Junior Damien Washington (Upper Moreland) was 5-for-6 from the field and 2-for-3 from deep for 16 points, a team-high eight boards and two blocks in Delaware Valley University’s 77-66 come-from-behind win over Penn State Berks. The Upper Moreland grad had 13 points and three steals – including a monster steal and dunk – in a second half that saw the Aggies close out the game with a 44-18 tear.
Freshman Robbie Heath (Abington) scored 20 points for the second game in a row in West Chester’s 113-91 win over Lincoln University in the final game of the Messikomer Tip-Off Tournament on Saturday. He also had team highs with six assists and six rebounds. In Friday’s 69-62 win over Claflin, Heath led all scorers with 20 points to go along with nine rebounds in his collegiate debut. He had a team-high 36 minutes played.
Redshirt junior Max Wagner (Pennridge) led the Huskies with 22 points and went 8-for-12 from the field while pulling down six rebounds in Bloomsburg’s 83-72 loss to Fayetteville State University on Sunday in the final game of the Glenville State Tip-Off Classic. In Saturday’s 103-92 loss to Glenville, Wagner had a double-double with 18 points and a game-high 19 rebounds. He also added a block and steal as well.
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
University of Scranton senior guard Makenzie Mason (Central Bucks West) was named a First Team Preseason All-American by 
D3Hoops.com. Mason is coming off a junior season in which she was named a D3Hoops.com Second Team All-American as well as National Jesuit Player of the Year, D3Hoops.com Middle Atlantic Region Player of the Year and Landmark Conference Player of the Year. The CB West alum was also named to the NCAA Tournament All-Tournament Team after helping lead Scranton to the Final Four. A season ago, the senior led the team with 14.0 points per game, 7.6 rebounds per game, 100 assists and 53 blocks, which are the eighth most all-time in a single season in program history. Mason started all 32 games for the Lady Royals and registered 10 double-doubles, including 18 points and 10 rebounds in an NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 victory over Christopher Newport. She scored in double figures in 26 of the 32 games and tallied a career-high 29 points in the Landmark Conference semifinal victory over Moravian. In her career, Mason has averaged 9.2 points to go along with 5.8 rebounds per game and ranks in the top 10 all-time in program history in three-point percentage (37.1, 4th), field goal percentage (51.0, 8th) and blocks (93, 9th).
Freshman Alexa Brodie (Central Bucks South) scored 11 points and shared team scoring honors in Colgate’s 79-52 rout of NJIT in its season opener on Tuesday night. The CB South grad, who was in the starting lineup, scored the first points of each half on three-pointers. She also had five assists and a steal. It was Colgate’s largest season-opening win in 29 years.
Taylor O’Brien (Plymouth Whitemarsh) scored five points off the bench in the first half and also had three steals in Bucknell’s 71-37 victory over Monmouth on Saturday.
Sophomore Lauren Fortescue (Plymouth Whitemarsh) scored a team-high 15 points, which included a 3-for-4 effort from three-point range, while adding two assists, two steals and two rebounds in Salisbury’s 80-66 loss to Muhlenberg on Saturday.
Irisa Ye (North Penn) led all players with 20 points to go along with three steals in No. 17 University of the Sciences 54-40 win over No. 25 Bentley in its season opener on Friday. Jess Huber (North Penn) also finished in double figures with 11 points while Jordan Vitelli (Central Bucks South) had eight. Mikaela Giuliani (North Penn) dished out a game and career-high seven assists in 16 minutes.
Lydia Konstanzer (Pennridge) contributed 21 points and 14 rebounds in Ursinus College’s 82-73 loss to Albright in Friday’s season opener.
Alynna Williams (Plymouth Whitemarsh) scored a game-high 25 points in Jefferson’s 63-58 loss to Queens (N.Y.) in Saturday’s season opener. She connected on 8-of-19 shots from the floor and eclipsed the 1,200-point mark. She is the 22nd Rams’ player to reach the figure. Freshman Haley Meinel (Central Bucks South) scored eight points and added five steals.
Devan Rimmer (Pennridge) led all scorers with 22 points in Widener’s 72-69 win over Mary Washington on Sunday. The Pennridge grad connected on 7-of-11 shots overall and 4-of-7 from beyond the arc. In Widener’s 72-43 win over St. Mary’s, Rimmer led the Pride with 16 points while grabbing six rebounds. She also had two steals.
Samantha Brusha (Abington) had five rebounds in Millersville’s 85-73 loss to Urbana on Sunday.
MEN’S CROSS COUNTRY
Cairn University senior Joel Varughese (Bensalem) bounced back after an injury-riddled season to dominate the 2019 CSAC Championship, finishing the race with a time of 29:02.6 to take home the individual title by 22 seconds. Varughese and Trevor Hickey (Quakertown) both earned spots on the CSAC first team. Hickey placed sixth with a time of 30:56.16.
Penn State Abington sophomore Ben Hoyer (Wissahickon) earned a sixth place finish with a time of 27:55 on the 8K course at the NEAC Championship held at SUNY Cobleskill last Saturday.
Holy Family sophomore Sean Rahill (William Tennent) was the top finisher for the Tigers as he finished the 10K course in a time of 35:02.7 to finish 78th overall out of 168 participants at the NCAA Division II East Region Championships on Saturday at Belmont Plateau. Freshman Tewodros Simmons (William Tennent) recorded a time of 38:54.5 while junior MJ Powlowiz (Harry S Truman) followed right behind in 39:01.9.
Villanova senior Casey Comber (Hatboro-Horsham) finished third with a time of 25:41.1 at the BIG EAST Cross Country Championships last Saturday and earned first team All-BIG EAST honors for the fourth straight year. Villanova won the men’s team title.
St. Joseph’s junior Matthew Scarpill (Central Bucks South) finished ninth with a time of 25:31.8 at the 2019 Atlantic 10 Cross Country Championship last Saturday. Paced by a 5:08.1 mile average, Scarpill improved 12 total places from 3K through the finish, a consistent six from the 3k to the 5k and six from the 5k to the finish line. Sophomore Ben Bunch (Central Bucks West) posted a time of 27:08.9 (81st). The Hawks finished second as a team.
Ursinus College senior Daniel Powell (Central Bucks East) was the sixth Bears’ runner to cross the finish line in a time of 28:05.4 (63rd) at the Centennial Conference Championship last Saturday.
Gwynedd Mercy freshman Thomas Bala (Bensalem) placed 12th with a time of 30:43.1 to earn second team all-conference honors at the 2019 Atlantic East Conference Cross Country Championships last Saturday.
Kutztown sophomore Giordanovenchy Cerisier (Hatboro-Horsham), in his first regional race, finished 96th with a time of 31:50.8 at the 10k NCAA Atlantic Regionals at Lock Haven University on Saturday.
Bloomsburg redshirt junior Declan McDonald (Central Bucks West) posted a time of 34:41.6 to finish 94th overall at the NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional Championships at Lock Haven on Saturday.

Iona University senior Hannah Molloy (Pennsbury) placed 22nd with a time of 22:56 at the 2019 MAAC Championships. Iona won the team championship for the fourth year in a row.
Cairn University sophomore Julia Markey (Souderton) placed 11th with a time of 28:46.3 at the 2019 CSAC Championships.
Bucknell sophomore Olivia Dyer (North Penn) finished third in the field of 112 in her first-ever Patriot League Championships. The North Penn grad improved on her 13th place finished at the Harry Lang Invite and earned first team All-Patriot honors.
Holy Family sophomore Victoria Reid (Bensalem) recorded a time of 28:35.3 (139th) at the NCAA Division II East Region Championships at Belmont Plateau on Saturday. It marked the first time since 2014 that the Tigers have competed in the East Region. Senior Bernadette Hughes (Council Rock North) also scored for the Tigers as she finished in a time of 32:00.6 (154th).

Kutztown sophomore Lynne O’Connor (William Tennent) had a career-best finish of 77th in a personal best time of 23:42.9 at the NCAA Atlantic Regionals 6K at Lock Haven on Saturday.
West Chester senior Tara McLaughlin (North Penn) claimed 31st place with a time of 22:43.9 at Saturday’s NCAA Atlantic Regionals Championship at Lock Haven.
FIELD HOCKEY
Providence graduate student Corinne Kenney (Central Bucks South) was named to the All-BIG EAST first team. A three-time All-BIG EAST selection and two-time first team selection and a second team selection in 2017, Kenney has been a fixture for the Friars’ defensive unit and has started each of the 74 games she has appeared in during her career (2015-19). She missed the 2016 campaign with an injury and returned for her final year of eligibility as a graduate student in 2019. In 18 games this season, she tallied three points on three assists. For her career, Kenney has registered 13 points on two goals and nine assists. Kenney is the 12th player in program history to earn All-BIG EAST first team honors in multiple seasons.
Christen Pennington (Neshaminy) made a defensive save in the fourth quarter to bring her collegiate total to 17 in Villanova’s 6-0 loss to No. 19 Old Dominion in its season finale.
Albright junior goalkeeper Brynne Schope (North Penn) was named to the MAC Commonwealth Women’s Field Hockey All-Conference second team. The North Penn grad received All-Commonwealth honors at goalkeeper for the first time in her collegiate career. In her first full season as the starting goalkeeper, Schoppe started in all 19 games and picked up six wins along with two shutouts. She ranked third in the Commonwealth with a .758 save percentage and tied for second with 116 saves. Schoppe finished the year with a 1.89 goals against average, which was good for fifth best in the MAC Commonwealth.
Schoppe recorded four saves in 60 minutes in Albright’s 2-1 win over Stevenson.
Junior Anna Lehman (Council Rock North) opened the scoring with a goal in Lehigh’s 4-0 victory over visiting Saint Louis.
Eastern University sophomore Abigail Geisler (Neshaminy) – after missing much of her freshman season with an injury – emerged as a threat in the circle and earned MAC Freedom second team all-conference honors. Geisler finished the year with a team-best 14 goals to finish third in the MAC Freedom in scoring. Four of her goals, including an overtime tally in the team’s final league game against Delaware Valley, stood as game-winners.
Senior Katie Bagdon (Council Rock South) was credited with a defensive save in Drexel’s 2-1 loss to Northeastern.
Erin Saybolt (Souderton) scored a goal in No. 12 Ursinus College’s 2-1 win over Washington College.
Shippensburg junior midfielder Sarah Womer (Council Rock South) was named to the All-PSAC second team. The CR South grad, who earned her first All-PSAC recognition, was an integral member of the defensive midfield for the Raiders and contributed to a unit that totaled five shutouts and allowed one goal or less in 13 games. She also had a goal and an assist on the year.
Mia Sexton (Neshaminy) scored the eventual game-winner in Temple’s 3-0 win over LIU Brooklyn in last Sunday’s season finale, and senior Becky Gerhart (Quakertown) put the game away, scoring the final goal of the game and her career. In Temple’s 3-2 double overtime loss at Quinnipiac in the team’s conference finale, Gerhart scored the first goal of the game less than a minute into the first quarter.
Dakota Hurwitz (Central Bucks South) scored a goal in Gwynedd Mercy’s 3-0 first round victory over sixth-seeded Neumann last Saturday in the 2019 Atlantic East Field Hockey Tournament.
Freshman Samie Hackman (Pennsbury) scored a goal in La Salle’s 4-2 loss to No. 13 Saint Joseph’s.
Juliana Borisow (Souderton) recorded a defensive save in Kutztown’s 1-0 loss to East Stroudsburg in Sunday’s PSAC title game. In KU’s 2-0 win over IUP, Borisow was part of the Golden Bears’ defensive unit that earned the shutout win.
Johns Hopkins senior Sophie Kim (North Penn) was selected to participate in the Victory Sports Tours/NFHCA Division II Senior Game featuring the top senior players in the nation. This year, the Division III Senior Game will take place in conjunction with the NCAA Division II Field Hockey Championship in Manheim, Pa. The Victory Sports Tours/NFHCA Division III Senior Game is projected for 5 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 3, at the Spooky Nook Sports Complex following the completion of the NCAA Division II semifinal game. Kim was a mainstay in the defensive backfield for a Johns Hopkins squad that defeated Franklin & Marshall 2-1 on Saturday to win its second consecutive Centennial Conference title. With the win, sixth-ranked Hopkins earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament and is one of four schools that will host the second and third round games this weekend. Hopkins, which has an opening round bye, will face the winner of the Worcester State and 11th-ranked Messiah game on Saturday, Nov. 16, 11 a.m.
FOOTBALL
Sophomore Malik Bootman (Upper Dublin) registered a career-high 148 yards and two touchdowns on 33 carries in Albright’s 20-10 win over Misericordia in MAC play on Saturday. Bootman has rushed for 250 yards against the Cougars in the past two seasons. Junior Will Dogba (Neshaminy) added 38 yards on 11 carries and scored his first touchdown of the season.
Junior Reese Udinski (North Penn) was 23-of-34 for 213 yards and one touchdown in VMI’s 60-21 loss to No. 9 Furman on Saturday. The North Penn grad is three touchdowns from tying the program record for career passing touchdowns set by Al Cobb (2014-16). In VMI’s 43-35 setback to Western Carolina last Saturday, Udinski saw his FCS record of 368 passes without an interception come to an end early in the fourth quarter. With 449 yards of total offense for the day, Udinski is now responsible for 6,045 career yards of total offense, which ranks No. 2 in VMI history. With two passing touchdowns on the day, he now has 38 for his career, which is second in VMI football annals. Udinski finished with 317 passing yards against the Catamounts, marking his ninth career game passing for 300 or more yards in a single outing.
Malcolm Carey (Bensalem) had a 54-yard touchdown run in Alvernia’s 84-56 loss to FDU Florham on Saturday. The Bensalem grad ran for 224 yards and three touchdowns.
Senior quarterback Thomas Garlick (Quakertown), the program’s all-time leader in a number of statistical categories, threw for 122 yards and added 68 rushing yards in Ursinus College’s 44-16 loss to Franklin & Marshall on Saturday. Stacey Gardner (Upper Dublin) had a two-yard touchdown run.
Graduate student Luke Durkin (Central Bucks West) had 90 yards and two touchdowns on 16 carries in Shippensburg’s 35-10 win at East Stroudsburg on Saturday. In last Saturday’s 65-32 win over Lock Haven, Durkin finished with 105 yards and two touchdowns on 21 carries.
Darryl Davis-McNeil (Abington) gained a career-high 88 yards on 11 carries in No. 15 Kutztown’s 37-17 win over Millersville on Saturday. Nick Vasger (North Penn) recovered a fumble.
Sophomore Sterlen Barr (Upper Moreland) forced a fumble that was recovered by freshman Shamar Edwards (North Penn) in No. 22 West Chester’s 30-17 loss to No. 17 Kutztown last Saturday.

Redshirt junior Nyfease West (North Penn) had a pair of touchdowns – one rushing and one receiving – in Bloomsburg’s 42-35 loss to Shepherd on Saturday. He finished the game with 54 yards on 11 carries. In last Saturday’s 26-21 win over Millersville, West had 50 yards on 11 carries.

Temple junior Dawson Anders (Souderton) carded a 77 to tie for ninth at the 2019 City 6 on Saturday. The one-day, 18-hole City 6 Tournament was played under cold and windy conditions at the 6,876-yard, Par 70 Huntingdon Valley Country Club. At the Intercollegiate at Innisbrook in Palm Harbor, Fla., Anders led the team overall, tying for 44th with a nine-over 222. He had the best round of the tournament with a two-over 73.
La Salle junior David Kim (Upper Dublin) led the Explorers with a 75 (+5) to finish tied for sixth overall at the annual City Six Tournament.
MEN’S SOCCER
Sophomore Billy Hanratty (William Tennent) ended the season tied for the top spot in offensive points for Albright College with three goals (six points).
Penn State Abington junior Jose Palomeque (Upper Dublin) earned his third consecutive First Team All-NEAC honor after another outstanding season. Palomeque finished second in the conference in assists with 10 and is the program’s all-time leader in that category with 22. The UD graduate also added six goals for the season.
Penn State Abington junior midfielder Sebastian Krystofowicz (Central Bucks East) earned All-NEAC Second Team honors. The CB East graduate was second on the team in goals with nine and also set up another six to finish second on the team in assists as well.
Penn State Abington junior Michael Albers (William Tennent) was named to the All-NEAC Third Team for his outstanding defense. Albers led the backline and helped the Nittany Lions finish second in the conference in goals-against average with 1.06 per game.
Krystofowicz scored his 10th goal of the season in the 66th minute of Penn State Abington’s 4-2 loss to Keuka College in the North Eastern Athletic Conference semifinals on Saturday. In the Nittany Lions’ 4-1 win over SUNY Poly, Palomeque scored a goal in the 37th minute. In the Nittany Lions’ 4-0 win over SUNY Cobleskill, Krysztofowicz scored a goal that gave Penn State Abington a 2-0 lead.
Jacob Helwig (Central Bucks South) scored a goal to give the Bears a 2-1 lead in Ursinus College’s 3-2 loss to Haverford.
Senior Colin Marks (Pennsbury) converted a penalty kick in Shippensburg’s 4-2 loss to Lock Haven on Friday.
Sophomore Nick LeFevre (William Tennent) scored a goal in Widener’s 3-2 loss in double overtime to Lebanon Valley last Saturday.
Senior Nick Jachwak (Souderton) scored his first goal of the season in West Chester’s 3-0 win over St. Thomas Aquinas College.
Redshirt freshman Nathan Slotnick (Pennsbury) had three saves in the first 45 minutes in Bloomsburg’s 2-0 loss to Millersville on Saturday. In the Huskies’ 4-2 win over Daemen, Slotnick played all 90 minutes in goal and improved to 4-4 on the year with the win. He made two saves in the contest.

Vanderbilt University junior Maddie Elwell (Wissahickon) was named to the All-SEC second team as she helped lead Vanderbilt to the Eastern Division title. The Wissahickon grad earned her first All-SEC selection for her strong facilitating this season. The junior leads the Commodores and is tied for second in the SEC with nine assists, surpassing her 2018 total of four. Elwell scored her first goal of 2019 against LSU (Oct. 18), and she set a career high with three assists against Georgia State (Aug. 23) in Vanderbilt’s season opener.
Elwell’s corner kick in the 13th minute set up the first goal of the game in Vanderbilt’s 2-1 win over Alabama, a win that advanced the Commodores to the semifinals of the SEC.
Towson University freshman Lindsey Pazdziorko (Souderton) was named Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Rookie of the Week for the week ending Sept. 16. The Souderton grad started in goal in a 0-1-1 week for Towson and helped the Tigers to a 2-2 overtime draw at George Washington. Pazdziorko turned in a career-high 16 saves, tying for eighth most in Towson history and most in the CAA to that point in the season. In a 1-0 setback at George Mason, Pazdziorko had four saves. The Souderton alum, who saw action in eight games, has a team low goals-against average of 1.98.
Senior Marissa Portelli (Hatboro-Horsham) contributed an assist in Cabrini’s 2-0 victory over Marywood University on Saturday. With the win, Cabrini claimed its second conference title in three years and first Atlantic East Conference title. In Cabrini’s 2-0 victory over second-seeded Wesley in a conference semifinal, Portelli contributed an unassisted goal, and Katelyn Gilinger (Springfield Township) recorded a game-high two shots.
Drexel junior Maggie Daeche (Neshaminy) was named to the Colonial Athletic Association as an All-CAA second team performer. The junior defender started all 19 games for the Dragons and served as a veteran leader for a backline that routinely started two freshmen. She logged a team-best 1,785 minutes on the pitch, playing every minute in 17 of Drexel’s 19 games. The junior was instrumental in the Dragons’ four shutouts this season and collected her first collegiate point with an assist in Drexel’s 1-0 win over Seton Hall.
Mary Kate Smith (Springfield Township) scored her third goal of the season in Penn State Abington’s 3-0 win over SUNY Poly last Saturday.
Taylor Moritz (Souderton) was credited with an assist on the Bald Eagles second goal after taking the initial shot into the box in Lock Haven’s 2-1 win over Mansfield University on Saturday. In Lock Haven’s 2-1 win over Shepherd, Moritz was credited with an assist.
Kristina Miller (North Penn) scored a goal in Kutztown’s 4-0 win over Lock Haven.
Sophomore Katie Crouthamel (Quakertown) scored a goal in West Chester’s 2-1 loss to Kutztown on Saturday. In last Saturday’s 7-2 win at Shippensburg, Crouthamel scored in the 44th minute to knot the score 1-1. Junior Hannah Zach (Central Bucks East) scored from 25 yards out at the 59:03 mark to give WCU a 4-1 lead. Dani Cady (Pennsbury) had an assist on a goal in the 66th minute.
Amanda McElhare (Harry S Truman) celebrated Senior Night by scoring the golden goal with just under six minutes to go in the second overtime to give No. 15 Millersville a 2-1 win over No. 23 East Stroudsburg on Wednesday. McElhare also had a crossing pass to set up the first goal. McElhare’s goal was her fourth of the season and is a personal career high for a single season.
Senior Jessica Milligan (Pennridge) had an assist in No. 6 Bloomsburg’s 1-0 victory over Kutztown.
MEN’S SWIMMING
Mark Preedy (William Tennent) was part of the first place 200-yard medley relay with a time of 139.83 in Arcadia’s 131-131 tie at Messiah on Saturday. In last Saturday’s 139.5-122.5 win over Albright, Preedy was part of the first place 200-yard medley that posted a time of 1:38.65.
Ridge Hagar (North Penn) won both butterfly events in Messiah’s 131-131 draw with Arcadia on Saturday, securing the 200 with a time of 2:04.38 and the 100 with a time of 54.11. In last Saturday’s double-dual, Messiah topped Hood 185-182 but fell to Widener 147.5-131.5. Hagar claimed the 100 butterfly in a time of 54.34, less than a quarter of a second ahead of second place. He finished second in the 200 fly in a time of 2:02.73.
Ryan Hartmann (North Penn) was a two-time winner in the 100 (49.28) and 200 free in IUP’s 108-5.89-5 win over Saint Vincent.
Liam White (Pennsbury) won the 100 freestyle with a time of 10:07.51, leading the pack by nearly nine seconds in the win in Ursinus College’s 149.5-108.5 loss to Swarthmore last Saturday.
Freshman Sam Henninger (Abington) finished first in the 1-meter (293.15) and second in the 3-meter diving in La Salle’s first meet of the season Saturday against Delaware (139-156) and Rider (109-186). At the A-10 Classic last weekend, Henninger finished first in the 1-meter (298.95) and 3-meter (289.10) diving.
Junior Brad Johnson (Central Bucks West) finished fourth in the 100 breaststroke (56.09) in Penn State’s double-dual meet against No. 24 Virginia Tech (145.5-205.5) and No. 8 Ohio State (158.5-193.5). Bryce Hoch (North Penn) led Penn State divers with a score of 286.50 in the 3-meter dive and 281.50 in the 1-meter dive.
Senior Corey Smith (North Penn) won the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:58.07, the fifth best time in the PSAC this season, in Bloomsburg’s 119-74 win over Edinboro University.

Rachel Samson (Council Rock North) set a season-best in the 200 breaststroke (2:38.09) to place second in Arcadia’s 142-119 loss to Messiah on Saturday. The CR North graduate was also part of the first place 200 freestyle relay team that posted a time of 1:44.83. In last Saturday’s 172.5-88.5 win over visiting Albright, Samson paced the Knights with three individual event victories. The CR North grad earned victories in the 200 backstroke (2:23.55), 200 butterfly (2:28.92) and 200 individual medley.
Katelyn Moore (Hatboro-Horsham) finished second in the 400 individual medley, and Jessica Gutekunst (Hatboro-Horsham) was second in the 100 breaststroke in Ursinus College’s 59-35 win over McDaniel on Saturday. Margrethe Leis (Springfield Township) was part of the winning 200 freestyle relay.
Sophomore Phoebe Shaya (Council Rock South) finished first in the 3-meter diving (267.90) and second in the 1-meter in La Salle’s first home meet of the season Saturday against Rider (183-116) and Delaware (96-201). At the A-10 Classic last weekend, Shaya’s top dive came in the 3-meter where she tallied 262.80 points. She also collected a second place finish in the 1-meter.
Freshman Abbie Amdor (Upper Dublin) finished first in the 200 (1:49.94) and second in the 100 free (50.36) in Penn State’s double dual meet with Virginia Tech (216.50-136.50) and No. 24 Ohio State (155-198) last Saturday. She was part of the 400 free relay that finished third with a time of 3:25.27.
West Chester junior Jenna Fox (Council Rock South) placed seventh in the 500 freestyle (5:08.34) and Emma O’Neill (Abington) was eighth (5:10.95) on the first night at the Thomas Murphy Invitational at Loyloa (Md.).
WOMEN’S TENNIS
Holy Family senior Meghan Moyer (Neshaminy) was named to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CAC) Women’s Tennis All-Academic Team. Moyer boasts a GPA of 3.67 and is a nursing major.
WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL
Junior Steph Judkins (Pennridge) had six kills and a team-high 10 digs, and sophomore Hannah Dalton (Abington) tallied seven digs, four block assists and two service aces in Cabrini’s 3-0 loss to Neumann on Thursday in the semifinal round of the Atlantic East Conference Tournament. In Tuesday’s 3-1 win over Wesley, Judkins paired a match-high 17 kills with 13 digs, and Dalton added seven kills, nine digs, three blocks, two assists and two aces. In last Saturday’s 3-0 loss at Rowan, Judkins led the Blue and White with 17 kills and 11 digs while Dalton added seven kills and nine digs. In Cabrini’s 3-0 victory at Wesley, Judkins had 10 kills and eight digs while Dalton had seven kills and four block assists. In Cabrini’s 3-1 loss to Neumann, Judkins earned match high honors with a season-high 25 kills to go along with 11 digs.
Penn State Abington sophomore outside hitter Jenny McAnaney (Upper Dublin) earned NEAC second team All-North Eastern Athletic Conference honors. In her first season as a Nittany Lion, McAnaney recorded 234 kills, 245 digs, 14 service aces and 256 points. She is fourth in the NEAC with 3.46 kills per set and fifth in kills.
McAnaney contributed 24 kills and 24 digs in Penn State Abington’s 3-2 win over Penn State Harrisburg on Saturday. With the win, the Nittany Lions competed in the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) championship for the first time in school history. They fell to three-time conference champion Morrisville State. In the Nittany Lions 3-0 win over Gallaudet University in the NEAC opening round, McAnaney led the way with 16 kills and 16 digs. In the Nittany Lions’ 3-0 sweep over Penn College, McAnaney had 16 kills, 15 digs and one block.
Junior Allison Laucella (Hatboro-Horsham) had a career-high 19 digs in La Salle’s 3-0 win over Rhode Island.
Holly Owen (Hatboro-Horsham) had 11 kills in Kutztown’s 3-0 loss to Millersville on Saturday. In Friday’s 3-2 loss to West Chester, Owen produced a match-high 28 kills and went over 900 in her KU career. She also chipped in 10 digs for her fourth double-double this fall. Owen is up to 914 career kills and is poised to set new career highs in single-season kills and attempts as the regular season winds down. In KU’s 3-0 loss to Shepherd, Owen had 11 kills. In the Golden Bears 3-1 loss to Shippensburg, Owen tied a game-high with 20 kills and also had 15 digs and one ace.
Sydney Buell (Pennsbury) had 11 assists, three aces and four digs while Bryn Stek (Upper Dublin) chipped in seven assists and four digs in Bloomsburg’s 3-0 loss to Shippensburg on Saturday. In Friday’s 3-0 loss to Shepherd, Buell had 12 assists and five kills while Stek had 10 assists and seven digs. In last Saturday’s 3-0 loss to West Chester, Stek had 16 assists. In the Huskies’ 3-0 loss to Millersville, Buell led the Huskies with 18 assists.
Gwynedd Mercy sophomore setter Bridget McTamney (Plymouth Whitemarsh) earned a spot on the Atlantic East Honor Roll for the week ending Nov. 3. The PW graduate was a dig shy of a double-double, finishing with 30 assists and nine digs along with two kills and an ace in Gwynedd Mercy’s 3-0 win over Immaculata to clinch a playoff berth.
Madelyn Mosser (Pennridge) had a team-high seven kills in Gwynedd Mercy’s 3-1 loss to Marywood in the opening round of the 2019 Atlantic East Volleyball Tournament. McTamney notched her 19th double-double on the season, racking up 21 assists and 15 digs. Libero Cait Saalfrank (Pennridge) collected 38 digs. In the Griffins’ 3-0 win over Immaculata, Saalfrank had 21 digs, three aces and a pair of kills.
WRESTLING
Ursinus junior Ray Calderaio (Central Bucks South) finished fourth at 133 pounds at the annual Fall Brawl on Saturday at Ursinus. The South graduate lost in the first round but reeled off three wins in a row to take fourth. He logged a major decision followed by two decisions, one a 9-7 thriller against teammate Kyle Seibert.
