BENSALEM 10, SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP 4
The Owls put runs on the board in six of seven innings on their way to the non-league win.
They led 1-0 when Damon Lavender delivered an RBI single in the top of the first. The Spartans got that run back in the bottom of the inning, but the Owls were just getting started. They plated an unearned run in the second and tacked on two runs in the top of the third to go on top 4-1.
Bensalem took a 5-2 lead into the fifth inning when they erupted for four runs. The inning was highlighted by Matt Silano’s RBI double as well as RBI singles from Ryan Rooney, David Barnett and Nicholas Dean. A double by Rich Bordone ignited the rally.
Dean (2-for-4, 2 RBIs, run) and Rooney (2-for-3, RBI, 2 runs) led the Owls’ 10-hit attack. Contributing one RBI each were Austin Shay, Silano, Lavender, Greg Phelan, Rooney and Barnett.
Matt Macshane earned the win, allowing five hits and two runs (one earned) while striking out seven and walking two in four innings. Ryan McLaughlin threw the final three innings.
Bensalem (4-2, 3-2 SOL) will travel to Council Rock North on Monday, and Springfield Township (2-5, 1-4) will be on the road at Cheltenham Monday.

PENNRIDGE 7, ABINGTON 5
The Rams picked up a welcome win on Friday, downing the Ghosts in a non-league contest, and it was a five-run first that was the difference in this one.
The game actually started on a promising note for the Ghosts, who used a two-out rally to score a pair of first inning runs. Kevin Worek’s RBI double spotted the Ghosts a 1-0 lead, and Stephen Vogl followed with an RBI single.
In the bottom of the inning, the Rams benefitted from some wildness to plate their five runs. A leadoff single by Sean Clayton and a three-run double by Jon Nase were the only hits of an inning that included a pair of walks and a pair of hit batsman.
The Ghosts pulled to within 5-4 but never could dig themselves out of their early hole.
Nase’s four-RBI game led the Rams. Anthony Helbling was 2-for-2 with a double and RBI. Sean Lerro was 1-for-2 with a double, RBI and two runs. Derek Morgan and Nick Christ each had one RBI.
For the Ghosts, Worek had a big day at the plate, finishing the game 3-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and a run scored. Vogl was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Joey DiMaria and Angelo Pearson each had an RBI.
Four pitchers saw action for the Rams.
Pennridge (2-5, 0-4 SOL) will be on the road at Central Bucks East Monday, and Abington (2-7, 1-5) will travel to Hatboro-Horsham on Monday.
