BASEBALL
Senior Matt Hollenbeck (Hatboro-Horsham) threw the first six innings of Georgetown’s 8-5 win over Lipscomb University on Friday, allowing five runs on six hits while striking out two.
Senior Jason Goldberg (Central Bucks East) improved to 2-0 on the season, earning the win on the mound in Arcadia’s 3-2 win over Messiah on Friday. He finished the game with five strikeouts.
Freshman Justin Andrews (Neshaminy) threw four innings and allowed just an unearned run in Monmouth’s 5-4 win over Manhattan on Saturday.
Junior Daniel Chou (Wissahickon) had three hits and an RBI in Caltech’s 23-7 loss to MIT on Thursday.
Robert Knox (Upper Moreland) was 2-for-4 with four RBIs in West Chester’s 10-8 win over Kutztown in game one of a doubleheader split on Tuesday. In Monday’s 6-2 win over Kutztown in game one of a twinbill sweep, Dylan Tice (Pennridge) hit a solo home run, his fourth of the season, and finished the day 2-for-4 with a pair of RBIs. In West Chester’s 6-3 win in the nightcap, Knox finished 1-for-3 with a pair of RBIs.
Max German (Council Rock North), Pat Fitzgerald (Central Bucks South) and Anthony Pletscher (North Penn) all had a pair of RBIs in Penn State Abington’s 15-12 loss to Stevenson on Sunday.
Andrew Check (Central Bucks West) earned the save on the mound and also had a base hit in Eastern University’s 4-3 win in game two of a doubleheader split with Wilkes University on Friday.
Joey Nieves-Markee (Bensalem) had one hit with an RBI and run scored in Cairn University’s 4-3 loss to Gwynedd Mercy in game one of a doubleheader. In Wednesday’s 8-3 win over Baptist Bible College, Nieves-Markee picked up the win on the mound. In Cairn’s 6-1 win in game two of the doubleheader sweep, Nieves-Markee made a diving grab and threw to second base for the double play.
Jon Mullin (Central Bucks South) was 2-for-3 with a stolen base in Messiah College’s 3-2 loss to Arcadia on Friday.
Ryan Henritzy (Council Rock North) was 3-for-4 with a run scored in Lock Haven’s 4-3 loss to Bloomsburg last Monday.
Centerfielder Greg McDonough (Wissahickon) contributed two hits and three RBIs in three at-bats in Widener’s 13-0 win over Arcadia on Monday.
Steve Hatala (William Tennent) fanned a career-high five batters in 3.2 innings of relief in Philadelphia University’s 5-4 loss to Post on Saturday.
David Blount (Harry S Truman) was 3-for-3 with two RBIs and three stolen bases in Gwynedd Mercy’s 6-1 win over Cairn in the second game of a doubleheader sweep on Saturday. Brett Kozlowski (William Tennent) was 2-for-4 with two runs scored. In Gwynedd’s 4-3 win in game one, Jason Mulvey (Bensalem) singled and scored while teammate Chris Hens (Hatboro-Horsham) had an RBI double, and Blount was 1-for-3 with an RBI and run scored. In Friday’s 11-0 win over Cairn, Hens had a pair of hits, including a two-run double. He finished with three RBIs and a run scored. Blount had a pair of hits, an RBI and run scored.
Senior rightfielder Matt Hanson (Central Bucks West) had a pair of hits in both ends of Moravian’s doubleheader sweep of Elizabethtown on Sunday. Moravian won game one 3-2 in 10 innings and took the nightcap 3-0. In Moravian’s 8-7 win over New Jersey City University on Friday, Hanson was 3-for-5. In Moravian’s 6-2 win over Scranton on Wednesday, Hanson was 2-for-5.
Robert Slagle (Plymouth Whitemarsh) was 3-for-4 with two RBIs and Brandon DiBona (William Tennent) was 2-for-3 with a run scored in Chestnut Hill’s 6-5 win over Caldwell University in game two of a doubleheader sweep on Saturday. In Chestnut Hill’s 3-0 win in game two of a doubleheader sweep of Lincoln University on Wednesday, freshman rightfielder Patrick Kelley (Central Bucks West) contributed a two-run single, and Patrick Campion (Norristown) singled, stole a base and scored a run. In Chestnut Hill’s 7-2 loss to Millersville on Tuesday Kelly and teammate Matthew Lyle combined for four innings of quality relief, allowing just five hits and one run. In Monday’s 6-3 win over Concordia in a doubleheader split, junior Zachary Crim (Hatboro-Horsham) earned the win, allowing five hits and three runs in 7.2 innings. Campion was 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs. Kelly had two hits, including a double. In the Griffins’ 2-1 loss in game one, Campion had a pair of hits, and Slagle drove in Chestnut Hill’s only run. Austin DiBonaventure (Plymouth Whitemarsh) threw a scoreless inning of relief.
Cody Stoneback (Quakertown) threw four scoreless innings in Millersville’s 7-2 win over Chestnut Hill in game one of a doubleheader sweep on Tuesday. He allowed just two hits and walked one while striking out two.
Redshirt sophomore Casey Saverio (Hatboro-Horsham) was 3-for-7 in East Stroudsburg’s doubleheader sweep at the hands of Millersville last Monday, which included a 2-for-3 effort in a 4-3 loss in game one. Savario led ESU at the plate in the four-game series with Millersville, going 6-for-14 (.429) with two walks and two runs scored. In Friday’s 19-6 win over Shippensburg in game two of a doubleheader split, Saverio was 2-for-4 with a double, RBI and three runs scored.
Brandon Martinez (North Penn) had four hits in Kutztown’s doubleheader sweep at the hands of West Chester on Monday, which included a 3-for-3 performance in Kutztown’s 6-2 loss in the opener. He scored two of Kutztown’s five runs on the day and added a stolen base. Alec Jacob (Pennsbury) threw a scoreless inning of relief.
MEN’S BASKETBALL
Villanova junior Ryan Arcidiacono (Neshaminy) was named to the All-Big 5 First Team and also was named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches’ District Five second team. The Neshaminy grad was a first team All-BIG EAST choice and shared conference player of the year honors.
East Stroudsburg senior guard Whis Grant (Plymouth Whitemarsh) was named to the NABC Division II Atlantic Region first team for the third straight year. The PW grad helped lead ESU to its third straight outright PSAC East regular season title. Grant led ESU in scoring for the fourth straight season, averaging 12.9 points a game. He posted a career-high 3.6
assists per game, led the PSAC in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.3) and ranked seventh in steals (1.8 per game) as a senior. He finished his career as a two-time All-America selection (2013, 2014), three-time All-Region first team selection (2013-15), three –time All-PSAC first team selection (2013-15) and the 2013 PSAC East Athlete of the Year as a sophomore. He ranks second at ESU in career points (1,860), fifth in assists (349), third in steals (197), first in three-pointers (268-7th in PSAC history), second in free throws made (416), third in free throws attempted (533), fourth in field goals made (588) and seventh in three-point percentage (38.1). Grant is the first player to lead ESU in scoring in four straight seasons in at least 50 years. He averaged 17.6 points per game as both a sophomore and junior. As a freshman, he averaged 13.9 points and was the first freshman to lead a PSAC championship team in scoring in conference history.
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
St. Joseph University junior Ciara ‘CC’ Andrews (Cheltenham) was named to the All-Big 5 First Team. The Cheltenham grad, who helped the Hawks claim a share of the Philadelphia Big 5 title, averaged a team-best 13.0 points per game during a breakout junior season. Andrews started in 28 games and appeared in all 30, posting career-highs in rebounds (98) and assists (44) while averaging 32.6 minutes per game. The junior shooting guard averaged 22.0 points per game in the final week of the season en route to earning Big 5 Player of the Week honors and finished the year scoring in double figures 20 times.
Villanova senior Emily Leer (Abington) scored a career-high 29 points in Villanova’s 75-70 overtime loss to West Virginia in the quarterfinal round of the WNIT. With the loss, Villanova ends it season at 22-14 overall.
Alex Wheatley (Council Rock South) had 10 points and three rebounds in No. 13 Princeton’s 85-70 loss to top-seeded Maryland in NCAA Second Round action last Monday. It was the Tigers’ first loss of the 2014-15 season. They closed out the year with a record of 31-1. The Tigers’ No. 13 ranking in both the Association Press Top-25 and USA Today Coaches polls are the highest in conference history. Princeton’s No. 8 seed is the best an Ivy program has ever earned, and the Tigers’ first round win over Green Bay was just the second NCAA victory for an Ivy team, joining No. 16 Harvard’s upset over No. 1 Stanford in 1998.
MEN’S LACROSSE
Senior Garret Rosiek (Wissahickon) scored a pair of goals in Aurora University’s 23-6 win over Fontbonne in game two of a rare doubleheader on Saturday. In Aurora’s 12-8 loss to Whittier in game one, Rosiek had a goal and two ground balls. In Wednesday’s 22-5 win over Milwaukee School of Engineering, Rosiek led the way with three goals and five assists.
Senior Patrick Nolan (Plymouth Whitemarsh) anchored the defense in No. 11 Cabrini’s 9-4 win at Centenary College on Tuesday, causing a career high five turnovers. The win extended Cabrini’s conference win streak to 88 games.
Junior defender Tyler Gelhaus (Hatboro-Horsham) had a game-high four caused turnovers in Eastern University’s 15-5 win over Stockton University on Wednesday.
Sophomore Jacob Snavely (Central Bucks West) scored a pair of goals in Gwynedd Mercy’s 15-1 win over Immaculata on Wednesday. Junior Nick Guglielmi (Council Rock South) added a goal.
WOMEN’S LACROSSE
Senior Kimber Kisselback (Neshaminy) was credited with three ground balls and led the team with three caused turnovers in Holy Family’s 17-7 win over Nyack College on Saturday. In Wednesday’s 14-6 win over Queens College, junior Caitlin Carrezola (Neshaminy) caused a game-high four turnovers and also picked up three ground balls.
Stephanie Hogan (Central Bucks West) scored three goals in Eastern University’s 14-13 overtime win over Elizabethtown on Thursday.
Junior Brynn Dietzel (Central Bucks South) connected for the hat trick in Ursinus College’s 8-5 win over Dickinson on Saturday. In Wednesday’s loss to No. 14 TCNJ, Dietzel had a pair of goals.
Hannah Vogel (Hatboro-Horsham) had a pair of goals in Millersville’s 11-10 loss to Edinboro on Saturday.
Kelly Hamilton (Central Bucks South) collected the hat trick in No. 2 Lock Haven’s 11-7 win over Seton Hill on Saturday. In Tuesday’s 19-5 win over Edinboro, Hamilton scored three goals and combined with teammate Jessica Pandolf for eight draw controls.
Christy Knipe (Pennridge) had three caused turnovers in Gwynedd Mercy’s 16-2 loss to Neumann on Saturday.
Jen Bergey (Souderton) combined with teammate Abby Cox for 17 saves in Kutztown’s 14-5 loss to No. 16 West Chester on Tuesday.
Madi Brunk (Cheltenham) had a game-high five assists in Messiah College’s 15-10 win over Susquehanna on Saturday. In Wednesday’s 11-10 win over Stevenson, Becky Ely (Council Rock North) had two draw controls while Brunk had one goal.
Emily Hawkins (Cheltenham) had three goals and an assist in Keystone College’s 18-5 loss to Notre Dame of Maryland on Wednesday.
Junior goalkeeper Ally Frymoyer (Upper Merion) made a career-high 19 saves in Shippensburg’s 15-7 loss to Slippery Rock on Saturday. The Upper Merion grad made 12 saves in the first half and seven in the second. Her previous career high was 18 saves last season against No. 3 Limestone. In Friday’s 17-5 road loss to No. 18 Seton Hill, Frymoyer made eight saves. In Tuesday’s 14-6 loss to No. 20 Bloomsburg, Frymoyer was credited with 11 saves. Senior Garrie Grenfell (North Penn) scored twice.
Kelsy Gumbert (Pennsbury) scored two goals in Kutztown’s 14-5 loss to No. 16 West Chester on Tuesday.
Freshman midfielder Chessie Rahmer (Souderton) contributed a goal in East Stroudsburg’s 14-6 loss to Gannon on Saturday. In Friday’s 16-7 loss to No. 7 Mercyhurst, Rahmer had two goals.
SOFTBALL
Senior Julie Wambold (Hatboro-Horsham) was named Syracuse Athlete of the Week for the week ending March 22. The Hatboro-Horsham grad, a catcher who is a child and family studies major, ranks second on the Orange with 15 RBIs on the year. She is batting .277 on the season and has scored a run in each of the last two games for the Orange.
Wambold reached base three times in Syracuse’s 15-11 loss to Louisville in game one of a twinbill on Saturday, collecting a hit and two walks. Her hit was an RBI double, and she also scored a run in the game. In Syracuse’s 5-4 loss in game two, Wambold was 1-for-3 with a run scored.
Sophomore shortstop Rae Holden (Abington) was 3-for-5 with a double and run scored in East Stroudsburg’s 7-4 win in game one of a doubleheader sweep of Shippensburg on Tuesday.
Senior first baseman Ashley Alden (William Tennent) belted her 10th home run of the season in St. Joe’s 12-2 win over UMass in game two of a doubleheader sweep on Sunday, tying the single season record for home runs in a season set in 1998. She finished the game 2-for-3 with a home run, RBI and two runs scored. Nikki Alden (William Tennent) earned
the win on the mound in the abbreviated five-inning game, allowing five hits and two runs. In St. Joe’s 10-2 win in game one, Nikki Alden was 1-for-2 with a double, two RBIs and one run scored while Ashley Alden was 1-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored. In Saturday’s 14-5 win over UMass, Nikki Alden delivered the decisive hit, smacking a three-run homer to cap the mercy rule win. Ashley Alden finished with two hits, including her ninth home run of the season, and Nikki Alden added four RBIs.
Sophomore Dominique Pinto (Council Rock North) doubled in the University of Connecticut’s 6-1 loss to No. 18 University of Central Florida on Sunday.
Heather Lutz (Hatboro-Horsham) had a pair of hits and RBIs while teammates Maria Spinosa (Hatboro-Horsham) and Stephanie Kulp (North Penn) each had a base hit in Millersville’s 4-1 win in game one of a doubleheader sweep of Shippensburg on Sunday. In the Maurauders’ 6-2 win in game two, Spinosa doubled and scored two runs while Danielle DiFlippo (Hatboro-Horsham) contributed a single, RBI and run scored. In Millersville’s 6-0 win over West Chester in game one of a doubleheader sweep last Monday, Kulp threw 1.2 shutout innings in relief, allowing one hit while striking out two.
Freshman Erin Maher (North Penn) tripled and scored in Philadelphia University’s 6-1 win over Goldey-Beacom on Tuesday.
Sophomore Ally Horvath (Central Bucks South) earned the win in Widener’s 4-3 win over Arcadia in game two of Tuesday’s doubleheader sweep of Arcadia. The CB South grad tossed a complete game seven-hitter, allowing three runs with no walks and notching four strikeouts.
Sophomore Suzanne Swanicke (Pennsbury) hit a three-run home run in La Salle’s 7-6 win over Penn on Wednesday. Sophomore Mackenzie Obert (Pennsbury) and freshman Angelina Refice (Central Bucks West) both collected singles.
Morgan Decker (Central Bucks South) had three hits in Lehigh’s doubleheader sweep of Lafayette on Sunday. Lehigh won the opener 2-0 and the nightcap 8-0 in five innings. In Wednesday’s 5-2 win over Delaware, Decker contributed an RBI double.
Whitney DeLagol (William Tennent) was 3-for-4 with four RBIs and a home run in Penn State Abington’s 16-0 win over Gallaudet on Sunday afternoon. In Saturday’s 8-6 win over Gallaudet, freshman Jennifer Rakita (Neshaminy) earned the win, finishing with three strikeouts and allowing five earned runs. In Tuesday’s 5-3 win over Cairn in game one of a doubleheader sweep, Emily Wrenn (Hatboro-Horsham) earned the win, scattering nine hits and striking out seven over seven innings of work. Danielle Jones (Harry S Truman) was 2-for-4 with two RBIs. In the Nittany Lions’ 15-0 win in game two, Jones had a home run and three RBIs. DeLagol had two RBIs. Rakita picked up her first collegiate win, scattering two hits and striking out eight over five innings of work.
Laura Altenburger (Neshaminy) had a pair of home runs in West Chester’s doubleheader sweep of PSAC rival East Stroudsburg on Sunday. She finished the day 3-for-5 with two home runs and four RBIs. Her two-run home run in the fourth inning propelled the Golden Rams to a 2-1 win in game one. In Friday’s doubleheader sweep at the hands of Shippensburg, Sarah Derstine (Souderton) was a combined 3-for-7 with a home run. In Wednesday’s 2-1 win in game one of a doubleheader sweep of Philadelphia University, Altenburger hit her third home run of the season in the bottom of the sixth to drive in the go-ahead run. Her RBI single in the fourth tied the game 1-1 as she accounted for both of her team’s runs.
Senior pitcher Liz Parkins (Souderton) allowed just two hits while walking four and fanning two in Shippensburg’s 7-1 win over West Chester in game one of a twinbill sweep on Friday. In Shippensburg’s 6-3 win in game two, Parkins threw 2.2 scoreless innings in relief to earn the save. She did not allow a hit while striking out three and walking none.
Sophomore Nicole Casagrande (Hatboro-Horsham) allowed one earned run on one hit in one inning of work in UMBC’s 13-5 win over the University of Maryland Eastern Shore on Wednesday in game two of a doubleheader sweep.
Kelly Hendrickson (William Tennent) was 2-for-3 in Cairn University’s 4-3 loss to Cedar Crest College in game one of a doubleheader on Saturday. Tiffany Gower (North Penn) absorbed the loss. In Tuesday’s 9-6 loss to Penn State Abington in game one of a twinbill, Hendrickson had a pair of hits and one RBI.

Rachel Hyman (Upper Dublin) had a pair of hits in Ursinus College’s 6-5 loss to Franklin & Marshall on Sunday afternoon.
Sophomore centerfielder Ashleigh Sharp (Upper Dublin) broke up a no-hit bid with a two-out bunt single in the seventh inning of Chestnut Hill’s 3-0 loss to No. 21 West Chester on Tuesday.
Freshman Koraima Dudley (Neshaminy) was 3-for-3 and reached base all four times she was at the plate in Chestnut Hill's 10-6 loss to Georgian Court in the nightcap of a doubleheader on Wednesday. She also scored three runs and had one RBI in the best game of her collegiate career. In the Griffins' 2-1 loss to Georgian Court in the opening game of the twinbill, Dudley was 1-for-2.

Lycoming senior TJ Guminski (Hatboro-Horsham) was named to the 2015 MAC Winter Academic Honor Roll. The honor roll is comprised of student-athletes of sophomore class standing or higher who participated in a varsity level sport and registered a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 (4.00 scale) or higher.

IUP senior Tim Lynch (Souderton) finished in just 9:45.31 in the 3000 steeplechase at the Oliver Nikloff Invitational on Saturday in Cincinnati, earning sixth place.
Shippensburg senior Dan Dreeman (Council Rock South) finished seventh in the 800 meters at the 2015 Maryland Invitational hosted by the University of Maryland on Saturday.
Widener’s Michael Quinn (Plymouth Whitemarsh) was named to the MAC Winter Academic Honor Roll. The academic honor roll is comprised of student-athletes who are of sophomore status or higher, who participated in a varsity level sport and registered a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or higher.
Ron Smith (Neshaminy) and Jhaloni Johnson (Springfield) were part of Kutztown’s seventh place 4×400 relay that posted a time of 3:25.77 at the University of Richmond’s Fred Hardy Invitational on Saturday. Smith was 20th in the 100m (11.68) and Johnson was 21st (11.69). Smith finished 24th in the 200m (23.19). On Friday, Chris Varichione (Quakertown) notched a PSAC existing mark in the hammer throw, placing sixth with a throw of 46.63m. He finished 24th in the shot put (12.13m). Brandon Raguz (Central Bucks South) finished seventh in pole vault with a PSAC existing mark of 4.30m.
WOMEN’S TRACK & FIELD
Alvernia junior Jamie Cappiello (Neshaminy) was named to the MAC Winter Academic Honor Roll. The academic honor roll is comprised of student-athletes who are of sophomore status or higher, who participated in a varsity level sport and registered a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or higher.
Moravian sophomore Sarah Hughes (Souderton) finished fourth in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 10:53.23 at the Lafayette College 7-Way Meet on Sunday afternoon. Freshman Casie Cronk (Quakertown) was part of the 4×400 relay that finished eighth with a time of 4:30.52. Lauren Suelke (Quakertown) was part of the 4×100 ‘B’ relay that finished sixth in 51.36 seconds.
Tiffany Burrows (Quakertown) was part of Messiah’s third place 4×100 relay that posted a time of 52.62 at the Danny Curran Invitational at Widener University on Saturday. Burrows also finished second in the 400 meters dash with a time of 1:01.14.
Temple sophomore Sydnee Jacques (North Penn) recorded a first place mark and personal best to lead the Owls at the Maryland Invitational on Saturday. Jacques placed first in the triple jump with a distance of 11.01m and earned a personal best 100m hurdles time of 14.96 seconds.
Kutztown sophomore Olivia Dettore (Central Bucks West) turned in a career-best run in the 5000m, posting a time of 19:07.49 at the Fred Hardy Invite hosted by the University of Richmond on Friday. Her time was an improvement of more than 17 seconds and was good for 11th place.
Gwynedd Mercy sophomore AnaLee Rodriguez (Pennsbury) finished 12th in discus with a throw of 29.19m (95’9”) at the Danny Curran Invitational at Widener on Saturday. It was the fourth best throw of her college career.
Widener senior Amber Char (William Tennent) vaulted a height of 3.42 meters (11’2.50”) in the pole vault to finish tied for sixth at the Danny Curran Invitational hosted by Widener on Saturday. Char was named to the MAC Winter Honor Roll. The academic honor roll is comprised of student-athletes who are of sophomore status or higher, who participated in a varsity level sport and registered a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or higher.
MEN’S VOLLEYBALL
Sophomore Christian Lizano (Pennridge) contributed seven digs in Vassar’s 3-1 win over Penn State-Behrend on Saturday. In Vassar’s 3-0 loss to Stevens later in the day Saturday, Liana had a match-best nine kills. In Thursday’s 3-0 sweep of Brooklyn College, Lizana had five kills and three aces.
Senior Scott Morantz (Neshaminy) contributed 18 digs in Stevenson’s 3-2 loss to Cairn University on Saturday. In Wednesday’s 3-1 win over Marymount, sophomore Michael Fehrs (Central Bucks West) had six kills.
Andy Willits (North Penn) had 13 kills and teammate Ryan Garven (Council Rock North) had 12 to lead Cairn University to a 3-2 win over Stevenson University in Saturday’s season finale. The win avenged a 3-0 loss to Stevenson earlier this season. In Friday’s 3-0 loss to Thiel, Garven had 11 kills with a .250 hitting percentage and Willits contributed nine kills.
