Nonleague
Wilson 16, Plymouth Whitemarsh 10
Wilson’s fast start was enough to doom Plymouth Whitemarsh in Thursday’s nonleague game. Though the Colonials managed to overcome an early 6-2 deficit to claw back to within one goal at 9-8, the visitors pulled away to earn the 16-10 win.
“Wilson came out the first quarter and played very aggressive and fast,” said PW coach Ellen Reilly. “We were not ready, and it took us awhile to match their intensity. By then it was too late. We were in the hole 6-2 at the end of the first.
“The last three quarters I was proud that my players continued to fight and match Wilson‘s intensity. We got within one at 9-8. With some great play from freshman Gracie Kerns, Kaiane Jayo, Maite Jayo, Mia Baron, and Bri Reynolds all taking turns on the circle fighting for possession. And our goalie Addi Stein had 11 saves.”
Kerns led the Colonials with four goals, and Meghan Wendler had a four-point game on two goals and two assists. Reynolds had a goal and two assists, while Maite Jayo, Katie Guarino, and Soph Nagle each chipped in with one goal.
The Colonials (10-4 overall, 6-3 American Conference) visit Harriton today at 3:45 pm for another nonleague matchup.
