MEN’S CROSS COUNTRY
Penn State Abington’s Michael Cooney (North Penn) posted a time of 29:11 and Minaam Ahmed (Pennsbury) finished with a time of 31.55 at the Gettysburg Invitational on Saturday.
Villanova redshirt freshman Casey Comber (Hatboro-Horsham) finished 23rd out of 144 runners at the Penn State National on Friday, posting a time of 25:32 and was only 16 seconds behind teammate Andrew Marston, who placed 13th in a field of more than 100 runners.
Freshman Aaron Morris (Springfield) was the first Chestnut Hill runner to complete the course at the Gettysburg Invitational on Saturday, posting a time of 27:52.0 to finish 57th. Junior Robert Johnson (William Tennent) completed the course in 31:37.9.
Ursinus freshman Logan Mazullo (Central Bucks West) crushed his former season best by more than 75 seconds with a time of 26:50.9 at the Inter-Regional Border Battle hosted on the West Campus of Rowan University on Saturday.
La Salle senior Francis Ferruzzi (Upper Dublin) finished third in a field of 225 runners at the Princeton Invitational on Saturday, completing the 8K course in 24:22.4 to help the Explorers place fifth out of 23 teams.
Freshman Thomas Rozinski (North Penn) was the fifth Widener runner to cross the finish line at the Rowan Inter-Regional Border Battle on Saturday, posting a time of 26:14.5.
WOMEN’S CROSS COUNTRY
St. Joseph’s University freshman Meridith Twomey (Pennsbury) was the Hawks’ sixth runner and finished 113th with a time of 23:33.1 on the 6K course at the Princeton Invitational on Saturday. St. Joe’s finish 10th out of 22 teams.
Senior Megan Schneider (Hatboro-Horsham) was Temple’s fourth best finisher at the Leopard Invitational hosted by Lafayette College on Saturday, posting a time of 23:35.8 to finish eighth overall. Temple took first place overall.
Junior Kaitlin Poiesz (Central Bucks South) was La Salle’s first runner to cross the finish line at the Princeton Invitational on Saturday, posting a time of 22:01.7 on the 6K course to place 21st of 215 runners. Freshman Alyssa Quinn (Hatboro-Horsham) was the fourth Explorer to finish with a time of 23:58.5.
FIELD HOCKEY
Freshman Emma McLaughlin (Quakertown) scored her third and fourth goals of the season, including the game winner, in Villanova’s 3-2 come-from-behind win over Temple on Saturday.
Junior Emma Rosenthal (Central Bucks East) saved the only shot she faced in 14th-ranked Muhlenberg’s 1-0 win over sixth-ranked Franklin & Marshall on Saturday.
Lehigh University senior Marissa Glatt (Central Bucks East) was named the Patriot League Offensive
Player of the Week for the week ending Oct. 9. Glatt had a hand in four of the Mountain Hawks’ 11 goals in Lehigh’s 6-0 win over Colgate and 5-0 victory against Towson. Glatt finished the weekend with three goals and one assist to up her season total to five goals and three assists. She recorded a goal and assist versus Colgate. Glatt scored an unassisted goal just 5:30 into the second half to give Lehigh a 4-0 advantage and also assisted on Lehigh’s sixth goal. The CB East graduate went on to score twice against Towson. She opened the scoring at the 14:50 mark while adding an early second-half goal at 38:39 to give the Mountain Hawks a 4-0 advantage. The two goals tied a career high while it was also her second career multi-goal game. Glatt owns a point in every game of Lehigh’s four-game winning streak to up her season total to 13 points.
Senior Gabby Tofig (Council Rock North) scored her fourth goal of the season in Lehigh’s 7-1 loss to UMass-Lowell on Sunday.
Sophomore goalie Marissa Elizardo (North Penn) recorded six saves in Bryant University’s 2-1 win over Fairfield on Friday.
Emily Hawkins (Cheltenham) made a season-high 12 saves in Keystone College’s 2-1 overtime win over Immaculata on Saturday. In Wednesday’s 2-1 win over Houghton, Hawkins recorded a game-high seven saves. Hawkins leads the CSAC in both goals-against average (1.130) and save percentage (.857).
Kara Imes (North Penn) scored with 62 seconds left before the intermission in Delaware Valley’s 3-1 win over Immaculata on Tuesday.
Cassidy Barrow (North Penn) scored a goal in Albright’s 5-0 win over Hood on Saturday. In Wednesday’s 5-1 loss to No. 1 Messiah, Marley Berger (Springfield) scored the team’s lone goal.
Kristin Donohue (Council Rock South) contributed two goals and two assists in No. Messiah College’s 5-1 defeat of Albright College on Wednesday.
Jules Singer (Council Rock North) racked up a career-high 15 saves – more than double her previous best – in Ursinus College’s 3-1 loss to West Chester in the 38th Snell Cup game on Sunday. In Thursday’s 1-0 overtime loss to No. 10 The College of New Jersey, Singer finished with seven saves, all after halftime. In Tuesday’s 3-0 win over Arcadia, senior forward Amber Steigerwalt (Central Bucks South) scored a goal. Ann Kopera (Neshaminy) contributed an assist, and Singer recorded a save on the only shot she faced to record her third solo shutout of the season.
Temple University senior Rachael Mueller (William Tennent) was named to the BIG EAST Conference Weekly Honor Roll for the week ending Oct. 9. The Tennent graduate scored the game winner in Temple’s 2-1 overtime win over No. 13 Old Dominion, collecting the ball on the left wing near the far baseline and slipping a shot past the ODU goalkeeper for the win. The game winner was Mueller’s third in four games and was her second overtime game winner this season.
Mueller scored her team-leading ninth goal of the season in Temple’s 3-2 loss to Villanova University on Saturday.
Providence College junior midfielder Megan Hamilton (Central Bucks South) was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for the week ending Oct. 9. It marks the second time this season that Hamilton has been recognized as a member of the weekly honor roll, previously earning the honor on Sept. 19. Hamilton notched the game-winning goal in a 2-1 overtime win against BIG EAST foe Quinnipiac. It marked the Friars’ only game of the week. Providence and Quinnipiac entered the game in a tie for second place in the league standings. For Hamilton, it marked her fifth goal of the season and first game winner. In Friday’s 3-2 overtime win over Georgetown, Hamilton had an assist on the equalizer.
Courtney Konowal (Plymouth Whitemarsh) delivered a crossing pass to set up a goal in Kutztown’s 2-0 win over Mansfield on Saturday. In Thursday’s 2-0 win over Limestone College, Konowal contributed an assist.
Abigail Gabriel (Souderton) tied her personal career high with three goals in Gwynedd Mercy’s 12-0 win at Notre Dame of Maryland on Saturday.
Victoria Byrne (Plymouth Whitemarsh) recorded two saves and picked up her first collegiate victory between the pipes in Widener’s 2-1 win over Wilkes University on Wednesday.
FOOTBALL
Senior tight end Kyle Bigam (Pennridge) caught a three-yard touchdown pass in Delaware Valley’s 52-10 win over Wilkes University on Saturday.
Senior defensive end Tanoh Kpassagnon (Wissahickon) finished with four tackles and his sixth sack of the season in No. 13 Villanova’s 23-0 loss at No. 6 Richmond on Saturday.
Craig Reynolds (Abington) ran for 261 of Kutztown’s 459 rushing yards – both of which marked school
records – in KU’s 49-30 win at East Stroudsburg on Saturday night. The Abington graduate averaged 13.7 yards per carry, finishing with 19 carries for the school record 261 yards. He broke the previous mark of 259 yards set in 2004 by Maurice Adams. Reynolds broke Adams’ record despite having 19 carries to 35 for Adams. Reynolds also broke the school record for all-purpose yards in a game at 345. The previous record was 308 by Elfren Quiles in 2007. Reynolds’ three touchdowns marked his third multi-TD game of the year as he has scored at least one touchdown in six of seven games this season. The redshirt sophomore has 12 rushing touchdowns this season, tied for fifth all time in school history. Reynolds also had a 90-yard kick return for a touchdown but had it called back for a penalty. For the year, Reynolds has run for 905 yards, 95 shy of being the seventh player in school history to run for 1,000 yards in a season. It was KU’s fourth straight win to remain in first place in the PSAC Eastern Division.
Redshirt freshman Luke Durkin (Central Bucks West) hauled in his first ever touchdown pass in Shippensburg’s 76-0 win over Cheyney on Saturday.
Freshman quarterback Thomas Garlick (Quakertown) completed his first 11 passes and finished 25-of-44 for a career-high 348 yards with two touchdowns and an interception in Ursinus College’s 38-27 loss to Juniata on Saturday. Freshman Stacey Gardner (Upper Dublin) had a rushing and receiving touchdown for the Bears, who led 24-7 late in the first half before the Eagles mounted a rally.
Senior Steve Gozur (North Penn) had a team-leading 9.5 tackles in Widener’s 45-21 loss to nationally-ranked Stevenson on Saturday.
Redshirt senior starter Bruce Campbell (Pennsbury) completed 7-of-14 pass attempts for 92 yards and rushed for 23 yards in East Stroudsburg’s 49-30 loss to Kutztown on Saturday night.
MEN’S GOLF
Millersville redshirt senior Rodney Anders (Souderton) opened the PSAC Championships at Hershey Country Club East Course on Saturday with a 3-over par 75, which put him within three shots of the lead and tied for sixth with 18 holes to play.
WOMEN’S GOLF
West Chester sophomore Juliarose Genuardi (North Penn) shot an 84 and was 15th overall after day one at the PSAC Championships on Saturday.
MEN’S SOCCER
Senior Ryan Molyneaux (Souderton) scored a goal in Ursinus College’s 3-2 overtime loss to Washington College on Saturday.
Eric Gutierrez (Harry S Truman) recorded two saves – including a diving save at the right post – to record his second career shutout in Philadelphia University’s 1-0 win over Post University on Saturday. In Tuesday’s 1-0 overtime win at Goldey-Beacom, Gutierrez stopped three shots to record his first career shutout.
Junior Brian Ehrlich (Hatboro-Horsham) posted his second clean sheet of the season in as many starts in Lafayette’s 0-0 double overtime tie with NJIT on Wednesday.
Austin Transue (Neshaminy) contributed a goal and an assist in Bloomsburg’s 5-3 loss to Holy Family on Wednesday.
WOMEN’S SOCCER
Sophomore Shaelyn McCarty (Central Bucks West) was named the Drexel School of Education Athlete of the Week for the week ending Oct. 10. McCarty recorded a goal and an assist over the weekend as the Dragons went 1-0-1. In a 3-0 win over the College of Charleston, the sophomore forward assisted on the final goal. In the Dragons’ 1-1 tie with UNCW, McCarty took a ball up the left side of the field, beat a defender and rolled a low shot through the legs of the challenging goalkeeper to find the middle of the net.
Freshman Emma Loving (Central Bucks East) scored the first goal in the University of Pennsylvania’s 4-0 win over Delaware State on Tuesday.
McDaniel junior Sarah McDonald (Pennsbury) was named the Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending Oct. 9. It is the second straight week she earned the honor. McDonald led the Green Terror to a 1-1 week, including the team’s straight shutout in a 3-0 win at Dickinson. She made a season-best 10 saves in a 1-0 double overtime loss to No. 1 Messiah. For the week, she had 15 saves. McDonald is 9-1 with six individual shutouts this season. She has posted a 0.32 goals-against average and .919 save percentage.
McDonald picked up her second 10-save game in the last three outings, registering 10 saves to key the squad’s 11th shutout of the season in McDaniel’s 2-0 win over Swarthmore on Saturday. In Thursday’s 1-0 win at Franklin & Marshall, Kristen Upton (Central Bucks South) scored the lone goal, heading a ball to the right of the F&M keeper. Upton was also key to the defense that limited the Diplomats to just five shots – none on goal – and earned the team’s 10th shutout of the defense.
Amy Heller (Neshaminy) contributed an assist in Philadelphia University’s 2-0 win over Post on Saturday. In Monday’s 3-0 win over Dominican (N.Y.), the Rams’ first goal was set up on a corner kick by Taylor Mysza (Central Bucks East).
Paige McDowell (Council Rock South) scored her first goal of the year in the 55th minute in La Salle’s 2-1 loss to St. Joseph’s last Sunday.
Crissy Terraces (Plymouth Whitemarsh) and Morgan Valera (Upper Moreland) each scored a goal in Albright’s 5-1 win over Widener on Wednesday.
Sophomore Michaela Finneyfrock (Council Rock North) scored a pair of second-half goals to force overtime in St. Joseph University’s 3-2 win over defending A-10 champion Duquesne. The Dukes opened up a 2-0 lead in the opening 14 minutes. Finneyfrock headed in a corner kick into the net at 70:01 to make it a 2-1 game, and she evened the match with under five minutes to play when her shot from the left side of the box slipped into the upper right corner. The win upped St. Joe’s record to 12-1-2 (5-0-1 A-10).
Maureen Leis (Springfield) and Jessica Supp (Pennridge) each contributed a goal in Bloomsburg’s 2-0 win over Pitt-Johnstown on Saturday. Jessica Milligan (Pennridge) was credited with an assist on Leis’ goal.
Carmen Telesco (Central Bucks West) contributed an assist in No. 5 West Chester’s 1-0 win over 11th-ranked East Stroudsburg on Tuesday.

Gwynedd Mercy sophomore Kailey Hopkins (William Tennent) was named to the Colonial States Athletic Conference for the week ending Oct. 9. The Tennent graduate made eight saves to help lead Gwynedd Mercy to a 3-0 CSAC win at Cedar Crest. She tied a career high with 13 saves earlier in the week in a 2-1 loss at Marywood.
Hopkins made six big saves for her sixth shutout this season in Gwynedd Mercy’s 1-0 win over Keystone on Saturday. In Wednesday’s 2-1 win over Notre Dame of Maryland, Hopkins recorded five saves.

Norman Patten (Council Rock South) was a 7-6 (6), 4-6, 6-4 winner at first singles in West Chester’s 6-3 loss to Post on Tuesday.
WOMEN’S TENNIS
Emily Zygmunt (Pennsbury) was part of the third doubles teams that earned an 8-0 win in Philadelphia University’s 5-4 win over Caldwell on Saturday. In Wednesday’s 6-3 loss to Wilmington University (Del.), Zygmunt’s third doubles team earned a 9-8 (7-0) win.
Claire Uhle (Wissahickon) was part of a doubles team 8-4 win in West Chester’s 6-3 win over Seton Hill on Saturday. In Friday’s 8-1 loss to IUP, Uhle was a 6-3, 6-3 winner at first singles.
Kady Wuagon (Neshaminy) earned a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 5 singles in Kutztown’s 6-3 loss to Caldwell on Tuesday.

Sophomore Sam Jones (Hatboro-Horsham) finished with 10 digs in Kent State’s 3-2 win over Ball State on Friday night.
Kassie Ockford (Neshaminy) had five kills in Cabrini’s 3-0 win over Cedar Crest on Tuesday. In Cabrini’s 3-0 win over Cairn, Ockford had six kills.
Chelsea Gallagher (William Tennent) set for the first time this year and collected 37 assists in Elizabethtown’s 3-1 loss to Moravian on Friday night. In Tuesday’s 3-1 win over York, Katie Kennedy (Plymouth Whitemarsh) had a career-high six of the Blue Jays 11 service aces. Gallagher had seven digs a the team’s libero.
Haley Sheehan (Quakertown) contributed 10 kills and five aces in Cairn University’s 3-0 win over Rosemont on Wednesday. In Tuesday’s 3-0 loss to Cabrini, Sheehan had five kills.
Sophomore Cori Watson (Souderton) had 19 assists in Penn State Abington’s 3-0 win over Penn College on Friday.
Senior Stephanie Elechko (North Penn) finished with 22 kills in Eastern University’s 3-2 win over Concordia (Minn.) on the final day of the Pikes Peak Challenge hosted by Colorado College on Saturday. Elechko was named to the All-Tournament team. In Eastern’s 3-2 loss to No. 9 Colorado College on Friday, Elechko had 24 kills and 16 digs. In Wednesday’s 3-0 win over FDU-Florham, Elechko hit .464 with 16 kills on only 28 attacks.
Melanie Phifer (Upper Dublin) recorded a match-high six service aces in Lebanon Valley’s 3-2 win over Oswego State on Saturday. In Tuesday’s 3-2 win over Alvernia, Phifer had 12 digs.
