MEN’S BASKETBALL
Penn State Wilkes-Barre senior Khalil White (Cheltenham) was named the USCAA Men’s Division II Basketball Player of the Week for the week
ending Dec. 15. White led PSU Wilkes-Barre to two huge victories last week. The first was against No. 6 PSU York. He scored 24 points in 25 minutes of action. This win was the teams 22nd straight win at home. The second win was on the road against PSU Brandywine in which White scored 19 points. He also snagged six steals to go along with three rebounds.
Junior Mike Bealer (Souderton) was the lone double-digit scorer for the Bulldogs with 11 points off the bench in DeSales University’s 73-48 loss to Scranton on Monday.
Junior Damien Washington (Upper Moreland) led all scorers with 28 points to go along with seven rebounds, three blocks, one steal and one assist in Delaware Valley University’s 78-65 win over Bryn Athyn on Friday.
Will Derr (Upper Dublin) had eight rebounds in Arcadia University’s 88-69 victory over Lebanon Valley on Tuesday night. In last Saturday’s 91-83 loss to Stevenson, Derr had a team-high six rebounds and three blocked shots.
Senior John Ryan (William Tennent) scored 17 points and pulled down 10 rebounds for a double-double in Penn State Abington’s 72-69 win over Clarks Summit University. In the Nittany Lions’ 84-76 loss to Johnson and Wales, Ryan had 13 points.
Redshirt junior Max Wagner (Pennridge) contributed 11 points and five rebounds in Bloomsburg’s 89-84 loss to Gannon on Saturday. In Friday’s 77-59 loss to Mercyhurst, Wagner had eight points and five boards. In Monday’s 96-82 loss to Wilmington, Wagner finished with 17 points.
Shane Ford (Wissahickon) scored eight points in Gwynedd Mercy’s 66-50 loss to Wesleyan at the Hoop MIA D3 Shootout in Miami, Fla., on Wednesday in the team’s final game before the holiday break.

Ithaca College senior Riley Thompson (Council Rock North) was named the Liberty League Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for the week ending Dec. 8. Thompson averaged 25.0 points and 4.0 rebounds in a 2-0 week for Ithaca. He shot 17-for-31 (54.8 percent) overall, 4-for-12 (33.3 percent) from 3-point range and was 12-for-15 (80 percent) at the free throw line. In an 85-68 win at Bard, Thompson scored 25 points with five rebounds and two assists. The next day in a 103-80 victory at Vassar, Thompson poured in 25 points again and shot 9-for-14 (64.3 percent) in the game.
Sophomore guard Trevonn Pitts (Cheltenham) connected on 5-of-7 shots from the field (.714) and hit three free throws en route to his third straight double-digit scoring performance with 14 points in Chestnut Hill’s 103-82 triumph over the University of the Sciences on Saturday. He also recorded six rebounds, two assists and a block. In Thursday’s 70-67 win over Holy Family, Pitts led four Griffins in double figures with 20 points. He also recorded seven rebounds, two assists, a block and a steal. In Monday’s 96-72 loss to Morgan State, Pitts scored 15 points.
Freshman Robbie Heath (Abington) scored 35 points to lead No. 14 West Chester to a 100-82 victory over Slippery Rock on Saturday. The Abington grad returned from a one-game injury absence and raised his scoring average to 25.1 per game, expanding his lead atop the PSAC. He’s second in scoring among freshmen across all levels of NCAA basketball behind Division III’s Shion Darby of Rhode Island College, who is averaging 28.6.
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
Swarthmore freshman Dana Bandurick (Council Rock North) was named the Centennial Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for the week ending Dec. 15. Bandurick led the Garnet to a 2-0 week, including Swarthmore’s first victory over Johns Hopkins since 2014. The freshman guard averaged 21.5 points, 13 rebounds, 3.5 steals and 2.0 blocks per game. In the conference battle against Hopkins, Bandurick recorded 23 points, 10 rebounds and a season-high five blocks. Against Penn State Abington, she grabbed a season-high 16 rebounds and added 20 points for her third consecutive double-double. Swarthmore earned its fifth victory of the season, which is the most since 2015-16 when the Garnet won five games.
Sophomore Kate Connolly (Souderton) put up nine points with eight boards and three assists in Drexel’s 53-49 loss to the University of Pennsylvania on Friday night. In Tuesday’s 69-31 win over La Salle, Connolly notched a career-high 12 points and five made field goals, including two three-pointers.
Sophomore Taylor O’Brien (Plymouth Whitemarsh) scored a career-high 14 points in Bucknell’s 70-46 victory over Saint Francis on Saturday. The PW graduate, who made her first collegiate start, has reached double-digits three times on the year.

Senior Taylor Dunn (Central Bucks South) reached the 1,000-point plateau in Arcadia University’s 73-65 victory over Lebanon Valley on Tuesday night. Dunn finished with a game-high 27 points after entering the game needing only nine to reach the career milestone. Dunn was also a perfect 15-for-15 from the free throw line in the effort to lead Arcadia to its third straight MAC Commonwealth win.
Dunn had 17 points in Arcadia’s 54-52 win over Stevenson University last Saturday. She also had four steals and two blocks.
Lauren Fortescue (Plymouth Whitemarsh) contributed nine points, nine rebounds and three assists in Salisbury University’s 76-41 win over Goucher last Sunday.
Junior Lexi Edwards (Central Bucks South) had 11 points and freshman Miranda Liebtag (Abington) had 10 in Cabrini’s 75-57 win over Kean University on Friday.
Jordan Vitelli (Central Bucks South) led all players with 18 points and a career-best four steals while posting a team-high five rebounds in 25 minutes in the University of the Sciences 62-37 win over Chestnut Hill on Saturday. Irisa Ye (North Penn) finished second on the team with 16 points. Mikaela Giuliani (North Penn) blocked two shots to move into eighth in program history with 71 for her career while also leading all players with a career-best seven assists in just 18 minutes. In Wednesday’s 75-45 win at Goldey-Beacom, Ye and Vitelli both had 11 points with Ye leading all players with a career-high six assists.
Mount St. Mary’s junior Bridget Birkhead (Central Bucks East) was named a NEC (Northeast Conference) Prime Performer for her effort in Mount’s 78-76 loss to Maryland Eastern Shore. The CB East grad tied the all-time record with eight three-pointers made, earning a career-high 26 points. It is the fifth time in history the feat had been accomplished and is a NEC single-game season high. Birkhead, who connected on 8-of-13 (.615) from beyond the arc, also had five rebounds, five assists and four steals.
Sophomore Emma Stanfield (William Tennent) had 10 points off the bench in DeSales University’s 76-60 win over St. Vincent on Monday.
Senior Makenzie Mason (Central Bucks West) had a team-high 12 points in No. 2 University of Scranton’s 100-44 win over Rosemont on Saturday. In Thursday’s 75-57 win over Misericordia, Mason had 10 points and nine rebounds.
Washington College senior Cassidy Quattro (Hatboro-Horsham) was named the Shorewoman of the Week for the week ending Dec. 19. Quattro pulled down a game-best 10 rebounds against No. 24 Widener on Tuesday at the HoppMIAD3Shootout in Miami, Fla. One day earlier at the shootout against 2019 NCAA Tournament team Eastern Connecticut State, Quattro led all players with three blocks while scoring a team-best seven points to go along with five rebounds. This is Quattro’s third career Shorewoman of the Week honor.
Freshman Brooke Mullin (Neshaminy) scored eight points off the bench in Villanova’s 74-69 loss to Temple.
Ursinus College senior Lydia Konstanzer (Pennridge) was named Centennial Conference Player of the Week for the week ending Dec. 8, following a pair of huge performances in back-to-back victories. Konstanzer averaged 26.5 points and 8.0 rebounds per game. The senior co-captain put up 26 points, seven rebounds and three steals as Ursinus downed Swarthmore 68-57 before going off for 27 points, nine boards and three blocks in a 79-64 defeat of McDaniel. Konstanzer had been held to single digits against both Haverford and Bryn Mawr prior, but her latest explosion was enough to move her into fifth place on the program’s all-time scoring list with 1,329 career points. She is 42 away from Jessica Porada in fourth and her 766 career rebounds are good for eighth on the school charts. Konstanzer ranks second in the CC in scoring at 16.5 points per game. She is fourth in rebounding (7.9 rpg) and eighth in both steals (14) and field goal percentage (51.4). Konstanzer is a conference player of the week honoree for the fourth time in her career.

In Wednesday’s 78-53 loss No. 24 Widener in the opening game of the HoopMIA D3 Holiday Shootout, Konstanzer had a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds.
Senior Alynna Williams (Plymouth Whitemarsh) tallied 16 points and added six steals and four rebounds in Jefferson University’s 71-64 loss to Holy Family on Saturday. Williams moved into the program’s all-time top 10 for scoring. She is 10th with 1,374 career points. Junior Sabria Lytes (Harry S Truman) recorded six. In Thursday’s 93-82 loss to Georgian Court, freshman Haley Meinel (Central Bucks South) recorded 14 points and was 4-for-6 from the floor. Williams added 13 points, four rebounds and four assists. In last Saturday’s 79-68 loss at Bloomsburg, Williams posted a game-high 24 points. Lytes scored eight points while Meinel chipped in with six points and five boards.
Freshman Tamia Wessels (Abington) scored 10 points in Gwynedd Mercy’s 94-80 win at Keystone Tuesday. In Wednesday’s 93-86 victory at Alvernia, Wessels had 10 points. Haley Crossley (William Tennent) and Cayla Sharkey (North Penn) had high rebound honors with six each.

Widener University senior Devon Rimmer (Pennridge) was named the MAC Commonwealth Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending Dec. 8. It is the second time this season she is receiving the honor. Rimmer averaged 27 points per game and connected on 12-of-21 shots from beyond the arc as the Pride opened 2-0 in MAC Commonwealth play with wins against Lebanon Valley and Alvernia. She scored 24 points on 9-for-12 shooting overall and 6-for-8 from distance against Lebanon Valley. Against Alvernia, she netted her fourth career 30-point game, connecting on 6-of-13 shots from beyond the arc while also dishing six assists in a double overtime win. The senior scored 12 of her points in the extra sessions against the Golden Wolves.
Rimmer scored 13 points in No. 24 Widener’s 78-53 victory over Ursinus college at the HoopMIA D3 Holiday Shootout in Miami, Fla., on Wednesday. The Pennridge graduate moved into fourth place on the Widener all-time scoring list with her effort in the game. In Tuesday’s 73-52 win over Washington College (Md.) at the HoopMIA D3 Holiday Shootout, Rimmer led the way with 21 points, connecting on 9-of-15 shots from the floor. She is averaging 24.5 points per game in the last four contests. In last Saturday’s 76-68 victory over Lycoming, Rimmer led Widener with 23 points, connecting on 8-of-10 attempts from the line while playing all 40 minutes. Brooke Bachtle (Pennridge) scored eight points off the bench, all in the third quarter to cut the Warriors lead from 13 to four.
Sophomore forward Bri Hewlett (North Penn) scored seven points off the bench in Chestnut Hill’s 59-45 loss to Holy Family on Wednesday. In Chestnut Hill’s 68-59 loss to Southern Connecticut State University, Hewlett, who made her first start of the season, contributed 14 points and five rebounds. In the Griffins 66-64 loss to New Haven, sophomore guard Abbey Spratt (Central Bucks West) drained a pair of free throws to knot the score 64-64, but New Haven scored on its final possession. Hewlett scored 15 points.
Gabbi Wright (Cheltenham) had eight points and eight rebounds in Kutztown’s 69-62 loss to Edinboro on Saturday. In last Saturday’s 89-70 win over Georgian Court, Wright scored 19 points and also had four rebounds and two assists.
Mia Leonard (Cheltenham) pulled down 13 rebounds, a new career high, in Millersville’s 79-53 upset of No. 9 California on Saturday. She tied a career high in blocks with four and also had seven points. In Friday’s 86-82 loss to Seton Hill, Leonard tallied 10 points and also had four blocked shots. In Monday’s 75-55 win over Wilmington, Leonard had a season-high 14 points on 6-of-7 shooting, including a 2-of-2 effort from the free throw line.
MEN’S TRACK & FIELD
Holy Family junior MJ Powlowicz (Harry S Truman) finished eighth overall in the 600 meters as he set a new personal best in the event with a time of 1:26.54 at the annual Wagner College Shootout. Sophomore Sean Rahill (William Tennent) finished eighth in the one-mile, posting a season-best 4:46.45. Senior Ryan Merriman (Pennsbury) recorded a new personal best in the 1,000-meters as he finished fourth overall with a time of 2:46.23.
WOMEN’S TRACK & FIELD
Holy Family sophomore Victoria Reid (Bensalem) had a seventh place showing in the 3,000-meters at the annual Wagner College Shootout, finishing in a time of 13:20.97 to set a new season best. Reid also recorded a season best time in the one-mile as she crossed the finish line in 6:26.69.
WRESTLING
Millersville freshman Jackson Erb (Neshaminy) exploded in the third period with a takedown into a cradle to earn a fall at 149 pounds in Millersville’s 21-18 win over Messiah College. In Millersville’s 37-14 win over McDaniel College, Erb won by technical fall 16-1.
