MEN’S BASKETBALL
Junior Matt Bealer (Souderton) scored 15 points, hitting five threes, in DeSales University’s 84-76 win over Arcadia on Saturday. In last Sunday’s 62-60 win over William Patterson, Bealer scored 12 points on four three-pointers.
Damien Washington (Upper Moreland) contributed 18 points and seven rebounds in Delaware Valley University’s 70-61 loss to Haverford College on Friday.
Will Derr (Upper Dublin) had a team-high eight rebounds and three blocks in Arcadia’s 84-76 loss to DeSales on Saturday.
Sophomore guard Trevonn Pitts (Cheltenham) finished with 15 points, four rebounds, three assists and a block in Chestnut Hill’s 91-69 loss to Assumption College on Thursday.
Freshman Robbie Heath (Abington) had a game-high 24 points in 10th-ranked West Chester’s 84-77 win over Shepherd University on Friday night. With the win, the Golden Rams improved to 12-0, tying the best start to a season in team history.
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
Lizzie Oleary (Abington) contributed seven points, four rebounds, two blocks and two assists in the University of Delaware’s 63-44 win over George Mason last Sunday.
Taylor O’Brien (Plymouth Whitemarsh) had 10 points, three steals and nine rebounds in Bucknell’s 63-52 win over Army West Point on Thursday. In last Sunday’s 78-73 loss to Stony Brook, O’Brien scored a career high 23 points on 7-of-15 shooting and a perfect 7-for-7 at the foul line. She also had four rebounds, two assists and three steals. In Bucknell’s 70-46 victory over Saint Francis, O’Brien, in her first collegiate start, scored 15 points.
Lauren Fortescue (Plymouth Whitemarsh) had 13 points and four steals in Salisbury University’s 63-43 loss to 20th-ranked Bethel University on day two of the Naples Shootout on Monday.
Junior Irisa Ye (North Penn) scored a game-high 26 points on 10-of-14 shooting in just 26 minutes in the University of the Sciences 79-54
wire-to-wire win at Concorida on Saturday. With her 26-point effort, Ye became the 20th player in program history to surpass the 1000-point milestone, doing so midway through her junior season. She made 4-of-5 free throws and 2-of-3 three-pointers and added a game and career-high four steals. Jordan Vitelli (Central Bucks South) poured in 25 points on 9-of-14 shooting in just 19 minutes, highlighted by making 7-of-11 three-pointers. Mikaela Giuliani (North Penn) had three assists. In Friday’s 59-55 win over No. 21 St. Thomas Aquinas, Ye had a game-high 21 points, finishing 5-of-6 from the line while also grabbing a team-high five rebounds. Vitelli added seven points, and Giuliani had six points on 3-of-4 shooting.
Sam Carangi (North Penn) came off the bench to score a career-high eight points in Villanova’s 61-55 win over Seton Hall on Friday.
Freshman Dana Bandurick (Council Rock North) contributed 17 points, eight rebounds, five assists and two steals in Swarthmore’s 71-54 Franklin & Marshall on Saturday. The win snapped Swarthmore’s seven-game losing streak to the Diplomats.
Millersville University junior Mia Leonard (Cheltenham) was named the PSAC East Defensive Athlete of the Week for the week ending Nov. 21 for her career-best performances against both Seton Hill and California (Pa.). Leonard recorded her first double-digit scoring effort with 10 points on 4-of-9 shooting and 2-of-2 from the free throw line in the game against Seton Hill. The junior added a career-high four blocks and three defensive rebounds. Her defensive efforts in the game against California helped lead the Marauders to a 79-53 victory over the No. 9-ranked team. Leonard recorded a career-high 13 rebounds, making her the first Marauder to achieve double-digit rebounding this season. She totaled another four blocks. Leonard is the first Marauder to earn the distinction this season. This is the first honor for the junior center.
Leonard led the defensive effort with 11 rebounds – eight on the defensive end – and three blocks in Millersville’s 91-77 double overtime loss to Shippensburg on Friday. In Tuesday’s 83-78 win over Holy Family, Leonard tallied 13 points and seven rebounds and also had a team-high four blocks.
Sophomore Kate Connolly (Souderton) hit two treys and recorded eight points in Drexel’s 73-59 loss to the College of Charleston on Friday. In Monday’s 70-57 win over the University of Maine, Connolly scored seven points.
Freshman Kassondra Brown (Abington) logged a career-high 32 minutes on the floor in the University of Rhode Island’s 76-54 loss to VCU on Saturday, finishing the game with 13 points, nine rebounds and one blocked shot. In URI’s 61-58 overtime loss to Harvard on Monday, Brown had six points and seven rebounds.
Lexi Edwards (Central Bucks South) had 17 points and a career-high six assists in Cabrini’s 87-85 overtime loss to Rowan in the final game of the 2019 Cavalier Classic hosted by Cabrini on Tuesday. In Monday’s 50-47 loss to Arcadia, Edwards had six points.
Taylor Dunn (Central Bucks South) contributed 13 points and seven rebounds in Arcadia’s 52-50 loss to Eastern University on the final day of
the Cabrini University Classic on Tuesday. In Monday’s 50-47 win over Cabrini in an opening round game, Dunn posted a game-high 22 points to pick up her 1,000th career point, becoming the fifth in program history to do so. Dunn has now reached double figures in 11 of the team’s first 12 games this season. Monday’s 22-point effort marked her seventh game of 20 or more points.
Junior Bridget Birkhead (Central Bucks East) contributed eight points – which included two three-pointers, four rebounds and two steals in Mount Saint Mary’s 75-57 win over Long Island on Saturday. With the win, the Mountaineers are 2-0 in the Northeast Conference.
Sophomore Emma Stanfield (William Tennent) scored five straight points in the second quarter of No. 9/10 DeSales University’s 67-63 win over Claremont-Mudd Scripps on Monday in the second game of the D3Hoops.com Classic in Las Vegas, Nev. In last Saturday’s 73-52 loss to No. 6 Amherst, freshman Megan Bealer (Souderton) came off the bench and contributed 10 points and six rebounds.
Senior Makenzie Mason (Central Bucks West) led five players in double figures with 14 points to go along with nine rebounds in No. 2 University of Scranton’s 63-57 win over Saint Vincent on Monday at the D3Hoops.com Classic in Las Vegas. In last Saturday’s 54-44 loss to No. 9 George Fox, Mason had 15 points on 7-of-17 shooting.
Lydia Konstanzer (Pennridge) recorded a double-double with 10 rebounds to go with 12 points in Ursinus College’s 64-61 loss to Gettysburg on Saturday.
Senior Alynna Williams (Plymouth Whitemarsh) recorded 17 points, six assists, three boards and two steals in Jefferson University’s 91-50 win over Felician Sunday. Hailey Meinel (Central Bucks South) finished with 12 points, four rebounds, three steals, two assists and one block, and Sabria Lytes (Harry S Truman) came off the bench and grabbed 10 rebounds.
Devon Rimmer (Pennridge) had seven points in No. 24 Widener University’s 87-58 loss to No. 6 Amherst on Saturday.
Gabbi Wright (Cheltenham) recorded 13 points, seven rebounds and three blocks in Kutztown University’s 74-69 loss to East Stroudsburg on Friday.
Sophomore guard Rebecca Margolis (Council Rock North) – in her first start of the season – had seven assists in West Chester’s 68-65 loss to Shepherd on Friday.
WRESTLING
Millersville freshman Jackson Erb (Neshaminy) earned the No. 5 ranking at 149 pounds in Super Region I with a 7-7 overall record. He has recorded three falls, two technical falls and two major decisions this season and finished in third place at the season-opening Washington & Jefferson Invitational.
Western New England University freshman Corey Cope (Quakertown) finished fourth in the 133-pound weight class at the Williams College Open on Sunday.
