Check out the recaps for SOL softball teams in action Thursday.

SOL Patriot Division
PENNSBURY 16, COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 1 (4 innings)
Talk about saving your best for last – the Falcons did just that, turning in their best performance of the regular season in their final regular season game.
On April 27, the Golden Hawks defeated the Falcons 3-0 in a contest that saw the Falcons collect just five hits. Two of those, however, were doubles by Naya Schubel.
Schubel – who has since moved up to the two hole in the lineup – picked up where she left off in that contest in Thursday’s rematch, smacking a pair of doubles and finishing 3-for-3. Anna Evanchik also was 3-for-3 and set the tone for big win by smoking a three-run home run in the top of the first. The round tripper came after back-to-back walks to Schubel and Sammy Raub, and as beginnings go, this was a good one for the Falcons, who brought an early end to the game with a seven-run fourth.
“Our kids did a good job, they really did a good job,” Pennsbury coach Frank McSherry said. “Our kids were disciplined, they weren’t chasing, they put the ball in play.
“Six different times with two strikes – we either got hits or put the ball in play and put pressure on them – bases loaded, second and third, first and second.”
It looked like the Golden Hawks would make things interesting when they scored a run in the bottom of the first, the result of a bases-loaded walk to Lexi Waring. The Hawks loaded the bases after Helen Woloshyn hit a leadoff single, and two outs later, Julia Scannapieco singled, advancing Woloshyn to third. A walk to Avery Tumolo loaded the bases for Waring.
In the second inning, Schubel lined a two-out double to left field and scored when Sammy Raub lined a single to left, giving the Falcons a 4-1 lead.
The Golden Hawks put a pair on board with one out in the bottom of the inning, but two straight groundouts ended that threat.
In a five-run fourth, Ava Storlazzi hit an RBI single, and Schubel ripped a two-run double to left field. Storlazzi scored on a Rock South miscue. Another error resulted in another run, and the Falcons led 9-1.
A seven run fourth was highlighted by a two-run single by Jaylynn Rodweller and also included several Rock South errors.
Liv Czerniak was the unsung hero of the Falcons’ slugfest, retiring eight straight to close out the abbreviated game. She allowed three hits in four shutout innings, striking out two and walking three.
“Liv just pitched a great game,” McSherry said. “She just kept the ball down. In four innings, she had seven groundouts and two strikeouts, so that’s nine of the 12 outs.”
Schubel (3-for-3, 2 2B, 4 RBIs, 4R) and Evanchik (3-for-3, HR, 3 RBIs, 2R) put up impressive numbers, accounting for six of their team’s 14 hits. Czerniak was 2-for-4 with a run scored.
“This was our best game of the season, and it’s nice to do it right before we get started in districts,” McSherry said.
Pennsbury (13-6, 11-5 SOL), the 15th seed in the District 1 6A Tournament, will host #18 William Tennent in an all-SOL contest. Council Rock South (17-2, 13-2), the tournament’s second seed, will have an opening round bye and will face the winner of the Pennsbury/Tennent game in a second round contest on Wednesday.

SOUDERTON 6, PENNRIDGE 2
The Indians closed out their season on a high note, notching a win over the visiting Rams. The win came on the heels of back-to-back shutout losses that saw the Indians outscored 3-0 in the two games combined.
McKenna Schroding turned in a strong outing to earn the complete game win in the circle, allowing four hits and two runs (one earned) while striking out 13 and walking a pair.
The Rams scored a run in the top of the first without a hit. Meghan Holberg drew a one-out walk, stole second and moved up to third on a groundout. She scored on a wild pitch.
That 1-0 held until the third when the Indians’ bats came alive. Madison Byrwa led off the inning with a double to left field, and Kiera Fadden drew a walk. Byrwa, who stole third, scored on Kendall Clemmer’s sacrifice fly to center field.
With two outs, Makayla Mihelcic hit a solo home run to left field. A pair of Pennridge errors were followed by a single by Ava Elliott, and Olivia Plinke delivered the inning’s big blow – a three-run triple to right field that put the Indians on top 6-1.
The Rams added a run in the top of the seventh when Gabby Hamburger singled and scored.
Souderton (10-9, 7-8 SOL) is the 21st seed in the District 1 6A Tournament, and the Indians will travel to #12 Boyertown for Monday’s opening round contest. Pennridge closed out its season with a 5-15 record overall.

GWYNEDD MERCY 9, BENSALEM 4
The Owls celebrated Senior Day in Thursday’s non-league game against Gwynedd Mercy. They came up short on the scoreboard, but that did not dampen their spirits.
After Gwynedd scored a run in the top of the first, the Owls evened the score with a run in the bottom of the inning. Megan Klein led off with a ground single to center and two outs later scored when Ashlyn Merz lined a double to left field.
The visiting Monarchs scored a run in the second and two more in the third and all but put the game out of reach with a five-run fifth to go on top 9-1.
In the bottom of the inning, the Owls answered with three runs of their own. Klein once again got things started with a single to center field. A GMA error was followed by Lina Sponheimer’s single to center that plated Klein. A second run scored on a groundout, and the third run of the inning crossed the plate on a Sydney Daut single.
Klein finished the game 2-for-3 with two runs scored, and Sponheimer was 2-for-3 with an RBI and run scored.
Bensalem closed out its season with a 5-15 record overall.
