MEN’S BASKETBALL
Sophomore Damian Washington (Upper Moreland) contributed 13 points, six rebounds, two steals and two blocks in Delaware Valley University’s 63-61 win over Eastern University on Saturday. In Wednesday’s 81-66 loss to Misericordia, Washington had 10 points and a team-high eight rebounds to go along with four steals. In last Saturday’s 82-70 win at Manhattanville College, Washington grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds and also contributed 11 points, six assists and two steals. In Del Val’s 99-90 win at Wilkes University, Washington finished with a game and career-high 26 points to go with five rebounds.
DeSales University junior Tracy Simsick (Souderton) was named the MAC Freedom Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for the week ending Jan. 30. Simsick scored a career-high 34 points on 13-of-23 shooting in a 92-62 win over Manhattanville. He was 6-of-10 from beyond the arc and added four rebounds, two assists, a steal and a blocked shot.
Sophomore Mike Bealer (Souderton) contributed nine points off the bench, all in the second half, in DeSales University’s 78-77 loss to Wilkes on Saturday. In Wednesday’s 77-72 win over FDU-Florham, Simsickled a balanced scoring attack with 11 points.
Senior guard Jimmy Murray (Plymouth Whitemarsh) scored 24 points, including a buzzer-beating jumper in the lane to force overtime, in Moravian’s 83-76 overtime triumph at Juniata College on Saturday. The PW grad moved into seventh in school history with 1,420 points. In Wednesday’s 89-85 win over Drew, Murray scored a game-high 24 points and also had two rebounds. In Moravian’s 86-81 win over Susquehanna, Murray had 15 points, including a pair of three-pointers as he became the first player in school history to make 200 three-pointers in a career.
Junior Amir Hinton (Abington) netted two of his 40 points from the free throw line in the final minute to propel Shaw to an 87-84 win over Johnson C. Smith University on Saturday. Hinton had just 13 points in the first half. In Wednesday’s 107-87 win over Fayetteville State, Hinton scored a game-high 33 points and also had four assists. In Monday’s 96-61 win over Livingstone, Hinton recorded a game-high 28 points. In last Saturday’s 76-74 loss to Saint Augustine’s, Hinton had 23 points, five rebounds and three assists. In Shaw’s 73-69 win over Winston-Salem State, Hinton led the way with 31 points. He connected on 15-of-17 from the foul line and also had five assists.
Kutztown University redshirt senior Anthony Lee (Abington), who became just the third KU player to reach 
2,000 points, was named the PSAC East Division Athlete of the Week for the week ending Jan. 20. In KU’s two games, Lee averaged 42.5 points per game, 8.5 rebounds, four assists and two steals. In a win at Mansfield, Lee tallied 37 points while making his first six three-pointers. He added eight rebounds, five assists, two blocks and three steals. Against Millersville, Lee netted 48 points, the third most in a single game in program history, and he eclipsed 2,000 career points, ranking second all-time in KU lore with 2,021 career points. He shot 69.5 percent from the floor (16-of-23), 71 percent (5-for-7) from long distance and 92 percent (11-of-12) from the free throw line. He added nine rebounds, three assists, one block and one steal in 40 minutes of action. It is the seventh Athlete of the Week honor for Lee, who holds school records for points in a game (50), three-pointers made in a game (8), season (83) and career (230) and three-point percentage in a season (.516) and career (.495). He ranks second all-time in career points (2,021), fourth in steals (183), eighth in rebounds (566) and blocks (89), third in free throws made (399) and 10th in assists (262). At the time of the award, Lee was second in Division II in scoring at 29.0 points per game.
Lee tallied a team-high 22 points in Kutztown’s 87-77 loss to Shippensburg on Saturday. It was the 51st consecutive game he has reached double figures. Lee added five rebounds, five assists and tied a career-high with three blocks in 35 minutes. In Wednesday’s 81-76 win at Lock Haven, Lee had 14 points and was one rebound shy of a double-double, ending with nine boards and five assists in 37 minutes. In last Saturday’s 93-83 loss to East Stroudsburg, Lee just missed out on a triple-double, finishing with 23 points, a career-high eight assists and seven rebounds while tying a career high with five steals.
Junior Riley Thompson (Council Rock North) scored a game-high 26 points on 10-of-17 shooting and a 5-for-5 effort at the foul line in Ithaca’s 89-85 win over RPI on Saturday. In Ithaca’s 92-81 loss to Hobart last Friday, Thompson finished with a game-high 28 points, including 20 in the second half. He was 11-of-23 from the floor and 5-of-5 at the foul line.
Junior John Ryan (William Tennent) had 12 points and nine rebounds in Penn State Abington’s 74-65 loss to Keuka College on Saturday. In Wednesday’s 78-59 win over Penn State Berks, Ryan led the way with 15 points. In last Saturday’s 78-59 win over Wells, Ryan had 13 points.
Freshman Ish Horn (Plymouth Whitemarsh) had four assists in East Stroudsburg’s 111-82 win at Bloomsburg.
Senior guard Matt Penecale (Abington) tallied a career-high 23 points to become the 29th Golden Ram in history to score 1,000 points in West Chester’s 91-74 win over Bloomsburg on Saturday night. The win was the team’s 11th straight. Three days after becoming the program’s all-time assist leader, Penecale became the fourth WCU men’s basketball player this season to reach the 1,000-point plateau. In Wednesday’s 70-58 win over the University of Pittsburgh-Johnstown, Penecale notched a game-high six assists and took over the top spot on West Chester’s all-time career assists leader. The six assists gave Penecale 456 dimes for his career, breaking the record of Ricky Hicks (’91). He also notched six points. In last Saturday’s 87-77 win over Shippensburg, Penecale dished out five helpers. In WCU’s 88-87 win over East Stroudsburg, Penecale split two free throws with eight-tenths of a second left on the clock to break an 87-87 tie and propel the Golden Rams to the win. Penecale also pulled down a team-high six rebounds to go along with 10 points.
Senior Zack Muredda (Pennridge) scored 10 points and also had five rebounds and five assists in Ursinus College’s 96-84 win over Haverford on Wednesday. In last Saturday’s 95-88 win over Dickinson, Muredda had 13 points. In the Bears’ 83-55 win over Muhlenberg, Muredda finished with eight points, four rebounds, four assists and four steals.
Anthony White (Cheltenham) scored 11 points in No. 5 IUP’s 102-53 win over Edinboro.
Evan Slone (Souderton) had 14 points and six rebounds in Arcadia’s 89-66 loss to Rosemont.
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
Bridgette Birkhead (Central Bucks East) contributed eight points and four rebounds in Mount St. Mary’s 61-45 win over LIU Brooklyn last Saturday. In Mount St. Mary’s 63-47 win over Fairleigh Dickinson, Birkhead had eight points.
Sophomore Maggie Rakowsky (Central Bucks West) scored a career-high 15 points in Catholic University’s 59-50 victory over No. 6 Scranton on Saturday. The CB West grad was 6-for-7 at the foul line and also had five rebounds, two assists, one steal and two blocks. In Catholic’s 83-58 win over Goucher, Rakowsky had seven points, four steals and two rebounds.
Junior forward Makenzie Mason (Central Bucks West) scored a game-high 15 points in the University of Scranton’s 70-42 win over Susquehanna on Wednesday. In Scranton’s 56-44 win over Drew, Mason posted a double-double with 11 points and a career-best 13 rebounds. The double-double was her fifth of the year, and she has scored in double figures in nine straight games and 16 games overall for the year. Mason also dished out four assists.
Sophomore Lexi Edwards (Central Bucks South) scored 10 points in Cabrini’s 66-42 win over Marywood on Wednesday. In last Sunday’s 91-74 win over Gwynedd Mercy, Edwards scored 11 points. In Cabrini’s 54-51 win over Marymount, Edwards had 11 points, three assists and two steals.
Sophomore Lizzie Oleary (Abington) notched a season-best 10 points and tied a career high with seven rebounds in the University of Delaware’s 70-59 win over William & Mary on Friday.
Jordan Vitelli (Central Bucks South) scored seven points in the final 2:15 to force overtime, including tying the score for the first time (57-57) with just 1:02 to go in regulation in No. 9 University of the Sciences 71-66 overtime win over Dominican on Saturday afternoon. Vitelli, who also connected on two free throws with nine seconds remaining in OT to seal the win, finished with 18 points, four rebounds and two steals. Irisa Ye (North Penn) also finished with 18 points, connecting on 7-of-11 field goals. She added six rebounds. Jess Huber (North Penn) was in double figures for the fourth time this season with 11 points off the bench, including a pair of three-pointers in overtime. Mikaela Giuliani (North Penn) had two blocks. In Wednesday’s 69-49 win over Georgian Court, Ye had 11 points, five rebounds, five assists and two blocks. Vitelli had seven rebounds. In Monday’s 56-42 win over Caldwell, Ye scored 20 points. It was her seventh outing with at least 20 points this season. She also led all players with five assists to tie a career high. Vitelli, who had three three-pointers, finished with 11 points and seven rebounds. In USciences’ 60-55 win over Goldey Beacom, Ye finished the game with 20 points, five rebounds, four steals, three assists and two blocks. Vitelli was the only other Devil in double figures with 14.
Nicole Munger (Central Bucks West) contributed eight points in the University of Michigan’s 90-81 win over Iowa on Friday. In Michigan’s 70-50 loss to Indiana, Munger scored 16 points, including an 8-for-8 showing at the free throw line.
Samantha Brusha (Abington) scored 13 points in Millersville’s 74-47 win at Mansfield on Saturday. She also had a game-high three steals, the seventh time this season she has led the team in steals. In Millersville’s 81-69 loss to Lock Haven, Brusha scored a team-high 18 points. It marked the fourth time this season Brusha was the team’s leading scorer. She shot 58.3 percent from the field (7-for-12), including 4-for-6 from beyond the arc. In the Marauders 78-63 loss to Kutztown, Brusha had 13 points and also had five rebounds.
Freshman guard Abbey Spratt (Central Bucks West) had a team-high five assists to go along with four rebounds and 10 points in Chestnut Hill’s 92-62 win over Wilmington University.
Junior Allison Chernow (Upper Dublin) scored 15 points in Emory’s 72-42 win over Brandeis University on Friday. The UD graduate went 6-of-16 from the floor in ringing up her eighth consecutive and 12th outing of the year with double figures. She also dished out six assists and grabbed nine rebounds, her second highest total of the year. In last Sunday’s 70-49 win over New York University, Chernow had 10 points and seven rebounds. In Emory’s home win over Brandeis, Chernow had 13 points, six rebounds and three assists. In Emory’s 56-51 win over Carnegie Mellon, Chernow had a team-high 16 points, which included four three-pointers. She also had eight rebounds, four assists and three steals.
Junior Alynna Williams (Plymouth Whitemarsh) scored 17 points while senior Erin Maher (North Penn) chipped in with eight rebounds and three steals in No. 2/4 Jefferson University’s 77-56 win over Wilmington (Del.) on Wednesday. In Jefferson’s 86-61 win over Caldwell, Williams scored 21 points and was 7-of-14 from the field, including 6-for-12 from three-point range. Maher returned from an injury and corralled seven boards.
Devan Rimmer (Pennridge) scored 15 points in Widener’s 70-29 win over Alvernia on Saturday. In Wednesday’s double overtime 65-63 loss to Lebanon Valley, Rimmer led the Pride with 21 points, going 11-of-13 from the free throw line. In the process, she played all 50 minutes in the game, the only player who did not take a breather in the contest. In last Saturday’s 97-57 win over Hood, Rimmer scored 13 points, including the 1,000th point of her career. Rimmer scored her milestone basket on the first field goal of the second quarter, taking the inbounds pass straight to the net. In Widener’s 61-40 win over Albright, Rimmer led the Blue and Gold with 23 points, connecting on 11-of-12 from the free throw line.
Taylor Dunn (Central Bucks South) scored 17 points in Arcadia’s 49-47 win over Albright on Wednesday. She also had four rebounds and two steals. In Arcadia’s 74-66 win over Lycoming, Dunn scored a game-high 19 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for a double-double.
Junior Lydia Konstanzer (Pennridge) registered her league-leading 10th double-double of the season with 10 points and 11 rebounds in Ursinus College’s 57-53 loss to Haverford on Wednesday. In last Saturday’s 77-61 win over Dickinson, Konstanzer matched her season best of 28 points in just 28 minutes of playing time, connecting on 13-of-19 shots from the floor.
Freshman Taylor O’Brien (Plymouth Whitemarsh) scored six points in Bucknell’s 77-43 win over Navy on Wednesday.
Cassidy Quattro (Hatboro-Horsham) had nine points in Washington College’s 66-61 overtime loss to Franklin & Marshall on Saturday. In Wednesday’s 71-39 win over Swarthmore, Quattro contributed 13 points, five rebounds, two blocks and two steals. In Washington College’s 87-50 win over Bryn Mawr, Quattro scored a career-high 20 points.
Junior Marissa Sandone (Souderton) hit twice from beyond the arc and scored a career-best 10 points in Gwynedd Mercy’s 91-74 loss at Cabrini last Sunday.
Gabbi Wright (Cheltenham) contributed 11 points off the bench and Taylor Thames (North Penn) had five points in Kutztown’s 66-55 victory at Lock Haven on Wednesday. In last Saturday’s 81-68 win over East Stroudsburg, Wright had nine points while Thames had five assists. In KU’s 78-63 win over Millersville, Wright had 11 points off the bench.
SOFTBALL
Drexel sophomore Sarah Tannenbaum (Upper Dublin) has been selected as a member of the Israeli National Softball Team. The UD alum will join the rest of the national team for the 2019 European Championships in hopes of qualifying for the Olympics in 2020. Stacy Iveson, University of Arizona Director of Operations, has been tabbed as the head coach of the team that will compete at the European Championships during the summer of 2019. Assisting Iveson with coaching duties will be Cal Lutheran Head Coach Debby Dan and Lisa Bernstein. All three played at Arizona. In order to play for Israel, the players are required to have at least one Jewish parent or grandparent and must travel to Israel to receive dual citizenship.
MEN’S SWIMMING & DIVING
Senior Tyler Chamberlin (Springfield Township) was part of the winning 200 medley relay that posted a time of 1:36.67 in Albright’s sweep of the Messiah Tri-Meet on Saturday. The Lions recorded a 205-49 victory over Misericordia and a 202-56 win over Messiah. Chamberlin also won the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:01.92.
Brad Johnson (Central Bucks West) was part of the winning 200 medley relay with a time of 1:29.73 in Penn State’s 175-110 win over Villanova on Friday. Bryce Hoch (North Penn) finished fifth in the 1-meter diving competition with a score of 264.07. He was fourth in the 3-meter with a score of 269.93.
Mark Preedy (William Tennent) was part of the winning 200 medley relay team that posted a time of 1:41.74 in Arcadia’s 210-29 win over Stevenson last Saturday. In Arcadia’s 126-37 win over Immaculata last Friday, Preedy broke a pool record in the 100 breaststroke, finishing with a time of 1:00.59 and surpassing the previous mark of 1:01.24.
IUP freshman Ryan Hartmann (North Penn) posted PSAC qualifying times in the 100 backstroke (55.44) and 400 IM (4:22.50 at the Pidgeon Memorial Invitational on Saturday.
Ridge Hagar (North Penn) won the 200 freestyle in come-from-behind fashion with a time of 1:48.68 in Messiah’s double-dual against Albright (56-202) and Misericordia (131-103). In Messiah’s 154-90 loss to York, Hagar claimed a pair of wins. The sophomore won the 50 freestyle with a time of 22.34, and he earned a come-from-behind win in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:00.05.
Senior Maxwell Coulter (Pennridge) was part of the winning 400 medley relay that posted a time of 3:34.88 in Ursinus College’s 152-103 win over Washington College on Saturday. Senior Travis Venables (Pennsbury) finished second in the 50 freestyle with a time of 22.21. In last Saturday’s 133-129 win over Franklin & Marshall, Coulter, finished second in the 200 breaststroke and was part of the second place 400 free relay (3:16.38). Freshman William Clift (William Tennent) finished first in the 1000 free with a time of 10:05.35, a PR by nearly 10 full seconds.
Shippensburg junior Jeff Beyer (Wissahickon) finished 11th and swam a new PR in the 50 freestyle (22.04) to highlight a day that included a third place finish in the 200 freestyle (1:43.96) and a fifth place finish in the 500 freestyle (4:41.92) at the Bison Invite on Saturday. Beyer was also part of the seventh place 200 free relay (1:27.51) and eighth place 200 medley relay (1:39.69).
Freshman Benjamin Van Meter (Springfield Township) finished sixth in the 200 freestyle in West Chester’s 196-100 loss to Penn last Saturday.
WOMEN’S SWIMMING & DIVING
Rachel Samson (Council Rock North) had a pair of top three finishes in Arcadia’s 170-84 win over Stevenson last Saturday. Samson was second in the 200 butterfly, touching the wall in 2:28.84. She was also second in the 100 butterfly (1:06.71). In Arcadia’s 115-35 win over Immaculata, Samson finished first in the 400 IM with a time of 4:59.00, and she was second in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:07.13.
Haley Sutton (Hatboro-Horsham) was part of the 200 medley relay that placed third with a time of 1:48.42 in Towson’s 174-118 win over Loyola University.
Freshman Stephanie Chell (Central Bucks East) was part of the winning 200 medley relay that posted a time of 1:51.31 in Ursinus College’s 157-101 victory over Franklin & Marshall last Saturday. Sophomore Katelyn Moore (Hatboro-Horsham) finished first in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:13.30, edging Chell’s second place time of 1:13.51.
Shippensburg senior Kara Killion (North Penn) placed fifth in the 1,650 freestyle at the Bison Invite on Saturday, finishing in 20:39.94. She also was 12th in the 100 back (1:15.90), 14th in the 500 free (5:53.02) and 19th in the 200 free (2:17.00). Olivia Guthy (Cheltenham) was sixth in the 200 breast (2:38.89), eighth in the 200 breast and 22nd in the 100 free (58.38). She also was part of the fifth place 200 medley relay (1:58.82). Natalie Wiley (Bensalem) was ninth in the 200 breast (2:49.33), 22nd in the 200 IM (2:40.05) and 29th in the 50 free (28.69).
La Salle senior Olivia DiStefano (North Penn) finished first in the 50 backstroke with a time of 27.82 at the Villanova Sprint Fest on Saturday.
Kutztown sophomore Alison McLaughlin (North Penn) picked up more than four seconds in recording a new season-best time of 5:31.19 to take second in the 500 freestyle at the East Stroudsburg Invitational on Saturday. In last Saturday’s dual victories over Millersville (165.5-92.5) and LIU Post (128-119), McLaughlin finished second in the 200 free (2:03.98) and 500 free (season-best 5:35.29).
Junior Sammy Grogan (Council Rock North) took the top spot in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:13.25 in Widener’s 169-93 win over Ramapo last Saturday. Lauren Griffith (Central Bucks East) was part of the 400 free relay that finished first with a time of 3:53.46.
Elizabeth Miller (Neshaminy) finished third in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:55.91 in West Chester’s 173-126 loss to Penn last Saturday.

Gettysburg sophomore Dylan McKeever (Central Bucks East) placed 10th in the 3,000m run at the Susquehanna University Challenge on Saturday. In last Saturday’s Franklin & Marshall Little Dip Invitational, McKeever finished fifth in the mile run with a time of 4:40.29.
Holy Family University freshman Sean Rahill (William Tennent) recorded the team’s best individual finish at the Frank Colden Invitational at Ursinus College on Saturday, placing 12th overall in the 5000m run. Rahill, running the event for the first time, finished in a time of 16:38.19. Sophomore MJ Powlowicz (Harry S Truman) recorded a personal best in the 400m dash, finishing in 55.47 seconds (28th).
Freshman Michael Welde (Council Rock North) was part of Saint Joseph’s winning 4x400m relay team that recorded a time of 3:17.20 at the Villanova Wildcat Invitational on Saturday. Junior captain David Bryant (Upper Dublin) covered the 60m in 7.15, good for 20th in a field of 32. The time matches his second fastest collegiate performance in the event. Bryant also finished 11th in a field of 35 in the 200m, crossing in a collegiate-best time of 22.33. He improved on his PR set just last weekend by .33 seconds and missed IC4As by just .09 seconds. Freshmen Kyle Magee (Central Bucks South) and Aidan Sauer (Pennsbury) were part of the 4x400m relay that finished first in a field of 11 with a time of 3:28.17. Sophomore Dan Mink (Pennsbury) was part of the 4×800 relay that finished first in a field of four with a time of 8:39.25. At last Saturday’s Penn State National Invitational, Welde was part of the DMR relay that won the title with a season-best time of 10:13.60. That time is second in the Atlantic 10. Freshman Javier Linares (Pennsbury) was part of the 4x400m relay that recorded a season-best time of 3:18.62 for seventh in a field of 14. Rookie Ben Bunch (Central Bucks West) was eighth in the 3000m with a time of 8:37.53, over a 10-second improvement from his debut on Jan. 4.
Gwynedd Mercy freshman Elijah Rizzo (Bensalem) hit an ECAC qualifying mark in the high jump at the NYU Division III Invitational while breaking a PR and setting a meet record with a top jump of 1.98 meters to win the event. Ahmir Johnson (Wissahickon) placed third in the event with a jump of 1.88 meters, which was a season best. Liam Davies (Wissahickon) bettered his own PR in the finals of the 60m hurdles, clocking in a time of 8.67 to finish second. He ran an 8.70 in the preliminaries. In last Saturday’s Bison Open hosted by Bucknell, Rizzo took second in the high jump with a top mark of 1.89 meters. Davies posted his second best time of the season in the 60m hurdles (8.87).
Ursinus sophomore Griffin McMann (Pennridge) tossed his way to sixth place in the shot put with a throw of 46-4.75 at the Frank Colden Invitational on Saturday. Junior Logan Mazullo (Central Bucks West) finished 22nd in the mile by posting a season best 4:43.43.
Shippensburg freshman Matt Lenahan (Hatboro-Horsham) was part of the ‘B’ quartet that posted a time of 3:22.58 in the 4x400m relay at the Sykes & Sabock Challenge Cup on Saturday. In the open 400 meters, Lenahan posted a time of 50.85 to improve upon his college best. Redshirt freshman Shamar Jenkins (Souderton) won the triple jump with a top mark of 47 feet, 10 inches to move into second on the conference leaderboard. He also led the Raiders in the long jump, finishing fourth on a top mark of 22 feet, 3 inches. At last Saturday’s Penn State National Open, Jenkins debuted in the long jump and achieved a conference cut on a top mark of 22-9 ¾. Jenkins qualified for the finals by achieving that top mark on his third jump and posted four jumps on the day of 21 feet or better. He placed ninth. Last Friday at the Penn State National Open, Jenkins made his college debut in the triple jump and hit a jump of 46 feet, 5 ½ inches.
Widener senior Sean Stovall (Springfield Township) won the 400m dash in a field of 14 runners with a time of 51.27 at the Seamus McElligott Invitational on Saturday. Matt Ludlow (Pennridge) won the long jump with a distance of 6.39 meters.
Chestnut Hill junior Aaron Morris (Springfield Township) was part of the eighth place 4x200m relay that posted a time of 1:40.12 at Ursinus College’s Frank Colden Invitational on Saturday. Senior Alex Nicolas (Neshaminy) finished 19th in the shot put with a throw of 10.91 meters.
West Chester freshman Orion Frazier (Abington) took home first place honors in the 400m dash with a PSAC qualifying time of 51.15 seconds at the DeSchriver Invitational hosted by East Stroudsburg on Saturday. Trenu Johnson (Council Rock South) registered a PSAC qualifying time in the 200m dash (23.38) to finish in third place.
Bloomsburg junior Owen Eisen (Pennridge) posted a jump of 6.13 meters, good for 11th place overall at the Youngstown State Mid-Major Invitational on Friday.

Gettysburg senior Danielle DeMichael (Central Bucks East) was part of the fourth place 4×800 meter relay (10:42.51) and sixth place 4x400m relay (4:32.07) at the non-scoring Susquehanna University Challenge on Saturday. In last Saturday’s Franklin & Marshall Invitational, DeMichael placed sixth in the 800m run with a time of 2:30.89. She also finished seventh in the mile, posting a time of 5:42.55.
Villanova sophomore Cala Lejman (Wissahickon) recorded a height of 3.40 in the pole vault at the Villanova Invitational on Saturday. At last Friday’s Dr. Sander/Columbia Challenge, Lejman recorded a height of 3.45.
Brianna Stratz (Central Bucks South) was part of Monmouth’s DMR team that shattered the school record by placing second with a time of 11:15.64 at the Dr. Norbert Sander/Columbia Collegiate Challenge last Saturday. This time breaks the school record by more than 10 seconds and was the second best time in the entire NCAA. Stratz also finished seventh in 800m run with a time of 2:09.84. Freshman Amber Stratz (Central Bucks South) finished fifth in the 1000m run with an ECAC qualifying time of 2:54.13 at the Penn State National Open.
Duquesne senior Shannon Taub (Council Rock South) set a new program record in the indoor pentathlon at the Penn State National Invitational last Friday. Taub recorded a score of 3,757, besting the previous record of 3,670 set in 2014. She posted a second place finish in the event. She paced the high jump with a mark of 1.67m to go with a second place showing in the shot put at 13.29m and a third place finish in the long jump, 5.54m.
Ursinus sophomore Rachel Coleman (Wissahickon) finished 10th in the 400 (1:03.32) and sophomore Michela Coleman (Wissahickon) was 13th in the 200 (27.68) at the Frank Colden Invitational on Saturday. In last Saturday’s Midwest Open in Geneva, Ohio, Michela Coleman established a new indoor personal best with a 1:01.77 in the 400, moving up to fourth on the Centennial Conference performance list. Her twin sister, Rachel Coleman, registered a PR of 27.32 in the 200m and elevated to eighth in the CC with an 8.36 in the 60m dash.
Shippensburg redshirt sophomore Dior Alston (Cheltenham) placed sixth in the 400m dash with a conference cut of 1:01.20 at the Bison Open at Bucknell last weekend. She also was part of the sixth place 4×400 relay (4:11.26).
Gwynedd Mercy senior Sara Gray (William Tennent) broke a meet record in the high jump at the NYU Division III Invitational on Friday, notching a season best with a top mark of 1.65 meters to finish third overall. Alyson Sharkey (North Penn) ran her season best in the 400 meters, clocking in at 1:04.70. In last Saturday’s Bison Open at Bucknell, Sharkey hit an ECAC qualifying mark in the 500 meters, clocking in a time of 1:26.81. She also recorded a PR in the 200 meters (28.87). Gray finished in a tie for third in the high jump as her top mark of 1.54 meters was her second-best effort this season.
Cara Jackson (Souderton) and Tara McLaughlin (North Penn) registered top five finishes at the DeSchriver Invitational at East Stroudsburg. Jackson finished third in the 200m while McLaughlin was third in the 3000m. In last Saturday’s Moravian College Indoor Meet, Caroline Dijiosia (Plymouth Whitemarsh) captured third in the 60m hurdles with a time of 9.50 seconds. She finished seventh in the long jump. Allison King (North Penn) finished third in the 400m race with a PSAC qualifying time of 1:01.
Bloomsburg sophomore Kathleen Stevenson (North Penn) had a PSAC qualifying time in the 60m dash and 200m dash at the Youngstown State National Mid-Major Invitational on Saturday. Stevenson broke the eight-second mark for the first time in her career in the 60m dash as she crossed the finish line in 7.98 to place 10th overall. She finished fifth overall in the 200m dash with a time of 25.92. Sophomore Jessica Brenfleck (North Penn) ran a personal best time in the 400 meter dash, crossing the finish line in a PSAC qualifying time of 1:01.30. Stevenson and Brenfleck were part of the third place 4×400 relay team (4:04.45). Junior Jessica Milligan (Pennridge) was part of the 4x400m relay that took seventh with a time of 4:14.76. On Friday at the Youngstown Invitational, Stevenson posted a PSAC qualifying jump of 5.42 meters to take third place in the long jump. In last Saturday’s Bison Open at Bucknell, Stevenson finished third overall with a distance of 5.44 meters. Stevenson and Brenfleck were part of the fifth place 4x400m relay with a time of 4:10.83.
East Stroudsburg freshman Taylor Allen (Pennsbury) placed fifth in the 55-meter dash with a time of 7.56 at the 20th Annual Dick DeSchriver Invitational on Saturday. In last Saturday’s John Covert Classic at Lehigh University, senior Victoria Collins (Abington) was part of ESU’s second place 4×400 relay (4:12.21).
MEN’S VOLLEYBALL
Brad Nase (Pennridge) had 42 assists and three aces in Messiah’s 3-2 win over Hunter College last Saturday. In Messiah’s 3-1 win over Misericordia, Nase dished out a team-high 24 assists.
WRESTLING
Gettysburg junior Colin Devlin (Upper Dublin) earned a major decision (14-4) at 149 in Gettysburg’s 29-20 win over Muhlenberg on Saturday. In last Saturday’s 29-12 loss to Washington & Lee, Devlin picked up a 6-0 decision at 149.
Top-ranked Jeff Reimel (North Penn) notched his 10th win, 5-0 over Anthony Williamson at 184 in No. 16 Kutztown’s 18-17 victory at Gannon last Saturday. In last Friday’s 23-14 win at No. 22 Mercyhurst, Reimel earned a 9-0 major decision at 184 to remain unbeaten on the year.
Junior Bruce Graeber (Neshaminy) earned an 8-4 decision at 285 in Bloomsburg’s 33-6 loss to Northern Illinois University on Saturday.
East Stroudsburg junior Collin Stevens (Central Bucks East) earned four wins at 174 in Saturday’s Messiah Open. In a first round match, Stevens earned a major decision (10-1) over Isaiah Collins (AIC) before dropping his second round match via fall. In the consolation round two, Stevens defeated Alfonso Pinto (TCNJ) via a 12-11 decision. In the consolation round three, Stevens defeated Malik Jackson (Millersville) via a 14-7 decision, and in the consolation round four, the CB East grad defeated Jonathon Borgognoni (TCNJ) via fall at 1:37. In the consolation round five, Stevens fell to Messiah’s Dan Swarr via a major decision (17-6).
Former Pennridge Teammates Konstanzer & Rimmer Excelling at Collegiate Level

Lydia Konstanzer and Devan Rimmer, 2016 Pennridge grads, have been making
their presence felt on as well as off the basketball court for close to a dozen years.
Most recently, the former high school teammates surpassed the 1000-point plateau for their respective college women’s basketball teams, and both did it within two weeks of each other.
Lydia accomplished the feat on Saturday, January 11, 2019 for the Ursinus College Bears, joining her older sister Carolyn as one of 15 players in school history to eclipse the significant milestone (http://www.ursinusathletics.com/sports/wbkb/2018-19/releases/20190112npmb3d).

Rimmer and Konstanzer started playing basketball as part of the Deep Run youth intramural basketball program back in the second and third grades. They first became teammates on an ICBA travel basketball team for Deep Run in sixth grade.
The Pennridge girls’ basketball coach at that time, David Martin, saw the potential in them as well as some of their fellow teammates, so he asked those younger players to join in with some of the high school team’s activities. During the summer before their seventh grade year, he asked them to attend a team camp as part of the JV squad that attended.
During their middle school years, they continued to participate together on the Deep Run travel team and with the HS at team summer camp. They only faced off as opponents as part of their respective middle school teams – Lydia for Pennridge Central Middle School and Devan for Pennridge South Middle School.
When both reached high school as freshmen, they were swing players starting on the JV team and receiving significant playing time during the varsity games. Although the Pennridge girls’ varsity only would win three games the 2012-2013 season, a winning JV season and their overall play indicated what the future could hold.
As sophomores, both were starters on a young varsity squad that would improve to eight wins. Devan would be given Honorable Mention Suburban One League (SOL) Continental honors. Their junior and senior years would bring the first back-to-back winning seasons for Pennridge in over five years (since the 2007-2008 and 2008-2009 seasons). The Rams also qualified for the District 1 playoffs for the first time since the 2009-2010 season.
The pair would receive SOL All-Continental Conference honors in both their junior and senior years (Lydia 3rd team as a junior, 1st as a senior and Devan 2nd team as both a junior and senior). Lydia and Devan would be the best pair of players Pennridge would have produced since Jordan Dominic and Sam Simonosis who played 4-5 years prior, and they would do this in the SOL Continental Conference which arguably has been one of the toughest conferences for girls basketball in the State of Pennsylvania during the past 8-10 years.
Both players decided to continue their playing careers in college. Lydia elected to attend Ursinus College where both her older siblings attended and graduated; her older sister Carolyn played basketball from 2007-2010. Devan chose to go down to Chester and play for Widener University.
As freshmen, both made immediate impacts to their programs and were Rookies of the Year in their respective conferences for the 2016-2017 season. Devan was MAC Commonwealth Rookie of the Year in addition to receiving Honorable Mention honors while leading her team and being in the top five of her conference in scoring. Lydia, the Centennial Conference Rookie of the Year, led her team in scoring, rebounding, field goal percentage, and foul shooting percentage plus was in the top 10 in each category in her conference. She also was named conference player of the week twice and received second team all-conference honors as well as recognized as D3hoops.com Mid-Atlantic Region Rookie of the Year.
Both would continue to be major contributors to their teams in their sophomore year. Devan was third leading scorer for Widener and helped them improve their record by three games over the previous season. Lydia led her team in scoring, rebounding, field goal percentage, and steals and was in the top five of the Centennial Conference in all those categories (she was conference leader in steals). She helped Ursinus reach the conference playoffs for the first time in six years and was awarded second team all-conference honors again.
This year as juniors, Lydia again leads her team in scoring, rebounding, field goal percentage, and steals and is in the top 10 in each category in her conference, including being the leader in steals. She was recently a Centennial Conference Player of the Week and remains a key part of an Ursinus squad that has equaled its win total of last year with a fifth of their regular season remaining and a likely repeat appearance in their conference playoffs.
So far, Devan has led her Widener squad to a 16-win total, which is four more than the previous season with four games remaining. Her 19.5 scoring average not only leads her team but also the entire MAC Conference and is in the top 30 in all of Division III women’s basketball in the country. She was recently named the MAC Commonwealth Player of the Week and is critical to Widener’s efforts to make the MAC Commonwealth playoffs for the first time in five years.
With the remaining portion of their junior year and an entire senior season still to come, assuming both continue on a similar pace and barring any significant missed time, Devan and Lydia have the potential to become a part of their school’s top five leaders in career points. Lydia also has other career top five statistics in reach, including rebounds, field goals, and steals.

Their efforts away from basketball far exceed any of their impressive accomplishments on the court. While in high school, both of them were excellent students and near the top of their class academically. They continue this academic excellence in college – each was named a member of their conferences’ respective academic honors their sophomore year. Devan is a Biology/Pre-Physical Therapy major and was named to the MAC Academic Honor Roll. Lydia is a Biology major with a Biostatistics minor and was on the Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll.
Both players also were very willing participants with the activities of the Pennridge girls’ basketball team. One program run by the team during the basketball season was called “Shooting Stars,” an extracurricular program through Deep Run’s youth athletic association that was geared towards working with special needs children by having them work on motor skills using basketball drills. Both were also “fan favorites” as volunteer camp counselors during a weekly basketball camp put on by the team each summer for the younger girls in the Pennridge school district. Either player could have had up to a few dozen young girls wanting to hang around them before, during, and even after the camp day, whether it was during drills or just eating lunch together. The impact they made on those kids, whether they were to become future players or not, was invaluable. In addition, Devan also made herself available as a referee for Deep Run’s intramural basketball program on available Saturday’s after early morning practices. Lydia’s Ursinus bio shows her Involvement in Best Buddies, Emerging Leaders Academy, and BASE on campus plus being a member of Brownback Anders Pre-Health Society.
