist. Six minutes later, Kristin Varilla scored with an assist from Crawford, and that 2-0 scored stood until halftime.
Lampitoc turned a pass from Eleni Kountroubis into a goal seven minutes into the second half, and it was a 4-0 North Penn lead when Amberly Christiansen scored with an assist from Alex Fein. Maya Geller put the Falcons on the board with 17:44 remaining in regulation for the 4-1 final.
“Midfielder Emily Crawford (one goal, one assist), forward Jillian Lampitoc (one goal, one assist) and back Meghan Daniels (one defensive saves) led the way for the Knights,” McCracken said. “The defense played solid today, only allowing five shots and two penalty corners from a fast Falcons’ forward line.”
