Recent Kutztown University graduate Taylor Thames (North Penn) was named to the Division 2 Athletics Directors Association (D2ADA) Academic Achievement Award list. In order to be eligible, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale, have attended a minimum of two years of college level work and been an active member of an intercollegiate team during his/her last academic year.
MEN’S CROSS COUNTRY
Bucknell junior Connor McMenamin (Souderton) finished 11th with a time of 18:30.40 on the 6K course at the Pitt Panther Open on Friday.
Penn State Abington sophomore Ben Hoyer (Wissahickon) finished first in the men’s 4K with a time of 13:42 at the Highlander Invitational on Friday.
Ursinus junior Daniel Powell (Central Bucks East) finished 15th with a time of 18:13.14 at the season-opening Bryn Mawr Invitational on Friday.
Gwynedd Mercy freshman Thomas Balla (Bensalem) posted a time of 20:49.54 on the 5K course at the Bryn Mawr College Invitational held at the Rose Tree Park on Friday.

Gwynedd Mercy sophomore Emily Stewart (Upper Dublin) was the top Griffin finisher at the Bryn Mawr College Invitational Friday with a time of 24:36.17 on the 5K course.
Widener sophomore Grace Murphy (Upper Dublin) posted a time of 22:17 at the Haverford Open on Saturday.
FIELD HOCKEY
Sophomore Riley Donnelly (Central Bucks East) scored her first collegiate goal in Maryland’s 5-1 win over Richmond in its season opener. Maryland was ranked No. 2 in the Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I Coaches Preseason poll. The Terrapins have been ranked in the top five in 207 of 214 polls, dating back to 1999.
Junior Anna Lehman (Council Rock North) scored the game’s only goal in Lehigh’s 1-0 win over Rider on Friday. The goal came during penalty corner play. The win was Lehigh’s first season-opening road win since 2002, and it was the program’s first win at Rider since 2000.
Providence College graduate student Corinne Kenney (Central Bucks South) was named to the 2019 Preseason All-BIG EAST Team. The CB South alum earned All-BIG EAST first team honors and was also named to the NFHCA Division I All-Northeast Region first team in 2018. Kenney, a defensive back, started all 19 games for the Friars last year and tallied a single-season career high in points (five) and assists (five). She earned a spot in the Victory Sports Tours/NFHCA Senior Game and was named to the NFHCA Division I National Academic Squad and BIG EAST All-Academic Team.
Abigail Geisler (Neshaminy) scored a pair of goals in Eastern University’s 4-1 win over Albright on Friday.
Seniors Anna Hall (Central Bucks West) and Erin Sayboldt (Souderton) each contributed an assist in No. 19 Ursinus College’s 5-4 loss to No. 3 Rowan on Friday.
Freshman Kennedy Reardon (Plymouth Whitemarsh) came off the bench to score her first collegiate goal in the third quarter of Indiana University’s 4-3 overtime win over Drexel on Sunday, picking up the rebound to score and tie the game.
FOOTBALL
Craig Reynolds (Abington) worked his way from D2 to Minicamp Invite to earning a contract to the practice squad of the Washington Redskins. The Abington graduate earned a free agent contract with the Washington Redskins back in May following a successful showing at the team’s rookie minicamp. The running back continued to turn heads in training camp and debuted on the opening play of the second half during Washington’s 30-10 loss at Cleveland in the first game of the preseason. Reynolds paced the Redskins in rushing yards (21) and carries (nine) while also catching his only target for five yards.

Michael Thomas (Neshaminy), Sebastian Krysztofowicz (Central Bucks East) and Ryan Hannigan (Central Bucks West) each scored a goal in Penn State Abington’s 7-1 win over Bryn Athyn on Saturday. For Thomas and Hannigan – both freshmen – it was their first collegiate goals.
Freshman Aidan Link (Pennridge) scored in the 28th minute of Eastern University’s 2-0 win over Marietta College in Friday’s season opener.
Evan Vare (Central Bucks East) scored a goal in Villanova’s 5-0 win over Delaware on Friday.
Redshirt freshman Colin Bateman (Hatboro-Horsham) scored his first collegiate goal on a header in the 55th minute of La Salle’s 2-1 season-opening win over Iona on Friday.
WOMEN’S SOCCER
Junior Maddie Elwell (Wissahickon) contributed an assist in ninth-ranked Vanderbilt’s 4-0 win over Evansville last Sunday. In Vanderbilt’s season-opening 7-0 win over Georgia State, Elwell had three assists.
Senior Emma Loving (Central Bucks East) contributed an assist in the University of Pennsylvania’s 5-1 loss to No. 3 Stanford in its season opener on Friday. Freshman Sara Readinger (Souderton) was in the starting lineup in her first collegiate game.
Miranda Royds (Hatboro-Horsham) recorded seven saves in Lehigh’s 1-1 tie with Fairleigh Dickinson on Thursday. The junior goalkeeper made a strong save to her right in the 28th minute to keep Lehigh’s deficit at 1-0. Early in the second half, Royds made another stellar save, deflecting a ball that looked ticketed for the back of the net off the cross bar, allowing her defense to clear it out of harm’s way. In Lehigh’s 0-0 tie with Monmouth, Royds was credited with four saves.
Shannon McGinn (William Tennent) scored an unassisted goal in the 42nd minute of Allegheny’s 2-1 win over Spalding (Ky.) in its season opener on Friday.
Freshman Allie Trick (Souderton) scored two goals in DeSales University’s 5-1 win over Alvernia University in the 2019 season opener for both teams Friday. The Souderton grad came off the bench to score the second and fourth goals for DeSales.

Junior Steph Judkins (Pennridge) put her name in the program record book in Cabrini’s 3-0 win over Washington & Lee on Saturday. The Pennridge grad became the sixth player in school history to record 1,000 career kills, a mark she reached in the third set. Judkins finished the match with 19 kills. She is just 139 shy of the program mark of 1,143. Judkins also had 17 digs. In Friday’s 3-1 win over Ursinus, Judkins tallied 23 kills and 11 digs. In Cabrini’s 3-1 loss to Garnet on Friday, Jukinds had 23 kills and 14 digs.
Freshman Jenny McAnaney (Upper Dublin) had five kills in Penn State Abington’s 3-0 sweep of Centenary University on Saturday. In Friday’s 3-0 win over Rosemont, McAnaney led the Nittany Lions with 10 kills and six digs.
Miranda Foster (Neshaminy) had a team-high eight kills in Ursinus College’s 3-1 loss to Mt. Aloysius on Friday.
Madelyn Mosser (Pennridge) recorded a career record and team high 16 kills in Gwynedd Mercy’s 3-1 win over Rutgers-Newark in the second match of a tri-match at Fairleigh Dickinson-Florham on Saturday. Bridget McTamney (Pennridge) had her second double-double of the day with 35 assists and 16 digs. In Gwynedd’s 3-2 loss to FDU-Florham, McTamney had a career best 25 digs and three blocks to go along with 34 assists and three services aces. Mosser finished with 10 kills, 14 digs and two aces.
