Check out the recaps for SOL softball teams in action Wednesday.
Non-league
CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 10, ARCHBISHOP WOOD 6
The visiting Titans trailed 4-2 early in Wednesday’s non-league contest. A three-run fifth and a four-run sixth gave South the lead and control of the game.
Erin Ruddell, Maura Fleming and Ella Wheeler each had three hits to lead the Titans.
By the numbers: Erin Ruddell (3-for-4, 4R), Maura Fleming (3-for-4, 3R), Ella Wheeler (3-for-4, 3B, 5RBI), Chrissy Ivers (2-or-4, 2R)
Chrissy Ivers (W) (4.0 IP, 1H, 2R, 0ER, 3BB, 6K)
Key inning: Top of sixth: With one out, Ruddell and Fleming hit back-to-back singles, and an error on Ella Wheeler’s ground ball to second loaded the bases. Two runs scored on a Wood miscue, and a third run came home on a sacrifice bunt by Kate Muntz. An RBI single by Ivers put the Titans on top 9-4.
Central Bucks South coach Matt McLaughlin: “We had a little bit of a scare in the beginning of the game, but we got refocused and came back and scored some runs.”
–Ivers delivers in circle: Chrissy Ivers came into the game around the third inning inning and just dominated on the mound, striking out six and giving up one hit. She is a senior, and she’s continuing to crush it with the bat as well, so she’s just an all-around awesome utility player and doing very well right now.”
–Wheeler dominates: “I’m so super happy with Ella Wheeler, our senior who’s going to Jefferson. She just dominated today. She was 3-for-4 with five RBIs. She had what would have been a home run that the Wood girl caught and flew over the fence with. She ends up getting two RBIs on the play because the girl caught the ball and fell over the fence. It was awesome. God bless that girl out there. She didn’t get impaled, but she made an incredible catch and stole a home run from Ella or Ella would have been 4-for-4 with seven RBIs. I’m so, so happy for Ella. She just dominated in the batter’s box.”
–One, two punch: “Maura Fleming and Erin Ruddell are my one and two hitters and just outright are awesome at what they do. One’s a freshman, one’s a senior, and both are just really incredible.”
–Props: “Overall, the team showed me again that even if they get punched, they punch right back and win games.”
–Looking ahead: “Tomorrow is North Penn. I think we’re ranked ninth and North Penn’s 10th in the District 1 6A rankings, so it’s a heavyweight battle tomorrow, and we’ll see what happens.”
Up next: Central Bucks South (9-6, 4-2 SOL) will host North Penn on Thursday (5:30 pm).

WEST CHESTER EAST 4, PLYMOUTH WHITEMARSH 1
The visiting Colonials held a 6-3 advantage in hits in Wednesday’s non-league game, but they came up short on the scoreboard.
“PW trailed 3-0 when the Colonials got on the scoreboard with their only run in the fifth.
Lizzy LaNoce led off the fifth with a single and moved up to second on a sacrifice bunt by Jenna Yablon. An error allowed LaNoce to advance to third, and she scored on Zoe Robinson’s sacrifice fly. La Noce’s two-hit effort led the Colonials.
Plymouth Whitemarsh coach Mike Perez: “Today was simply not our day. We could not get anything going offensively. Kudos to their pitcher, Ava Ferri. She did a great job of keeping us off balance all game, and we simply couldn’t get solid contact, outside of a few big hits.
“Anna Powel had a big double in the first inning, Emily Dobrowolski led off the third inning with another double, Lizzy LaNoce led off the fifth with a rocket up the middle for a single, Gia Bono led off the sixth with a single, and LaNoce lead off the seventh with shot to center field for a double…that’s five separate innings with a chance to score and we didn’t execute. Other than once in the fifth, we could never get the next big hit to score those runners.
“Shout out to Lizzy LaNoce, in her first varsity action, filling in for Madison Moran (sat out with an injury) and collecting her first two varsity hits and scoring our only run of the game.
“I also want to acknowledge Rian Reed for pitching a complete game and giving us an effort that should be good enough for a win. In six innings, she only gave up three hits, two earned runs, and had nine strikeouts.
“I also want to give credit to East’s leadoff hitter, Daria Cross…she drew 3 walks and wreaked havoc on the bases.
“We have to put this one behind us and come out ready for a road league battle at Wissahickon tomorrow.”
Up next: Plymouth Whitemarsh (9-5, 6-0 SOL) will travel to Wissahickon on Thursday.
