Tuesday’s game was the third meeting between the SOL rivals. New Hope-Solebury won all three.

New Hope-Solebury coach Gwen Smith on the game: “It was a nailbiter. The third time playing anyone is very hard. I remember in 2020 when we had half a season, and we played Springfield Twp. We had just moved to the SOL, and we had played them twice in the year, and they beat us twice. Then we played them in the district final, and we won. Every time we play them a second time – I always have that in my head.
“The third time you play someone – it’s completely different. Springfield came out – I knew they were going to give us a battle and they did. I’m proud of our girls for pushing through and persevering because Springfield was ready – they brought it.”
–Props: “Defensively, Danielle Wilson and Emerson Thistlewaite played well.”
Up next: New Hope-Solebury (14-3, 10-0 SOL) will travel to #1 Faith Christian Academy for Thursday’s semifinal contest (4 pm).
“We have never seen them, so this will be a first,” Smith said.
Springfield Twp closed out its season with an 8-9-2 record overall, 7-2-1 in the SOL.

Wissahickon coach Lee Ann Marchesi on the game: “WC East played hard the whole game They played with grit, determination, and integrity.
“Cami went down with an injury just before the half. She did not return to play, and we do not know if she’ll return in time for Thursday’s game.
“We look forward to playing Gwynedd Mercy Academy on Thursday. It’s going to be a tough game, and we’re excited for the high level competition.”
–Props to the captains: “With the injury to Cami, our captains picked up the slack as we forged on ahead to make sure we’d have another chance to play this postseason. So much credit belongs to those senior captains: Audrey Walsh, Riley Ball, and Kayla Mullin. Their leadership is deeply impactful. It is also important to highlight the incredible skill, versatility, and hockey IQ of Carly Lehman, who had big shoes to fill in the center midfield position with Cami out of the game. She’s an incredible player and teammate.”
Wissahickon (14-4-1, 8-2 SOL) will host #10 Gwynedd Mercy in a neighborhood battle in Thursday’s second round game at 3:30 pm.
