This distinction makes the senior the first Golden Ram baseball player since current Tampa Bay Ray Joe Wendle to earn First All-America honors by the ABCA, National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA), and the College Commissioners Association (CCA) in the same season. Melone has now earned First Team All-American honors from the ABCA/Rawlings in each of his last two seasons, and the North Penn graduate is now the only two-time ABCA/Rawlings First Team All-American in program history dating back to the DII awards inception in 1969. Melone is the lone position player from the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) to find a spot in on the squad. A three-time regional player of the year winner this season and the 2019 PSAC East Athlete of the Year, Melone led the conference and ranked fourth across DII with a .438 batting average in 47 starts.
