SOL Patriot
Council Rock South 7, Harry S Truman 0
The Golden Hawks wanted their seniors to have a night filled with celebrations.
They were getting it no matter what pregame as the team held its Senior Night ceremonies. Then they made sure the postgame celebration would be just as fulfilling, picking up the win and securing an outright SOL Patriot division title.
Although CR South is often in the mix for the division crown and has shared a few, it had been 16 years since the Hawks had one to call all their own. The seniors made sure there wouldn’t be any doubt, combining for five of the team’s seven tallies while starting fast and setting the tone.
CR South will be back under the lights on Monday when it hosts defending PIAA Class 2A champion Archbishop Wood on Community Night, the Hawks also right in the mix for a top-four Class 4A district playoff seed.
Scoring Summary
1st Half
CRS – Riley O’Halloran (Carly Conetta)
CRS – Lylah Day
CRS – Sophia Smith
CRS – Lorelei Hanratty
2nd Half
CRS – Ruby Bross
CRS – Abby Heimer
CRS – Sophia Smith
CR South coach Nick Heim: “We welcomed Truman for our last league home game and to celebrate Senior Night. We stressed before the game that despite it being a special night, there was still a game with a lot on the line: a win would secure a division title. Our four seniors, Ruby Bross, Abby Heimer, Riley O’Halloran, and Sophia Smith, led the way as they had five goals between the four of them to help us to victory.”
Senior sparkplugs: “We got started early when O’Halloran scored 90 seconds into the game on a great pass by Carly Conetta. Lylah Day, Smith, and Lorelei Hanratty added on tallies before the break. In the second half, Bross, Heimer, and Smith added insurance goals. Assists were picked up by O’Halloran, Claire Vizza with two, Zoya Joshua, and Lily McCory.”
Props: “Overall, we were able to use our depth nicely to help celebrate a special group, and the school’s first outright division title since 2010. This group of seniors is one that leads by example, working hard in training every single day, and always putting team goals above individual success. They’re involved in the school and community and are great examples of what it means to be a student athlete and represent our program. It was fitting for them to be able to clinch on their night.”
Submitted by Harry S Truman coach Brian Gilbert: “I think we played a lot better than the score indicated. We came out strong with a couple scoring chances in the opening minutes. On one play, the defender was shielding the ball as it was rolling out of bounds towards the far right goal-line, however, freshman forward Brennan Gilbert hustled and got around the defender to the right and just before the ball rolled out of bounds got to the ball and got a hard cross off. Her follow-through momentum sent her body rolling out of bounds, but the ball was live and looked like a corner kick. Forward Ella Goldey made a run and went up for the header, however, the CR South keeper was able to get up over her and make the catch.
“Moments later, Gilbert had another cross from the right corner which appeared it would be an uncontested save, however, from the far left, speedy freshman midfielder Madison Egan made an angled run, stepping in front of the keeper just as the ball arrived, however, the Council Rock keeper was sure-handed, securing both saves cleanly. If she lets up a rebound on either, we probably score. Council Rock scored their first goal shortly after and never looked back on the scoreboard, but we kept on battling.
“Later in the second half, we were able to generate good offensive pressure on a play by another pair of freshmen. Lily Hadfield dribbled through a couple of players to start the play, and Ariana Aviles came up with the ball and took a hard shot that was destined for the corner, however, the Council Rock keeper sprawled out to make a great save. Kudos to the keeper, we didn’t have nearly as many shots as they did, but that was a heck of a save to keep the clean sheet. This is a team that doesn’t yield many goals. and we got a good glimpse of why.
“On the other end, Truman keeper Dani Gilbert was busy. On paper, one might look and be like ‘Wow, she let up seven goals,’ but you look at the shots and realize ‘Wow, she made 26 saves.’ Rock took a lot of hard shots that she was able to catch clean, and on the first two first half goals, she got a piece of both shots and another goal deflected off one of our defenders. There were multiple plays where she had to come out and challenge an attacker on a breakaway and was able to make a sliding save. My favorite save was on a second effort hustle. Gilbert got her fingertips on a save, but again, it looked like the momentum of the shot was going to carry it over the goal line, however, Gilbert popped and dove backwards to swat the ball out to the side before it crossed the line. That was her effort when we were down six goals.
“Another player whose hustle stood out was Hadley Rizzo. In the previous game, she sacrificed some minutes so that seniors could get more playing time during our senior appreciation. We were also short JV players, and she stepped in to play fullback for the first time. That is the type of selfless and team-first attitude coaches want to see out of their players. She drew the start tonight and seemed to kick it in another gear. There were multiple plays where the ball appeared to be rolling out of bounds and she sprinted back to keep it in bounds. She won us a lot of throw-ins, saving a ball from going out, but then winning the battle along the sideline to get the ball to go off the defender. She was sound on defense, hustling back from an offensive rush to ensure she picked up her mark.
“Our leading scorer Gwen Marston has been utilized on the defensive end of the ball, and during our last meeting with CR South, she was a big part of helping us keep that game close. Marston injured her back in the first half and could not return to the match. Seniors Julianna Romer and Monica Almanza played strong physical games on the outside, and a young rotation at stopper of sophomore Harley Palencik and freshman Payton Morris and Jaedyn Olds helped finish out the game.”
COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 4 3 – 7
HARRY S TRUMAN 0 0 – 0
Council Rock North 1, Neshaminy 1
A back and forth first half led to a stalemate in the final 40 minutes between CR North and Neshaminy on Thursday.
Neshaminy notched the first goal, but CR North was able to battle back and find an equalizer. From there, neither team could find separation. CR North remains in contention for a first round home playoff match while Neshaminy is battling on the edge of the District 1 Class 4A bubble heading into its final two games next week.
Scoring Summary
1st Half
N – Leah Kaczmarek (Evie Dozier)
CRN – Cierra Frank (Darcy McCullough)
2nd Half
No Scoring
CR North coach Gavin Flannigan: “Tough divisional game today, anytime we’ve played Neshaminy it’s been competitive and today was no different.”
First half: “I thought that the first half we played pretty well in all aspects of the game, we were physical, composed and had a great intensity to our game, we were unfortunate to go behind on what felt like Neshaminy’s first attack halfway through the first half, we were able to equalize on a header from Cierra Frank off a great corner from Darcy McCullough.”
Second Half: “Second half I think Neshaminy probably had more of the play and we couldn’t really generate much. Credit to our backline for holding firm, Bella Lanza, Sophia Milich, Cierra Frank, Annie Mills and Emma Mandato did a nice job.”
Neshaminy coach Josh Van Reed: “I think our girls came out today ready to play. We were able to apply some pressure from putting balls behind the defense. We were rewarded early with a goal from Leah Kaczmarek. She got a nice ball out through from Evie Dozier and was able to have time and composure to finish. Rock North has been dangerous on set pieces, and they proved that with a goal from a corner before half. Going into half we knew they would ramp it up a bit, and they definitely applied more pressure. We held on and managed the pressure. While we did create some chances we couldn’t seem to find a final ball. This is always one of our toughest games in league and they are always well prepared. Definitely felt like a playoff game, with both teams pushing for a win and unwilling to concede. Some good play from our keeper, Alexis Barnes, and our defense today. Chloe Mougeotte, Lily Kaczmarek, Emma Harrison and Marie Mitchell.”

Overall, a great team performance and a fun night celebrating our seniors.”

SOL Colonial
Pennridge 2, Central Bucks East 1
The first match between the SOL heavyweights was a barnburner, CB East taking a 3-1 lead only for Pennridge to come back and tie it 3-3 before the Patriots ultimately claimed the win. Thursday’s return leg didn’t have quite the same
fireworks in terms of scoring, but it was no less competitive.
East took the lead and held it at half thanks to yet another goal from senior Taylor Roumy. While the Patriots had already secured the Colonial Division crown, they had won 14 straight games and hadn’t dropped any points in the division.
On a night celebrating their seniors, it was a junior stepping up for Pennridge in the second half. Mikayla Loux, who scored a big goal on Tuesday, put it on herself to make something happen and scored both goals to make it an eighth straight Rams victory.
CB East took its first loss of the season but remained first in the District 1 Class 4A rankings while Pennridge moved into the No. 2 slot as both teams seem well in line for a first round bye to begin the postseason.
Scoring Summary
1st Half
CBE – Taylor Roumy
2nd Half
P – Mikayla Loux 27:05
P – Mikayla Loux (Kylie Manville) 9:13
Pennridge coach Lucas Kriner: “Really nice to get the win on senior night. In the team room pre-game, we discussed the plan, including the tactics and the motivations, and the girls responded brilliantly. At halftime the energy was really high and players both on and off the field were seeing the game really well and sharing ideas. These team
room vibes have a lot to do with our energy and effort, so credit to the players for their recognition that those types of contributions matter to the success of the team.”
Loux delivers: “Mikayla has capped off a really wonderful week with her tallies tonight. She’s had recent success when creating her chances quickly – that was my take on her action in the box for her second goal off a great ball from Kylie. The first was a good read on East’s center backs’ interactions on the back of some forethought by her to gamble a little bit and press high.”
Takeaways: “We’ve been talking since the summer about how to have the grit and supporting game plan, players, mentality to come back from deficits. That produced fruit tonight in a really big game for us against a top class team in CB East, so I’m very happy with that ‘full circle’ piece for what tonight means. It’s such a privilege to play in this league and have CB East as our neighbor in the Colonial. Win or lose, these are exactly the kind of games we want to be playing in mid-October.”
PENNRIDGE 0 2 – 2
CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 1 0 – 1
Central Bucks West 1, Souderton 1
A pair of first half goals, one from each side, ensured the Bucks and Indians split the points on Thursday.
Both teams put plenty of effort into the full 80 minutes, but neither was ultimately able to find the decisive second goal. Souderton remained in the top 10 for the District 1 Class 4A standings while CB West has played itself within a few places of the final spot on the playoff cutoff with two matches to go on its schedule.
Scoring Summary
1st Half

CBW – Ella Barrett
2nd Half

CB West coach Bree Benedict: “What a team performance tonight. There is so much to be proud of with this group, especially when you look at how far we’ve come from the beginning of the season. Our growth in organization, decision-making, and overall understanding of the game has been tremendous, and tonight was another reflection of that progress.”
Defensive standouts: “Our back line was exceptional in its communication and organization throughout the game. That group has grown tremendously in its ability to recognize situations, provide cover, and solve problems collectively. Emily Van Why continues to be such an important presence for us. Her composure, positioning, and ability to organize those around her have been invaluable. Alongside Kacey Sohanic, Abby Denicore, and Stella Wierzbowski, they’ve developed into a really cohesive defensive unit. Watching them execute at that level was incredibly rewarding.”
Props: “Brynne Goche was outstanding in the wide areas, bringing a level of tenacity and aggression that really elevated our play. Alyssa Terry was electric on the ball. Her ability to glide past defenders and create opportunities in one-on-one situations makes her such a dangerous player in the attacking third. Sophie Borgmann and Ella Barrett gave us an incredible amount of work rate through the middle of the field. Their ability to cover ground, compete in
transition, and contribute on both sides of the ball was critical. Ava Menard was excellent defensively with her marking and ability to clear pressure, while also recognizing opportunities to play balls in behind the opposition’s back line. Amber Madden gave us some important moments of composure in possession, helping us settle the game, connect passes, and establish a rhythm when things became too transitional.
Lena Hamilton and Ellen Gorman also gave us some really positive moments in the attacking areas. They each bring different qualities to the game, and I’ve been really proud of how they’ve grown into their roles. Both have embraced their opportunities and continue to make meaningful contributions with their minutes.”
Takeaways: “What stands out most to me is how much more mature we’ve become as a team. We’re recognizing the demands of different phases of the game, communicating more effectively, and making better decisions under pressure. There’s a collective understanding developing that goes beyond individual performances, and that’s something we’ve worked really hard to establish. It’s been incredibly rewarding to watch this group grow together. They’ve continued to compete, learn, and invest in one another, and I couldn’t be prouder of how far they’ve come. More than anything, there’s just a lot of joy and happiness in the way we’re playing right now. You can see how much these kids enjoy competing together, how much they believe in one another, and how much fun they’re having playing the game. As a coach, that’s probably the most rewarding part of all of this.”
Souderton coach Melissa Lollar: This week has been a tough week for us. I felt like we had control of the first portion of the game, and Meg Borro was able to put one in to give us the lead. I think that is when we took our foot off the gas and allowed West to gain more momentum. We had individual players working hard and who kept fighting, but this is a team game and when we can’t put those efforts together as a unit, we are going to be unsuccessful. I do think there were some good moments from players individually, but it just never seemed to be at the same time or together.”
–Props: “I have to give credit to Kylie Cummings and Lilly Fisher who fought a hard game with very direct play. Hannah Beckett and Meg Borro also stepped up in the second half to bring energy into the midfield. Julia Purvy was also a player that was able to play everywhere tonight and was able to be dangerous in all of those roles.”
CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 1 0 – 1
SOUDERTON 1 0 – 1
Central Bucks South 3, North Penn 0
The Titans and Knights came in with similar records and similar mindsets regarding results.
While North Penn is battling on the bubble, the Titans are fighting to secure a first round home playoff game so a win would have helped either’s respective efforts. It was a tight first half with South taking a narrow lead to
the break, but the Titans were able to open it up with two goals in the final 40 minutes to secure a key win.
Scoring Summary
1st Half
CBS – Ella Parish (Ali Tait)
2nd Half
CBS – Khloe Montini (Gigi Artman)
CBS – Lucy Keane (Emily Franklin)
CB South coach Dana Cole: “The score was 1-0 at halftime, but I could tell my girls had a good energy about them from the start. We were .500 and they were .500. So the game was an important one for us to keep us at a winning record especially within our division.”
Defensive intensity: “Peyton Karpinski was out because of her ankle, so freshman Avery Rogers stepped in to fill her shoes and played an amazing game defensively. Addie Kanopka, Ella Parish and Olivia Creswick were animals in the back and very determined to win today. I think Maddie Roe won every 50-50 ball that came her way in the midfield and kept our ball going forward on offense.”
Props: “Lucy Keane, Emily Franklin, Addie Mckeon and Kate Walsh used the speed of Gigi Artman, Ali Tait and Khloe Montini to create a lot more opportunities to score than we have been creating in the past. Hoping to take this positive energy and use it against Pennridge and in the postseason.”

SOL Liberty
Upper Dublin 2, Abington 1
The Cardinals, who lost their lead in the division on Tuesday, were able to get it back with a hard-fought Senior Night win over Abington.
UD’s victory moved the Cardinals to 18 points overall, two clear of Wissahickon and Plymouth Whitemarsh heading into the final set of fixtures for what’s been a very competitive table. Ella Shockley’s goal with 10 minutes remaining provided the difference after an even first half.
Scoring Summary
1st Half
UD – Brooke Smith (Maya Schulz) 20th
2nd Half
UD – Ella Shockey (Kayla McNamara) 70th
Upper Dublin coach Darius Gbunblee: “Tough game against Abington tonight. They came out strong and made it difficult for us to break them down. We’ve had a tough few weeks dealing with injuries and a few games that haven’t gone our way, so it was great to come away with a big win on Senior Night.”
Standouts: “Shout-out to Ella Shockey for scoring the goal that would eventually prove to be the game-winner. I also want to recognize all of our seniors, who played their hearts out tonight: Bridget DeMartile, Morgan Walsh, Bailey Fichter, Claire Gorman, Sofie Serrao, Shannon Connaughton, and Eve Clayton. It was a special night, and I’m proud of the way the girls battled from start to finish. Congratulations to all of our seniors.”
UPPER DUBLIN 1 1 – 2
ABINGTON 1 0 – 1
Wissahickon 2, Plymouth Whitemarsh 0
The Trojans used a pair of second half goals to create more of a logjam atop the SOL Liberty standings.
Kate Irani and Emily Bennacef had a role in both goals, Irani drew a foul that Bennacef converted as a PK midway through the half before putting one away herself off a Bennacef pass a few minutes later. The win moved Wissahickon, which is battling for a spot in districts, level with PW at 16 points in the division table with both teams now two points behind leader Upper Dublin.
Scoring Summary
1st Half

Wissahickon coach Chris McDaniels: “Our girls were outstanding today. We knew that PW would cause havoc on long throws and corner kicks – they’ve been very effective on set pieces the past two years. Our keeper, Sidney Jackson, and our back line of Brooke Collins, Kaylee Hammond, Julia Lentz and Katie Hepler matched their physicality and managed to limit these opportunities. All of the girls worked hard today and we got the result that we earned.”

SOL Freedom
Springfield Twp. 2, Lower Moreland 1
The Spartans got a huge win on their Senior Night while also making the Freedom Division standings very interesting.
Springfield Twp honored its seven seniors, who helped the team win its first SOL title last fall, then used a strong first half to put a two-goal lead on the Lions. Sophomore Karter Brady was the catalyst, the dynamic attacker netting a brace in the opening 40 minutes
The second half was about holding on, especially after LM senior Shannon Mahon pulled one back for the division co-leaders.
Lower Moreland hosts William Tennent in a de-facto division title game on Oct. 21, the Lions needing a win to force a share of the title. Springfield Twp, the current top team in the District 1 Class 2A standings, also remains in contention for a split of the title but needs a win and an LM win in the other game.
Scoring Summary
1st half
ST – Karter Brady
ST – Karter Brady (Ava Brnich)
2nd Half
LM – Shannon Mahon
Springfield Twp coach Chris Tomarelli: “The Springfield Spartans celebrated Senior Night in style Thursday, earning a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Lower Moreland while honoring their seven seniors. All seven seniors earned starting roles and set the tone early, bringing an energy and intensity that Springfield had been searching for all season.”
Brady leads first half: “The Spartans came out flying and struck just five minutes into the game. Sophomore Karter Brady found herself on the receiving end of a perfectly timed through ball, breaking in one-on-one against the Lower Moreland goalkeeper. Brady calmly slotted the ball into the lower-right corner to give Springfield an early 1-0 lead. Springfield continued to apply pressure, and junior Ava Brnich nearly doubled the advantage after creating another dangerous breakaway. Using her speed and footwork, Brnich dribbled around the goalkeeper before being taken down inside the box, earning a penalty kick. After the officials awarded the goalkeeper a yellow card, Brady stepped to the spot and once again buried the ball in the lower-right corner to give the Spartans a 2-0 lead. Brady’s second goal completed the brace and put Springfield firmly in control. Despite the early advantage, the Spartans knew the game was far from over. Lower Moreland proved why it is a quality opponent, continuing to push forward and create dangerous attacking opportunities. Springfield responded with determined defending and tremendous effort across the field.”
Senior stopper: “Senior goalkeeper Olivia Gatewood was outstanding, standing tall in net with save after save while confidently collecting loose balls in the box to shut down Lower Moreland’s chances. Behind Gatewood’s strong performance, Springfield carried its two-goal advantage into halftime.”
Defensive standouts: “The Spartan seniors once again took the field to begin the second half, delivering a strong defensive performance. Seniors Maddie Decker, Julia Guichiteau, Annika Spratt and Leah Hyland made several important tackles against dangerous Lower Moreland attackers. In the midfield, Annalyse Bunting and Siena Karn worked tirelessly to disrupt the opposition’s rhythm, win 50/50 balls and help Springfield maintain control.”
Second half battle: “About 10 minutes into the second half, the Spartans began to regain momentum. Brnich continued to cause problems for the Lower Moreland defense, taking on defenders and creating several promising chances, but Springfield could not find the third goal.
With approximately 23 minutes remaining, Lower Moreland finally broke through to cut the deficit to 2-1. The goal was overshadowed by a serious knee injury suffered by the Lower Moreland goal scorer on the play, forcing her to leave the game. The Springfield community wishes her a full and speedy recovery. With its lead trimmed to one, Springfield faced a challenging final stretch. The Spartans dug deep, continued to battle and refused to back down as Lower Moreland searched for an equalizer.”
Takeaways: “In the end, Springfield’s determination and collective effort proved enough to secure the 2-1 victory. On a special night dedicated to its seven seniors, the Spartans demonstrated the importance of hard work, commitment and playing for one another.”
Lower Moreland coach Todd Hill: “Lost a tough one to Springfield tonight. We made a couple mistakes and Springfield has such athletic attackers who made us pay.”
Senior shoutout: “Shannon Mahon, who has really been the heart of our team, scored an amazing hustle goal for us in the second half. Shannon has had to deal with each team game planning for her, and in spite of constantly being marked all over the field, she ferociously attacks the ball and very few teams have figured out how to stop her. She is an amazing leader on and off the field. I am really proud of her and am so grateful for all that she brings to the Lower Moreland soccer program.”
Props: “Additionally a shout out to defenders Jordyn Fox, Evie O’Brien, Izzy O’Brien. and Cam Cowley for a really smart game, especially in the second half.”

Senior Bailey Kasner scored and assisted a goal in the first half as Tennent got four different scorers to pick up the win. Alena Beer had two assists in an unselfish attacking effort that saw a helper on each goal.
Tennent ended the night with sole possession of first place in the Liberty standings. It will finish the regular season at Lower Moreland on Oct. 21, a win or draw clinching an outright division title

We knew we had to play within our system and control possession. We created dangerous opportunities in the first half and capitalized on the last one before the half. Mia Meakim ran down a cross and slotted the ball back to Leah King, who finished. We continued to create opportunities throughout the second half while playing very smart on the ball.”

Wednesday, Oct. 14
Quakertown 1, Hatboro-Horsham 0
The Panthers celebrated their seniors with a crucial victory under the lights on Wednesday.
Quakertown was able to give its five seniors a memorable night thanks to the efforts of a couple of the team’s standout juniors. Mya James has been a production machine this fall, so it wasn’t surprising the ball found her foot in the final minutes with a chance to win the game.
James ripped a powerful shot that didn’t find the mark, hitting the crossbar instead, but classmate Shylee Williams was there to put away the rebound for a clutch goal of her own.
Quakertown is hovering around the District 1 Class 4A playoff line with a matchup against a Methacton team in the top 10 coming up on Friday.
