PENNRIDGE 19, CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 9
Madigan Posey’s nine-point game and teammate Gianna Leuthe’s seven-point night led Pennridge to its eighth win of the season.

Pennridge coach Maddie Dachowski: “We went into today excited for a good game, and the girls were ready to put up big numbers. We have a ton of away games on our schedule this month, so we are getting into the rhythm of adjusting to the away game schedule and staying locked in through travel and earlier game times. Today’s game plan was to have fun, learn to possess for longer and patiently, and of course, put the ball in the back of the net.”
–First half: “We had a great start to the game and were already at eight goals after the first quarter. We were all gas, no brakes and had a dominant showing on the draw at the start. The first to score for the Rams was no surprise from Gianna Leuthe only 14 seconds in. Leuthe, typically a goal scorer, took on a huge role assisting today with a career high five assists totaling seven points total. The next to score was Madigan Posey, who went on a three-goal unanswered run for the Rams. She put up her first off a cut and Gianna Leuthe assist, her second off an iso drive, and her third off a streaming cut across the middle and capped off her hat trick in style with a stunning BTB goal. Posey has already marked her fifth hat trick of the season and is averaging 4.8 points per game this year. Next to get to the back of the net was Leah Verespy off a drive. It was great to see Leah take charge getting to the back of cage today. She is such a selfless player and always looks for the next pass rather than doing it herself, I loved seeing her step up and bury an iso take. The next goal was another iso for the Rams when Gianna Leuthe hit her second. Maddy Boyer was next to get in on the action and hit a goal off another Gianna Leuthe assist. Last to score for the quarter for the Rams was Aubrey Bailey off yet another Gianna Leuthe Assist.
“Going into the second quarter I told the girls to try and settle and slow down a bit work on possession and running some plays. I feel like we should not have let up so soon because CB South definitely had a step on us in the second quarter on the draw and did outscore us on the quarter. We had trouble getting ahold of the 50/50 balls in quarter two, and it definitely reflects in the scoring for the quarter. That is what is so fun and exciting about this game, momentum is everything and no matter how much we were in control, it did swing their way for about eight minutes. I called a timeout, we adjusted, and we were sure to put an end to any type of run and start to answer back. Cayla Wurz hit her first and was the only one to score in the second quarter and she did off of another Gianna Leuthe assist.”
–Second half: “Going into the second half, I told the girls to just go out there and do their thing and have fun with it. All I cared about was limiting careless turnovers and putting the ball away. The first goal of the quarter came from Taylor Burkett getting her first of the game off Gianna Leuthe’s fifth assist of the night. Next to find the back of the net was Madigan Posey again for her fourth off a drive. Taylor Burkett was quick to put up her second of the game off a Madigan Posey assist. Only 12 seconds later. Cayla Wurz was next to score putting up her second. Cayla’s shooting percentage was strong tonight, scoring 3 of 4 shots taken. Madigan Posey was next and added her fifth and sixth, leaving us to end the quarter up by eight.
“The fourth quarter was business as usual. We stayed in control and finished the game strong. Maddy Boyer put up her second of the game off a Madigan Posey feed. Boyer, a freshman starter, has been extremely consistent this season and is always a contributor in some way on the attacking end. She has six games this season with at least three points in each, which on this team of almost all upperclassmen is huge. Next, Posey hit her third assist of the game when she found a cutting Aubrey Bailey in the 8m for her second. Leah Verespy notched her second of the game with a flashy twizzler goal off an assist from her sister, freshman Kayla Verespy. They have a great connection, and I am confident that she will always find Leah somewhere in the 8m. Cayla Wurz capped off the Rams scoring on the night and she completed her hat trick with one minute left on the clock. This marks three hat tricks on the season for Wurz.”
–Overview: “Overall, It was another great win for this team. As we continue to succeed and improve our record, we need to be ready for a battle every game. We are riding a really awesome wave right now and I want to be sure that the girls know we got here with a ton of hard work and that will never stop no matter what game or day it is. I am excited to hit the halfway point of the season sitting at 8-1 and I am ready and excited for what this next half will bring.”
Central Bucks South coach Janique Craig: “I am very proud of how my team played today. They were disciplined and did well on the draw controls and ground balls. We continue to improve every game and in every practice. We were within four goals of Pennridge and nearly closed the gap to three before the half. Pennridge is a very talented team and one of the top programs in the state. I’m proud of the consistent improvement we’ve shown throughout the season. If we can avoid giving up runs of multiple goals and stay mentally locked in for a full 48 minutes, we’ll continue to put ourselves in a position to compete with anyone.”
Up next: Pennridge (8-1, 4-0 SOL) will travel to Quakertown for a non-league game on Monday. Central Bucks South (3-5, 2-2) will travel to North Penn on Wednesday.
