NESHAMINY 2, COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 1
The Redskins were looking for a big win after dropping back-to-back games to Owen J Roberts and Central Bucks East to open the season, and on Friday, they got just that. Leading the way, according to coach Jamie Pinto, were the team’s three captains.
“They really stepped up today,” the Redskins’ coach said of Brooke Cordisco, Jamie Pennington and Peyton Ritchey. “We moved Brooke back, and she played really strong defense today. We’ve been moving all over just to try and fill holes. She really stepped up playing defense. Jamie controlled the center and scored two goals, and Peyton was a force at the top. She used her speed and skill to get many opportunities in the circle and distributed the ball well.”
With the score deadlocked 1-1 and five minutes remaining in regulation, it was Ritchey and Pennington teaming up for the game-winner. Ritchey carried the ball down the field, and Pennington turned Ritchey’s crossing pass into a goal.
“During the second half, we picked it up,” Pinto said. “It was a total team effort the second half. This is what we’ve been looking for from our girls, especially after the way we played against Owen J Roberts and (Central Bucks) East. We didn’t play the way we played today. This is how we need to play every game.
“We played well as a whole team. We have spots we need to fill, but every girl who stepped on the field really just played hard.”
In the opening half, it was Pennington scoring her first of two goals to spot the Redskins a 1-0 lead, this time using a pass from Madi Neiman.
“Madi Neiman played hard at right mid, playing good defense and attacking in the circle,” Pinto said.
Kerry Kaufman answered with a goal for the Golden Hawks, and that 1-1 tie stood until Pennington’s goal that gave the Redskins their second win in as many outings in conference play.
“Our non-league games matter, but league games – everybody is out for each other, and South is always a good rival,” Pinto said. “They’re always a strong team, and after losing to (CB) East – we were right there but lost in overtime, we needed a good win. We needed to come together as a team and play hard together.
“What we worked on at practice yesterday after losing our two games kind of really came out today. The girls put it together, they worked hard, and they deserved this win today. Everyone that stepped on the field today contributed to the win. It was a good win for us.”
Neshaminy (1-2, 1-1 SOL) will be on the road at Harry S Truman on Tuesday, and Council Rock South (2-2, 1-1) will be on the road at Central Bucks East for a non-league game Monday.

Eighteen minutes into the game, Kenah scored the Indians’ lone goal of the opening half, using a Gwiazdzinski assist.
Kate Martin (Kenah/Gwiazdzinski assists) found the cage to make it a 2-0 game four minutes into the second half. PLYMOUTH WHITEMARSH 3, SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP 2
Kileigh Missimer’s goal on a penalty corner in the second half broke a 2-2 tie and vaulted the Colonials to the hard fought win.
“Kaliegh Missimer was able to convert one of (our corners) after dribbling past the defensive flyer and dragging a strong shot into the cage,” PW coach Charise Halteman said of Missimer’s game-winner. “Today’s game was a tightly contested match against Springfield in the rain.
“The intensity level was high for the whole game as PW showcased some great passing and dribbling skills while Springfield’s defenders stood their ground and put the attack under pressure.”
Earlier, Ava Borkowski – who also had an assist in the game – put the Colonials on the scoreboard, but the Spartans got that back when Ella Marino capped a passing sequence from Maddie Yoder and Anya Kochanowicz with a goal. The two teams went into halftime deadlocked 1-1.
Less than four minutes into the second half, Hailey Copestick knocked the ball into the cage after Borkowski’s shot went behind the keeper. Marino answered with her second goal of the game, this time using a Molly McGoldrick assist.
“Springfield Township turned in a solid performance and complete team effort,” assistant coach Anita Stum said. “Today was a great Suburban One American Conference matchup.
“It was a solid performance from the entire team. The coaching staff is very proud of the work these fine young women are putting in.”

The Trojans took a 1-0 lead into halftime. Lauren Donofrio scored with 17:38 remaining in the half, using an assist from Ball. Ten minutes into the second half, the Hatters tied the score when Katie Schmidt found the net, turning an Abby Roesing pass into the equalizer. PENNRIDGE 2, QUAKERTOWN 0
Despite a strong defensive effort by the visiting Panthers, the Rams scored a goal in each half in Thursday’s shutout win.
“The last few games we were really strong at finishing in the circle,” Pennridge coach Becky Spahr said. “Today we struggled. With 33 shots on goal (not including all the shots not on cage) and 23 corners, we have to be more productive in the circle going forward.
“Big credit to Quakertown’s goalie, team defense and PC defense who fought the entire game to keep us out of the net. We are happy to win and will focus on circle play over the next few practices.”
Maddie Bross scored with four minutes remaining in the first half, using an Emily Amsden assist. Macy Price (Payton Muth assist) tacked on an insurance goal in the second half.
The Rams held a decisive advantage in shots (33-1) and corners (23-2). Quakertown’s goalie was credited with 30 saves. Maia Machado was forced to make just one save in the shutout win.
