For the past two years, Wiseman has supported YQCA coaches and his fellow varsity track and field teammates both on and off the field. In her nomination, Penn President Amy Gutmann wrote “[Jeff] has gone above and beyond his given duties to ensure a quality experience for both the Penn Students and the ‘Young Quakers.’” Jeff also reflects on his experience, stating, “Young Quakers is an eye-opening experience. It teaches me to appreciate the little things in life—and focus more on family and friends rather than material interests. As student athletes, we [the Big Quakers] want to show that hard work and dedication can propel the Young Quakers to [reach] their dream careers. Giving these students a sense of hope and a safe place to learn is what this program prides itself on. It is crucial that the students realize Penn is only a few blocks away—and though it seems to them as an alternate world—college could become part of their everyday life.”
