BASEBALL
Sophomore Justin Andrews (Neshaminy) retired the side in order in the ninth to record his seventh save in Monmouth’s 5-4 win over UMass Lowell on Friday. In Tuesday’s 5-4 win over Hofstra in 13 innings, Andrews threw 2.2 shutout innings, allowing two hits, walking two and striking out five. Starter Joe Molettiere (Pennridge) allowed three hits and one run in six innings.
Northampton freshman Colton Hooker (Upper Moreland) has been named Male Athlete of the Year as announced by the athletic department at its annual awards banquet. Hooker led the Spartans in home runs with nine and RBIs with 39 while batting .290 and earning a spot on the All-Region team and All-EPAC squad. Hooker scored 29 runs, added six doubles and had a slugging percentage of .543. The first baseman appeared in all 40 games as Northampton finished 27-13, advancing to the Region XIX Final Four and capturing their fourth EPAC title in five seasons.
Ryan Kelly (Hatboro-Horsham) pitched a scoreless ninth and picked up his eighth save of the season in St. Joseph’s 4-1 win over St. Bonaventure on Thursday.
Chestnut Hill sophomore pitcher Patrick Kelley (Central Bucks West) was named to the 2016 CACC Baseball Championship All-Tournament Team. In the Griffins’ second contest of the CACC quarterfinal round, Kelley took the loss for the Griffins despite allowing only one run on four hits and six walks. He struck out seven in six innings of work. Kelley finished the 2016 regular season tied for second in the CACC for wins (six) and ranked fourth in strikeouts (72). He earned his 6-4 record on a 3.72 ERA over 67.2 innings of work and nearly doubled his walk total (42) with his 79 strikeouts. Kelley recorded two games with double-digit strikeouts.
Tyler Coleman (Quakertown) had a pair of hits and one RBI in 17th-ranked West Chester’s 12-6 win over Chowan in the NCAA Division II Baseball Atlantic Regional on Thursday in West Lawn, Pa. In Friday’s 6-1 loss to No. 18 Mercyhurst in a second round matchup, Coleman had one hit.
East Stroudsburg redshirt junior Connor Crookham (Hatboro-Horsham) was named to the NCBWA Division II All-Atlantic Region second team. Crookham entered the NCAA Tournament hitting .357 with an on-base percentage of .451 and a slugging percentage of .664 with 51 hits, including 12 doubles, one triple and 10 home runs. He had 48 RBIs, 43 runs, 25 walks, three HBP and was 4-for-5 in stolen bases in 46 games (44 starts).
Crookham recorded the final three outs in East Stroudsburg’s 3-0 win over Seton Hill in an elimination game of the NCAA DII Atlantic Regional on Saturday. Crookham, ESU’s All-PSAC East first team shortstop, made his third appearance on the mound this season. He picked up his second save of the season and the third of his career in six relief appearances. In Friday’s 19-2 win over Chowan, Crookham had a two-run double. He finished with three RBIs and two runs scored. Casey Saverio (Hatboro-Horsham) was 2-for-4 with a double, RBI and two runs.
WOMEN’S LACROSSE
Senior Kelly Cross (Upper Dublin) tallied the game winner in the first overtime period to propel No. 4 Syracuse to a 12-11 win over No. 5 USC in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Women’s Lacrosse Tournament, punching the Orange’s ticket to the national semifinals. Cross scored a pair of goals in the win. It is Syracuse’s seventh trip to the national semifinals in the last nine years. The loss was the first of the season for USC, which entered the game with a 20-0 record. Syracuse will take on No. 1 Maryland in a semifinal game on Friday at Talen Energy Stadium in Chester, Pa.
University of Louisville senior Cortnee Daley (Hatboro-Horsham) received Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Association All-West/Midwest Region first team honors. A co-captain, Daley was second on the team with 50 points, scoring 40 goals while also contributing 10 assists. She also led the team in caused turnovers with 20 and ranks second on the team in ground balls with 32. Daley has tallied eight hat tricks this season, including three game-winning goals. For her career, Daley scored 154 goals and dished out 23 assists.
SOFTBALL
Penn State Berks freshman Jessica Rozick (Bensalem) was selected as the NEAC South Pitcher of the Year. The Bensalem grad went 14-1 in 15 complete games with seven shutouts and 136 strikeouts while holding her opponents to a .166 batting average, helping her top the conference in all five categories. She sported a 0.89 ERA, which is also the top mark amongst pitchers with at least 10 starts, to go with the second-best mark of 9.30 strikeouts per game while giving up just 19 walks in 102.1 innings pitched. Rozick tossed three no-hitters and recorded eight or more strikeouts in 12 contests, including seven games in double figures that featured a single-game program record of 15 en route to setting the single season Berks mark for strikeouts. A four-time NEAC Pitcher of the Week honoree, including the week ending May 1 after she tossed a perfect game, Rozick also placed on the All-Conference second team.
Widener junior Ally Horvath (Central Bucks South) was named to the National Fastpitch Coaches
Association (NFCA) All-East Region second team. Horvath was an at-large selection after spending time in the outfield as well as in the circle this past year. As the team’s primary leadoff hitter, Horvath led the league and set a single season program record by stealing 35 bases, which shattered the previous standard of 17 established in 1994. Horvath also registered a single season program record 60 hits, which ranks fourth in the league, while also scoring 37 runs and batting .400. She ended the spring on fire by going 7-for-13 with two doubles, one triple, two runs batted in, three stolen bases at the plate at the MAC Commonwealth Tournament while also earning the victory in the circle in the 3-2 win over Hood to help advance the Pride to the championship game.
Lehigh senior third baseman Morgan Decker (Central Bucks South) has been named to the NFCA Mid-
Atlantic Region second team. It is her third all-region recognition in four years after becoming a four-time All-Patriot League selection. Decker started all 52 games for the Mountain Hawks in 2016 and started all but two games in her decorated career. In a torrid start to her senior season, Decker drove in eight runs in her first two games and spent most of the year above .400 before finishing at .382. Decker led the Patriot League with a .511 on-base percentage, 33 walks and tied for the league lead with six home runs. Her 16 doubles, 36 RBIs and .618 slugging percentage also ranked among the Patriot League leaders. She previously earned all-region honors in 2013 and 2014 when she collected her two Patriot League Player of the Year awards. Decker was also the league’s Rookie of the Year in 2013. She is now a four-time All-Patriot League selection with two first team honors and a pair of second team nods. Earlier this year, Decker became Lehigh’s career leader in home runs when she hit her 26th in a win over Albany on March 6. Decker finished with 28 home runs and also holds the Patriot League’s career walks record with 121. Her 161 career RBIs ranks third in school and league annals, four short of the record. The Mountain Hawks finished the 2016 season 36-16 and won their fifth consecutive Patriot League regular season championship. Lehigh reached the 30-win mark for the 16th consecutive season and went 5-for-6 in 11 games against teams that qualified for the NCAA Tournament.
Arcardia University softball freshman Jackie Bilotti (North Penn) has been named to the National
Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-East Region Third Team as an at-large selections. As the program’s first All-Region selection since having two following the 2006 season, Bilotti also was named to the All-MAC Commonwealth first team as well as being named the MAC Commonwealth Rookie of the Year. The North Penn graduate led the Knights with a .419 batting average in 35 games played. She recorded team highs in doubles (16), triples (2), slugging percentage (.590) and on-base percentage (.462) while tying for the team lead in runs scored with 31 and driving in 27 runs. Defensively, she held a .958 fielding percentage. Bilotti ranks in the top 10 on Arcardia’s single season records list in doubles, stolen bases (17), and assists (5) following a 25-19 season for Arcadia that resulted in a MAC Commonwealth Championship Tournament appearance and the program’s first ever Eastern College Athletic Conference Championship.
MEN’S TRACK & FIELD
IUP sophomore Austin Cooper (Upper Merion) was named All-Atlantic Region by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Association (USTFCCCA). It is the second straight year that Cooper has earned all-region in both the 800 and 1500. He’s a two-time PSAC Outdoor champion in the 1500 and has finished in second place in the 800 in each of his two conference outdoor championship meets. His 1500m time of 3:51.39 ranks 50th in the nation while his 1:52.77 time in the 800 at the PSAC meet was a career best. Cooper also was named IUP Athlete of the Week for the week ending May 15 after taking home the title in the 1500m at the PSAC Outdoor Championships.
Kutztown sophomore Brandon Raguz (Central Bucks South) received 2016 U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Atlantic All-Region honors. Raguz finished second in the pole vault at the PSAC Outdoor Championships, earning All-PSAC honors. It was a strong finish to the year for Raguz, who finished first at two meets – ESU’s Paul Kaiser Classic and All-American meet – and third at the Penn Relays with a career-best mark of 4.85 (15-11), the eighth best mark in school history.
East Stroudsburg senior Eric Conard (Souderton) was named to the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Atlantic Region team for the 2016 outdoor track and field season. It is Conard’s third all-region selection. He was recognized for his efforts in the decathlon. He finished third in the PSAC with 6,117 points. His 6209 points is ESU’s number seven score in program history.
WOMEN’S TRACK & FIELD
Junior Tyra Roberts (Bensalem) led the way for Alvernia University’s track and field day at the ECAC Championships. The Bensalem graduate had a record day, taking silver in the women’s shot put with a distance of 14.12m, setting a personal and program record with the mark. Roberts held the previous school record of 13.18m, which she set at the ECAC Championships in 2014. Her mark currently ranks sixth nationally in the NCAA.
Ursinus junior Erin Farrell (Neshaminy) was named to the All-Centennial Conference first team for the second straight season after defending her 200m dash title. The Neshaminy graduate is the second Ursinus woman to capture back-to-back gold medals in the 200 at the outdoor conference meet, joining three-time champion Amanda Laurito, who accomplished the feat from 2011-13. The junior, who has also won the last two indoor 200 crowns, edged Swarthmore’s Kayla Camacho by just one hundredth of a second with an ECAC qualifier of 25.91.
Kaitlyn Lutz (Upper Merion), Emily Makara (Council Rock South) and Zakiyyah Richardson (Council Rock South) were part of Gwynedd Mercy’s 4×800 relay team that finished in a season best time of 9:46.04, placing 15th overall at the ECAC Track & Field Championships. Richardson closed her career as the former All American ran in the 100m but just missed the finals, clocking in with a 12.80 in the preliminaries.
Moravian junior Sarah Hughes (Souderton) and sophomores Beth Ann Davies (Quakertown) and Casie Cronk (Quakertown) were named to the 2016 Landmark Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll. The honor roll recognizes all spring student-athletes of sophomore standing or older with a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher.
