SOL American Conference
Abington 16, Plymouth Whitemarsh 10
The start wasn’t what Abington was looking for, but the finish was fine as the host Ghosts posted an American Conference win over Plymouth Whitemarsh on Friday.
Kaley Ehnow, Abby Thomas and Shea Gormley (four draw controls) each scored four goals to aid Abington.
“We had a slow start today,” Abington coach Mary Elizabeth Klepper said. “PW came out and won the first draw and had a quick goal.
“It was a back and forth game until we were finally able to take the lead and continue to grow the lead.”
Maddie Hinkle (five draw controls) contributed a pair of goals while Kelly McCallister (one assist) and Grace Hinkle (five ground balls) each had a goal.
Jamira Mashore and Abby Johnson each had three assists in the victory and Sam Raymond notched six ground balls. Anna Joseph also had three caused turnovers and goalie Ellie Hughes made nine saves.
“We gave up too many fouls, giving PW eight-meter shots,” Klepper said. “We had a lot of players step up with three scoring four goals each.”
With the win, the Ghosts moved to No. 7 in the latest PIAA District One Class 3A power point rankings. The top 24 teams at the end of the regular season will qualify for the district tournament.
Abington (13-2,7-0 SOL) will host Upper Dublin on Monday, and Plymouth Whitemarsh (4-10, 2-5) will travel to Spring-Ford for a non-league game on Saturday.

Upper Moreland 14, Pennridge 10
The visiting Golden Bears roared out of the gate to a 5-1 lead, but the Rams battled back to knot the score 6-6 at halftime. The Bears scored three straight goals to go on top 9-6, and while the Rams pulled to within two, the Bears answered with a four-goal run to go on top 13-8 on their way to the non-league win.
“In the first half, our defense had great pressure and was able to cause turnovers just with our pressure – they really looked great,” coach Kim Frantz said. “We had a player step up big tonight as we were missing a starter who was sick. Senior Nicole Calligiuri stepped in and did a really great job and helped our defense get the stops we needed. Sarah Pickard again had some key saves at the end of the game to keep us with the lead.
“After a tough loss on Wednesday (to Abington) I am really proud of how we bounced back and played Pennridge tough. We needed this win today to get our confidence up going into our final week of regular season play.”
Pickard turned away 14 shots in goal for the Golden Bears.
Bryanna Gordon and Meghan O’Donnell led the Bears’ attack with four goals each. O’Donnell added two assists and a draw control. Moira Olexa had two goals, three assists and six draw controls. Emma Meakim (three assists), Cassidy Hirsch (one assist, three draw controls), Bella Guarenghi and Alexis Lamb (two draw controls) each added one goal. Kat Morrow had one draw control, and AbbyEllen Wood chipped in an assist.
Upper Moreland (11-3, 6-1 SOL) will travel to Souderton on Monday, and Pennridge (4-10, 2-4) will be on the road at Council Rock South Monday.

Central Bucks South 17, Chichester 3
Central Bucks South used a complete team effort to post a 17-3 triumph over visiting Chichester in a non-league game Friday.
The Titans received goals from nine players with Fran Richick leading the way with four goals to go along with three assists.
Anna Green (three assists) and Tegan Mullan (one assist) each netted three goals while Janessa Watson (one assist) added a pair of tallies.
Bridget Curtis (two assists), Kate Victor (one assist), Megan Weeks, Kelsey McDonald and Ashley Timby each had one goal and Maddie Cooper had an assist. Goalie Katelyn Wendling made three saves in the win.
With the win, the Titans moved to No. 23 in the latest PIAA District One Class 3A power point rankings. The top 24 teams at the end of the regular season will qualify for the district tournament.
Central Bucks South (9-5, 3-3 SOL) will host Pennsbury on Monday.
Chichester 1 2 – 3
Central Bucks South 11 6 – 17
North Penn 11, Hatboro-Horsham 6
North Penn built a comfortable lead by halftime on the way to an 11-6 non-league win over host Hatboro-Horsham on Friday.
“This was a good win for us,” North Penn coach Heather Mellow said. “We knew Hatboro would be a tough competitor.”
The Knights got their offense going early and had a 7-2 advantage by intermission.
Grace Sacchetti (seven draw controls) and Lily Szilagyi (one assist) each had three goals in the victory while Alli Lindsay and Kristin Varilla both had two goals and an assist. Casey Cavanaugh also had a goal in the win and Shannon Haedrich caused four turnovers.
Goalie Ashley Lambert notched 10 saves for the Knights.
Aubrey Leibfreid led the Hatters with two goals and an assist and Camryn Ryan had a goal and four draw controls.
With the win, the Knights moved to No. 18 in the latest PIAA District One Class 3A power point rankings while the Hatters are at No. 22. The top 24 teams at the end of the regular season will qualify for the district tournament.
North Penn (9-7, 6-1 SOL) will travel to Council Rock North on Wednesday, and Hatboro-Horsham (9-6, 4-3) will host Wissahickon on Monday.

Council Rock South 17, Villa Joseph Marie 11
Council Rock South used a furious second-half rally to post a non-league win over host, and neighbor, Villa Joseph Marie on Friday.
The Golden Hawks trailed 6-5 at halftime before roaring back with a dozen goals after halftime to secure the victory. Coach Madison Hurwitz pointed to the play of goalie Aspen Handel for bringing a spark in the second half.
Claudia Steinmetz led the way for four goals in the victory while Rianna Shields (one assist), Katelyn Cocco (one assist) and Izzi Mendez each netted a hat trick.
Lauren Brown (one assist) and Paige Goldberg each contributed a goal in the win.
Council Rock South (5-8, 2-4 SOL) will host Pennridge on Monday.
