Matt Hollenbeck (Hatboro-Horsham) pitched five-plus innings in Georgetown’s 2-1 loss to Illinois State on Saturday in its first game of the Snowbird Baseball Classic in Port Charlotte, Fla. The Hatboro grad was not involved in the decision, allowing one hit and one run (unearned) while walking five and striking out four.
Junior transfer Bobby Reddick (North Penn) threw five shutout innings of one-hit ball in Kutztown’s 3-1 win over Clarion to highlight the second day of the team’s spring break trip to North Carolina. He struck out five and walked one. Matt Mattricardi (Upper Dublin) threw a shutout inning of relief, allowing one hit. In Saturday’s 5-1 win over Pitt-Johnstown, Matricardi did not allow a hit in a scoreless inning of relief. In KU’s 8-3 win over Pitt-Johnstown in the second game of the twinbill, Brandon Martinez (North Penn) and Clay Sebesky (Central Bucks East) both drove in runs with singles in a five-run seventh inning.
Junior Daniel Chou (Wissahickon) was 2-for-3 in Caltech’s 14-0 loss to Chapman on Saturday. In Friday’s 9-0 loss to Chapman, Chou extended his hitting streak to five games.
Senior right fielder Matt Hanson (Central Bucks West) singled and scored a run in Moravian College’s 5-2 win over No. 18 Webster University (Mo.) on Saturday at the Snowbird Classic in Port Charlotte, Fla. In Moravian’s 8-5 win over No. 12 Marietta College on Sunday, Hanson singled, scored and drove in a run.
Outfielder Greg McDonough (Wissahickon) finished 3-for-4 at the plate, including three runs scored, in Widener’s 8-2 win over Neumann University at the RussMatt Invitational in Auburndale, Fla., on Tuesday. The sophomore stole three bases and knocked in two runs.
Andrew Check (Central Bucks West) doubled, stole a base and scored a run in Eastern University’s 10-1 loss to Methodist University on Wednesday in game two of a doubleheader. Check also had a hit in Eastern’s 13-3 loss in the opener.
Randy Frankenfield (Wissahickon) earned the win on the mound in York College’s 3-1 win over Mount Saint Mary College (NY) on Tuesday at The Ripken Experience in Myrtle Beach, S.C. Frankenfield allowed four hits and one run in eight innings, walking two and fanning six. In Monday’s 8-5 win over Mount Saint Mary, Zach Philippi (Harry S Truman) threw three innings in relief, allowing one run (unearned) while fanning one and walking none.
Dylan Tice (Pennridge) was 2-for-5 with a pair of RBIs and two runs scored while Robert Knox (Upper Moreland) was 2-for-5 with an RBI in West Chester’s 9-8 loss to Slippery Rock on Sunday morning at Jack Russell Stadium in Clearwater, Fla. In Saturday’s 9-4 loss to Lake Erie College, Tice was 3-for-5 with a home run and two RBIs.
Pre-season All-American Kyle Wenger (Souderton) was 2-for-4 in Delaware Valley’s 12-5 loss to the University of Northwestern on Saturday in the nightcap of a doubleheader on the team’s road trip to Florida.
Eric Heaney (Hatboro-Horsham) had a two-out, two-run double and teammate Chris Hens (Hatboro-Horsham) had a pair of hits in Gwynedd Mercy’s 8-5 loss to St. John Fisher in the 2015 Russmatt Baseball Central Florida Invitational last Monday over spring break. Brett Kozlowski (William Tennent) scored a run and also contributed a sacrifice fly. In Gwynedd’s 8-2 loss to Concordia Chicago on Tuesday, David Blount (Harry S Truman) was 2-for-3 with an RBI. In Tuesday’s 9-2 loss to Concordia Chicago in the second game of a twinbill, Jason Mulvey (Bensalem) was 2-for-4 with a double.
Elizabethtown senior pitcher Kristopher Davis (Central Bucks East) was named as NCAA Division III’s Honorable Mention Pitcher of the Week by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association it was announced Thursday. He also was named Landmark Conference Pitcher of the Week for the week ending March 1. Davis’ 15 strikeouts in Elizabethtown’s 12-0 shutout of Maritime (N.Y.) last Saturday shattered his former career high and surpassed his 2014 season total. The CB East grad registered 11 strikeouts through five innings and picked up the win after going 7.2 scoreless innings. Davis came into the season opener with a previous best of six strikeouts in a game. He only had 14 all of last season, although it was the best statistical season of his career as he tossed four complete games and had a strong 1.61 ERA.
Davis made his second start of the season on Thursday against The Apprentice School in Vero Beach, Fla., allowing seven hits and three runs while striking out six to earn the complete game victory in Elizabethtown’s 6-3 win. In Monday’s 8-4 win over Immaculata, Ryan Schamp (Central Bucks West) launched a run-scoring double and finished with two hits.
Greg Paprocki (Council Rock South) allowed one hit and fanned three while walking none in two scoreless innings of relief in La Salle’s 14-3 win over UNC Asheville on Sunday.
Redshirt sophomores Conner Crookham (Hatboro-Horsham) and Casey Saverio (Hatboro-Horsham) were offensive standouts during the first four games of East Stroudsburg’s six-game southern trip over spring break. Crookham was 7-for-14 with two doubles, one triple, one RBI and five runs scored while Saverio was 6-for-13 with three walks, a hit by pitch, double, two RBIs and four runs scored. In ESU’s 5-3 win over Clarion in game one of a twinbill, Crookham had an RBI single. In ESU’s 5-3 win over Clarion in the second game of the doubleheader, Saverio and Crookham both had two hits. In East Stroudsburg’s 11-0 win over Virginia State,
Saverio was 2-for-4 with three runs scored, and Crookham was 3-for-4 with a double and two runs scored.
MEN’S BASKETBALL
Villanova junior guard Ryan Arcidiacono (Neshaminy) was named to the first team All-BIG EAST squad. The Wildcats’ floor leader, who often came up with the critical play, averaged 10.7 points and 3.6 assists. The junior guard ranked third in the league in assist/turnover ratio at 2.4.
Washington College junior forward Dave Knox (Central Bucks South) has been named All-Centennial Conference honorable mention. This is the first time Knox has earned all-conference honors. The CB South grad, who started all 25 games for the Shoremen this season, led the team in scoring at 14.0 points a game, rebounding at 8.3 boards per game and steals at 1.2 per contest. He ranked second in the conference in rebounds per game, third in the conference in total rebounds (208) and offensive rebounds (71), fifth in free throws made (95), sixth in defensive boards (137) and ninth in scoring. He had all eight of the Shoremen’s double-doubles this season.
Kutztown sophomore Josh Johnson (Norristown) was named to the All-PSAC East Second Team. It is his first All-PSAC honor. The Norristown grad averaged a career-high 14.8 points and 7.3 rebounds. He shot 62.4 percent from the field, second in the PSAC and 14th in Division II. He was named the PSAC East Athlete of the Week twice this season. Johnson has scored in double figures in seven of his last eight games. He has 22 double-digit scoring performances in Kutztown’s 30 games this year and has had seven 20-plus point outings. He scored a career-high 30 points on Feb. 4 against Cheyney when he shot a school record 14-for-14 from the field. It marked the best shooting performance in the NCAA since the 2007-08 season and the best in Division II since 2006-07. He has eight double-doubles this year, 11 for his career, and he surpassed 800 career points and 400 rebounds.
Johnson scored a team-high 11 points and grabbed six rebounds while battling foul trouble in Kutztown’s 69-56 loss to Gannon in a PSAC semifinal game on Saturday. In Tuesday’s 90-79 overtime win over West Chester, Johnson finished with eight points and six rebounds after dealing with foul trouble.
East Stroudsburg senior guard Whis Grant (Plymouth Whitemarsh) earned his third straight first team All-PSAC honor. He is just the second ESU player to earn that distinction. Grant, a two-time All-America selection and two-time first team All-Region selection, was the PSAC East Athlete of the Year in 2013. He is ESU’s top scorer for the fourth straight year, averaging 17.6 points in each of the last two seasons and 13.9 as a freshman, starting his career as the only freshman in conference history to lead a PSAC championship team in scoring.
Grant scored 12 points and handed out seven assists in East Stroudsburg’s 79-62 win over Millersville in a PSAC quarterfinal game Tuesday. In Saturday’s 76-60 loss to IUP in a semifinal game, Grant, who was 4-for-5 for 10 points in the first half, was injured on the final play of the half and did not return. The PW grad converted a three-point play with 1.7 seconds left before a midcourt scramble after the inbounds play. Grant finishes his career with 1,860 career points (second all-time at ESU), 268 three-pointers (first at ESU), 349 assists (fifth at ESU) and 197 steals (third at ESU).
Freshman Aaron Burton (Cheltenham) scored 12 points in DeSales University’s 89-71 loss to Arcadia in the quarterfinals of the ECAC South Region Tournament on Wednesday.
Anthony Moe (Souderton) scored 22 points in Millersville’s 79-62 loss to East Stroudsburg in a quarterfinal game of the PSAC Tournament on Tuesday.
Senior Marcus Badger (Plymouth Whitemarsh) contributed seven points and seven assists in Randolph-Macon’s 78-65 win over Catholic University in the second round of the NCAA Division III Tournament on Saturday. The Yellow Jackets, who extended their school-record win streak to 24, advanced to the sectional round of the NCAA Tournament where they will face St. John Fisher in the round of 16.
Junior Wesley Brooks (North Penn) scored 14 points in McDaniel’s 72-66 loss to Stevenson in the quarterfinals of the 2015 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) South tournament on Wednesday. The North Penn grad was named to the Dean’s List for the fall semester. To qualify for the Dean’s List, a student must achieve a GPA of 3.50 for the semester.
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
St. Joseph’s junior Ciara ‘CC’ Andrews (Cheltenham) was named Atlantic 10 Player of the Week for the week ending March 1. She also was named Phildalphia Big 5 Co-Player of the Week and College Sports Madness Atlantic 10 Player of the Week. The Cheltenham grad averaged 22 points per games in the week and helped the Hawks cap the regular season with a pair of wins. In the Hawks’ 60-49 win over Duquesne, Andrews hit 11-of-23 from the floor and added a free throw to match her career high with 23 points. In the Hawks’ 67-55 win over La Salle, Andrews had a game-high 21 points, going 8-of-14 from the field and 5-of-6 from the foul line. For the week, Andrews shot 51.4 percent from the floor and averaged 2.5 rebounds, 1.0 assists and 1.0 steals while averaging 38.5 minutes per game. For the season, Andrews leads the Hawks in scoring (13.1 ppg) and has posted career highs in rebounds (93) and assists (44).
Andrews scored 14 points in St. Joe’s 71-43 win over 10th-seeded George Mason in the second round of the Atlantic 10 Championship on Thursday. In Friday’s 80-61 loss to second-seeded Dayton, Andrews scored nine points.
Villanova senior center Emily Leer (Abington) earned second team All-BIG EAST honors. After missing the first eight games due to a back injury, Leer returned to bolster the Villanova attack. In the 22 games she has played, Leer is 102-of-204 from the field (.500) and 41-of-98 from three-point range (.418). She is averaging 12.3 points per game, which ranks second on the team. Her best performance of the season came in a win over No. 24 DePaul on Jan. 2 when she had 25 points on 10-of-18 shooting. Leer has scored in double figures in 16 of the 22 games she has played in this season, including 13 of the last 16.
Leer scored a game-high 18 points in Villanova’s 61-53 Senior Day win over Creighton last Sunday, registering her 16th double figure performance of the season.
Lauren Crisler (North Penn) contributed nine points and seven rebounds off the bench in American University’s 79-56 win over Lafayette in a Patriot League quarterfinal game on Friday.
Emily O’Donnell (William Tennent) contributed seven points and 10 rebounds in Albright’s 61-59 win over Moravian on Saturday. With the win, Albright advances to the ECAC South Championship game where it will face Lebanon Valley.
Senior Jessica Schmidt (Abington) recorded a double-double in Penn State Abington’s 78-46 win over Morrisville State last Sunday to capture its first North Eastern Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Championship in program history. She contributed 13 points and a game-high 17 rebounds. On Friday in Newberg, Ore., in an opening round game of the NCAA Tournament, the Nittany Lions saw their season come to an end when they fell to undefeated George Fox University 83-25. Schmidt contributed eight points and eight rebounds.
Shippensburg junior Stephanie Knauer (North Penn) received second team All-PSAC honors. It is the third straight All-PSAC award for Knauer, who earned first team honors last year and second team honors and Eastern Division Freshman of the Year awards in 2012-13. This season she led the Raiders in scoring with 12.9 points a game while averaging 6.6 rebounds.
Knauer had nine points, six rebounds and three assists in Shippensburg’s 77-70 loss to West Chester in a PSAC quarterfinal game on Tuesday. Freshman Vicky Tumasz (North Penn) scored six points and was 2-of-3 from long range.
Alex Wheatley (Council Rock South) scored seven points in No. 13 Princeton’s 63-44 win over Columbia University on Saturday, clinching the Ivy League title and punching its ticket to the NCAA Tournament. The Tigers are 29-0.

Senior Garret Rosiek (Wissahickon) scored a goal in Aurora University’s 15-7 loss to the College of Wooster on Saturday.

Junior Kelly Cross (Upper Dublin) contributed an assist and was credited with two ground balls in No. 6/5 Syracuse’s 10-7 loss to defending national champion Maryland on Saturday. In last Saturday’s 10-9 loss to Boston College, Cross connected for a goal.
Junior Cortnee Daley (Hatboro-Horsham) scored five goals in No. 12 University of Louisville's 18-5 win over William & Mary on Saturday. Daley, who has 17 goals for the 5-0 Cardinals, was named a captain. Last year, she appeared in all 20 games, making 17 starts. Daley finished tied for second on the team with 43 goals. She also led the team with 22 caused turnovers, ranking her eighth in the BIG EAST last season. She finished fourth on the team in points with 45. She finished her sophomore season with 40 ground balls and nine draw controls.

McDaniel freshman Kristen Upton (Central Bucks East) was named to the Dean’s List for the fall semester, earning highest honors. The highest honors distinction is given to students with a GPA of 3.9 or above.
SOFTBALL
St. Joseph’s senior first baseman Ashley Alden (William Tennent) was named Atlantic 10 Softball Player of the Week for the week ending March 1. Selected to the
all-tournament team at the Coastal Carolina Invitational last weekend, Alden helped the Hawks to a tournament-best 4-1 record. Alden batted .556 on the week with 10 RBIs, six runs scored and a 1.000 slugging percentage. In a pair of games last Friday, Alden combined to go 6-for-8 at the plate, including a pair of home runs, with five RBIs and three runs scored as SJU topped Mount St. Mary’s before falling to Loyola-Chicago. She followed going 3-for-7 on Saturday with three RBIs and three runs scored as the Hawks topped Loyola-Chicago and host Coastal Carolina. Alden wrapped up the weekend with a pair of RBIs in the Hawks’ 8-0 win over Mount St. Mary’s. For the season, Alden is batting .375 with a team-high 11 RBIs and ranks second in runs scored with 10.
Junior Lauren Klepchick (Central Bucks South) had three hits in Rhode Island’s 7-2 loss to Georgia Southern last Sunday on the final day of the USF Under Armour Invitational. In Sunday’s 15-5 loss to St. John’s at the JMU Dukes Invitational, Klepchick walked to mark the fifth consecutive game she has reached base.
Dominique Pinto (Council Rock North) doubled and scored in the University of Connecticut’ 5-2 loss to Evansville in the Mizuno Classic consolation game on Sunday in Stillwater, Okla. In Saturday’s 10-5 win over Evansville, Pinto delivered a two-run double.
Ali Vavala (Central Bucks East) was 3-for-4 in No. 7 West Chester’s 11-3 win over Stonehill on Sunday afternoon at the Dot Richardson Spring Games in Clermont, Fla. In West Chester’s 11-4 win over Urbana on Saturday, Vavala went 2-for-2 with four RBIs. In West Chester’s 2-1 win over the University of Mary on Friday, Erin Quense (Neshaminy) collected a hit.
Stephanie Kulp (North Penn) tripled and scored on an RBI single by Maria Spinosa (Hatboro-Horsham) in Millersville’s 7-6 loss in 10 innings to Bentley on Sunday in Clermont, Fla. Danielle DiFilippo (Hatboro-Horsham) singled and drove in a run. In Saturday’s 2-1 win over Cedarville, Kulp was 1-for-2. In Friday’s 6-1 win over Lake Erie, DiFilippo hit a solo home run in the bottom of the first. Kulp tripled and scored a run. In Thursday’s 3-2 loss to the University of the Sciences, Gabbie Berry (Norristown) delivered an RBI double. Kulp had a pair of hits while DiFilippo singled and drove in a run.
Senior Liz Parkins (Souderton), who started in right field, was 4-for-4 with two doubles, one RBI and a run scored in Shippensburg’s 10-5 win over Urbana at the National Training Center in Clermont, Fla., on Sunday. Parkins is 6-for-8 with three doubles in her two starts this season.
Sophomore Christina Bascara (Pennsbury) hit a two-run home run in the seventh inning breaking a 3-3 tie and propelling La Salle to a 5-3 win over Stetson on Sunday in the consolation game of the Stetson Classic in Deland Florida. Bascara was named to the all-tournament team. In Saturday’s 13-4 loss to Stetson, Suzanne Swanicke (Pennsbury) collected a pair of sacrifice flies while Bascara also hit a sacrifice fly. In Friday’s 8-1 loss to No. 25 Kansas, Bascara, Swanicke and Mackenzie Obert (Pennsbury) each collected a hit. Obert scored the Explorers’ only run.
Sophomore designated player Bridget Hunt (Harry S Truman) had three RBIs, powering Binghamton to a sweep of its first two games at the Myrtle Beach Tournament on Saturday. Hunt had a pair of hits in the Bearcats’ 9-5 win over Manhattan. In Binghamton’s 3-2 win over Rider, Hunt drilled a solo home run in the bottom of the fourth inning to tie the game 2-2. Two innings later, she doubled in the eventual winning run. In last Sunday’s 16-11 win over Toledo in the final game at the Arizona State Tournament, Hunt scored three runs.
Junior Haileigh Stocks (Central Bucks South) collected a hit in Robert Morris University’s 8-1 loss to Toledo on Saturday at the USF Under ArmourShowcase in Clearwater, Fla. In Friday’s 5-1 loss to Maine, Stocks had a pair of hits, including a double. It was her second multi-hit game of the season and the 13th of her career.
Junior Morgan Decker (Central Bucks South) had three hits, including a double, in Lehigh’s sweep of Sacred Heart (5-0) and Presbyterian (4-0) on Saturday in Winter Haven, Fla.

Morgan Lewis (Council Rock North) tossed a four-hit shutout in Susquehanna’s 3-0 win over Roger Williams on Friday in Clermont, Fla., striking out seven and walking none. Susquehanna completed its road trip with a 7-3 record. In Tuesday’s 11-2 win over Mount Union, Lewis went the distance to earn the win, allowing just two runs on six hits. Lauren Creamer (Neshaminy) contributed an RBI single. In Monday’s 6-5 loss to Muhlenberg, Creamer had a two-run double.
Junior MaryKate Ballerino (Hatboro-Horsham) drove in three runs in Gwynedd Mercy’s 9-0 win over Anna Maria in last week’s trip to the Fast Pitch Dreams Classic in South Carolina. In Gwynedd’s 5-3 win over John Jay last Monday, sophomore Nikki Canfield (Souderton) drove in a run.
MEN’S SWIMMING & DIVING
Eric Jensen (Upper Dublin) was part of the University of Buffalo’s fourth place 200 medley relay that posted a time of 1:29.34 at the Mid-American Conference Swimming and Diving Championships on Thursday.
La Salle sophomore CJ Gimpel (Central Bucks South) has been named to the Atlantic 10 Men’s Swimming and Diving Academic All-Conference team. The CB South grad earned the silver medal in the 1-meter dive (269.60) at the 2015 A-10 Championships in February. He also finished seventh in the 3-meter dive with a score of 229.05. Gimpel was strong during the season as well, winning the 1-meter dive (288.75) against George Mason on Nov. 15 and taking second (307.30) at the Bucknell Invitational the following week. Gimpel will compete in the NCAA Zone A Diving Championships in Buffalo March 9-11. The CB South grad carries a 3.07 GPA as a biology major.
Bucknell freshman Chris Devlin (Upper Dublin) was named the 5th Quarter Fresh Bison Athlete of the Week for the week ending March 1, thanks to his impressive performance at the ECAC Championships at Pittsburgh's Trees Pool. The recently named Patriot League Rookie of the Meet won the 200 backstroke, finished third in the 200 individual medley and placed eighth in the 200 freestyle at the season's final meet. Already the school record holder in the 200 back (1:45.04), Devlin capped the ECAC Championships with Bucknell's first individual victory in that event at ECACs since Don Steenson claimed first in both the 100 and 200 back in 1992. Devlin defeated Pittsburgh's Matt Tankle in the final by 1.25 seconds, touching the wall in 1:45.80 after winning the prelims by 1.52 seconds. Devlin opened the ECAC Championships with a third place finish in the 200 IM. His finals time of 1:45.15 ranks second in program history. On the middle day of ECACs, Devlin placed eighth in the 200 free. His time of 1:39.39 ranks sixth in school history. It was just the sixth meet this season Devlin competed in the 200 free. A busy Devlin also swam as part of four Bison relays at the ECAC Championships. A First Team All-Patriot League selection last week, Devlin's ECAC performance followed a strong showing at his first Patriot League Championships. The freshman became Bucknell's first Rookie of the Meet since Luke Trafton in 2007 and posted three top five finishes in individual events, setting three school records in the process. Devlin finished first in the 400 IM, second in the 200 back and fifth in the 100 back at Patriots. He was also part of four relays that posted program top 10 times. This is the second weekly award this season for Devlin, who was named the Patriot League Male Swimmer of the Week on Nov. 10.
WOMEN’S SWIMMING & DIVING
University of Delaware junior Kelly Congdon (Pennsbury) will compete in the NCAA Zone A Diving Meet beginning Monday at the University of Buffalo. In her last competition, Congdon finished second in the 1-meter event at the CAA Diving Championship. The Pennsbury grad, who was named CAA Diver of the Week earlier this season, has qualified for the NCAA Zone Diving Meet each year she has been at Delaware. Congdon finished 38th in the 3-meter event last season and recorded a 42nd place finish in the 1-meter.

Johns Hopkins senior Michael Spadaro (Council Rock South) earned first team All-Centennial Conference and was crowned Outstanding Field Performer for the second year in a row. The CR South grad, a captain of this year’s team, highlighted a strong weekend for the Blue Jays by finishing first in the heptathlon, triple jump and long jump while snagging a sixth place finish in the pole vault. He won the heptathlon with 4,539 points. He finished first in five of the seven heptathlon events. His long jump, 6.63m (21-09.00) is a new personal record and ranks 10th in indoor track and field in program history.
Senior Dan Dreeman (Council Rock South) recorded one of 22 All-Region performances during the 2014-15 season for No. 27 Shippensburg, posting a time of 1:53.49 in the 800 meter at the Bucknell Tune-Up on Feb. 13. Jalen Ramsey (Norristown) delivered an all-region performance in the high jump at the Bison Opener on Dec. 15 with his leap of 6-11. Both Dreeman and Ramsey will compete in the 2015 NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships March 13-14 at the Birmingham CrossPlex in Birmingham, Ala. Dreeman will be part of Shippensburg’s distance medley relay while Ramsey will compete in the high jump.
Gwynedd Mercy freshman Byron Coleman (Plymouth Whitemarsh) was 19th out of 42 competitors in the long jump with a mark of 6.50 meters (21’4”) at the ECAC Indoor Championship at the New York City Armory over the weekend.
Widener senior Michael Quinn (Plymouth Whitemarsh) finished fourth in the mile with a time of 4:21.01 at the Tufts Last Chance Meet on Friday.
WOMEN’S TRACK & FIELD
Gwynedd Mercy junior Zakiyyah Richardson (Pennsbury) will be heading to the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships next weekend as she hit the qualifying mark in the 60 meter dash at the ECAC Indoor Championship at the New York City Armory over the weekend. Richardson finished preliminaries of the 60 meter dash with the fastest time of 7.68, ranking her third in the country and just 0.01 behind second. This was her third fastest race ever and fastest of the season. The time (7.68) would have finished fifth last year at NCAA Indoor Championships. She moved on to the finals and finished second overall with a time of 7.74, which was her second fastest time of the year.
Freshman Lindsay Sheehan (Pennridge) was part of Shippensburg’s first place 4×400 relay that posted a time of 3:54.85 at the 2015 PSAC Indoor Championships last week.
Moravian freshman Casie Cronk (Quakertown) was part of the 4×400 relay that earned first team Landmark Conference honors.
Bloomsburg senior Kate Dodds (Upper Dublin) was named by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) to the All-Region team in the mile, 3k, 5k and distance medley relay. The Upper Dublin grad is coming off the PSAC Championships where she was named the Most Outstanding Athlete after winning the PSAC championship in the 3 and 5k events and finishing second in the mile. Her times in all three events were NCAA provisional times.
MEN’S VOLLEYBALL
Andy Willits (North Penn) had 10 kills in Cairn University’s 3-0 loss to No. 4 Juniata on Saturday. Ryan Garven (Council Rock North) had five kills. In Cairn’s 3-2 win over Wells College later in the day, Garven had 11 kills while Willits contributed nine. In Friday’s 3-0 loss to Thiel College, Garven and Micah Godshall (Souderton) both had four kills. In Wednesday’s 3-0 loss to Rutgers Newark, Willits had six kills.
WRESTLING
Bucknell senior Joe Stolfi (Souderton) finished second at 285 at the EIWA championships at Lehigh’s Stabler Arena on Saturday. The Souderton grad, who advanced to the championship for a second straight year, thanks to a 6-0 semifinal win over Lehigh’s Doug Vollaro, also earned an automatic berth to the NCAA Championships. It will be Stolfi’s third appearance. Stolfi bounced back from his first loss of 2015 in the final regular season dual match of the season two weeks ago with a pair of decisive wins to open the tournament. The 2014 EIWA champion at 285 pounds, Stolfi started with his 51st career pin to break the Bucknell record and then defeated Cornell’s Jacob Aiken-Phillips by a 12-2 major decision. The victory over Aiken-Phillips was the career-high 35th of the season for Stolfi, who leads the nation with 19 pins this season.
