Non-league
Central Bucks East 1, Spring-Ford 1
It was another tie for a Patriots’ squad that now has five on the season. This one came in Saturday’s non-league game against the visiting Rams.
Spring-Ford struck first with a goal late in the opening half, and with 11 minutes remaining Trevor Matlack turned a pass from fellow captain Dustin Weber into the equalizer.
Scoring Summary
First half
Spring-Ford goal 39th minute
Second half
Trevor Matlack from Dustin Weber (CBE), 68th minute
Central Bucks East coach Josh Isaacsohn:
–The game: “It was a pretty tight first half. I would say they probably had a little bit better control of the ball than we did, but it was a bit back and forth, a little bit scrappy, but a good game and organized. They ended up scoring with 1:45 left in the half. We gave up a fairly bad foul, and they were about 30 yards out. Our keeper was a little bit screened, and the kid placed a very nice free kick in the net.
–Bouncing back: “The boys were resilient. We definitely had more shots and more attempts at goal than we’ve had over the last few games, and eventually, with 11 minutes left in the game, we had a long throw-in, and Dustin Weber took the throw-in. He ended up connecting with another captain, Trevor Matlack, who put the ball in.
“It was a very scrappy last five or six minutes, kind of disorganized both ways and giving up a few counters, but in the end, we ended up with another tie and just hoping to get that ball in the net after getting to goal so many times. Just that final last finishing touches with the goalkeeper is missing.”
Up next: Central Bucks East will travel to Upper Dublin for a non-league SOL crossover game Tuesday.
