BASEBALL
York College junior pitcher Randy Frankenfield (Wissahickon) was named the Capital Athletic Conference
Pitcher of the Week for the week ending March 20. Frankenfield threw a gem in returning to the Spartan rotation after dealing with an injury as he tossed six shutout innings in the Spartans’ 8-0 CAC win over St. Mary’s. The Wissahickon graduate struck out six, walked two and only allowed one hit during his outing. He didn’t allow the hit until there were two outs in the top of the sixth. Frankenfield retired the first 10 hitters he faced before walking a batter in the fourth. For the year, Frankenfield is 1-0 with a 2.12 ERA in 17 innings of work. He has struck out 17 and walked six as opponents are hitting .238 against him. He has made three starts for the Green and White.
Monmouth University junior pitcher Ricky Dennis (Central Bucks South) was named a Louisville Slugger
National Player of the Week and also was named the MAAC Pitcher of the Week for the week ending March 20. Dennis took a perfect game into the seventh inning and a no-hitter into the eighth against 17th-ranked East Carolina, eventually tossing eight shutout innings of one-hit ball to earn his second win of the year against a ranked team. He struck out six and walked just one in the win.
Dennis was stellar in Monmouth’s 6-0 win over Rider in game one of a doubleheader sweep on Saturday, tossing a complete game one-hit shutout to earn his third win of the year. He fanned five and walked one. In Monmouth’s 5-3 win in the nightcap, freshman Joe Molettiere (Pennridge) locked it down with two shutout innings to earn his third save. In Thursday’s 8-4 win over Rider, sophomore Justin Andrews (Neshaminy) threw a scoreless ninth inning in relief. In Wednesday’s 5-4 win over Hofstra, Molettiere threw a perfect ninth to earn the save.
Freshman Nick Ponente (Council Rock South) singled in a run in Arcadia’s 6-5 loss at Franklin & Marshall on Tuesday.
Colton Hooker (Upper Moreland) was 1-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs in Northampton’s 10-2 win over Onondaga in game two of a doubleheader sweep on Saturday. In Wednesday’s 8-4 win over Brunswick at the Ripken Experience in Myrtle Beach, Hooker was 1-for-4 with a home run. In Tuesday’s 4-1 loss to Elgin Community College, Hooker was 2-for-4. In Monday’s 10-4 win over the College of Southern Maryland, Hooker hit a grand slam.
Junior right fielder Cory Capaldi (Souderton) had two hits, knocked in a pair of runs and scored another in Pace University’s 13-1 win over Southern Connecticut State in game one of a doubleheader sweep Saturday. In Pace’s 4-3 win in 14 innings in game two of the twinbill, Capaldi was 2-for-3 with an RBI. In Friday’s 1-0 shutout of Southern Connecticut, Capaldi was 1-for-3 with a double and scored the game’s only run. In last Sunday’s 16-5 win over Dominican, Capaldi knocked in three runs with a bases loaded triple in the sixth inning.
Ryan Kelly (Hatboro-Horsham) earned the win in St. Joseph’s 6-5 victory over Richmond in the rubber game of a three-game set on Saturday. The Hatboro-Horsham graduate allowed one hit and fanned two while walking none in 2.1 innings to close out the game. In Thursday’ 7-3 win over Richmond, Kelly entered the game with two outs and a runner on board in the ninth inning and fanned the first batter he faced to seal the win.
Senior Steve Wright (Council Rock South) stroked a pair of hits and drove in a pair of runs in Gettysburg’s 14-3 win over Penn State Altoona in game one of Saturday’s twinbill sweep. In Gettysburg’s 10-0 win in the nightcap, Wright doubled and scored two runs. In Gettysburg’s 14-2 win over Penn State Mont Alto on Friday, Wright had a pair of hits.
Sophomore Brennan Snyder (Central Bucks West) contributed a two-run double in Elizabethtown’s 18-14 loss to Scranton on Wednesday.

Senior first baseman Patrick Campion (Norristown) knocked in the only run in Chestnut Hill’s 1-0 win over St. Rose in game one of a twinbill on Saturday. In Friday’s 4-3 loss to St. Rose, Austin DiBonaventure (Plymouth Whitemarsh) provided two innings of scoreless relief, allowing only one hit while striking out one. In Tuesday’s 9-7 loss to No. 3 Millersville, junior Brandon DiBona (William Tennent) was 2-for-5 with three runs scored and one RBI. Campion knocked in two runs.
Redshirt junior Casey Saverio (Hatboro-Horsham) was 3-for-5 with two RBIs and two runs scored in 11th-ranked East Stroudsburg’s 13-0 win over Kutztown in game one of Thursday’s doubleheader split. Redshirt junior Conner Crookham (Hatboro-Horsham) was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. In Wednesday’s 15-7 win at Philadelphia University, Crookham was 2-for-4 with a home run, three RBIs , two runs and two sacrifice flies. Saverio was 2-for-4 with a double, walk, sacrifice fly, RBI and run scored.
David Blount (Harry S Truman) went 3-for-4 with three runs scored, two RBIs and a stolen base in Gwynedd Mercy’s 34-10 loss to 11th-ranked Salisbury on Thursday. Blount recorded his 100th career hit with a leadoff single in the fourth inning. Jason Mulvey (Bensalem) was 3-for-4 with a pair of RBIs while Shaughn Wright (Pennsbury) notched his first career home run, a leadoff shot in the fifth, and finished the day 2-for-3. Dave Tatoian (Pennridge) was 1-for-3 with one RBI. In Wednesday’s 7-3 loss to Swarthmore, Mulvey was 1-for-3 with a walk and personal best three stolen bases.
Freshman left hander David Drea (Central Bucks South) scattered four hits in six-plus innings of scoreless work in Ursinus College’s 4-2 win over Penn State Brandywine on Friday afternoon. Drea held the Nittany Lions down until the seventh when the home side loaded the bases with just one out. He was relieved by sophomore Matt Radwanski (Central Bucks South), who slammed the door on that potential threat. The Nittany Lions scored a pair of unearned runs in the ninth. Drea was credited with the win while Radwanski earned the save. Freshman Carter Usowski (Central Bucks East) was 2-for-4 with an RBI and run scored.
Joey Nieves-Markee (Bensalem) was 2-for-3 in Cairn University’s 11-2 win over Penn State Brandywine in game one of a doubleheader sweeper. In Cairn’s 7-2 win in game two, Nieves-Markee was 3-for-3 with a triple and stolen bases.

Trey Guaglionona (Abington) doubled and scored the game’s only run on a groundout to the right side by Max Perilstein (Cheltenham). Max German (Council Rock North) had two of the Nittany Lions’ three hits in the win. In Friday’s 3-0 win over the City College of New York in game one of a twinbill sweep, Guaglionona delivered a two-run double. Matt Meyers (Cheltenham) drove in the first run. In the Nittany Lions’ 8-3 win in game two, German collected his first home run of the season. Anthony Pletscher (North Penn) doubled and scored a run.
Greg McDonough (Wissahickon) hit a two-run home run in the first inning of Widener’s 3-0 win over Arcadia in game one of a doubleheader sweep on Saturday. In Tuesday’s 11-4 win over Swarthmore, McDonough singled and scored.
Cody Stoneback (Quakertown) earned the save in third-ranked Millersville’s 9-7 win over Chestnut Hill on Tuesday. The win was the Marauders’ 19th in a row.
MEN’S BASKETBALL
Senior captain Ryan Arcidiacono (Neshaminy) scored 13 points on his 22nd birthday in Villanova’s 64-59 upset of top-seeded Kansas on Saturday night in the South Region final. His free throws sealed the win, and teammates and fans serenaded him by singing “Happy Birthday” during the on-court celebration. The Neshaminy graduate earned a spot on the all-region team. Villanova will face Oklahoma in the Final Four in Houston next Saturday. In Thursday’s 92-69 win over Miami in a South Region semifinal, Arcidiacono delivered 21 points while converting 7-of-11 shots from the floor.
Temple senior forward Jaylen Bond (Plymouth Whitemarsh) earned second team All-Philadelphia Big 5 honors. Bond, the captain of Temple’s NCAA Tournament team, averaged 10.3 points per game and a team-high 8.5 rebounds per game. The PW graduate posted his 11th double-double of the season, 14 points and a game-high 15 rebounds in his final game against Iowa. In his two years at Temple after transferring from Texas, he scored 586 points and grabbed 541 rebounds.
FIELD HOCKEY
Fourteen student-athletes on the Bryant University field hockey team were named to the 2015 ZAG Field
Hockey/NFHCA Division I National Academic Squad, including freshman Marissa Elizardo (North Penn), who was named to the 2015 ZAG Field Hockey/NFHCA Collegiate Scholars of Distinction. The North Penn graduate qualified as a scholar of distinction by achieving a cumulative GPA of 3.90 or higher through the first semester of the 2015-16 academic year. Elizardo appeared and started in 17 games in net for the Bulldogs, totaling over 1,130 minutes in the cage. She accumulated 91 saves, including five in her first career shutout against Sacred Heart, and Elizardo recorded her first career double-digit save effort in a single game (10) at Dartmouth. She closed out the year with a .645 save percentage.

Michele DeVincent (Upper Dublin) was credited with five ground balls and two caused turnovers in California’s 10-9 overtime win over San Diego State last Sunday.
Cortnee Daley (Hatboro-Horsham) contributed three goals and one assist in No. 6/7 Louisville’s 15-9 win over Virginia Tech on Saturday afternoon. In Tuesday’s 11-7 win over Cincinnati, Daley scored a goal and finished with a team-high four ground balls and three caused turnovers.
Sophomore Allison Fugate (Pennridge) and freshman Kyra Shank (Souderton) each scored two goals while goalkeeper Ally Frymoyer (Upper Merion) finished with a season-high 13 saves in Shippensburg’s 18-7 loss to No. 6 Lock Haven on Wednesday. In Saturday’s 17-5 loss to IUP, Fugate and Shank each scored a goal while Frymoyer had six saves and was credited with three ground balls in the one half of action.
Chessie Rahmer (Souderton) scored a goal while junior Lauren Green (North Penn) added an assist in East Stroudsburg’s 14-10 win at Gannon on Saturday. In Tuesday’s 22-4 win over Wilmington, Rahmer had two goals and two assists, and Green added a pair of goals.
Freshman Makayla Bowman (North Penn) notched her second hat trick of the season with a team-high three goals in Kutztown’s 16-9 loss to ninth-ranked West Chester on Wednesday.

Hagan has moved into a tie for second all-time in career turnovers (66) at St. Joe’s. Graduate student goalkeeper Ashley Alden (Williams Tennent) turned away five shots in her first collegiate appearance between the pipes in relief.

Sophomore designated player Bridget Hunt (Harry S Truman) contributed an RBI single in Binghamton’s 9-3 win over Maryland on the final day of the Maryland Invitational last Sunday.
Lauren Klepchick (Central Bucks South) doubled and singled to extend her hitting streak to four games in the University of Rhode Island’s 4-0 loss to George Mason in game two of a doubleheader split on Saturday. After not having an extra-base hit through her first 14 games of the season, Klepchick has doubled in three straight games. In URI’s 2-0 win over George Mason in game one of the twinbill, Klepchich doubled to set up the game’s second run. In Thursday’s 4-2 win over Harvard, Klepchick collected a double.
Koraima Dudley (Neshaminy) had two hits and scored three runs in Delaware Valley’s 7-4 win in game two of Thursday’s doubleheader sweep of Wilkes University. In last Saturday’s doubleheader against FDU-Florham, Dudley was 5-for-7 with one RBI and two runs scored.
Junior Julia Schoenewald (Central Bucks East) was 1-for-3 with an RBI in Brown’s 6-4 loss to Miami (Ohio) on the final day at the College of Charleston Invitational last Sunday.
Senior Haileigh Stocks (Central Bucks South) contributed an RBI double in Robert Morris University’s 3-1 win over Penn State in the opening game of a doubleheader on Wednesday at Beard Field at Nittany Lion Softball Park. The win was the third in two weeks against a Big Ten opponent. It marks the first time in program history that the Colonials have defeated three distinct Big Ten foes in the same season. Stocks’ double tied her for the team lead with six and gave her 31 in her career.
Lauren Creamer (Neshaminy) doubled and drove in a run in Susquehanna’s 4-3 win over Juniata in game two of a doubleheader sweep on Friday. In Thursday’s 8-2 win over Dickinson in game one of a twinbill split, Creamer had a pair of hits. In Susquehanna’s 2-0 loss in game two, Creamer had two of her team’s six hits.

Maria Spinosa (Hatboro-Horsham) and Hallock both singled and scored a run. In the Marauders’ 3-2 win in game two, Lutz was 2-for-4 with two doubles and two runs scored, and Hallock was 2-for-4 with a triple and run scored. In Tuesday’s 9-0 win over Bowie State in game one of a doubleheader sweep, Hallock was 4-for-4 with a double, RBI and run scored while Lutz was 3-for-5 with three RBIs. Spinosa was 1-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored, and Morgan Yoder (Souderton) was 1-for-1 with a run scored. In Millersville’s 6-3 win in game two, Spinosa was 2-for-4 with a run scored while Hallock was 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles and one RBI.

Penn sophomore Jeff Wiseman (Council Rock South) finished first in the
400-meter dash (48.25), and senior Drew Magaha (Upper Moreland) won the 800-meter run (1:51.36) at the Penn Challenge on Saturday. Magaha also was part of Penn’s winning 4×400 relay that posted a time of 3:17.95. Penn won the team title.
IUP sophomore Austin Cooper (Upper Merion) posted a PSAC qualifying mark in the 1500m run (4:03.50) at California’s Early Bird Invitational on Saturday.
Lock Haven sophomore Julien Freeman (Harry S Truman) finished third in the triple jump with a PSAC mark of 43-09.75, and he added a fifth place finish in the long jump (20-07.00) at the Jim Taylor Invitational hosted by Susquehanna University. Lamier Dodson (Bensalem) finished eighth in the hammer throw with a PSAC toss of 149-06.
Kutztown sophomore Brandon Raguz (Central Bucks South) posted his first NCAA provisional mark of the outdoor season in the pole vale with a career best 15-7.25 as he won the pole vault at the West Chester Open on Saturday. He also met the NCAA provisional threshold of 4.76m and broke into KU’s top 10 in the event. Raguz now ranks ninth all-time in school history in the pole vault. Redshirt sophomore Anthony Bullaro (Pennsbury) posted two existing PSAC marks and won the 100m and 400m hurdles. He crossed the finish line in the 110m hurdles in 15.41 seconds and won the 400m hurdles with a time of 55.42 seconds. Ron Smith (Neshaminy) and Jhaloni Johnson (Springfield) were part of the winning 4×100 relay that crossed the finish line in 42.58 seconds. Chris Varichione (Quakertown) won the hammer throw with an existing PSAC mark of 164-10. Smith placed second in the 400m dash with a PSAC qualifying time of 49.92 seconds. He also was fourth in the 200m dash with a time of 23.10. Khalid Weems (Upper Dublin) finished third in the 400m dash with a time of 50.45.

Shippensburg freshman Jackie Kinkead (Central Bucks East) posted a PSAC qualifying time in the 1500m run (4:55.32) at Richmond University’s Fred Hardy Invitational on Friday. On Saturday, Allison King (North Penn) and Lindsay Sheehan (Pennridge) were part of the 4×100 relay team that finished third with a time of 48.23. Sheehan was part of the 4×400 relay that posted a time of 4:00.19 and finished fourth. Kinkead and Carolyn Meier (Upper Dublin) were part of the 4×800 relay that finished second and crossed the finish line with a time of 9:50.38. Sheehan was fifth in the 100 with a PSAC qualifying time of 12.55, and King was eighth with a PSAC qualifying time of 12.72.
Moravian sophomore Beth Ann Davies (Quakertown) finished fifth in the pole vault at 3.10 meters (10-2) at the Lafayette College 7-Way Meet on Saturday.

MEN’S VOLLEYBALL
Christian Lizana (Pennridge) contributed five kills and four digs in No. 10 Vassar College’s 3-1 win over No. 9 Elmira College on Saturday to clinch a berth in the 2016 United Volleyball Conference Tournament. In Vassar’s 3-2 loss to New Paltz in the nightcap on Saturday, Lizana had five kills and nine digs. In Wednesday’s 3-0 sweep of York College (NY), Lizana posted nine kills on 11 attempts and also had a pair of aces.
Andy Willits (North Penn) had 15 kills and Micah Godshall (Souderton) added 11 in Cairn University’s 3-1 win over Lancaster Bible College on Wednesday. In Tuesday’s 3-0 loss to No. 5 Rutgers Newark, Godshall led the team in kills with 11 while Willits had six.
