BASEBALL
Kevin Barron (Hatboro-Horsham) hit a solo home run in the sixth inning for his third of the season in Campbell’s 12-6 loss to Charleston Southern. Barron finished the night 2-for-4.
Freshman Danny Long (Pennridge) hit a two-run double as part of his second career three-hit and three-RBI game in Monmouth’s 17-6 win over Canisius on Saturday.
Senior left fielder Brandon DiBona (William Tennent) hit a walk-off double to propel Chestnut Hill to a 3-2 win over Wilmington University in nine innings in game two of a doubleheader split on Thursday. In Chestnut Hill’s 2-0 loss in game one, junior Patrick Kelley (Central Bucks West) was solid, allowing one earned run on eight hits with one walk and four strikeouts. In Tuesday’s 3-1 win over Bloomfield College, DiBona contributed a sacrifice fly.
Senior Mike Kacergis (Pennridge) was on base four times and scored twice in DeSales University’s 6-2 win over Wilkes last Sunday.
Sophomore Nick Ponente (Council Rock South) drove in a pair of runs with a pinch-hit groundout in the seventh inning of Arcadia’s 7-5 win over Hood College in game one of a doubleheader split on Saturday.
Cory Capaldi (Souderton) was 3-for-4 with a grand slam, four RBIs and two runs scored in Pace University’s 13-1 victory over Bloomfield College on Thursday. In Wednesday’s 9-0 win over the University of New Haven, Capaldi was 3-for-4 with two doubles, a triple and two RBIs.
Brendan Giampa (Souderton) threw two scoreless innings in relief in Delaware Valley’s 7-1 loss to six-time defending MAC Freedom champion Misericordia on Thursday, allowing two hits while striking out one and walking one.
Senior Trey Guaglionona (Abington) contributed an RBI single in Penn State Abington’s 6-2 win over Gallaudet in game one of a doubleheader sweep Saturday. In the Nittany Lions’ 8-7 win in game two, sophomore Brett Guaglionona (Abington) was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs. Matt Meyers (Cheltenham) contributed an RBI single.
Josh Freed (Souderton) delivered his second consecutive seven-inning outing, striking out seven and allowing just a single earned run in Eastern’s 12-2 win over Wilkes University on Saturday.
CJ Kilgarriff (Council Rock North) notched his first collegiate win in Philadelphia University 4-1 win over 23rd-ranked Felician in game two of a doubleheader split on Thursday. In six innings, he allowed just one unearned run on five hits and struck out four.
Jared Melone (North Penn) was 3-for-4 with a run scored in No. 18 West Chester’s 2-1 win over Shippensburg in game two of a doubleheader split on Sunday. In Saturday’s 1-0 win over Shippensburg in game one of a doubleheader split, sophomore Jon Fisher (Plymouth Whitemarsh) tossed a five-hit complete game shutout. The sophomore right hander went seven strong innings while fanning seven and allowing just one walk. In West Chester’s 6-5 loss in game two, Melone hit his first and second home runs of the season. He blasted a two-run home run to left field in the top of the first. His second home run came in the final frame.
Senior lefty John Santoianni (Souderton) threw a scoreless inning in Villanova’s 13-0 loss to Wofford in game two of a doubleheader on Saturday.
Tyler Guidos (Quakertown) allowed just one hit over the final 2.2 innings in Mansfield's upset of No. 12 ranked and 2016 national runner-up Millersville in game two of a doubleheader on Saturday. Guidos, who improved to 3-0 on the mound, allowed just one hit and struck out three in the winning effort.
Sophomore David Drea (Central Bucks South) threw seven shutout innings for his first win of the season in Ursinus College’s 10-3 win at Penn State Berks on Thursday. Drea scattered three hits and fanned five with only one walk. Sophomore Chris Usowski (Central Bucks East) had three hits, including his second home run of the year. He finished 3-for-5 with two RBIs and a pair of runs scored. In Sunday’s 10-1 win over Dickinson in game one of a doubleheader sweep, Usowski finished 3-for-4 with a run and an RBI. Matt Radwanski (Central Bucks South) recorded the final out of the game.
Freshman Cole Swiger (Upper Dublin) was 1-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs and freshman Blake Gular (Souderton) was 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Bloomsburg’s 6-6 tie with East Stroudsburg in game two of a doubleheader Thursday. In ESU’s 5-3 win in game one, Swiger was 2-for-3 with an RBI.
Gwynedd Mercy sophomore David Tatoian (Pennridge) was named the Colonial States Athletic Conference Hitter of the Week for the week ending March 26. The Pennridge graduate had a monster week, hitting .625 (10-for-16) and posting a 1.375 slugging percentage and .625 on-base percentage. He totaled nine RBIs, five runs, three doubles and three home runs. In the doubleheader sweep against Neumann, he went a combined 7-for-8 with eight RBIs, five runs scored, three doubles and three home runs. In the victory at Swarthmore, he was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Tatoian leads the CSAC in hits (23), RBIs (21) and doubles (6) and is ranked in the top five in batting, slugging, stolen bases and home runs.
Gwynedd Mercy freshman Jared Gorman (North Penn) earned a spot on the Colonial State Athletic Conference Honor Roll for the week ending March 26. Gorman worked eight strong innings and allowed just one unearned run while striking out two in the Griffins’ win over Swarthmore. Gorman is 3-1 on the year with a 4.74 ERA in 24.2 innings of work. He has 18 strikeouts and just eight walks.
Nick Mulvey (Bensalem) was 2-for-3 with an RBI and run scored in Gwynedd Mercy’s 7-6 loss to Cairn on Sunday. In the Griffins’ 4-3 loss to Cairn in game one of the doubleheader, Shaughn Wright (Pennsbury) had an RBI single. In Wednesday’s 10-10 tie with nationally-ranked Alvernia, Tatoian (RBI, two runs) and Wright (double, RBI, run) both had a pair of hits. Mulvey had an RBI and scored two runs. Gorman worked six innings to earn the no-decision, allowing just one earned run.
Senior Greg McDonough (Wissahickon) was 1-for-3 with three runs scored in Widener’s 19-4 win over nationally-ranked TCNJ on Wednesday.
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
Sophomore Nicole Munger (Central Bucks West) poured in 12 points, including two three-pointers, in the University of Michigan’s 89-79 triple overtime win over Georgia Tech in Saturday’s WNIT title game in Calihan Hall on the campus of the University of Detroit Mercy. Munger’s three from the corner opened the scoring in the third overtime. She scored seven of her team’s points in the final overtime period to give the Wolverines their first postseason title. Munger also had four rebounds and two steals.
MEN’S GOLF
Saint Joseph’s junior Tyler Sokolis (Central Bucks West) shot 76-75/151 at the Wildcat Invitational.
MEN’S LACROSSE
Chris Fleming (Upper Moreland) scored two goals in Misericordia’s 12-10 loss to Elizabethtown on Wednesday.
Freshman Michael Sowers (Upper Dublin) had five goals and four assists in No. 15 Princeton’s 21-11 win over Brown on Saturday. Only 13 Princeton players have ever had nine points or more in a game in the history of the program. Sowers has done it twice in nine games. Sowers also became the first Princeton freshman ever to have at least 20 goals and 20 assists, and his team-best 51 points leave him two away from Ryan Boyle for second and four away from Kevin Lowe for first all-time among Tiger freshmen. Saturday’s game represented yet another turnaround from last year when Brown defeated Princeton 19-8.
Senior Steve Palo (Hatboro-Horsham) scooped up a team-high six ground balls in No. 17 Ursinus College’s 9-8 win over Swarthmore on Saturday. Senior Corey Kelly (Plymouth Whitemarsh) had a pair of caused turnovers. In Wednesday’s 10-8 win over Washington College, Palo went 11-for-18 at the face-off X and collected three ground balls. Freshman Evan Scott (Upper Dublin) had three ground balls.
Jacob Snavely (Central Bucks South) had a pair of goals in Gwynedd Mercy’s 8-4 win over Marywood on Saturday.
Junior Anthony Paone (Central Bucks South) won 11-of-14 face-offs and scooped up six ground balls in Widener’s 8-2 win over Lebanon Valley on Saturday.
WOMEN’S LACROSSE
Freshman Devon Mela (Council Rock North) scored two goals and scooped up three ground balls in Albright’s 16-7 loss to Messiah on Saturday. In Wednesday’s 15-9 win at Lycoming, Mela scored four goals, her third game this season with at least four goals.
Senior Jamie Damirgian (Council Rock South) had an assist on the game-winning goal with 13 seconds remaining that gave Millersville an 11-10 win over Bloomsburg on Wednesday. The assist was her fifth point of the afternoon as the senior midfielder assisted on two goals and scored three more. Damirgian is tied for third on the team in points and tied for second in goals.
Emily Hawkins (Cheltenham) scored six goals and assisted on another and also had six ground balls in Keystone’s 16-5 win over Centenary on Saturday.
Samantha Ryder (Pennridge) racked up a game-high four goals, six draw controls, one ground ball and one caused turnover in Philadelphia University’s 19-3 win over Post University on Saturday.
Alison Fugate (Pennridge) scored a pair of goals in Shippensburg’s 14-11 loss to No. 16 Lock Haven on Tuesday.
Senior attack Lauren Green (North Penn) had three goals and four assists in East Stroudsburg’s 18-9 win over Gannon on Saturday. The North Penn graduate recorded her 100th career point last Sunday at Slippery Rock and leads active Warriors in career goals (83) and assists (25). Junior midfielder Chessie Rahmer (Souderton) added three goals. In last Sunday’s 12-10 loss at Slippery Rock, Rahmer had two goals, four caused turnovers and five ground balls. Green had a goal and two assists.
Pitt is the top-ranked team in the latest Women’s Collegiate Lacrosse League club team rankings. The Panthers traveled to Ohio this weekend and defeated Ohio State 19-14 with Allison Hawkins (Cheltenham) scoring one goal. Hawkins also had a goal in Pitt’s 16-5 win over Miami (Ohio).
Temple senior Brenda McDermott (North Penn) was named to the BIG EAST Conference Weekly Honor Roll for the week ending March 26. It is her second honor this season after being named Attacker of the Week on Feb. 14. McDermott was clutch for the Owls against Marquette, totaling six points with none bigger than the overtime game-winning goal with 3:19 left in the extra frame. The senior scored a hat trick and added three assists, along with two draw controls, a caused turnover and a ground ball in Temple’s 17-16 victory.
McDermott contributed three goals and three assists to lead Temple to an 11-9 win at Georgetown on Saturday.
SOFTBALL
Haley DeLany (Souderton) hit her first career home run in UMBC’s 6-5 loss to Robert Morris in game two of last Sunday’s doubleheader split.
Senior Julia Schoenewald (Central Bucks East) hit a triple and drove in three runs in Brown’s 9-1 win over Hartford in game one of a doubleheader sweep on Wednesday. In last Sunday’s 7-5 win over Holy Cross, Schoenewald hit a two-run double.
Redshirt senior Valerie Sadowl (Hatboro-Horsham) hit her third home run of the season – a soaring solo shot to right field – in the University of Connecticut’s 1-0 win over the University of South Florida in game two of a doubleheader split on Sunday. In Wednesday’s 2-1 win over Bryant in game one of a doubleheader sweep, Sadowl singled and also scored a run. In UConn’s 9-0 win in game two, Sadowl was 2-for-3 with an RBI and run scored.
Senior Lauren Quense (Neshaminy) legged out her first career triple on a long drive to the gap in right center and drove in a pair of runs in Fordham’s 13-0 win over Stony Brook on Wednesday.
Senior outfielder Bridget Hunt (Harry S Truman) went 4-for-7 to finish the afternoon with a team-best .571 batting average in Binghamton’s doubleheader against Marist on Thursday. In last Sunday’s 13-8 win over Princeton, Hunt contributed an RBI single.
Corinne Garuffe (Neshaminy) was 1-for-3 with a pair of RBIs and Madison Baer (Cheltenham) was 1-for-3 with an RBI and run scored in Albright’s 8-0 win over Lancaster Bible on Thursday.
Junior Maddie Mulhall (Quakertown) and freshman Meghan Klee (Quakertown) each had a double as one of their two hits in Shippensburg’s 7-5 win over Millersville in game one of a doubleheader split on Saturday.
Junior Rachel Hyman (Upper Dublin) doubled and scored in Ursinus College’s 5-3 loss to McDaniel on Saturday. She finished the game 2-for-3 with a run to lead the offense.
Heather Lutz (Hatboro-Horsham) was 1-for-3 with a double in Millersville’s 6-0 win over East Stroudsburg in game one of a doubleheader split Sunday. In Saturday’s 7-3 win over Shippensburg in game two of a doubleheader split, Lutz hit a pair of home runs, finishing the contest 2-for-3 with three RBIs and three runs scored. In Millersville’s 7-5 loss in game one, Lutz was 2-for-5 with a double, RBI and run scored. In a 9-0 win over University of the Sciences in game one of a twinbill sweep, Lutz was 3-for-4 with two doubles, three RBIs and a run. In the Marauders’ 11-2 win over USciences in game two, Lutz was 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored.
Marissa Alpaugh (Pennsbury) had two hits and an RBI in Cabrini’s 9-6 win over The College of New Jersey in game one of a doubleheader split on Wednesday.
Katelynn Reiss (Bensalem) had her two strongest games of the season with a 5-for-7 effort with seven RBIs and two home runs in Cairn’s sweep of York College on Thursday. In Cairn’s 8-0 win, Reiss was 3-for-3 with a double, home run and three RBIs. She hit a two-run home run in the fourth inning. In Cairn’s 9-1 win in game two, Reiss had two hits – a two-run double and a two-run single.
Mackenzie Obert (Pennsbury) was 2-for-3 with a two-run home run in La Salle’s 8-6 loss to St. Bonaventure in game one of a doubleheader split on Sunday. Suzanne Swanicke (Pennsbury) also had a pair of hits. In La Salle’s 6-2 win in game two, Obert hit another two-run home run. In Thursday’s 7-5 loss to Villanova, Obert and Christian Bascara (Pennsbury) both had two hits.
Senior Ally Horvath (Central Bucks South) threw another shutout and also scored the deciding run to lead Widener to a 1-0 win over Eastern in the nightcap of a doubleheader on Thursday. Horvath hit a leadoff single in the third inning, stole second and third and scored on a groundout. In the circle, Horvath allowed the Eagles to advance only one runner safely to second while winning her fifth consecutive start. She yielded just four hits – all singles – while recording two strikeouts and walking one to improve to 6-1 this spring. In Wednesday’s 11-5 win over Immaculata in game two of a doubleheader sweep, Horvath earned the complete game win.
Junior Emily Mayhew (Pennridge) was 2-for-3 with two doubles and four RBIs in Bloomsburg’s 10-1 win over Clarion in game one of a doubleheader sweep Sunday. In Saturday’s 1-0 win over Mansfield in game one of a twinbill sweep, Mayhew was 2-for-3.
Sara Keeny (William Tennent) had two hits to extend her hitting streak to 14 games and scored two runs in Kutztown’s doubleheader sweep of Shippensburg on Thursday (3-0, 3-1).
Michelle Holweger (North Penn) led off the fourth inning with a solo home run in Lock Haven’s 4-0 win over Pitt-Johnstown in game two of a doubleheader split on Saturday.
Jovanna Alfonsi (North Penn) recorded her team’s lone hit in Philadelphia University’s 1-0 win over Goldey-Beacom in game two of a doubleheader sweep Wednesday.

Sean Kimball (Central Bucks East) earned an 8-0 win at second singles and Tarik Dashields (Cheltenham) was an 8-0 winner at third singles in Penn State Abington’s 9-0 win over Bryn Athyn on Thursday. Kimball also was part of an 8-1 win at first doubles while Dashields was part of the third doubles team’s 8-0 win. In Wednesday’s 7-2 win over Eastern, Kimball (6-0, 6-0) and Dashields (6-0, 6-2) were winners at second and third singles. Dashields was part of an 8-1 win at third doubles.
Jason Cavell (Council Rock North) earned a 6-1, 6-1 win at fifth singles and was part of the third singles 8-6 win in Gwynedd Mercy’s 9-0 win over Rosemont on Saturday.
WOMEN’S TENNIS
Honora Hegarty (Abington) earned a 6-2, 6-1 win at top flight and Stephanie Jin (Wissahickon) was a 6-0, 6-0 winner at second flight in Penn State Abington’s 9-0 win over Bryn Athyn on Thursday. Hegarty was part of the first doubles team that earned an 8-0 win while Jin was part of a second doubles team that won by an identical score. In Wednesday’s 5-4 loss to Eastern, Hegarty earned a 5-7, 6-4, 11-9 win at second singles.
MEN’S TRACK & FIELD
Pitt senior Chris Spadaro (Council Rock South) placed 17th in the triple jump with a leap of 14.42m at the Pepsi Florida Relays in Gainesville, Fla., this weekend.
Elizabethtown junior Mitch Schlegel (Souderton) finished fourth in the 400m with a time of 50.69 at the Millersville Metrics meet on Saturday. Schlegel was also part of the winning 4x400m relay that posted a time of 3:27.08.
Ursinus freshman Logan Mazullo (Central Bucks West) posted a Centennial Conference qualifying time of 34:02.50 in his 10-kilometer debut at the Danny Curran Invitational at Widener on Saturday.
East Strousburg senior Sean Hagerty (Pennridge) had a season best jump of 21-9 to finish first in Saturday’s tri-meet with Bloomsburg and Kutztown.
Gwynedd Mercy freshman Joe McCoy (Neshaminy) was named to the CSAC Men’s Field Honor Roll as he set a school record in the triple jump to finish second in the team’s first outdoor meet at Ursinus with a mark of 13.57 meters. The effort also qualified him for an ECAC spot. His 6.37 meter effort in the long jump was good enough for second place.
Julien Freeman (Harry S Truman) was part of Lock Haven’s 4×2 relay that took down a school mark that stood for nearly 18 years, posting a time of 1:29.83 and finishing 13th out of 22 teams at the Colonial Relays hosted by William & Mary. Jack Felt (Council Rock North) was part of the 4x1500m relay that established a new record with a time of 16:10.90, finishing ninth out of 24 teams.
Brandon Raguz (Central Bucks South) cleared 4.5m (14-09.00) in the pole vault to take first place with an existing PSAC height in Kutztown’s tri-meet with Bloomsburg and East Stroudsburg on Saturday. Jhaloni Johnson (Springfield) finished second in the 400m with an existing PSAC time of 50.06. Anthony Bullaro (Pennsbury) was part of Kutztown’s first place 4x400m relay that posted a time of 3:23.64. He finished fifth in the long jump with a jump of 5.82m (19-01.25). Ogi Ogbonna (Harry S Truman) ran the fastest 110m hurdle race of his outdoor career, posting a time of 15.65 to finish fourth and qualify for PSACs. He finished fifth in the 400m high hurdles (1:03.39).
James Wilson (Central Bucks South) finished first in the 800m run with a mark of 1:59.47 in Bloomsburg’s tri-meet with East Stroudsburg and Shippensburg on Saturday.
WOMEN’S TRACK & FIELD
Monmouth sophomore Allison Taub (Council Rock South) finished first in the discus (37.36m) and took second in both the shot put (13.42m) and the javelin (37.49m), a personal high mark, at the Stockton Invite this weekend.
Messiah’s Natalie Ross (Souderton) won the 5000m race while setting a personal record with a time of 18:23.63 at the 2017 Danny Curran Invitational at Widener University on Saturday.
Elizabethtown junior Kelsey Brady (Council Rock South) won the 1500m at the Millersville Metrics on Saturday. In her first outdoor meet of the season, the junior was the fastest of her section as well as of the entire field and won by 10 seconds with a time of 4:45.81.
Stephanie Bresadola (North Penn) set a new PSAC mark with her second place finish in the 800m, posting a time of 2:21.53 in Kutztown’s tri-meet with East Stroudsburg and Bloomsburg on Saturday. Olivia Morano (Quakertown) finished third in both the hammer throw and discus. She threw a career-best 38.31m (125-08) in the hammer throw and 32.75m (107-05) in the discus.
Sophomore Leiana Dean (North Penn) was part of East Stroudsburg’s winning 4×100 relay that finished first with a time of 48.71. Kelley Anne Stuetz (Cheltenham) finished first in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:08.39.
Keelan McDonald (Central Bucks West) finished fourth in the 1500m run with a time of 4:53.08 in Bloomsburg’s tri-meet with East Stroudsburg and Kutztown on Saturday.
Moravian junior Casie Cronk (Quakertown) was third in the high jump with an ECAC qualifying height of 1.57 meters (5-1.75) at the Muhlenberg College Invitational on Saturday. Junior Beth Ann Davies (Quakertown) was tied for sixth in the pole vault at 2.90 meters (9-6.25).
Ursinus senior Erin Farrell (Neshaminy) finished eighth overall in the 100m dash (13.03) and the 200 (26.24), netting new season bests in both sprints at Widener’s Danny Curran Invitational on Saturday.
West Chester junior Emily Magnant (Hatboro-Horsham) finished first in the 200m dash with a time of 25.67 at the Millersville Metrics on Saturday. Emily Dusellier (Souderton) was fifth in the 400m dash. Jasmine Noble (Central Bucks South) was part of the first place 4x100m relay that clocked a 48.83. Caroline DiJiosia (Plymouth Whitemarsh) placed fourth in the 100m hurdles with a time of 15.72 seconds.
MEN’S VOLLEYBALL
Senior co-captain Christian Lizana (Pennridge) posted 12 kills and 15 digs along with two assisted blocks in No. 3 Vassar College’s 3-0 win over Penn State Behrend on Saturday. In Wednesday’s 3-2 win over No. 2 New Paltz, Lizana had 12 kills and four digs.
Daniel Ford (Council Rock North) had a match-high 47 assists and 10 digs in Saint Francis’ 3-2 win over Princeton on Saturday. In Friday’s 3-1 win over NJIT, Ford finished with a match-high 44 assists.
Austin Rush (Pennridge) had 20 digs in Alvernia’s 3-2 loss to Cairn University on Saturday.
Michael Fehrs (Central Bucks West) had seven kills and two block assists in Stevenson’s 3-1 loss to No. 9 Marymount (Va.) on Wednesday.
