BASEBALL
Kevin Barron (Hatboro-Horsham) was 2-for-4 with an RBI in Campbell’s 9-7 loss to High Point on Sunday.
Monmouth freshman Danny Long (Pennridge) earned his second MAAC Rookie of the Week accolade, this
time for the week ending April 2. Long posted his best week of the season, hitting .429 and driving in four runs. He went 3-for-4 in the first game at Canisius with a double and three RBIs before adding two more hits and a walk in game two. In the third game of the three-game series, he hit a two-run home run and completed the week with a .714 slugging percentage in addition to playing a perfect shortstop.
Sophomore Nick Ponente (Council Rock South) was 2-for-2 with a double, walk, RBI and run scored in Arcadia’s 6-3 win over Albright in game one of a doubleheader sweep on Saturday. Junior Connor Laigaie (Council Rock South) allowed one run on four hits with three strikeouts in 1.2 innings of work. In Wednesday’s 23-3 rout at Eastern, Ponente was 4-for-5 with three runs scored.
Senior Mike Kacergis (Pennridge) was 1-for-3 with an RBI in DeSales University’s 8-0 win over FDU-Florham in game two of a doubleheader split last Sunday.
Pace University Cory Capaldi (Souderton) was named ECAC Player of the Week for the week ending April 2. The Souderton alum hit .615 with an on-base percentage of .625. He had six extra-base hits, a 1.385 slugging percentage and nine RBIs as Pace went 4-0. In a win over New Haven, Capaldi was 3-for-4 with two doubles and a triple. He had another 3-for-4 game with four RBIs, two runs and a grand slam against Bloomfield. His week finished with two RBIs and a run scored after hitting 2-for-4 with a triple and double against Stonehill. Capaldi’s huge week raised his batting average from .269 to .325.
Capaldi was 2-for-5 with a double and three runs scored in Pace’s 8-6 win over Assumption in game one of a doubleheader split on Saturday.
Colton Hooker (Upper Moreland) was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs in Northampton’s 14-6 win over perennial Division II power Monroe Community College in game one of a twinbill sweep Saturday. Zach Conley (Pennsbury) threw two innings in relief, allowing one run on two hits while fanning two. In Northampton’s 9-7 win in the nightcap, Hooker was 2-for-4 with a double. In Wednesday’s 13-8 win over Luzerne County Community College, Hooker was 2-for-4 with two doubles. In Monday’s 28-4 win over Bucks County Community College, Hooker was 2-for-4.
Elizabethtown sophomore Mike Christy (North Penn) was named Landmark Conference Athlete of the Week for the week ending April 2. Christy combined for seven hits, seven RBIs and two home runs in the Blue Jays Landmark doubleheader sweep of Scranton. In game one, Christy was 4-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. In Elizabethtown’s extra inning win in game two, Christy launched a pair of home runs and drove in five runs. Christy hit the go-ahead and eventual game-winning home run – a solo shot – in the top of the eighth inning and also blasted a three-run home run to put the Jays on the board in the third. Christy is batting a team best .426 with 26 hits, five doubles, 14 RBIs and 16 runs scored. He ranks among the top five in the conference in batting average (second), home runs (third), on-base percentage (fourth, .507) and slugging percentage (fourth, .607).
Christy singled and scored the game’s only run in Elizabethtown’s 1-0 win over Lebanon Valley on Wednesday. In Tuesday’s 13-8 road win over Penn State Harrisburg, Christy was 3-for-6 with an RBI and run scored.Nick Bein (Abington) was 1-for-2 with an RBI and run scored.
Kadar Namey (North Penn) was 2-for-5 with an RBI in St. Joseph’s 11-1 win over Lafayette on Tuesday.
Trey Guaglionona (Abington) was 2-for-4 with an RBI in Penn State Abington’s 7-3 loss to Rowan on Tuesday.
Anthony Rigous (Council Rock North) had three hits in IUP’s doubleheader sweep of Clarion on Saturday. In Monday’s 10-4 win over Gannon in game one of a doubleheader split, Rigous had two hits and two RBIs.
Carter Usowski (Central Bucks East) had an RBI double and Matt Radwanski (Central Bucks South) pitched a scoreless eighth in relief in Ursinus College’s 6-3 loss to Haverford on Sunday. In Saturday’s doubleheader sweep of McDaniel, Usowski was 2-for-5 with a double and run scored in the Bears’ 8-5 win in game one. In game two – also an 8-5 win, Usowski was 2-for-5 with a double, two RBIs and a run score. In Wednesday’s 12-6 win at Haverford, Usowski was 2-for-3 with two walks and an RBI. David Drea (Central Bucks South) worked around five walks to give the Bears a solid five innings, allowing three hits and two runs while earning the win.
Jason Mulvey (Bensalem) was 2-for-3 and reached the 100-hit mark with his single in his first at bat in Gwynedd Mercy’s 4-2 win over Keystone in game one of a doubleheader split on Sunday. Nick Mulvey (Bensalem) singled home the eventual game-winning run. In Saturday’s 10-5 loss to Keystone, Jason Mulvey was 3-for-4 on the day with an RBI and stolen base. David Tatoian (Pennridge) and Shaughn Wright (Pennsbury) both had a pair of hits. In Wednesday’s 15-3 win at Albright, Tatoian drove in seven runs, going 3-for-5 with two home runs. The seven RBIs are one shy of a single game record, and he becomes the fifth player in program history to drive in seven or more runs. Wright doubled and also went deep as he went 3-for-4 with three RBIs. Nick Mulvey finished the day 3-for-5 with three runs scored, and Jason Mulvey had an RBI single and scored three runs. Zach Dennis (Central Bucks South) worked five shutout innings while striking out two. In Monday’s 11-3 win over Cairn University, Tatoian was 2-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and a run scored, and Nick Mulvey was 2-for-3 with a triple, RBI and two runs scored.
Greg McDonough (Wissahickon) was 1-for-3 and delivered a diving catch in center field with two outs and a runner on third in Widener’s 5-2 win over Alvernia in game one of a doubleheader split on Saturday.
Austin DiBonaventure (Plymouth Whitemarsh) and Brandon DiBona (William Tennent) both singled and drove in a run in Chestnut Hill’s 5-2 win over Nyack in game two of a doubleheader sweep Saturday. In Wednesday’s 4-2 win over Philadelphia University in game one of a doubleheader sweep, Patrick Kelley (Central Bucks West) earned the win on the mound, allowing five hits and two runs while walking four and striking out seven in seven innings. In the Griffins’ 5-4 win in game two, DiBonaventure was 2-for-3 with an RBI and run scored. In Monday’s 8-7 win in extra innings over University of the Sciences in game two of a doubleheader sweep, DiBona was 3-for-4 with an RBI and run scored. DiBonaventure was 2-for-4 with a run scored. In the Griffins’ 3-1 win in game one, Vincent Case (William Tennent) had an RBI double.
Matt Matricardi (Upper Dublin) worked a one-two-three top of the seventh with a strikeout to earn his second win of the season in Kutztown’s 3-2 win over East Stroudsburg in game two of a doubleheader split on Saturday. In KU’s 3-1 extra-inning loss in game one, Matricardi and Ryan Clow (Central Bucks East) each pitched a scoreless inning of relief. In Wednesday’s 5-0 loss to Saint Thomas Aquinas, both Clow and Matricardi threw a scoreless inning in relief.
Matt Reinert (Souderton) was 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles, one RBI, two runs scored and two stolen bases in Wilkes University’s 6-3 win over Eastern in game two of a doubleheader split last Sunday. He finished the doubleheader 6-for-9 to raise his batting average to .429.
Redshirt senior Conner Crookham (Hatboro-Horsham) hit a leadoff double, moved to third on a wild pitch and scored the go-ahead run in the top of the ninth inning in East Stroudsburg’s 3-1 win over Kutztown in game one of a doubleheader split on Sunday. He finished the game 3-for-4 with a double and run scored. In Tuesday’s 12-6 loss to Bloomsburg in a doubleheader split, redshirt senior Casey Saverio (Hatboro-Horsham) had a pair of hits, including a two-run home run in the top of the third inning.
West Chester sophomore Jon Fisher (Plymouth Whitemarsh) was named the PSAC Eastern Division Co-Pitcher of the Week for the week ending April 2. Fisher tossed a five-hit complete game shutout to top host Shippensburg 1-0. The sophomore went seven strong innings while fanning seven and walking just one. So far this season, the right hander has compiled a team high 28 innings with a 0.64 earned run average. Opponents are only batting .204 against him. Additionally, he has produced a 32-7 strikeout-to-walk ratio.
Robert Knox (Upper Moreland) was 2-for-3 with a double and two runs and Jared Melone (North Penn) was 2-for-5 with two runs scored in No. 18 West Chester’s 16-4 rout of Millersville in game one of a doubleheader sweep on Sunday. In the Golden Rams’ 6-2 win in game two, Knox was 2-for-3 with a triple, RBI and two runs while Melone was 2-for-3 with an RBI. In Saturday’s 11-6 win over Millersville in game one of a twinbill split, Melone contributed a solo home run, and Fisher earned the win, allowing five hits and five earned runs over the course of six innings.
Freshman Cole Swiger (Upper Dublin) hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the seventh to give Bloomsburg an 8-6 walk-off win over Mansfield in game two of a doubleheader sweep on Sunday. Swiger finished the game 2-for-4 with two runs scored.
MEN’S GOLF
Cabrini junior Clay Anders (Souderton) finished in third place with a round of 75 at the Moravian College Spring Invitational on Wednesday. Cabrini also won team honors.
Tyler Sokolis (Central Bucks West) tied for 54th at 79-73-75/227 at the Princeton Invitational this weekend. St. Joseph’s finished in 10th place.
MEN’S LACROSSE
Princeton freshman Michael Sowers (Upper Dublin) earned his fourth Ivy League Rookie of the Week award, winning his second for the week ending April 2. Sowers had a five-goal, four-assist, nine-point game in Princeton’s 21-11 win over Brown. He had all four of his assists in the first half and all five of his goals in the second half.
Sowers had three goals and an assist in 13th-ranked Princeton’s 13-11 win over Stony Brook on Saturday night. Sowers now has 27 goals and 28 assists, and his 55 points ties Kevin Lowe (1991) for the most ever by a Princeton freshman. Earlier in the game, Sowers moved past Ryan Boyle, who had 53 points as a freshman in 2001. He needs just one goal to tie Mike Chanenchuk for the most goals ever by a Princeton freshman (28), and with three more goals and two more assists, he’d join David Tickner and Mike MacDonald as the only two players in program history with at least 30 goals and 30 assists in the same season.
Chris Fleming (Upper Moreland) had two goals and two assists in Misericordia’s 13-6 win over Manhattanville on Saturday. In Wednesday’s 7-6 win over Eastern, Fleming scored twice. The win snapped Eastern’s five-year unbeaten streak in the MAC Freedom.
Brett McDonald (Council Rock North) recorded eight saves and allowed just four goals in 50 minutes of action off the bench in Eastern University’s 12-8 win over DeSales University on Saturday. Sean Fechter (Pennridge) scored a goal.
Corey Kelley (Plymouth Whitemarsh) had three ground balls while freshman Evan Scott (Upper Dublin) had an assist in Ursinus College’s 13-3 win over McDaniel on Saturday.
Jacob Snavely (Council Rock South) had a career-high six goals in Gwynedd Mercy’s 27-4 win over Keystone on Saturday. Ryan Simpson (Council Rock South) added three scores.
Junior Anthony Paone (Central Bucks South) won 13-of-21 face-off attempts in Widener’s 10-8 loss to No. 12 Stevenson on Saturday.
WOMEN’S LACROSSE
Devon Mela (Council Rock North) had four goals in Albright’s 10-9 win over Lebanon Valley in overtime on Saturday. In Wednesday’s 17-11 win over Widener, Mela recorded a hat trick.
Brenda McDermott (North Penn) recorded her fourth straight hat trick in Temple’s 13-11 win over Villanova on Saturday. Amber Lambeth (Souderton) scored twice. In Wednesday’s 11-9 come-from-behind win at Cincinnati, McDermott had three goals and two assists. She scored all three goals in a 6-0 Owl run to close out the game, including the game-tying goal. Junior Chessie Rahmer (Souderton) scored a goal in East Stroudsburg’s 12-11 win at No. 18 Seton Hill on Saturday. In Friday’s 15-6 win at Edinboro, Rahmer contributed three goals and one assist while Lauren Green (North Penn) posted two goals and two assists. It was the fourth hat trick of the season for Rahmer, matching her total from her first two seasons. Rahmer shares the team lead with 23 goals, and she leads the team in points (31).
Senior Jamie Damirgian (Council Rock South) contributed a goal and an assist in Millersville’s 10-9 loss to Shippensburg on Tuesday.
Samantha Ryder (Pennridge) scored a career-high six goals in Philadelphia University’s 25-10 win at Nyack on Saturday. Alyssa Matthews (Pennsbury) had a six-point afternoon with two goals and four assists. In Wednesday’s 13-7 win over Kutztown, Ryder and Matthews each had a goal. In Tuesday’s 19-7 loss to Georgian Court, Ryder had three goals.
Emily Hawkins (Cheltenham) scored the 100th goal of her collegiate career in Keystone College’s 16-6 loss to Cabrini on Saturday. Hawkins became the first player in Keystone history to reach the 100-goal milestone by scoring at the 16:04 mark of the second half. The junior midfielder finished the day with a team-best three points. In Wednesday’s 18-7 loss to Neumann, Hawkins had a pair of goals and an assist. In Monday’s 12-9 win over Gwynedd Mercy, Hawkins had five goals and three assists.
Emily Schulze (North Penn) scored a goal during a late 4-0 run in West Chester’s 10-8 come-from-behind win over Slippery Rock on Saturday.
Makayla Bowman (North Penn) scored the game winner and her team’s fourth goal in the final eight minutes with 1:06 to play to cap Kutztown’s 8-7 win over Edinboro on Saturday afternoon. In Wednesday’s 13-7 loss at Philadelphia University, Bowman had a pair of goals.
Christy Knipe (Pennridge) had five caused turnovers and four ground balls in Gwynedd Mercy’s 20-9 win at Centenary on Wednesday. In Monday’s 12-9 loss to Keystone, Knipe collected a personal best eight ground balls.
Allison Hawkins (Cheltenham) had a pair of goals in Pitt’s 16-2 win over Carnegie-Mellon on Monday in WCLA action. Next up for Pitt is WCLA Regionals in Pontiac, Michigan, this Friday and Saturday.
Junior Allison Fugate (Pennridge) scored a goal in Shippensburg’s 9-8 loss at Gannon on Saturday. In Friday’s 16-7 loss to No. 10 Mercyhurst, Fugate scored a goal. In Tuesday’s 10-9 comeback victory at Millersville, Fugate and Kyra Shank (Souderton) both had one goal.

Redshirt senior Valerie Sadowl (Hatboro-Horsham) recorded a pair of hits in UConn’s 22-0 loss to Houston in a five-inning game on Sunday. In Wednesday’s 4-1 win over Hofstra in game one of a doubleheader split, Sadowl hit a solo home run – her fourth home run of the season.
Michelle Holweger (North Penn) hit a three-run home run in Lock Haven’s 4-3 loss to Bloomsburg in game two of a doubleheader split on Saturday. She finished the game 2-for-3 with three RBIs and a run scored. In Sunday’s 5-4 loss to Mansfield in game two of a doubleheader split, Holweger went 2-for-4 and drove in a pair of runs.
Freshman Jamie Gosselin (Abington) singled and scored the game’s only run in Widener’s 1-0 win over Hood in game one of a twinbill sweep on Saturday. In Widener’s 7-3 win in game two, Ally Horvath (Central Bucks South) was 3-for-4 with a triple and two runs scored and also earned the complete game win in the circle. Gosselin was 2-for-2 with an RBI and two runs scored. In Wednesday’s 1-0 win over Arcardia in game one of a doubleheader split, Gosselin’s bunt gave the Pride a walk-off win.
Freshman Meghan Klee (Quakertown) reached base four times, totaling three hits, two RBIs and a hit-by-pitch in Shippensburg’s doubleheader sweep of Goldey-Beacom on Sunday. In Saturday’s twinbill split at West Chester, junior Maddie Mulhall (Quakertown) had a pair of hits. In Wednesday’s doubleheader sweep at the hands of Shepherd, Mulhall had a pair of hits.
Senior Lauren Quense (Neshaminy) set a new career high with nine full innings pitched in one game, picking up her 15th win of the year in Fordham’s 5-3 win over George Mason in game one of a doubleheader sweep on Saturday. She limited George Mason to three runs on seven hits and three walks while fanning eight. In Fordham’s 5-2 win in game two, Quense was 2-for-4 with a double.
Alyssa Hughes (Pennridge) earned the win in the circle in Keystone’s 9-1 win over Rosemont in game one of a doubleheader split on Friday, allowing one run on five hits while striking out four in the complete game win.

In Monday’s 8-7 win over Marywood in game two of a doubleheader split, Canfield was 4-for-4 with a double and a pair of RBIs and runs scored. Becki Christoffers (North Penn) had a pair of hits.
Koraima Dudley (Neshaminy) was 2-for-2 with a double, two RBIs and three runs scored in Delaware Valley University’s 17-1 win over Brooklyn College in game one of a doubleheader sweep on Sunday. In Del Val’s 17-1 win in game two, Dudley was 2-for-3 with one RBI and two runs scored.
Junior Caitlin Brasier (Harry S Truman) smacked a two-run home run to lead Penn State Abington to a 4-1 win over Gallaudet in game one of a twinbill sweep on Sunday. Jessica Carp (Upper Dublin) closed out the scoring with a suicide squeeze sacrifice bunt. Emily Wrenn (Hatboro-Horsham) earned the win, allowing seven hits and one run while walking none and striking out three. In the Nittany Lions’ 13-0 win in game two, Brasier was 2-for-4 with a double, RBI and two runs, and teammate Becca Dougherty (Council Rock South) was 2-for-4 with a double, RBI and two runs. She also earned the shutout win in the circle in the abbreviated contest, allowing four hits while walking one and fanning three in five innings.
Millersville senior Heather Lutz (Hatboro-Horsham) was named PSAC East Softball Athlete of the Week for the week ending April 2 after recording 10 hits, seven RBIs and two home runs in six games. Lutz helped the Millersville softball team to a 4-2 record on the week while going 2-2 in conference play. In game two of a twinbill against Shippensburg, Lutz smashed two home runs that helped lift the Marauders to a 7-3 win and a split with the Raiders. The career leader in doubles for Millersville, Lutz hit a two-bagger in four of the six games, including two in the first game with USciences. She boasts a batting average of .393, leading the team in walks, hit-by-pitch, runs scored and doubles. She scored seven runs in the last six games.
Lutz was 2-for-6 with an RBI and two runs scored in Kutztown’s doubleheader sweep at the hands of West Chester on Sunday.
Jovanna Alfonsi (North Penn) was 2-for-4 with an RBI in Philadelphia University’s 7-0 win over University of the Sciences in game one of a twinbill sweep on Tuesday. In Saturday’s 3-2 loss to Bloomfield in game one of a doubleheader, Alfonsi contributed an RBI double. In Philly U’s 2-1 loss in game two, Alfonsi was 2-for-2 with a double and RBI.
La Salle senior Mackenzie Obert (Pennsbury) was named Atlantic-10 Co-Player of the Week for the week ending April 2. Obert hit .500 (6-for-12) with three homers and six RBIs as La Salle took two of three at St. Bonaventure after a mid-week game at Villanova. The senior had two homers and four RBIs in the doubleheader at St. Bonaventure after smacking a double and home run at Villanova. The senior slugged 1.333 through the four games, tallied a .625 on-base percentage and scored five runs.
Suzanne Swanicke (Pennsbury) had an RBI single in La Salle’s 5-2 win over George Washington in game one of a doubleheader split on Saturday. Angelina Refice (Central Bucks West) was 1-for-2 with two runs scored. In La Salle’s 13-2 loss to GW in game two, Swanicke homered in the fourth for the Explorers’ only runs. In La Salle’s 3-0 win over Lafayette in game one of a doubleheader split on Wednesday, Swanicke was 2-for-3 with a run scored. Obert singled and scored a run. In the Explorers’ 3-2 loss in game two, Refice and Christina Bascara (Pennsbury) were both 2-for-3.
Sara Keeny (William Tennent) was 2-for-3 with an RBI and three runs scored and Cheyenne Jones (Harry S Truman) was 2-for-4 with a double, home run, three RBIs and a run scored in Kutztown’s 8-4 win over Millersville in game one of a twinbill sweep Saturday. In KU’s 11-2 win in game two, Keeny was 2-for-3 with two runs while Jones was 2-for-4 with a double, home run, two RBIs and two runs. The doubleheader sweep upped KU’s winning streak to 11 straight. In Wednesday’s 4-2 win over East Stroudsburg in game one of a twinbill sweep, Jones hit a three-run home run – her third round tripper of the year. Angie Carty (Souderton) scored on a two-out double steal. Keeny stole bases in each game Wednesday, including the 50th of her career, but an 0-for-1 opener with two walks ended a career high 16-game hitting streak for the sophomore.

WOMEN’S TENNIS
Honora Hegarty (Abington) earned a 6-2, 6-1 win at first singles and Stephanie Jin (Abington) was a 6-0, 6-2 winner at second singles in Penn State Abington’s 9-0 win over Wells College on Sunday. Hegerty also was part of an 8-3 win at first singles, and Jin was on the second doubles team that notched an 8-2 win. In Wednesday’s 9-0 win over St. Elizabeth, Hegerty (6-0, 6-0) and Jin (6-0, 6-0) were winners at first and second singles respectively. Hegerty and Jin were also part of 8-0 wins at first and second doubles.
MEN’S TRACK & FIELD
University of Pittsburgh senior Chris Spadaro (Council Rock South) finished fifth in the long jump (7.03m) and fourth in the triple jump (14.74m) at the Hurricane Alumni Invitational on Saturday. His triple jump mark was a season-best.
Freshman David Bryant (Upper Dublin) was part of St. Joseph’s winning 4×100 relay team that posted a time of 43.15 at the Rider Invitational on Saturday.
Bloomsburg senior James Wilson (Central Bucks West) had a pair of top 10 finishes in both the 800m run and the 1500m run at the Moravian College Coach P Open on Saturday. He finished 10th in the 800m run with a time of 2:00.10 and then placed eighth in the 1500m run with a time of 4:09.51. Junior Alex Moran (Pennridge) was 10th in the 400m hurdles with a time of 58.50 and was 11th in the 110m hurdles, crossing the finish line in 16.54 during the preliminaries. Freshman Matthew Hart (Pennsbury) was seventh in the hammer throw with a mark of 38.89 meters. Hart also placed 13th overall in the javelin with a mark of 44.59m.
La Salle’s Chris Trimble (North Penn) and Joseph Leconey (North Penn) finished in 22nd and 23rd place overall in the 800m at the Sam Howell Princeton Invitational this weekend. Trimble posted a time of 1:59.42 while Leconey was just behind, crossing the finish line with a time of 1:59.67.
Widener sophomore Sean Stovall (Springfield) finished second with a time of 57.41 in the 400m intermediate hurdles at the West Chester Invitational on Saturday.
West Chester’s Shawn Young (Central Bucks West) finished third in the 400m hurdles (58.76) at the WCU Invitational on Saturday.
WOMEN’S TRACK & FIELD
Sophomore Allison Taub (Council Rock South) led the women’s shot put at 13.79m as Monmouth held seven of the top nine spots at the Sam Howell Invitational at Princeton University this weekend.
Duquesne sophomore Shannon Taub (Council Rock South) finished sixth in the triple jump with a mark of 37-9 at the 2017 Colonial Relays hosted by the College of William and Mary last weekend.
Bloomsburg senior Keelan McDonald (Central Bucks West) and Jessica Quesenberry (Wissahickon) placed fourth and fifth respectively in the 1500m run at the Moravian College Coach P Open on Saturday, posting times of 4:53.60 and 4:55.20. Freshman Jessica Milligan (Pennridge) was third in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:06.18.
Temple’s Sydnee Jacques (North Penn) finished third in the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.88 at the 2017 Delaware Open on Sunday. Freshman Megan Schneider (Hatboro-Horsham) posted a time of 10:50.18 in the 3000m race.
Moravian junior Casie Cronk (Quakertown) was seventh in the high jump at 1.55 meters (5-1) while junior Beth Ann Davies (Quakertown) was seventh in the pole vault at a height of 2.90m (9-6.25) at the Eighth Annual Coach P Invitational this weekend.
Widener junior Allison Gallagher (Souderton) finished fourth in the 400m intermediate hurdles with a time of 1:11.54 at the West Chester Invitational on Saturday.
La Salle’s Kaitlin Poiesz (Central Bucks South) competed in the 1500m, finishing in a time of 4:47.35 at the Sam Howell Princeton Invitational. Alyssa Quinn (Hatboro-Horsham) posted a time of 5:41.36 in the 1500m run at the Rider Invitational.
West Chester junior Emily Magnant (Hatboro-Horsham) was named the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Track Athlete of the Week for Division II after her performance at the 34th Millersville Metrics. Magnant played a significant role in West Chester winning the meet. She finished first in the 200m dash (25.67). She also participated in both the 4×100 and 4×400 relays that claimed the top spot. The ‘A’ squad clocked a 48.83 in the 4×100 while the 4×400 crossed the finish line with a time of 3:58.57.
West Chester’s Dara Lindsey (Central Bucks East) finished second in the 400m dash with a time of 59.27 at the WCU Invitational on Saturday. Magnant and Jasmine Noble (Central Bucks South) finished in third and fourth place in the 100m dash. Caroline DiJiosia (Plymouth Whitemarsh) finished third in the 100m hurdles (15.71) and also was third in the long jump.
Shippensburg junior Lindsay Sheehan (Pennridge) picked up PSAC qualifying times in both the 100 meters (12.68) and the 200 meters (26.10) at the 2017 George Mason Spring Invitational on Saturday. She was part of the 4×100 relay that posted a time of 49.20 and finished sixth.
MEN’S VOLLEYBALL
Senior co-captain Christian Lizana (Pennridge) contributed 11 digs, nine kills, four blocks and one ace in No. 2 Vassar College’s 3-0 win over Hunter College on Saturday. With its pair of wins on Saturday, Vassar broke the all-time record for consecutive wins with 14.
Daniel Ford (Council Rock North) contributed 47 assists in Saint Francis University’s 3-2 win over Harvard on Friday night. In Saturday’s 3-1 win over Sacred Heart, Ford had 46 assists.
Austin Rush (Pennridge) had a team-best 12 digs in Alvernia’s 3-0 loss to Stevenson on Tuesday.
Senior Michael Fehrs (Central Bucks West) recorded a team-high 16 kills, tying his career best, in Stevenson’s 3-0 win over Eastern Mennonite on Saturday.
