MEN’S BASKETBALL
Joe Russell (Hatboro-Horsham) had a double-double with 14 points and 10 boards in Delaware Valley University’s 85-69 loss to Moravian College. In Del Val’s 73-64 non-league loss to The College of New Jersey. freshman Damian Washington (Upper Moreland) had 10 points and 10 rebounds. Russell also had 10 points.
Josh McWiliams (Council Rock North) contributed six points, six rebounds and five assists in McDaniel’s 69-53 victory over Goucher on Saturday. In McDaniel’s 67-62 loss to Washington, McWilliams had 10 points, six rebounds and four assists. In last Saturday’s 83-74 loss to Ursinus, McWilliams scored a team-high 24 points. In McDaniel’s 74-56 loss to Dickiinson, McWilliams led the Green Terror with 15 points.
Junior Evan Slone (Souderton) connected on 5-of-10 shots while scoring 10 points in Arcadia’s 78-69 win over Stevenson on Saturday. In Wednesday’s 77-70 loss to Messiah, sophomore Will Derr (Upper Dublin) neared a double-double with nine points and a team-leading nine rebounds. Slone scored 12 points. In last Saturday’s 73-57 loss to Albright, Slone led the Knights with 15 points while connecting on 5-of-9 from the floor (55.6 percent).
Sophomore Tracy Simsick (Souderton) scored 15 points, which included three treys, in DeSales University’s 71-67 win over Muhlenberg College on Saturday. The win was the seventh straight for DeSales. In Thursday’s 89-63 win at Penn State-Berks, freshman Mike Bealer (Souderton) had a breakout game, hitting six threes and scoring 18 points off the bench. In Monday’s 66-60 win over Penn State-Harrisburg, Simsick poured in a season-high 18 points. In the Bulldogs’ 69-65 win over Arcadia, Simsick had a team-high 14 points.
Junior guard Jimmy Murray (Plymouth Whitemarsh) scored a team-high 22 points to go along with four rebounds and three assists in Moravian’s 75-71 win over Baruch (N.Y.) College on Saturday. In Wednesday’s 81-65 victory over Penn State-Lehigh Valley, Murray tossed in a game-high 18 points to go with seven rebounds and four steals. In last Saturday’s 69-68 victory at Elizabethtown in the Landmark Conference opener for both teams, Murray led the Hounds with 17 points. In Moravian’s 85-69 victory at Delaware Valley, Murray contributed 15 points, four boards and three steals.
Sophomore Riley Thompson (Council Rock North) scored a team-high 17 points, which included seven straight points in less than a minute, in Ithaca’s 75-62 win at Wells College on Tuesday. In last Saturday’s 87-79 overtime victory at Bard College, Thompson chipped in 11 points and went 3-for-6 from beyond the arc. In Ithaca’s 86-64 win over SUNY Cortland, Thompson had 14 points.
Sophomore forward John Ryan (William Tennent) led the team with 17 points in Penn State Abington’s 81-78 loss to Wilson on Saturday. In Tuesday’s 98-88 overtime loss to Penn State Berks, Ryan led the team with 20 points and added three assists. In the Nittany Lions’ 91-64 win over the College of Saint Elizabeth, Ryan contributed 12 points.
Junior Mekhi Bryant (Pennsbury) had eight points in Holy Family’s 54-52 loss to Jefferson University on Saturday. In last Saturday’s 85-81 loss to University of the Sciences, Bryant finished with 16 points and a game-high seven assists.
Ursinus senior forward Zach Quattro (Hatboro-Horsham) was named the Centennial Conference Player of the Week for the week ending Dec. 3. Quattro was on fire in two games for the Bears over the previous week,
averaging 22.0 points and shooting a scorching 76.0 percent from the field (19-for-25). Quattro scored a team-high 25 points on 11-of-15 shooting in a 77-69 loss to unbeaten Franklin & Marshall and then came back to make 8-of-10 from the field for 19 points in an 83-77 overtime victory at McDaniel. The forward buried a huge 3-pointer to stretch the Bears’ lead to five with 35 seconds remaining in the extra session, helping the Bears post their first win in Westminster since 2010. Quattro averaged 6.0 rebounds per game and added three assists and a pair of blocks for the week. One of the catalysts of a dynamic offense that leads the conference in 3-pointers made per game (10.3), 3-point percentage (47.0), and assists per game (20.3). Through Dec. 3, Quattro has scored in double figures in all six games this season. He is shooting 56.4 percent from the field and leads the team in making 56.0 percent from beyond the arc. Quattro is second on the squad in both scoring (17.8 PPG) and rebounding (6.8 RPG).
Quattro scored a game-high 19 points on 7-of-13 shooting in Ursinus College’s 67-60 loss to No. 14 Swarthmore on Wednesday. In last Saturday’s 83-77 overtime win at McDaniel, Quattro made 8-of-10 shots from the floor on the way to a 19-point night. In the Bears’ 77-69 loss to Franklin & Marshall, Quattro tallied 25 points, surpassing his career-best of 22.
Amir Hinton (Abington) scored 23 points and also had five steals and four assists in Lock Haven’s 76-66 loss to the University of Pitt-Johnstown on Saturday. In last Sunday’s 68-64 loss to Edinboro, Hinton finished with 30 points, including 17 in the second half. In last Saturday’s 69-52 loss to Slippery Rock, Hinton netted 15 points to go along with three steals and two blocks.
Kutztown redshirt junior Anthony Lee (Abington) was voted the PSAC Eastern Division Athlete of the Week for the week ending Dec. 3. It is the second league honor for Lee, who combined to score 60 points in three
wins the preceding week. In KU’s win over Gannon, Lee played 39 minutes and scored 18 points, including the 1,000th of his career. He became the 26th player in program history to reach the milestone. He shot 6-for-6 from the free throw line with four assists. In a win over Mercyhurst, he shot 90.9 percent from the field, making 10-of-11 shots. He made 5-of-5 3-pointers in recording a game-high 26 points. He also averaged 5.3 rebounds. 3.0 assists and 2.5 steals per game. At Jefferson, Lee posted a double-double with 16 points and a season-high 12 rebounds in 40 minutes of action. He shot 5-for-5 from 3-point range. Lee has scored in double figures in all seven games and ranks first on the team in scoring (20.9 ppg) and steals (21). His 54.1 percent from 3-point range is first in the PSAC. The Abington graduate entered the season first in the KU record book in career 3-point percentage (47.8 percent) and is shooting 54.1 percent from long range. He also began the year 11th at KU in career field goal percentage (55.7) and is scoring at a 58.7 percent clip. He is also 18-of-19 (94.7 percent) from the free throw line this season.
Lee had 23 points to lead Kutztown to an 84-64 win over Seton Hill on Saturday. Freshman Joseph O’Brien (Abington) had a career high in points (eight) and rebounds (four), including two dunks that fired up his teammates and the crowd inside Keystone Arena. Sophomore Max Wagner (Pennridge) had five points and eight rebounds. In Wednesday’s 87-79 win over Bowie State, Lee led all scorers in the game with 21 points and nabbed two steals, adding to his PSAC lead of 23 on the season. Wagner chipped in four points and Demestrius Bennett (Plymouth Whitemarsh) added two points. In KU’s 67-66 win over Jefferson University, Lee tallied a team-high 16 points and Wagner had 15.
Matt Penecale (Abington) contributed 10 points and eight rebounds in West Chester’s 58-50 win over Mercyhurst on Saturday. In last Sunday’s 88-75 win over Seton Hill, Penecale had 13 points, six boards and two assists. In last Saturday’s 93-78 victory over IUP, Penecale had 12 points and team-high five assists.
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
Colgate junior Mackenzie Carroll (Central Bucks West) was named one of three captains of the women’s basketball team. Carroll in the early going ranks fourth among Patriot League 3-point shooting leaders at 50 percent on 5-of-10. She scored a season-high 11 points in Colgate’s 74-70 win at Cornell, swishing 3-of-4 from long distance. “Mackenzie is the perfect example of the type of person and player you want representing your program and your culture,” coach Bill Cleary said. “She is someone who never takes a play off and never takes a day off. If she’s not in the gym, she’s in the library or in the Chun academic center. She’s always working and always striving to be better than she was the day before, which is a staple of our program.”
Senior Alexis Hofstaedter (Council Rock South) had 13 points, four rebounds and three assists in Holy Family’s 73-67 loss to Jefferson University on Saturday. In last Saturday’s 57-45 loss to University of the Sciences, Hofstaedter finished with seven points and a game-high seven assists. In Holy Family’s 78-58 win over Salem University, Hofstaedter totaled 12 points, five rebounds and a game-high seven assists.
University of Scranton sophomore Makenzie Mason (Central Bucks West) had the best game of her young career while leading the basketball team to a win over crosstown rival Marywood. For her efforts, the CB West graduate was named the University of Scranton Athlete of the Week. Mason finished the game with a career-high 18 points in the Lady Royals 76-53 win over Marywood. She was a perfect 7-for-7 from the field, including a 3-pointer. She added six rebounds, a career-high five assists, two steals and a block. She also made her first career start in the victory. Through six games, Mason is averaging 9.5 points, 7.3 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game.
Mason had 13 points, nine rebounds and three steals in Scranton’s 57-41 victory over Cabrini.
Freshman Lexi Edwards (Central Bucks South) tallied 10 points in 22 minutes of action in Cabrini’s 59-40 victory at Cairn on Wednesday. In last Saturday’s 81-53 win over Immaculata, Edwards contributed 12 points, six rebounds and five assists in 27 minutes of action. In Cabrini’s 57-41 loss to No. 16 Scranton, Edwards had five points.
Albright senior Alysha Lofton (Central Bucks South) earned the MAC Commonwealth Player of the Week
award for the week ending Dec. 3. Lofton helped lead the Lions to a perfect 3-0 record by scoring in double digits in all three games and posting one double-double. She averaged 13.3 points, 8.7 rebounds, three assists, three steals and two blocks per game during the week. In addition, Lofton shot 50 percent from the field (13-of-26), and she connected on 14-of-18 from the free throw line. She started the week with the double-double against Rowan with 15 points and 10 rebounds before following that up with 13 points, seven rebounds, three assists, three blocks and three steals against Stevenson. Lofton nearly had another double-double against Arcadia with 12 points and nine rebounds to go along with four assists, three steals and two blocks. Through Dec. 3, Lofton ranked sixth among MAC Commonwealth teams with 8.7 rebounds per game and 3.5 assists per game while ranking second in steals per game with 2.8. This is the third time in her Albright career that Lofton has earned player of the week honors after winning it twice last season.
Lofton contributed 16 points, eight rebounds and three blocks in Albright’s 77-70 loss to Widener on Wednesday.
Sophomore Taylor Dunn (Central Bucks South) had a career day in Arcadia’s 63-55 loss to Stevenson on Saturday, posting her first career double-double with career highs in points (26) and rebounds (16). The CB South graduate netted her 26 points on 9-of-16 shooting from the floor, including 3-of-6 from long range. She was a perfect 5-of-5 from the foul line. In Wednesday’s 87-56 loss to No. 17 Messiah, Dunn had 15 points and seven rebounds. In Arcadia’s 66-61 win over DeSales, Dunn contributed 13 points and six assists.
DeSales University senior Kaitlin Kelly (Pennsbury) was named the MAC Freedom Player of the week for the week ending Dec. 3. Kelly led the Bulldogs to a 1-1 record, averaging 11.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists in the two games. She was the hero in a 66-63 win over Sage, hitting a three at the buzzer to give DeSales the three-point win. She finished that game with 13 points and career-high seven rebounds. In a loss at Arcadia, she totaled 10 points, two rebounds, two assists and two steals. Kelly shot 50 percent (7-for-14) from outside the arc for the week.

Allison Chernow (Upper Dublin) contributed six points, three steals and three rebounds in Emory University’s 53-40 win over Agnes Scott on Tuesday.
Washington College sophomore Cassidy Quattro (Hatboro-Horsham) was named the Shorewoman of the
Week for the week ending Nov. 28. The sophomore forward helped lead the Shorewomen to a 71-38 win over Swarthmore in their Centennial Conference opener. Quattro piled up 16 points, seven rebounds, four assists, one steal and one block in just 20 minutes of action. The 33-point margin of victory was the Shorewomen’s largest ever over the Garnet.
Quattro tallied six points, 12 rebounds, three blocks and three steals in Washington College’s 67-32 win over Bryn Mawr on Wednesday. In last Saturday’s 63-42 loss to Gettysburg, Quattro had eight points, five rebounds, two blocks and two steals. In Washington College’s 74-61 loss to McDaniel, the sophomore forward posted her second double-double of the season and fifth of her career with a team-best 15 points and a game-high 10 rebounds.
Deja Rawls (Abington) scored 12 points on 5-of-7 shooting (.714) from the field in Siena’s 78-63 loss to the University of Albany on Saturday. In Monday’s 70-60 win over Hofstra, Rawls scored eight points in the final 1:15 of the game. She finished with 11 points.
Allison Gallagher (Souderton) scored a season-high 26 points in Widener’s 79-61 loss to Lycoming on Saturday. In Wednesday’s 77-70 victory over Albright, Gallagher had 14 points and a team-high tying eight rebounds. Devan Rimmer (Pennridge) netted 11 points, and Emma Gardy (Central Bucks South) had six points, knocking down a pair of threes. In last Saturday’s 73-60 loss to Stevenson, Gallagher netted a season-high 25 points. In Widener’s 56-54 loss to Lebanon Valley, Gallagher had eight points and eight rebounds, and Rimmer had nine points.
Freshman Lizzie Oleary (Abington) scored a season-high 10 points in Delaware’s 84-49 win over Delaware State on Sunday.
University of the Sciences freshman Irisa Ye (North Penn) was named CACC Rookie of the Week award for
the week ending Dec. 3. Ye surpassed her season-high in scoring in all three of the USciences games last week with victories over two NCAA Tournament teams from last season – Adelphi and Queens as well as Holy Family in its CACC opener. Coming into the week with four total points in USciences’ first three games, Ye scored at least nine in all three games en route to averaging 12.3 points in 23.3 minutes per game off the bench. She did so efficiently, making 11-of-17 from the field, 6-of-9 from beyond the arc and all nine of her free throw attempts. The freshman also averaged 2.7 rebounds. Ye fell one point shy of double figures at Adelphi, making all four of her foul shots in 17 minutes. She then had her first career double-digit scoring performance in a near-perfect shooting performance at Holy Family, making 4-of-5 field goals, 2-of-3 3-pointers and 2-of-2 free throws en route to a team-high 13 points. She also set new season bests with four rebounds and two assists. Ye capped the week by leading USciences in scoring once again with 15 points in the victory over Queens. She was a perfect 3-for-3 from the line and made both of her 3-pointers.
Sophomore Jordan Vitelli (Central Bucks South) contributed 11 points and five rebounds in No. 11 University of the Science’s 72-65 loss to Chestnut Hill on Saturday. The loss snapped a season-opening seven-game winning streak. In Tuesday’s 76-48 win over Georgian Court, Vitelli scored eight of her 14 points in the first quarter. She connected on 3-of-5 from beyond the arc. Ye also had 14 points, the third straight game she has led USciences in scoring, in 11 minutes off the bench. In a rematch of an NCAA Tournament second round matchup against Queens, Ye had 15 points while Vitelli had 11 points, making 3-of-5 from beyond the arc and 4-of-6 from the field. In last Saturday’s 57-45 win over Holy Family, Ye had 13 points and Vitelli added eight. Vitelli went 2-of-4 from beyond the arc and grabbed a season-best five rebounds. In USciences 67-63 win over Adelphi, Ye had nine points.
Junior Nicole Munger (Central Bucks West) scored 10 points in 24th-ranked Michigan’s 54-41 victory over Kent State on Sunday. In Thursday’s 82-76 win over Marquette, Munger had 10 points and eight rebounds. In last Saturday’s 85-49 win over LIU Brooklyn, Munger had 16 points and five rebounds.
Sammy Lochner (Abington) and Sajanna Bethea (Pennsbury) both had six points in Saint Peter’s 66-60 loss to UMass Lowell on Thursday night. In Saint Peter’s 64-49 loss to St. Francis Brookly, Bethea led the team with seven rebounds.
Sophomore Lydia Konstanzer (Pennridge) had 25 points and 11 rebounds in Ursinus College’s 76-70 loss to Muhlenberg on Saturday. In Wednesday’s 53-41 win over Garnet, Konstanzer had 15 points and nine rebounds. In last Saturday’s 53-49 win over McDaniel, Konstanzer had a game-high 20 points to go with 13 rebounds, two assists and two steals. It was her third double-double of the season. Konstanzer shot 7-of-13 from the field and was 6-for-7 from he charity stripe. In Ursinus College’s 73-43 over Bryn Mawr, Konstanzer logged eight points.
Jefferson University redshirt junior Erin Maher (North Penn) was named the CACC Player of the Week for the week ending Dec. 3. Jefferson went 1-1 last week with a win over Georgian Court (80-74) and loss on the road at Kutztown (73-69). Maher scored 26 points on 10-of-15 shooting and 5-of-8 from three-point range in the Rams’ conference win over Georgian Court while adding eight rebounds in the effort. She leads the squad with 11.9 points per game and 2.6 three-pointers made per game.
Maher finished with a team-high 18 points on 7-of-13 shooting, including 4-of-8 from three-point range, in Jefferson’s 73-67 win over Holy Family on Saturday. She also added eight rebounds. In Tuesday’s 81-71 overtime win over Chestnut Hill, freshman forward Sabria Lytes (Harry S Truman) had 10 rebounds. In last Saturday’s 80-64 win over Georgian Court, Maher scored a game-high 26 points while redshirt sophomore Alynna Williams (Plymouth Whitemarsh) notched 13 points on the afternoon. Maher scored 13 of the Rams’ first 27 points, which included going 7-of-7 from the field and hitting all three of her 3-pointer attempts. In the Rams’ 73-69 loss to Kutztown, Maher scored 11 points with three made 3-pointers to go along with four assists.
Senior guard Vicky Tumasz (North Penn) had eight points, six rebounds and four steals in Chestnut Hill’s 72-65 win over No. 19 University of the Sciences on Saturday. In Tuesday’s 81-71 overtime loss to Jefferson University, Tumasz led the way with 19 points. In last Saturday’s 77-53 CACC win over Goldey-Beacom, Tumasz scored a season and career-high 29 points, connecting on 11-of-19 shots (.578). She was 6-of-10 (.600) from three-point range. She also recorded five rebounds and two assists.
Taylor Thames (North Penn) contributed 15 points, two assists and two steals in Kutztown’s 92-66 loss to Seton Hill on Saturday. Gabbi Wright (Cheltenham) added 11 points and one block. In last Saturday’s 46-30 win over Gannon, Thames continued to run the offense effectively, finishing with 13 points, two assists and two steals in 26 minutes of play. In KU’s 73-69 win over Jefferson, Thames dished out a career-high eight assists. Wright scored 14 points.
MEN’S CROSS COUNTRY
Lehigh senior Ryan Grace (North Penn) was honored as the team’s scholar athlete. With a 3.66 cumulative GPA, the international relations and economics double major is a four-time member of the Dean’s List (3.6 GPA), a six-time Patriot League Honor Roll selection and a four-time member of the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team. Grace was a fixture in Lehigh’s top seven in all seven of his races this fall, including an 11th/88 place finish at the Lehigh Invitational.
FOOTBALL
Delaware Valley University senior Nick Wright (North Penn), a business administration major, was named to
the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Team for the third year in a row. The two-time all-Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) honoree wrapped up the year with 62 tackles, seven pass breakups, four interceptions and three sacks. He also scored three touchdowns and added a safety for 20 points. Last month, Wright was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team, placing him on the Academic All-American ballot. To be nominated for the Philadelphia Inquirer Football Academic All-Area Team, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore in class standing and maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA.
Wright also was named to the D3football.com all-East Region second team. The North Penn graduate was part of a veteran defense that allowed just 10.5 points per game (fourth in Division III).
Wright had seven tackles and recovered a fumble in Delaware Valley University’s 31-28 loss to Brockport in the NCAA Division III quarterfinals last Saturday. Brockport won it with a 33-yard field goal as time expired.
Widener junior Vince Char (William Tennent) was named a Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area performer. It is the second time Char has received the honor, and he was one of only two student-athletes named on all 16 ballots. Char is a two-time D3football.com All-East Region, two-time All-MAC First Team and CoSIDA Academic All-District honoree. He finished the year leading the conference and ranking third in NCAA D3 in both sacks with 14.5 and tackles for loss with 24.0. He set an NCAA single-game high this season across all divisions when he recorded six QB takedowns against King’s and recorded a sack in each of the last five games of the year as well as eight of the last nine. Overall, he finished second on Widener with 86 tackles. In the classroom, Char carries a 3.85 GPA as mechanical engineering major, was named to the Middle Atlantic Conference Honor Roll in 2015 and 2016 and was Academic All-Conference in 2016.
Chestnut Hill sophomore quarterback Michael Marino (Wissahickon) was named to the 2017 All-Collegiate Spring Football League (CSFL) second team. The 2016 CSFL Newcomer of the Year threw for 1,051 yards and 14 touchdowns in 2017. He completed 65-of-120 attempts (54.2 percent) and only threw one interception while averaging 150.1 yards per game. Marino also rushed for 28 yards and two touchdowns. He was named the CSFL Offensive Player of he Week on Oct. 24 after recording 183 passing yards and produced six touchdowns (four pass, two rushing) in a 49-7 triumph over triumph over Caldwell University.

Chestnut Hill freshman defensive back Anthony Kelly (Pennridge) was named to the 2017 All-Collegiate Spring Football League (CSFL) second team. He finished the season with 21 tackles, four of them for a loss of 23 yards. He also recorded all three of the Griffins’ interceptions, which he returned for a total of 80 yards.
West Chester senior defensive lineman George Shipp (Souderton) and junior offensive
lineman Frank Tranzilli (North Penn) were named to the All-ECAC first team. Shipp was second in sacks (8.5), second in tackles (13) and tied for fourth on the squad in tackles (53). His sack total placed him fourth in the PSAC for that category. Tranzilli started every single game this season. The offensive guard helped generate a 33.1 points per game average. West Chester was fifth in the PSAC with 188.7 rushing yards per contest. Through the air, the Golden Rams produced 218.3 yards for a grand total of 407 yards per game.
WOMEN’S LACROSSE
James Madison University senior Elena Romesburg (Central Bucks West) was drafted by the Philadelphia Force in the sixth round of the United Women’s Lacrosse League (UWLX) draft. Nearly 30 colleges and universities were represented in the 18-round draft. The UWLX is a Boston-based professional women’s lacrosse league. As a junior at JMU, the former CB West All-American was a First Team All-CAA. Romesburg started all 21 games in the midfield, scoring 36 goals and assisting on 11 others. She was ranked sixth in the CAA in ground balls per game (2.43) and also is ranked sixth in JMU single-season history in ground balls and is tied for 19th in caused turnovers. She is tied for 14th at JMU in career free-position goals (19) and ranks 17th at JMU in draw controls (87).
MEN’S SOCCER
Bloomsburg senior Austin Transue (Neshaminy) was selected to the United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division II All-Atlantic Region Third Team. During his senior season while serving as a team captain, Transue played and started in 14 games, scoring three goals and tallying two assists for eight total points. The honor marks Transue’s second career All-Region selection as he was selected to the All-Region First Team in 2015-16. The Neshaminy graduate is an exercise science major.
MEN’S SWIMMING
Albright senior Tim Resch (Springfield) finished 15th in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:05.73 at the Golden Ram Invitational at West Chester University on Saturday. He finished 14th in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:29.87.
Gettysburg sophomore Ogden Leyens (Upper Dublin) earned a victory in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:41.63 at the Gettysburg Invitational last weekend. He was also part of a pair of second place relays on Saturday night, including the 200 free relay (1:24.54) and 400 medley relay (3:25.81). On Friday night, Leyens finished second in the 100 freestyle with a time 46.19. He also was part of the first place 400 free relay (3:05.99).
Arcadia sophomore Mark Preedy (William Tennent) and senior Jake Schellinger (North Penn) were part of the sixth place 200 free relay that posted a time of 1:28.72 on day one of the three-day TCNJ Invitational last weekend. On day two, Preedy finished fourth in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 59.97 and was part of the second place 800 free relay (7:06.26). Schellinger posted a fifth place finish in the 100 butterfly with a time of 53.63. He also was part of the 200 medley relay that finished fourth with a time of 1:38.99. On day three, Preedy finished sixth in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:15.32. Schellinger finished fifth in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:01.25, over a second faster than his qualifying time.
Shippensburg sophomore Jeff Beyer (Wissahickon) improved his season best in the 1,650 freestyle to 16:23.32, placing fifth overall on day three of the 2017 Bomber Invitational hosted by Ithaca College last weekend. On day two, Beyer finished fifth in the 200 free with a PSAC qualifying time of 1:43.85. He also was part of the fifth place 200 free relay that finished with a time of 1:28.43 as well as the sixth place 400 medley relay that posted a time of 3:36.80. In his season debut in the 100 breaststroke, Beyer posted a PSAC qualifying time of 1:01.43. On day one of the invitational, Beyer finished 13th in the 200 IM in a PSAC qualifying time of 1:58.68.
Sophomore Maxwell Coulter (Pennridge) and junior Travis Venables (Pennsbury) were part of Ursinus College’s 200 medley relay that clocked in at 1:37.98 at West Chester’s Golden Rams Classic, moving to fourth on the Centennial Conference performance list. On day one, Venables was part of the 200 free relay that lowered its time by nearly two seconds with a 1:26.25, moving up two spots to third on the Centennial Conference performance list. Coulter recorded his top mark of the season in the 200 IM (2:04.10). Venables tallied a season low in the 50 free (22.02) where he finished eighth. In last Saturday’s 163-99 loss to No. 25 Swarthmore, Coulter and Venables were part of the second place 200 medley relay (1:39.70). They also were part of the 200 free relay that finished second. Venables placed third in the 50 free with a time of 22.21.
Evan Sherkness (Plymouth Whitemarsh) was part of West Chester’s first place 200 free relay team at the Golden Rams’ quad meet on Saturday. In last Sunday’s TCNJ Diving Invitational, Quinton Mitchell (North Penn) took first in the 11-dive event with a score of 429.20. In the six-dive event, Mitchell took second with a score of 261.55.
Bloomsburg sophomore Devon Polak (Upper Dublin) placed sixth with a time of 2:10.76 in the 200 breaststroke on the final day of the Zippy Invitational last weekend. He also was part of the 400 free relay (3:10.66). On day two of the meet, Polak placed eighth in the 200 freestyle with a mark of 59.17. He also was part of the fourth place 800 freestyle relay (6:58.82). On day one, Polak was part of the seventh place 200 free relay (1:27.91), and he finished 13th in the 200 IM (1:56.85).
WOMEN’S SWIMMING
Arcadia sophomore Rachel Samson (Council Rock North) was part of the 200 freestyle relay that finished fourth with a time of 1:42.04 on day one of the three-day TCNJ Invitational last weekend. She also was part of the 400 medley relay that finished sixth with a time of 4:11.69. On day two, Samson was part of the first place 800 freestyle relay that shaved 13 seconds off of their seeded time, posting the best non-conference championship time in school history (7:59.30). The CR North graduate picked up sixth place points in the 400 IM with a time of 4:51.58. On day three, Samson finished first in the ‘B’ final of the 200 backstroke, dropping nearly three seconds off her preliminary time to finish at 2:15.24. She also was part of the fourth place 400 free relay that finished with a time of 3:44.01.
Eve Kosten (North Penn) was part of the University of Buffalo’s second place 400 freestyle relay team that posted a season-best time of 3:20.54 at the Zippy Invitational last weekend. The time was the fourth fastest in school history. Kosten posted a fourth place finish in a season best 50.00 in the 100 freestyle. On day one of the invitational, Kosten was part of the second place 200 freestyle relay that raced to a season-best time of 1:32.37.
Ursinus freshman Katelyn Moore (Hatboro-Horsham) placed eighth in the 400 IM with a time of 4:48.82 on day two of West Chester’s Golden Ram Classic on Saturday. Freshman Rebecca Warren (Council Rock North) elevated to fourth in the CC with a time of 18:17.20 in the 1650 free. On Friday, Warren took more than four seconds off her collegiate best time in the 500 free with a time of 5:23.32. Moore finished the 200 IM in 2:14.02, placing 11th overall and slicing more than three seconds off her season best. In last Saturday’s 149-113 win over Swarthmore, Warren finished second in the 1000 free with a time of 11:10.74.
Lauren Griffith (Central Bucks East) claimed first place in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:04.20 in Widener’s 157-105 win over Misericordia on Saturday. In last Saturday’s 198-64 win over Salisbury, Sammy Grogan (Council Rock North) had a pair of victories. She won the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:20.92 before claiming the title in the 200 meter event in 2:55.29. She also placed second in the 200 IM, clocking in at 2:40.40. Griffith won the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:38.00.
Theresa Dempsey (Council Rock North) was part of the first place 200 free relay team that posted a time of 1:56.70 in Lock Haven’s 143-93 loss to Kuztown last Saturday.
Bridget Perdoch (Pennsbury) finished first in the 50 breaststroke (32.79) and 100 backstroke (1:11.06) in Kutztown’s 137-93 win over Cedar Crest on Saturday. She also was part of the first place 200 medley relay that posted a time of 1:59.10. Alison McLaughin (North Penn) captured first in the 200 freestyle (2:09.21) and second in 100 freestyle (57.99). In KU’s 143-93 win over Lock Haven, Perdoch won the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:34.66 while McLaughlin finished third in the 100 free (57.16).
Sophomore Emma O’Neill (Abington) was the first of four straight West Chester swimmers to touch the wall in the 400 IM, posting a time of 4:28.06 in Saturday’s quad meet. Elizabeth Miller (Neshaminy) was part of the first place 400 medley relay that posted a time of 3:50.88
MEN’S INDOOR TRACK & FIELD
Shippensburg senior Alex Bala (Quakertown) easily achieved his PSAC qualifying time in the 5000 meters at the 2017 Bison Opener last weekend, winning the event in 15:22.08.
Gwynedd Mercy sophomore Joe McCoy (Neshaminy) took sixth in the triple jump with a top mark of 13.56 meters at the Lehigh Season Opener last weekend, notching an indoor personal best and an ECAC qualifier. Chris Laskowski (William Tennent) set indoor PRs in the 60 meters and 200.
Widener freshman Matt Ludlow (Pennridge), who was racing for the first time as a collegian, took third place in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.49 at the Haverford Holiday Meet on Saturday. The freshman then went on to take first place in the high jump, clearing 21 feet, four inches.
Kutztown senior Brandon Raguz (Central Bucks South) won the pole vault and posted an NCAA provisional mark of 16-00.75 at Bucknell University’s Bison Opener last weekend. An outdoor All-American last year, Raguz set an indoor career-best that moved him up to sixth all-time in program history. Tommy Oliver (Bensalem) cleared 6-3.25 for fourth place in the high jump. Ogi Ogbonna (Harry S Truman) finished fourth in the 60 hurdles with a PSAC qualifying time of 8.56. Anthony Bullaro (Pennsbury) finished sixth with a time of 8.72. Elgin Horton Jr (North Penn) finished fifth in the 800 with a time of 2:02.08, and Ryan Benner (Pennridge) was eighth in the 200 meter dash with a PSAC qualifying time of 22.87. Oliver was 16th in the 300 meter dash with a time of 39.07.
West Chester junior Ish Wright (Quakertown) posted a PSAC qualifying time in the 60-meter hurdles while also moving up to third in team history with his time of 8.58 at the Fast Times Before Finals Invitational on Saturday.
Bloomsburg senior James Wilson (Central Bucks South) finished third in the 600-meter run with a time of 1:25.11 at the Houghton December Classic on Saturday. In last weekend’s Bison Opener, Wilson took second in the 800-meter run with a PSAC qualifying time of 1:59.27. Sophomore Declan McDonald (Central Bucks West) finished sixth in the 5000 meter run with a time of 16:05.98. Senior Alex Moran (Pennridge) was part of the eighth place 4×400 relay that posted a time of 3:34.33. Sophomore Matthew Hart (Pennsbury) tossed the shot put 14.21 meters to finish fifth and qualify for the PSAC Championships.
WOMEN’S INDOOR TRACK & FIELD
Shippensburg sophomore Dior Alston (Cheltenham) won the 400-meter dash at the 2017 Bison Opener last weekend, breaking the 60-second mark with a first place PSAC qualifying time of 59.19. She was part of the fifth place 4×400 relay that posted a time of 4:12.57. Senior Lindsay Sheehan (Pennridge) got her PSAC qualifying time in the 200 by running 26.73 seconds.
Kutztown sophomore Olivia Morano (Quakertown) finished 18th in the shot put with a throw of 9.70m (31-10) at the Bison Invitational last weekend. She finished 19th in the weight throw (10.94m, 35-10.75).
West Chester junior Ally King (North Penn) reached ninth all-time in the 60 meter dash with a PSAC qualifying time of 8.03, and she also had a PSAC qualifying time in the 200 meters with a time of 26.43 at the Fast Times Before Finals Invitational. Also joining King at the PSAC championships in the 60-meter dash and 200 meters will be Emily Magnant (Hatboro-Horsham) and Cara Jackson (Souderton). Magnant also moved into seventh all-time in 200 meters. In the Pentathlon, Caroline DiJosia (Plymouth Whitemarsh) climbed up to ninth in team history with her sixth place finish. On day two, Magnant finished second in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.18 while King came in third with a time of 26.43. Jackson continued her impressive start to her collegiate career as she finished seventh with a time of 26.81 in the 200-meter dash. In last weekend’s Lehigh Season Opener, Jackson was the top finisher for West Chester in the 60m race with a time of 8.804, which was good enough for fifth place. Courtney Taylor (Central Bucks South) finished in 11th place. King finished second in the 400 meters.
Bloomsburg freshman Kathleen Stevenson (North Penn) finished eighth in the 60-meter dash with a time of 8.25 seconds at the Houghton College December Classic on Friday night. In last Saturday’s Bison Opener, Stevenson was ninth in the long jump (5.04 meters).
WRESTLING
Elizabethtown senior Philip Torresani (Hatboro-Horsham) earned a hard-fought decision at 125 pounds in Elizabethtown’s 24-19 loss to Wilkes on Saturday. In last Saturday’s stacked New Standard Corporation Invitational hosted by York College of Pennsylvania, Torresani earned a pair of consolation wins.
Kutztown sophomore Mikey O’Brien (North Penn) finished in fifth place at 157 at the 2017 PSAC Wrestling Championships on Saturday. He earned a win in wrestlebacks with a 10-4 decision over Millersville’s Seth Decker and earned a win by forfeit in the fifth place match for his first career PSAC medal. Jeff Reimel (North Penn) finished sixth at 184 with three wins on the day. Reimel, ranked 10th in Division II at 184, pinned Seton Hill’s Nathan Bowlen in 1:48 in his first match of the day. Dropping his next match, Reimel won two straight in wrestlebacks by way of a pin (1:00) and a major decision (11-1). He worked his way to the fifth place match, bowing out for a sixth place finish. In last Saturday’s 29-11 loss on the road to 13th-ranked Seton Hill, O’Brien earned a 13-6 decision at 157.
Bloomsburg sophomore Bruce Graeber (Neshaminy) placed fourth in the heavyweight division at the PSAC Championships on Saturday. He began the day by defeating Shippensburg’s Derrick Berberick in a 9-6 decision before falling to No. 13 Thomas Haines of Lock Haven by a tech fall (16-0). In the second consolation round, Graeber defeated No. 3 Nick Budd of Gannon by a 6-1 decision. He then advanced over Mercyhurst’s Jacob Robb by way of a medical forfeit before shutting out Edinboro’s John Spaulding in a 2-0 decision. Graeber battled Pitt-Johnstown’s No. 11 Damon Sims Jr in the third place match, winning by decision 3-0.
