Check out the recaps for SOL girls/boys basketball teams in action Monday.

Boys
Non-league
UPPER DUBLIN 57, ARCHBISHOP RYAN 47
For the second time in as many games, the Cardinals found themselves staring at an early hole, this time 18-5, and for the second time in as many games, they rallied from behind to send the game to overtime.
In OT, the Cards outscored Ryan 10-0. Noah Cohen was a perfect 6-for-6 at the foul line in the frame while Horace Jackson had a layup and was 2-for-2 at the foul line.
Key players: Justin Ragsdale scored a game-high 22 points – 15 of those in the second half. Noah Cohen added 12 points, which included a perfect 9-for-9 at the free throw line.
Upper Dublin coach Derek Brooks:
–On the game: “We got off to a slow start against Abington (Friday). We were down 13-2, and then we did the same thing in this game. We were down 18-5, so we’ve got to get off to better starts. We’ll keep working on it. We’ll figure it out. But I’m proud of the boys for at least bouncing back from a tough start and pulling out the win. We just chipped away, which is good especially against a Philadelphia Catholic League team.
“Defensively, we got off to a really bad start – we gave up 20 points in the first quarter but then held them to 27 through three quarters and one overtime, so we were great after that. It was 47-47 going into OT where we outscored them 10-0. It was a good win for us. At least it will give us confidence we can do it later if it happens. I’d much rather get up to 18-5 lead and then just build it from there, but you can’t always get what you want. But a win’s a win.”
–A barometer: “We had talked about our first six games as a great barometer to see where we are – on the road at St. Joe’s Prep, on the road at Methacton, home against Cumberland Valley, home against Wiss, home against Abington and then home again Archbishop Ryan. That’s six good teams, and to go 5-1 through that stretch – I’m pretty proud of the boys. Especially after the game against Wiss – we had to really take a step back. Blowing a 10-point lead to your rival at home kind of showed a lot of warts that we had, so we fortunately have responded well since then.”
–Props: “I thought Kobe Bazemore was just fantastic. He’s really stepped up as far as a leader goes with his intensity, especially both times we were down. He’s playing with great poise, he’s sharing the ball, he’s playing great defense, and he’s impacting the game in a lot of ways.
“Justin Ragsdale had a monster second half. Ryan has a really good big guy on their team, and Justin won the second half against that kid and was a huge reason why we won the game, so I’m proud of him. If we can start to just get a little more consistency across the board from our guys, we’re going to really take the next step. We’ve been so good defensively. If we can get consistency on the offensive end, we’re going to take another little leap here.”
Up next: Upper Dublin will travel to Quakertown Tuesday.

SPRINGFIELD TWP 68, MaST CHARTER 66 (OT)
The Spartans upped their record to 6-1, but it took overtime to win this one.
Springfield Twp – sparked by eight points from Cahlin Spearman – opened up a 19-11 lead after one quarter, but MaST rallied to go into halftime with a 32-31 lead. Julian Ciasullo’s 12 points in the half led the Spartans.
The two teams were deadlocked 46-46 heading into the fourth quarter when both scored 13 points, setting the stage for overtime where the Spartans held a 9-7 edge. Spearman hit a big 3-pointer while Jake Gibson also had three points in OT.
Key players: Julian Ciasullo’s 26-point effort led the Spartans. He also had four assists. Cahlin Spearman added 17 points and three assists, and Clay Trejbrowski had nine points.
Springfield Twp coach Mike DeCandido:
–On the game: “Tonight was a really fun game. We got out to a great start again, but MaST fought back and took the lead at half. Our guys showed a lot of heart and battled back in the second half. There was a lot of back and forth, and both teams were finishing well around the rim.
“Props to MaST – they are well coached, and their players are gritty. They attacked the basket really well and hit tough shots. I was really proud of our guys and the way they handled a close game. It’s always nice getting a win in a close game and our guys did well handling the pressure.”
–Props: “Honestly, tonight was a total team effort. Julian Ciasullo and Cahlin Spearman scored really well for us. They ran the floor and finished well around the rim. Ryan McGuckin had six rebounds, five assists, and four steals, Chadrack Kiamba and Jake Gibson had a lot of rebounds and protected the rim, and Clay Trejbrowski gave us a great spark off the bench. Will McLaughlin is a true leader – he leads our defense and offense and plays extremely unselfish basketball. He sacrifices a lot of shots to get other guys open looks. It’s great to see everyone put all the pieces together to get a team win.”
Up next: Springfield Twp will host William Tennent on Tuesday.

The Panthers notched their first win of the season Monday, rallying from seven down entering the fourth quarter to earn the win.
Key players: Junior Alexa Seneca led the way with 12 points, and freshman Alexa Reich finished with 9 points.
Quakertown coach Dan Cymerman:
–On the game: “We earned our first win of the season on Monday night. Trailing 30–23 entering the fourth, we responded with our best defensive stretch of the night, limiting Quakertown Christian to just six points in the final quarter. After a strong fourth-quarter surge, we defeated Quakertown Christian 41-36.
“We had balanced scoring from Alexa Seneca, Alexa Reich, Paisley Heft, and several others. We demonstrated noticeable growth, executing with confidence and composure to secure our first victory of the year. We talked at practice about making smart shot selections and playing team defense and we did both of those things tonight.
“This is a significant step forward for us, but we know we have to return to work on Tuesday against a very talented Upper Dublin team.”

Plymouth Whitemarsh coach Dan Dougherty: “Good win for us today. I thought this was our best game thus far this season. Olivia Patete and Grace Harvey were very aggressive offensively and made some strong takes during our 13-0 second quarter run. Mia Baron and Olivia Brodzinski continue to give us great, energetic minutes off the bench. Eliza Meersman and Kenna Winland continue to be solid at both ends of the floor. Last year it took a miraculous comeback in the fourth quarter to beat Palumbo at their place. The girls did great job of making sure we didn’t dig ourselves a hole again this year.”
Up next: Plymouth Whitemarsh will host Hatboro-Horsham Tuesday.

CHESTER 54, LOWER MORELAND 42
The Lions fell behind early, trailing a veteran Chester squad 14-5 after one quarter. They trailed 27-19 at halftime, but Chester put the game out of reach with a 23-point third quarter.
Sydney Santora’s 11-point effort led the Lions, and Olivia Fey added nine.
Lower Moreland coach Andy Krasna: “We battled the Clippers for two quarters and were down eight points at the half but couldn’t buy a basket or make a free throw for much of the game. We were 2-for-19 from the line. However, the positive is we were getting to the line. We were getting some penetration on offense but had trouble finishing around the rim and making free throws which makes it hard to defeat a team like Chester. The trip down I-95 was well worth it as we saw a very quick and athletic team. We had a bunch of good offensive possessions but shot poorly. After some good defensive possessions, we were unable to secure defensive rebounds and gave up many second chance points that also hurt us. But our young team was resilient and fought to the end. Chester’s roster is filled with seniors, and their speed and team chemistry is something special to watch.”
Up next: Lower Moreland will host Frankford in a non-league game Thursday.
Lower Moreland 5-14-11-12 42
