BASEBALL
Matt Reinert (Souderton) tripled and scored on an errant pick-off throw in Wilkes University’s 12-11 win over Houghton College in Fort Pierce, Fla., last Saturday. He also drove in a run. In Wilkes 5-3 loss to Dominican, Reinert singled and scored. In the Colonels’ 11-9 loss to Eastern Nazarene College, Reinert was 2-for-4 with an RBI and run scored.
Mike Christy (North Penn) was 2-for-4 with four RBIs and a run scored in Elizabethtown’s 12-8 win over Catholic on Saturday in game two of a twinbill split. In Elizabethtown’s 9-2 win over Penn State Behrend, Christy had a pair of hits.
Junior Shaun Stackhouse (Council Rcok South) doubled and scored a run in Cabrini’s 7-6 win over Gwynedd Mercy in game two of a doubleheader sweep on Saturday.
DeSales University sophomore Ian Kacergis (Pennridge) was named the MAC Freedom Pitcher of the Week for the week ending March 10. The Pennridge graduate earned the win in DeSales’ 11-8 victory over UMASS-Dartmouth, pitching seven strong innings and allowing three runs on six hits while striking out 10.
Dan Klepchick (Central Bucks South) fired seven solid innings in Monmouth University’s 9-3 win over George Mason on Saturday. The CB South graduate’s six strikeouts tied a season high in his longest outing of the season. Danny Long (Pennridge) doubled and scored a run. In last Sunday’s 11-3 win over Maryland Eastern Shore in a twinbill split, Long was 2-for-5 with an RBI and two runs. In last Saturday’s 3-0 win over Maryland Eastern Shore, Klepchick picked up his first win since his Rookie of the Year campaign a season ago, allowing two hits while striking out three and walking none in five shutout innings.
Senior outfielder Brett Guaglionona (Abington) was 2-for-4 in Penn State Abington’s 6-1 loss to Clark University on Saturday.
Sophomore Jake Jones (Neshaminy) was 4-for-4 with two doubles, a home run, RBI and four runs scored in Eastern University’s 17-3 win over Chatham University in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
Carter Usowski (Central Bucks East) was 1-for-2 with three runs scored and a walk in Ursinus College’s 11-7 loss to Rhode Island College in game one of a twinbill split Saturday in Kissimmee, Fla. Jerry Scavone (Neshaminy) contributed a sacrifice fly. In the Bears’ 5-0 win over Rhode Island College later in the day, Eric Gross (Central Bucks South) was 2-for-3 with an RBI and run scored. In the Bears’ 14-1 win over Curry, Usowski went 2-for-4 with three runs scored and a stolen base. In the Bears’ doubleheader sweep of SUNY Poly, Scavone drove in two runs in each game. In the Bears’ 9-8 win over Gordon in 10 innings, Scavone was 2-for-4 with an RBI and run.
Senior Timothy Brodhag (William Tennent) was 3-for-4 with two home runs, four RBIs and two runs in Jefferson University’s 10-5 win over Salem (West Virginia) on Saturday. In Jefferson’s 17-5 win over Salem in game two of the doubleheader sweep, Brodhag was 2-for-5 with a double, home run, walk, RBI and three runs scored. In Friday’s 10-7 loss to Salem, Brodhag was 3-for-4 with a double, walk and run. In Wednesday’s 10-7 loss to Le Moyne, Brodhag was 3-for-4 with two RBIs. In last Sunday’s 12-9 loss to Pace on the final day of the DII Challenge vs. Cancer in Cary, N.C., Brodhag was 2-for-5 with a double, two RBIs and a run. In a loss to LIU Post later in the day, Brodhag doubled and drove in a run. In Jefferson’s 9-5 loss to Findlay, Brodhag was 2-for-3 with a triple and run.
Jason Mulvey (Bensalem) was 5-for-10 with a home run and four RBIs and Nick Mulvey (Bensalem) recorded four hits in Gwynedd Mercy’s doubleheader sweep at the hands of Cabrini on Saturday (6-7, 6-7). In game two Dave Tatoian (Pennridge) had a pair of hits. In a pair of victories on the final day of the team’s trip to Winter Haven, Fla., Nick Mulvey recorded three hits, two RBIs and three runs scored. Evan Miller (Harry S Truman) added a pair of hits and two RBIs. In Gwynedd Mercy’s 6-4 win over King’s, rookie Cameron Culver (Harry S Truman) earned his first collegiate win on the mound, throwing five innings and allowing just three earned runs on five hits with four strikeouts and two walks.
Redshirt senior Greg Paprocki (Council Rock South) threw four scoreless innings, allowing only a leadoff single in the fourth, and earned the win in La Salle’s 7-4 win over Delaware State on Wednesday. He struck out six.
Dylan Morrissette (Souderton) walked twice and scored both times he was on base in Widener’s 11-3 victory against Neumann on Tuesday. In Widener’s 4-2 victory over Muhlenberg on its final day of its Florida trip, Morrissette tripled and drove in a run.
Mason Nadeau (North Penn) drove in a run in Penn State’s 7-3 win over Pitt on Tuesday. In last Sunday’s 11-5 win over the University of Central Florida, Nadeau was 1-for-2 with a solo home run and two runs scored.
Sophomore Andrew Dietz (Central Bucks South) played a significant role in Chestnut Hill’s sweep of Mansfield University on Saturday. The CB south grad knocked in two runs in a 5-3 win in the opener and then pitched six strong innings to earn the win in game two, a 10-3 win. Dietz allowed just one hit and three runs (all unearned) while striking out four and walking two. Junior Zach Szumigala (Pennsbury) was 2-for-2 with an RBI and two runs. In Friday’s 3-1 loss to Mansfield, sophomore Billy Bethel (Pennsbury) allowed just four hits and three runs (one earned) in nine solid innings. He struck out four and did not walk a batter. In Chestnut Hill’s 7-6 loss to Palm Beach Atlantic on the team’s spring break trip to Florida, Dietz was 2-for-3 and knocked in three of the Griffins’ runs. In the Griffins’ 4-1 victory over Stonehill College, Dietz scattered five hits and one run over five innings to earn his first collegiate win.
Senior Jared Melone (North Penn) had a hit and one RBI in No. 10 West Chester’s 3-1 win over Goldey-Beacom on Sunday. In Saturday’s 6-3 win over Goldey-Beacom, Melone was 2-for-4 with a double, RBI and run scored. Jon Fisher (Plymouth Whitemarsh) earned the victory on the mound, allowing four hits and one run while striking out three in five innings. In Wednesday’s 17-5 win over defending national champion Augustana, Melone and sophomore Justin Horn (Upper Dublin) combined for eight hits and eight RBIs. Melone, who entered the game as the NCAA DII active career leader in batting average (.414), was 4-for-5 with a double, four RBIs and one run while Horn was 4-for-6 with a triple, four RBIs and three runs scored. In Monday’s 8-2 win over Minnesota Duluth, Melone and Horn both notched two RBIs. Melone paced the offense with four hits while Horn had two RBIs with three hits. In last Saturday’s 8-2 win over Winona State, Melone hit a solo home run in the first inning while Horn connected on a two-run homer in the sixth. Fisher earned his first victory of the season after holding Winona State to zero runs on six hits with six strikeouts in 6.2 innings pitched.
Sophomore Andrew Mayhew (Pennridge) threw the final four innings to earn the save in Millersville’s 10-6 win over Seton Hill on Saturday. He allowed two hits and one run while striking out six and walking only one. In last Saturday’s 11-6 win over Goldey-Beacom in game two of a twinbill sweep, Noah Hartwell (Council Rock North) picked up his first career win, allowing just one hit and no runs in 1.1 innings of relief. He struck out three. Mayhew closed it out with 1.2 scoreless innings, allowing two hits while striking out one.
Redshirt junior Tom Nuneviller (Pennridge) was 2-for-2 after entering the game as a pinch hitter in East Stroudsburg’s 10-1 loss to Saint Anselm on Saturday. In Friday’s 11-7 win over Clarion, freshman Justin Guidos (Quakertown) earned the win after getting the Warriors out of the sixth inning and keeping Clarion off the scoreboard in the seventh and eighth innings. In ESU’s 5-0 loss to LIU Post in Cary, N.C., Guidos scattered a pair of hits through 3.1 innings in relief while recording four strikeouts.
Cole Swiger (Upper Dublin) was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored and Colton Hooker (Upper Moreland) was 1-for-3 with a double and two runs scored in Bloomsburg’s 7-4 win over Virginia State in game on of a doubleheader sweep Wednesday.
MEN’S BASKETBALL
Shaw University junior Amir Hinton (Abington) has officially announced to ESPN that he will declare for the 2019 NBA draft. The Abington graduate, who is hoping to become the first Division II player to be drafted since 2005, is projected 49th in the ESPN top 100. Hinton’s season ended March 2 when the Bears lost to Virginia State in the CIAA Tournament championship game. He had 34 points, five rebounds, three assists and five steals, playing in front of 12 credentialed NBA scouts. Hinton led Division II in scoring, posting 29.4 points per game during the 2018-19 season where he also captured the 2019 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Player of the Year honors while making first team All-CIAA, All-Tournament and leading the Bears to their third consecutive division title and runner-up finish in the conference championship. Khalil White (Cheltenham) and Justin Sutton (Cheltenham) are both members of Penn State Wilkes-Barre’s basketball squad that defeated Johnson and Wales 86-64 in the USCAA Division II national championship game. White scored three points.
Catholic University senior Andre Mitchell (Plymouth Whitemarsh) was named to the 2018-19 Landmark Conference Winter Academic Honor Roll. The honor roll recognizes student-athletes who have reached sophomore academic standing and own a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or higher.
Kutztown University senior Anthony Lee (Abington) was named to the All-Atlantic Region first team. It is the
second All-Atlantic region recognition for Lee and his first time on the first team after earning second team honors last year. He also was named to the PSAC first team and was the conference’s East Division Athlete of the Year. A three-time PSAC East Athlete of the Week winner this season, he has been a member of the All-PSAC teams each of his four seasons at KU. Lee, a two-year captain, closed out his career at KU second all-time and fourth in PSAC history in career points (2,292), first in three-pointers made (275), second in field goals made (773), third in steals (200) and free throws (471), eighth in rebounds (656) and blocks (102) and ninth in assists (324). Lee holds school records for points in a game (50) and season (822), scoring average for a season (27.4), three-pointers made in a game (8), season (92) and career (275), three-point percentage in a season (.516) and career (.468) and free-throw percentage in a season (90.1). His average of 19.4 points per game through his four years ranks fourth all-time at KU. Lee was a seven-time PSAC East Athlete of the Week honoree throughout his career.
Lee recorded his first career triple-double in Kutztown’s season-ending 92-79 loss to East Stroudsburg in a PSAC quarterfinal contest. Lee finished with 21 points, 11 rebounds and a career-high 10 assists. He also added two blocks and one steal and never left the court, playing all 40 minutes. It is the first triple-double for Kutztown since 2009. In KU’s 86-70 opening round win at Millersville, Lee had 26 points, 14 of which were from the free throw line.
West Chester senior Matt Penecale (Abington) was named to the All-PSAC second team. His senior year will
go down as one of the most impressive of any player in program history. The guard’s historic run started on Jan. 30 when Penecale handed out six assists in a victory over Pitt-Johnstown to push the Abington graduate into the No. 1 spot on West Chester’s all-time career assists. Less than a week later, Penecale scored a career-high 23 points against Bloomsburg and became the 29th Golden Ram in history to reach the 1,000-point milestone. Penecale averaged 9.5 points and 4.5 rebounds while his 4.1 assists were tops on the team and his 2.5 assist/turnover ratio stands as the best by any individual in the PSAC this year.
Penecale scored a team-high 17 points in West Chester’s 74-65 loss to top-seeded IUP in the opening round of the NCAA Atlantic Regional Championship on Saturday. His 7-for-7 effort at the charity stripe marked the third straight game he’s been perfect from the free throw line. Appearing in his final collegiate game, Penecale leaves West Chester as the program’s all-time career assists leader (500) and No. 2 on WCU’s all-time career free throw percentage list (.869). In last Saturday’s 90-69 loss to No. 2 IUP in the semifinals of the PSAC championship, Penecale had a team-high 10 rebounds. In West Chester’s 89-72 win over Shippensburg in the PSAC quarterfinals, Penecale had 13 points.
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
University of Scranton junior guard Makenzie Mason (Central Bucks West) was named to the D2hoops.com Second Team All-American squad. Mason led the Lady Royals to their fourth straight Landmark Conference
championship as well as the program’s first NCAA Tournament Final Four appearance since 2006 and a 29-3 overall record. Mason was recently named the D3hoops Mid-Atlantic Player of the Year while collecting All-Region laurels from the site for the second year in a row. She was also named the Landmark Conference Player of the year while capturing First Team All-Landmark Conference honors for the second consecutive season. She started all 32 games for Scranton and led the Lady Royals in all the major statistical categories. She averaged a team-high 14.0 points and 7.6 rebounds per game while also pacing Scranton with 100 assists, 53 blocks and 28 assists. One of the top shooters in the country, Mason posted a 52.3 field goal percentage while going 39.0 percent from three-point range and 83.1 percent from the free throw line. Mason reached double figures in scoring in 26 of Scranton’s 32 games on the season and went over 20 points in four contests, including a career-high 29 points in an 84-54 win over Moravian in the Landmark Conference semifinals. She also reached double figures in rebounding on nine occasions with a career-best 18 rebounds in a 69-46 victory at Goucher in the Lady Royals’ regular season finale. Mason totaled nine double-doubles on the season, including three in the postseason. She also reached double figures in six of Scranton’s seven playoff games. The CB West graduate was named to the Landmark Conference Winter Academic Honor Roll, which recognizes student-athletes who have reached sophomore standing with a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or higher.
Mason contributed 18 points and seven rebounds in ninth-ranked Scranton’s 69-56 loss to top-ranked Thomas Moore in the 2019 NCAA Division III National Semifinals on Friday. In last Friday’s 44-40 win over Tufts in the 2019 NCAA Division III Sectional Finals, Mason nailed the biggest shot of her career, sinking a three-pointer with 2:52 remaining to trim Tufts’ lead to 40-38. Mason finished with a game-high 14 points and seven rebounds. In Scranton’s 57-56 win over Christopher Newport, Mason scored 18 points and also pulled down 10 rebounds. She also had three assists, three blocks and two steals.
Ursinus junior Lydia Konstanzer (Pennridge) earned second team All-Mid-Atlantic Region from D3hoops.com.
Konstanzer, who became the first regional rookie of the year in program history two years ago, added to her list of accolades as just the Bears’ second D3hoops.com all-region honoree. The Pennridge graduate was a dominant force inside in securing first team All-Centennial Conference honors and leading Ursinus to the conference semifinals for the first time since 2007. She nearly averaged a double-double at 15.1 points and 9.3 rebounds per game, ranking fourth in the league in rebounding and sixth in scoring. The Bears’ all-time leader in double-doubles, Konstanzer paced the CC in total rebounds and finished second in steals (57), field goals (160) and offensive rebounds, third in defensive rebounds (148), fourth in points (408) and sixth in both blocks (28) and field goal percentage (45.1). In the Bears’ 57-38 rout of Muhlenberg in the opening round of the CC playoffs, Konstanzer had 19 points and 16 rebounds. The Pennridge graduate also was named to the Centennial Conference Winter Academic Honor Roll. To be selected, a student athlete must be a sophomore or higher in class standing and carry a cumulative GPA of 3.40 or higher.
Mount St. Mary’s sophomore Bridget Birkhead (Central Bucks East) helped put a scare into Robert Morris in the NEC semifinal hosted by RMU on Thursday. Birkhead hit a three-pointer from the corner with 30 seconds left to make it a two-point game after coming back from down 15 with a minute left in the third quarter. Birkhead finished with nine points in the Mount’s 69-65 loss. In two playoff games, Birkhead averaged 11.5 points and 3.5 rebounds while playing 35 minutes per game. The CB East graduate has been a Deans List student all three semesters at The Mount. In Monday’s 80-74 quarterfinal win over St. Francis Brooklyn, Birkhead scored 14 points.
Widener University junior Devan Rimmer (Pennridge) was named second team All-Mid-Atlantic Region by
D3hoops.com. Rimmer becomes the first Widener D3hoops.com all-region honoree since 2014. The Pennridge graduate was named to the MAC Commonwealth first team and was a four-time conference player of the week. She led the league in scoring at 19.6 points per game and three-point percentage at 40.3 percent, also ranking in the top 25 nationally in both categories. Additionally, she was fifth in the MAC Commonwealth in free throw percentage (79.7) and eighth in field goal percentage (43.6). Rimmer put her name in the record books with 550 points, the most in the NCAA era for Widener and the second most in program history. Her 56 three-pointers made are third best in a single season for the Pride. Her 136 free throws made are fourth. She also became the 12th player in team history with 1,000 or more points and the 10th with 100-plus three-pointers. Widener finished the season 20-8, the second most wins in program history and advanced to the ECAC Division III quarterfinals.

The University of the Sciences sophomore Irisa Ye (North Penn) was named to the All-Central Atlantic Collegiate first team. The All-CACC accolade adds to a list of honors she has earned this year that includes USBWA Division II National Player of the Week, CACC Student-Athlete of the Month, CoSIDA Academic All-District Team and CACC Player of the Week. She is atop the conference with a 55.8 field goal percentage while ranking fourth at 16.1 points per game. She is also fourth in free throw percentage (83.3), 3-point percentage (42.1) and free throws made (120). In addition to leading USciences in those five categories, Ye also paces the Devils in assists per game (2.8), steals per game (1.4) and free throw attempts (120).
University of the Sciences junior Jordan Vitelli (Central Bucks South) earned All-CACC third team honors. It is her first All-CACC honor. She ranks third on the team at 10.0 points per game despite only averaging 20.9 minutes. Her 3.7 three-pointers per 40 minutes is second in the CACC while her 19.2 points per 40 minutes is 10th. She is second on USciences in both three-pointers per game (1.9) and three-point percentage (36.2), ranking in the top 12 of the CACC in both.
Ye scored 25 points on 8-of-10 shooting in USciences 63-56 loss to Le Moyne in Saturday’s NCAA Tournament second-round matchup. She was a perfect 3-of-3 on three-pointers to break the program’s NCAA era single-season scoring record with 561 points. She also moved into fifth in the program’s single-season annals in field goals made and seventh in free throws made, ending the night with 195 and 133, respectively. Vitelli was the only other Devil in double figures with 14 points on 5-of-7 shooting. Michaela Giuliani (North Penn) recorded a career and game-high six assists while blocking a shot to finish the season with 45, tied for seventh in the program’s single-season history. In Friday’s 46-41 win over NYIT in an opening round NCAA Tournament game, Ye scored 13 of her game-high 19 points after halftime. Vitelli contributed eight points. Giuliani made her first career start and led all players with a career-best four steals in just 19 minutes. In last Sunday’s 74-73 loss to Jefferson in the CACC championship game, Ye led all players with 20 points and five assists to go along with seven rebounds. She was 7-of-10 from the free throw line. Giuliani recorded her first career double-double with 12 points and a career and game-high 10 rebounds. She also blocked three shots. In USciences 70-54 win over Caldwell in the CACC semifinals, Ye and Vitelli each made 6-of-6 free throws en route to 22 and 14 points respectively, the game’s two highest point totals. Jess Huber (North Penn) had 10 points off the bench, and Giuliani came off the bench to record five rebounds, three assists, two steals, one point and one block. In USciences quarterfinal CACC win over Felician, Ye led the way with 25 points, 19 of which came in the first half. She also had four rebounds, four assists, two steals and a block. Vitelli had 19 points and a career-best nine rebounds. Ye (9-of-10) and Vitelli (10-of-12) combined to go 19-of-22 from the line. Huber contributed seven points and a career-best three blocks off the bench.
Jefferson University junior Alynna Williams (Plymouth Whitemarsh) was named to the All-Central Atlantic
Collegiate Conference second team. The Rams’ point guard was third in scoring (14.4 ppg), assists (2.5 apg), assist/turnover ratio (1.5) and steals (1.5). She was a double-digit scorer 19 times out of 25 games played. Williams shot 42.6 percent (126-for-296), including 41.4 percent (58-for-140) from three. She was an 85.0 percent shooter (51-for-60) from the foul line. The two-time All-CACC honoree registered season highs of 29 points, six assists and five steals. She ranked first in the conference in free throw percentage, fifth in three-point field goal percentage, eighth in scoring, ninth in three-pointers and 13th in assist/turnover ratio. Williams notched her 1,000th career point versus Post on Jan. 12. She was a member of the weekly honor roll twice.
Williams contributed 16 points, six rebounds, three assists and two steals in Jefferson University’s 86-77 loss to Stonehill Friday in the NCAA East Region quarterfinals. Senior Erin Maher (North Penn) chipped in with five points, four rebounds, three assists and three steals. In last Sunday’s 74-73 overtime win over the University of the Sciences in the CACC title game, Maher recorded a double-double with 12 points, 13 rebounds, two blocks and one assist. She scored a game-tying three with 1:09 to go. Maher was named to the All-CACC Tournament Team. In Saturday’s 80-56 win over Goldey-Beacom in a CACC semifinal, Williams tallied 17 points while Maher pulled down 11 rebounds and added six steals, five assists, four points and two blocks. In Jefferson’s 74-50 quarterfinal win over Post, Williams scored 14 points.
Taylor Thames (North Penn) posted nine points, four rebounds and three assists, and Gabbi Wright (Cheltenham) had seven points in Kutztown’s 72-57 loss to No. 14 IUP in the PSAC championship game last Sunday. The Golden Bears finished their campaign as PSAC East co-champions, their first division championship since 1996, and also earned the program’s first ever trip to the conference finals. In KU’s 67-62 win over nationally-ranked (No. 21) California University of Pennsylvania, Thames had 12 points and four rebounds while Wright contributed 10 points, two rebounds, two steals and two blocks.
Samantha Brusha (Abington) scored 15 points on 6-of-8 shooting (75 percent) in Millersville’s 77-69 loss to West Chester in the opening round of the PSAC Tournament. She was 3-for-5 from beyond the arc and pulled down five rebounds. It is the 10th time she scored in double figures this season.
MEN’S LACROSSE
Cabrini senior Riley White (Plymouth Whitemarsh) was named the Atlantic East Conference Men’s Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending March 3. White anchored the Blue and White’s defensive effort as No. 7 Cabrini scored a pair of road victories. The senior goaltender posted seven saves in the Cavaliers’ 18-17 win at Hampden-Sydney before tallying a season-high 14 stops to lead Cabrini to a 14-8 win at No. 9 Dickinson.
White collected his seventh victory of the season after posting eight saves in Cabrini’s 14-6 victory over previously unbeaten Whittier College on Saturday. In Wednesday’s 20-6 victory over Ohio Wesleyan, White recorded seven saves and five ground balls in 45 minutes of action. Nick Werner (Central Bucks West) was credited with three ground balls and two caused turnovers. In Cabrini’s 17-5 win over No. 13 Ithaca, White anchored the defense with nine saves and five groundballs.
Michael Sowers (Upper Dublin) reached the 200-point milestone for his career in Princeton’s 19-10 loss to Penn on Saturday. He did it in his 34th career game, which is by far the fastest of any Princeton player to get there. He finished with a goal and two assists and now has 81 goals and 119 assists in his career. Sowers is the seventh player in program history to reach the 200-point mark. In last Saturday’s 12-11 loss to Rutgers, Sowers finished with two goals and three assists. In Princeton’s 19-11 win over Navy, Sowers had two goals and seven assists.

Kate Ziegler (Pennridge) contributed four goals, two assists, seven draw controls, four groundballs and three caused turnovers in Elizabethtown’s 21-11 win over Neumann on Saturday. In Wednesday’s 17-10 loss to Albright, Ziegler had five goals. In last Saturday’s 21-11 win over Alvernia, Ziegler had two goals, three assists, four draw controls and six groundballs. In Elizabethtown’s 20-16 loss to Chapman, Ziegler had six goals, three assists and six groundballs.
Courtney Dietzel (Central Bucks South) contributed a goal in Drexel’s 10-6 victory at UMBC on Saturday. In Wednesday’s 13-7 win over Manhattan, Dietzel netted a goal. In last Saturday’s 13-9 loss to Villanova. Dietzel contributed a goal and an assistant.
Senior Melissa Felicetti (Upper Moreland) scored three goals and added two assists in Penn State Abington’s 20-9 loss to Rutgers-Camden on Thursday. Freshman goalkeeper Cheyanne Grumm (Upper Moreland) faced almost 40 shots but was able to make 12 saves.
Senior attacker Francesca Donato (Neshaminy) had two goals and an assist in St. Joseph’s 9-7 win over Delaware on Saturday. In Wednesday’s 17-9 loss at Towson, Donato had three assists while Sam McGee (Abington) had two goals. In last Saturday’s 16-12 win at Lafayette, Donato had two goals and an assist and McGee had a goal and an assist. In the Hawks’ 17-11 loss to No. 17 Johns Hopkins, Donato had three goals and an assist while McGee added a goal and two assists. Freshman Sophia Kolkka (Plymouth Whitemarsh) added a goal.

Sophomore Gabby Acker (Hatboro-Horsham) scored the first two goals of her career in Temple’s 16-10 loss at No. 7 James Madison on Saturday. Sophomore Jen Rodzewich (Pennridge) had a goal and an assist. In Tuesdays’ 12-9 loss to Boston University, Rodzewich contributed a goal and an assist. Senior Amber Lambeth (Souderton) collected a game-high seven draw controls. In Temple’s 16-12 win at UMBC, Lambeth notched a hat trick while Rodzewich had two goals and an assist. In Temple’s 13-10 win at La Salle, Rodzewich contributed two goals, a team-high six groundballs and a team-high five caused turnovers.
Gwynedd Mercy sophomore Victoria Braeunle (North Penn) was named to the Atlantic East Conference Honor Roll for the week ending March 3. Braeunle led the lacrosse team with nine points in the team’s 19-16 win over Delaware Valley as she tied a personal best with a game-high seven goals and added two assists. She also contributed 10 of the team’s 21 draw controls and had a caused turnover and two ground balls. Braeunle also earned a spot on the honor roll for the week ending March 10. The North Penn grad led her team in three categories for the week with seven groundballs, six caused turnovers and 15 draw controls.
Braeunle had six points on five goals and an assist as well as eight draw controls in Gwynedd Mercy’s 26-14 loss at Goucher College on Saturday. In Wednesday’s 22-11 loss to DeSales, Braeunle had seven points on four goals and three assists. In last Friday’s 16-2 win over Sweet Briar, Braeunle had seven draw controls, four caused turnovers and three groundballs while scoring a pair of goals and adding an assist. The game was halted with 8:50 left in the second half as snow was accumulating.
Sophomore Maddie Dachowski (Pennridge) scored five goals and assisted on another for a six-point day in La Salle’s 17-15 road win over Radford on Tuesday. In last Saturday’s 12-11 loss to Marist, Dachowski had three goals. In La Salle’s 13-10 loss to Temple, Dachowski had a short-handed goal as well as an assist.
Krysta Reading (Central Bucks East) scored four goals and also had two assists and six groundballs in Lock Haven’s 24-9 win over Caldwell on Thursday.
Mikayla Bowman (North Penn) had two goals and an assist in Kutztown’s 17-10 loss to IUP on Saturday. In Tuesday’s 14-12 loss to Brockport, Bowman contributed two goals, one assist and two groundballs. In KU’s 19-2 win over Holy Family, Bowman contributed a first-half hat trick.
Maggie Stella (Central Bucks East) collected a hat trick, Emily Schulze (North Penn) contributed two goals and two assists and Devan Mela (Council Rock North) had two goals and one assist in No. 4 West Chester’s 17-3 win over Slippery Rock on Saturday. In Tuesday’s 20-4 win over Catawba, Stella had two goals and two assists. In West Chester’s 10-9 loss to top-ranked Le Moyne, Stella collected a hat trick while Mela added a single goal.
SOFTBALL
Elizabethtown junior Alyssa Wilkinson (Quakertown) was named the Landmark Conference Pitcher of the Week for the week ending March 3. The Quakertown graduate earned her first win of the year in her first start for the Blue Jays. Wilkinson shut down Rosemont over five innings, only allowing one run and four hits in Elizabethtown’s 10-1 win. She struck out four batters.
Wilkinson earned the complete game win in Elizabethtown’s 2-1 win over Penn State Harrisburg on Wednesday. The junior hurler retired the side in order in the fifth and sixth innings and did not allow a hit over the final three innings she pitched to get her second win of the season.
Jackie Bilotti (North Penn) had two of her team’s three hits in Arcadia’s 1-0 loss to Salve Regina on Friday in Kissimmee, Fla. In Tuesday’s 3-1 win over William Patterson, Bilotti led the team with two hits and two stolen bases.
Spenser Gray (Quakertown) was 2-for-4 with a run scored in UNC-Charlotte’s 7-5 loss to Marshall on Saturday. The Quakertown graduate extended her active hitting streak to four.
Morgan Gianelli (Cheltenham) was 2-for-4 with a double in Marist’s 3-1 win over Bryant in the Charleston Invitational. It was her third multi-hit game of the season.
Becca Dougherty (Council Rock South) drove in five runs and Jackie McMenamin (Upper Dublin) had four RBIs in Penn State Abington’s 14-0 win over Rosemont in a doubleheader split on Wednesday. In a 7-6 loss in game two, Mary Kate Smith (Springfield Township) was 4-for-4 with one RBI and a run scored, and Stephanie Andreoli (Council Rock South) was 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Senior Danielle Hebling (William Tennent) singled and scored a run. On the final day of the Fastpitch Dreams Classic in Myrtle Beach, S.C., Dougherty was 2-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and two runs scored, and Andreoli was 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs. Contributing one hit each were Hebling (2 RBIs), McMenamin (RBI, run) and Smith. In the Nittany Lions’ 12-1 win over Waynesburg University, Dougherty earned the win, allowing three hits and one run while striking out four and walking none in six innings. At the plate, Dougherty doubled, drove in a run and scored a pair. Hebling delivered a three-run triple and finished the day 2-for-4 with five RBIs and three runs scored. Andreoli was 2-for-4 with an RBI and run scored. McMenamin singled and scored a run. In the Nittany Lions’ 6-4 loss to Wentworth, McMenamin was 2-for-4 with a double, Dougherty, who doubled and drove in a run, absorbed the loss. She struck out six and became the program’s all-time leader with 195.
Junior Jennifer Hammons (Springfield Township) tossed a strong game in Ursinus College’s 2-1 loss to Clarkson on Saturday in the team’s final game in Kissimmee, Fla. She allowed six hits and struck out a career-high eight. Her only blemish over five innings was a two-run homer in the second.
Jovanna Alfonsi (North Penn) was 1-for-2 with two walks and two RBIs in Jefferson University’s 5-4 win over Merrimack on Monday in Kissimmee, Fla. Alfonsi drew a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the seventh to plate the winning run.
Junior Meghan Klee (Quakertown) reached base seven times in Shippensburg’s doubleheader sweep at Seton Hill (5-3, 3-2), going 5-for-6 with two walks, an RBI, a stolen base and a run scored. In last Sunday’s doubleheader sweep at Glenville State (10-6, 13-0), Klee totaled four hits on the day. She was 4-for-7 with a double, walk, sacrifice fly and three RBIs.
Chelsea Briggs (Bensalem) was 2-for-3 with a two-run home run and two runs in Gwynedd Mercy’s 7-6 loss at Widener on Saturday. Rebecca Christoffers (North Penn) contributed an RBI single. On day three of Gwynedd’s spring break trip to Myrtle Beach, S.C., Christoffers scored four times and hit a home run for the second day in a row. In Gwynedd’s 7-6 loss to King’s, Briggs went 3-for-4 with four RBIs and Christoffers smacked a solo home run.
Freshman Natalie Rios (Neshaminy) recorded a double in three at-bats and scored one in La Salle’s 3-1 win over Army in Clearwater, Fla., on Saturday. In Friday’s 9-6 win over Brown, Rios was 3-for-5 with three RBIs and two runs scored, and freshman Audrey LaBouliere (Central Bucks East) was 2-for-3 with two RBIs, two runs and a stolen base. In Sunday’s 6-2 loss to UNC-Wilmington, Rios hit a two-run double. In a 3-1 loss to Presbyterian later in the day, Rios singled and drove in La Salle’s only run. In last Saturday’s 9-4 loss to Cleveland State, LaBouliere was 2-for-3 with a run scored. In La Salle’s 5-4 win over Georgetown, LaBouliere was 1-for-2 with two runs scored and a walk.
Jamie Gosselin (Abington) had four hits and four runs scored in Widener’s doubleheader sweep on the final day of the team’s trip to Kissimee, Fla. Sydney Powell (Neshaminy) earned her second win of the year, allowing five hits and three runs in five innings in Widener’s 5-3 win over St. Joseph’s College. In Widener’s twinbill split on day two of the Florida trip, Gosselin had four hits, four stolen bases, four runs scored and three RBIs. Powell picked up her first win of the season in Widener’s 17-10 win over Concordia-Moorhead College.
Amber Brugger (Neshaminy) started in the circle and threw five scoreless innings in Kutztown’s 2-0 win over Le Moyne in Clermont, Fla., on Friday to close out THE Spring Games. She scattered six hits and struck out two. Sara Keeny (William Tennent) delivered a sacrifice fly to plate a run in the second inning. She logged just two official at-bats due to a sacrifice fly and a walk and saw her 20-game hitting streak halted. The Tennent graduate had hit safely in KU’s first 17 games this season and the last three of the 2018 season. She tied Krista Cameron (2008) for the program’s second-longest hitting streak since 1994. The record of 25 consecutive games was set during the 1994 season. In KU’s 3-1 win over Northwood later in the day, Cheyenne Jones (Harry S Truman) contributed a two-run single. In KU’s doubleheader split on Thursday, Keeny nabbed her 100th career stolen base and concluded the day with four hits and two RBIs, which included a two-run triple in KU’s 13-2 win over Salem. Jones had three hits on the day. In Wednesday’s twinbill split, Keeny had a pair of hits and Jones had three RBIs. In Tuesday’s 10-6 win over Charleston, Keeny and Jones both went 3-for-4. Jones had three RBIs and Keeny had two runs scored. In KU’s 7-6 loss to Concord later in the day, Keeny and Jones both had three hits, including a double and two RBIs by Jones. On KU’s opening day sweep of Pitt-Johnstown (8-0) and IUP (10-8), Keeney had a hit in each game and also scored three runs to up her career total to 124, which is tied for 10th all-time in program history. In the win over Pitt-Johnstown, Jones had two hits. Brugger threw a scoreless inning.
Brianna Battavio (North Penn) was 1-for-3 with two runs scored in Millersville’s 8-7 loss to Merrimack on the final day of the Florida spring break trip on Friday. In Wednesday’s 11-2 loss to Slippery Rock, Battavio had a pair of hits while Devon Masciulli (Neshaminy) doubled and drove in a run. In Tuesday’s 9-5 win over Concord, Battavio, who was 2-for-4, pounded a grand slam. In the Marauders’ 3-1 loss to Fairmont State, Masciulli was 3-for-3 with one RBI. In last Sunday’s 6-2 loss to Mount Olive College, Masciulli hit her first collegiate home run. Masciulli and Battavio both went 2-for-3 with one RBI.
Sophomore Marissa Govan (William Tennent) had three RBIs in East Stroudsburg’s doubleheader sweep of Franklin Pierce on Saturday. In ESU’s split with Virginia State last Sunday, Govan had four hits, three RBIs and two stolen bases across the two contests.

West Chester junior Emma O’Neill (Abington) was 14th in the 1650 at the 2019 NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving Championships on Saturday at the IU Natatorium on the campus of IUPUI in Indianapolis, Ind. On Friday, O’Neill earned an All-America certificate for finishing sixth in the 500 free in a time of 4:52.95. She also was part of the eighth place 800 free relay. On Thursday, Lizzy Miller (Neshaminy) was part of the sixth place 400 medley relay team that earned All-America status. On Wednesday, O’Neill won the consolation race of the 1,000 free to pick up her third honorable mention All-America certificate in as many years. It is the first time she has done it in the 1,000. She touched the wall in 10:07.84. Miller was part of the 10th place 200 medley relay that posted a time of 1:42.64.

In the best Villanova finish in the mile in 40 years, junior distance runner Casey Comber (Hatboro-Horsham)
came in second in the NCAA Championships with a time of 4:08.03 at the Birmingham Crossplex last Saturday. He used an incredible closing kick to surge through the pack of 12 runners and give the Wildcats their highest individual finish at the NCAA Championships since 2003. This is the second straight year that Comber will be a first team All-American for the indoor track and field season. He anchored Villanova’s eighth place finish in the distance medley relay last year to earn his first career All-America accolade. Comber is now a three-time All-American overall, including the two indoor honors as well as an All-American finish in cross country this past fall.

Saint Joseph’s junior captain David Bryant (Upper Dublin) ran the fastest 200m time – indoor and outdoor – of his collegiate career (22.13 PR) at the Villanova Invitational. Michael Welde (Council Rock North) ran the fastest 200m of his rookie season (22.34 PR) at the Fastrack Invitational. The junior/freshman pair ranks eighth and ninth, respectively, on SJU’s top 10 performers list.
Shippensburg redshirt freshman Shamar Jenkins (Souderton) earned second team All-America honors for his performance at the 2019 NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships held at Pittsburgh State University. Jenkins achieved his best triple jump on his third and final attempt, landing a mark of 48 feet, 2 ¾ inches (14.70 meters), He posted the fifth best mark in the opening flight. Jenkins was the first Raider to compete at the NCAA Indoor Championships in men’s triple jump since 2016. For the season, Jenkins finishes as an All-America second teamer after being named the 2019 PSAC Indoor Championships Outstanding Field Athlete, earning conference titles in both the long and triple jump.

Monmouth senior Brianna Stratz (Central Bucks South) closed out her final indoor season at the IC4A Championships with a fourth place finish in the 800 meters with a time of 2:08.76. Allison Taub (Council Rock South) earned All-East honors after finishing seventh in the shot put with a mark of 47’11.25”.
Ursinus sophomores Michela Coleman (Wissahickon) and Rachel Coleman (Wissahickon) each garnered a pair of All-Centennial Conference honors, earning first team recognition after winning gold in the 4×200 and second team recognition for a runner-up finish in the 4×4000.

Kutztown senior Stephanie Bresadola (North Penn) earned a PSAC qualifying mark in the 800m with a time of 2:22.56 on the final day of the 49er Classic on Saturday. On Friday, Bresadola earned a qualifying mark of 4:59.71 in the 1500m.
East Stroudsburg junior Barbara Grossov (Quakertown) secured a PSAC qualifying mark in the shot put with a throw of 38-9, which placed her 15th in the field at the Charlotte 49er Classic on Saturday. Senior Victoria Matthews (Abington) placed fourth in the high jump with a height of 5-0 ¼.

Brad Nase (Pennridge) dished out 31 assists and Marshall Nixon (Pennsbury) had six kills in Messiah’s 3-0 victory over Wilkes on Friday. In Wednesday’s 3-2 win over Penn State Altoona, Nase had 40 assists and Nixon had four kills and three blocks. In last Saturday’s 3-1 loss to Rutgers-Newark, Nase had 23 assists and five kills while Nixon had four stuff blocks. In the Nittany Lions’ 3-0 win over Wilson College, Nixon had eight kills and Nase contributed 26 assists.
WRESTLING
Kutztown senior Jeff Reimel (North Penn), ranked No. 1 at 184, entered last Saturday’s NCAA DII Championships with national championship aspirations, but he ran into Michael Pixley of McKendree in the semifinals. Pixley scored a takedown and four-point nearfall in the first minute and led 10-3 after a period. Pixley went on to win the match and the national title. Reimel, who finished as an All-American in 2018 with a fifth place finish at 184, dropped his consolation semifinal to Pitt-Johnstown’s Brock Biddle, 15-13, in overtime. Reimel took sixth in the weight class after a medical forfeit of the fifth-place match but still earned his second straight All-America honor. Reimel ended the season 18-2. Earlier, Reimel earned a 4-1 decision over Southwest Minnesota State’s Griffin Osing in the quarterfinals, and in round one, he pinned UNC-Pembroke’s Brandon Sloop in 2:58.
