BASEBALL
For the second consecutive year, Delaware Valley University centerfielder Kyle Wenger (Souderton) has been named to the 2014 D3baseball.com All-Mid-Atlantic Region First Team. Wenger, a sophomore who was the 2015 Freedom Conference Player of the Year, started all 36 games for the Aggies and batted .432 while leading the team in slugging percentage (.712), on-base percentage (.517), hits (51), runs scored (36), RBIs (29), stolen bases (22), doubles (8), triples (5), and home runs (5). Wenger had at least one hit in all but four games and had 15 multiple-hit contests. He scored two or more runs nine times and knocked in multiple runs on seven occasions. Wenger will now appear on the D3baseball.com All-America ballot. He was a preseason All-America pick after placing in the top 15 in all of Division III in three separate categories as a freshman. He was third in batting (.479), fourth in on-base percentage (.551) and 12th in slugging (.744).
Elizabethtown College senior Kristopher Davis (Central Bucks East) was named to the D3baseball.com All-Mid-Atlantic Region third team. Davis was 7-1 with a 2.53 earned run average to lead Elizabethtown to the conference semifinals this season. He led the Landmark in wins, innings pitched (64.0), strikeouts, strikeouts per game (7.73), strikeout-to-walk ratio (9.17), walks allowed per nine innings (0.84) and was tied for first in games started (nine). The CB East alum, who graduated with a biology degree (allied health concentration), ranked eighth in NCAA Division III in K:BB ratio (55:6) and his walks allowed per nine innings were the 13th fewest in the nation. Davis exits the program having thrown 203.2 innings in his career, 10th most all-time. The righty is the sixth pitcher in the program history to be named conference Pitcher of the Year. Davis was named to the All-Landmark first team along with his Pitcher of the Year honor in 2015 after being named All-Commonwealth Conference Honorable Mention as a junior. He is a candidate for the Landmark Baseball Scholar-Athlete Award.
Penn State Abington sophomore shortstop Max German (Council Rock North) was named to the 2015 ABCA/Rawlings All-Mid-Atlantic Region second team. The Council Rock North graduate, who played his first season with the Nittany Lions, finished the 2015 campaign with a batting average of .396, 59 hits and 38 RBIs. He was named to the All-NEAC first team. He led the conference in hits (59) and total bases (89). He was second in the NEAC in RBIs, second in stolen bases and fourth in batting average.
Moravian College senior rightfielder Matt Hanson (Central Bucks West) was named to the 2015 D3baseball.com All-Mid-Atlantic Region third team. A Landmark All-Conference first team selection for the third straight season, Hanson hit .355 with 55 hits, 29 runs, eight doubles, two triples, one homer, 32 RBIs, 13 walks and 22 stolen bases. Hanson – who was the 2014 Landmark Conference, ECAC Division III South and D3baseball.com Mid-Atlantic Region Player of the Year while earning D3baseball.com second team and American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings Third Team All-America honors – set new school records in games played with 160, runs scored with 142 and stolen bases with 62, and he finished his career ranked in the top 10 all-time in at-bats with 562 (second), hits with 210 (second), batting average at .374 (third), RBIs with 116 (fourth), doubles with 39 (fourth), triples with 11 (third), total bases with 283 (second), on-base percentage at .456 (second), slugging percentage at .504 (fifth), walks with 62 (seventh) and hit-by-pitch with 30 (tied for second).
Moravian College freshman pitcher Dan Morrin (Central Bucks East) has been selected to the 2015 American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings Division II Mid-Atlantic All-Region Second Team. The CB East graduate, who also was named to the Landmark All-Conference second team, helped the Greyhounds to a 21-20 record this spring as the squad earned the second seed in the 2015 Landmark Conference Tournament with a 13-8 regular season slate in conference play. Moravian hosted and won a Landmark semifinal series versus third seed Elizabethtown with Morrin tossing a complete game victory in the opening contest. The Blue & Grey also hosted fourth seed, The Catholic University of America, in the championship series with Morrin once again opening the series with a victory on the mound. In his debut season with the Hounds, Morrin appeared in 11 games with 10 starts, and he posted a 6-1 record, including four complete games and one shutout. Morrin had a 1.71 ERA for the spring with 12 walks and 41 strikeouts in 63.1 innings of action. In Landmark Conference action, Morrin was 3-1 in seven starts with a 1.55 ERA, 11 walks and 24 strikeouts in 40.2 innings. Morrin’s 1.71 ERA is the sixth best in school history for a single season, and his six wins are tied for eighth most in a season while his .857 winning percentage is tied for fourth. Morrin will continue to pitch this summer as a member of the Quakertown Blazers in the Atlantic Collegiate Baseball League.
Widener sophomore centerfielder Greg McDonough (Wissahickon) was named to the ABCA/Rawlings Mid-Atlantic All-Region third team as announced by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA). The Wissahickon graduate led the Pride in five categories. The sophomore centerfielder recorded 16 doubles, 26 stolen bases, two triples, 12 hit-by-pitches and 37 RBIs. He was second on the team in hits with 52, total bases with 75 and at-bats with 157. McDonough was also third on the team with 25 runs scored and one home run. The sophomore earned Capital One All-District 4 first team honors and was an All-Commonwealth first team nod.
West Chester University senior shortstop Dylan Tice (Pennridge) was named second team All-Atlantic Region by the American Baseball Coaches Association. Tice, a Tino Martinez Award semifinalist which is handed out to the Division II national player of the year, hit .433 on the year (65-for-150) with 16 doubles, five triples and 11 home runs while striking out just seven times in 188 plate appearances. Tice also scored 59 runs on the year. He authored an .827 slugging percentage and a .548 on-base percentage offensively and only made 13 errors in the field (.935 fielding percentage). He was also named first team All-PSAC East as well as being tabbed the loop’s player of the year while also garnering all-region honors by Daktronics, Inc.

MEN’S BASKETBALL
Adam Fisher (Central Bucks East) has been promoted to an assistant coach at the University of Miami. The Central Bucks East graduate spent two seasons as the Director of Basketball Operations for the Miami Hurricanes and was the Camp Director for the Jim Larranaga Basketball Camps. In his second season with the Canes, Miami played in the championship game of the NIT in Madison Square Garden. Fisher came to Miami in June of 2013 after spending two seasons at his alma mater, Penn State University. He served as video coordinator in his first season with the Nittany Lions, then was promoted to Director of Player Development in 2012. Prior to PSU, Fisher served the previous two seasons as director of basketball operations at Boston University, helping the Terriers to back-to-back 21-win seasons and postseason appearances both years. The Terriers went 21-14 in 2010-11, winning the America East Conference Championship and advancing to their first NCAA Tournament since 2002. The Terriers also went 21-14 in 2009-10 and earned a CBI tournament berth, reaching the semifinals. Fisher worked under two-time BIG EAST Coach of the Year Jay Wright at Villanova from 2007-09 as a graduate assistant, serving as an assistant recruiting coordinator while earning his master’s degree in education leadership. In those two seasons, the Wildcats reached the Sweet 16 in 2008, then won the East Regional in 2009 to advance to the Final Four with a school record 30 wins. Fisher also assisted Villanova’s director of basketball operations and worked as the assistant camp coordinator in the summers of 2007 and 2008. The Jamison, Pa., native graduated from Penn State with a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology in 2006. While at Penn State, he worked three seasons as head student manager for the Nittany Lions, then one season as a graduate manager. In those roles, he assisted with player workouts, handled administrative duties and helped with team travel. Fisher replaces Eric Konkol, who was named the head basketball coach at Louisiana Tech.

MEN’S LACROSSE
Cabrini senior Patrick Nolan (Plymouth Whitemarsh) received 2015 Division II All-American honorable mention recognition. It was the first All-American honor of his career after anchoring one of the nation’s top defensive units. The senior led the Cavaliers with 28 caused turnovers and scooped 24 ground balls on the nation’s eighth-ranked scoring defense. During his four years, Nolan caused 35 turnovers and had 41 ground balls. The senior also added two goals and two assists.

Anthony Giaquinto (Central Bucks South) and Mike Lam (Neshaminy) were named to Penn State Abington’s 2015 Director’s List after completing the spring semester with a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
WOMEN’S LACROSSE
Holy Family University senior Kimber Kisselback (Neshaminy) and Shane King were named the Holy Family Athletes of the Year, chosen by the Northeast Times sports department in conjunction with Holy Family. Both athletes were recognized at the 30th annual Northeast Sports Awards Banquet on Wednesday night. Kisselback had a memorable senior year, earning All-CACC honors in both soccer and lacrosse, becoming the first student-athlete in Holy Family history to receive postseason recognition by the conference in multiple sports in the same academic year. In the fall, Kisselback helped lead the Tigers to a 10-5-1 overall record and a 9-3-0 mark in the CACC. The team earned the third seed in the CACC tournament, marking the program’s 16th straight appearance. Kisselback had a career season as she set new career marks in goals (8), points (21), shots (74), shots on goal (37) and game-winning scores (5). As a result, she earned All-CACC first team honors and was selected to the NSCAA All-East Region second team for the first time in her career. Kisselback also was named to the CoSIDA/Capital One Academic All-District I first team for her performance not only on the field of play but in the classroom as well. This past spring, Kisselback was one of the lacrosse team’s key components on defense. She led the team with a career high 26 caused turnovers and in the process became the program’s all-time leader in that category. She finished her career with 58 caused turnovers. In addition, Kisselback set new career marks in goals (4), assists (2), points (6) and ground balls (43). Kisselback went on to receive All-CACC honors for the second straight season in lacrosse, earning second team accolades. Holy Family capped the 2015 season with its third CACC Championship in four seasons as the Tigers defeated Georgian Court University 8-6 in this year’s title game. The Tigers finished the season 14-3 overall and a perfect 8-0 in conference action. Kisselback was part of a senior class that finished their careers with a 50-21 record and three conference championships in four appearances.

Junior Morgan Decker (Central Bucks South) contributed an RBI double in Lehigh University’s 3-0 win over Central Arkansas in an elimination game in the Norman Regional of the NCAA Tournament last Saturday in Norman, Okla. Lehigh saw its season end when the Mountain Hawks fell to Texas A&M 2-1 last Sunday.

MEN’S TRACK & FIELD
University of Pennsylvania freshman Ross Wilson (Council Rock North) just missed out on the scoring in the men’s steeplechase at the ECAC/IC4A Championships last weekend, but he did not miss a chance to enter the school record book. He finished ninth and became just the 10th man in Penn history to break nine minutes in the event. His time of 8:59.83 ranks 10th in program history and is the fifth fastest time for any Penn man since 1980.
Johns Hopkins senior Michael Spadaro (Council Rock South) totaled 6468 points in
the decathlon at the NCAA Championships in Canton, N.Y., to finish in 10th place while earning a spot in the Hopkins record books as the finish marked a Hopkins record for points in the event. The CR North native started the day with a 16:05 time in the 110m hurdles before following it with a 35.15m (115-4.00) mark in the discus. Spadaro nabbed 617 points in the pole vault after vaulting 4.00m (13-1.5). He combined for 1065 points in his final two events, the javelin throw and 1500 meter run, as he threw the spear 44.83m (147-01) before posting a 5:01.12 time in the distance run. One day earlier, Spadaro finished first in his heat in the 100m dash, crossing the finish line in 11.33. In the long jump, Spadaro put up a 6.69m (21-11.39) mark, sixth among participants. Following that performance, Spadaro excelled in the shot put as his first tossed matched his Centennial Conference Championship mark of 11.73m (38-6.00). On his second toss, Spadaro notched a personal record of 12.28m (40-3.5), good for fourth in the event, which put him in sixth as he headed into the final two events of the day. The final two events saw Spadaro post a mark of 1.88m (6-0.2) in the high jump while finishing the 400m dash with a time of 53.92.
IUP freshman Austin Cooper (Upper Merion) earned All-Atlantic Region honors in both the 800 and 1500 meters. The freshman was one of five runners from the Atlantic Region recognized in the 1500 meters after a season highlighted by an individual title in the event at the 2015 PSAC Outdoor Championships. He finished the championships with a season best time of 3:55.45. In the 800, Cooper finished second overall at the PSAC Championships, finishing just 0.18 shy of another conference title with a time of 1:53.05. He ran a season-best 1:52.31 at the Allegheny Gator Invitational, which was an NCAA Division II provisional qualifying time.
Senior Matthew McGarvey (Central Bucks West) was part of Saint Joseph’s 4x800m relay team that won the gold medal with a time of 7:28.08 at the 2015 IC4A Outdoor Championships hosted by Princeton University. The performance marked Saint Joe’s second 4×8 IC4A outdoor title in program history and first since 2002.
WOMEN’S TRACK & FIELD
Bloomsburg University senior Kate Dodds (Upper Dublin) captured third place in the 10k final on Thursday at the NCAA Division II national championships at Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Mich. It was the best ever finish for a Bloomsburg female t
rack and field athlete. She ran the 25 laps of the race in 34:52.26, shattering her own school record by 36 seconds. For her performance, she earned All-American recognition and was named to the Capital One/CoSIDA All-District 2 women’s cross country/track and field team on Friday. On Saturday, she finished 15th in the 5,000m final. One day after earning All-American honors at the NCAA Division II Track and Field Championships, Dodds was named to the Capital One/CoSiSA Academic All-District Two women’s track and field/cross country team. Dodds, a psychology major, has a 3.53 GPA, and she will now go on to the national ballot for a chance to earn Academic All-American honors. “Kate has blossomed into an excellent runner,” coach Bernie Empie said. “I’m equally proud of her work in the classroom. She continues to work hard to achieve in her major and ultimately that will pay off for her future profession.” Dodds earned All-American honors in cross country in the fall and then went on to win the 3k and 5k championships at the PSAC Indoor Track and Field Championships while earning the Most Outstanding Athlete honor. In the spring, she won the PSAC 5k championship and was named All-Region by the USTFCCCCA for the indoor and outdoor seasons.
Temple sophomore Sydnee Jacques (North Penn) finished 10th in the triple jump with a mark of 11.65m on the first day of the American Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships last weekend.
Saint Joseph’s hurdler Kayla Charles (North Penn) capped an outstanding senior campaign with a 100m hurdles time of 14.67, good for 28th overall at the 2015 ECAC Outdoor Championships hosted by Princeton University this weekend.
Widener senior Amber Char (William Tennent) was named to the 2015 Capital One Academic All-District first team. Selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America, the Academic All-District teams were released to recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. It is the first time in her career Char has earned the distinction. This year’s Middle Atlantic Conference champion in the pole vault with a final jump of 3.37 meters (11’0.75”), the biology major finished her career with a GPA of 3.91. She also won the same event at the Widener Invitational, vaulting a best height of 3.42 meters (11’-2.50”).
